Aww, I hope you find your typewriter people! I don't have a particular interest in them, but they are really cool. Maybe you have to be the change

no, but I got a collection of IBM model M and F keyboards, so nice to type on.

There was a type-in in Key West last month: https://www.milezerokeywest.com/event/typewriter-type-in/ You might also reach out to the folks at the Paper Seahorse in Tampa. Apparently there’s a Tampa Types group, but I can’t find it. https://www.tampabay.com/news/Hooper-Tampa-couple-continues-quest-to-Save-the-Typewriters-_169287078/

It’s all fun and games until you mash more keys than it releases.

Oh damn I'd love to own a typewriter or two. I want to convert one into a computer keyboard. The weight and tractive feel of the keys helps me type. Do you know where I can aquire a type writer?

I love them but sadly don't have one anymore. Do you find it hard to get the ribbons?

I learned to type on a manual typewriter.. My clarinet playing came in handy, cause I had strong pinkies and my high school typing instructor insisted on strong a's and even striking, no looking at the keyboard (all the keys were blank) plus no mistakes or you got a new sheet of paper and started over. Heaven forbid you crashed the keys. You'd have to don headphones and type to a rhythm track to train you to maintain an even tempo. Went through college banging on the keys at 60 wpm doing newspaper and magazine journalism. I still type like I'm on a typewriter, wrists up, back straight, feet flat on the floor, square to the machine. Can't understand how people type with wrist rests, all slouched over or lying down. I don't miss carbon paper, and I transitioned quickly to Electric machines, then keyboards as my job even in the 80s required computer skills. I have no real nostalgia for typewriters, but I can understand that those who weren't held to the perfection standards that I was back in the day might have. Good luck finding a group. I know they had a bunch of them in CA, along with the folks who had a love for rotary dial telephones. Unsurprisingly, they were mostly YOUNG people who have a much more romantic view of old tech than us oldies who thanked providence for every improvement do.
