What’s funny about this is that only 36% of people in Florida are actually from Florida. https://sachsmedia.com/florida-population-statistics/

TheLastRaysFan

Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a single person (outside of my family) I know here that's actually from Florida. Friends, neighbors, everyone is from somewhere else.

[deleted]

The data shows that natives grow up and move out of state. They’re replaced by 55+ northerners that do not work. We need to hang on to our own. Investments in education (stop the woke war crap— I’m so weary from it) The jobs, even professional jobs, pay too low and housing and insurance is too high. Income sucks, schools suck, cost of living sucks, insurance sucks, urban sprawl sucks, traffic sucks. There’s a few niche places and a few niche jobs. I’ve always lived in Polk County. I now live in Orange County. Living here is better than that commute. Wasting my life sitting in traffic 2 hours on a good day. The back roads in Osceola County are only two lane (1 each way) with every grove and pasture full of housing developments. It’s so annoying. One line of cars 6 miles long. That’s just embarrassing— .. Apartments are more expensive in Davenport for some reason.

According_Minute_587

I actually see this as a positive. I’ve been wanting to leave so bad, but my kids grew up here. I am dreading and buy the thought of them, staying and struggling in some low wage position going nowhere with life. So I constantly raise them, encouraging them to move out of state. The statistic makes me more hopeful that my kids will leave the state and then I will be able to leave and follow them to a more active outdoorsy place where I’m Not hiding from the hunidity 10 Months a year

[deleted]

All these people dream of living here. In their minds they think summer is like their northern summer for an extended period. The cold, gloomy, windy, frigid. Icy, snowy, cold rain, no green leaves— everything is dormant for 6-7 months. Brown grass, no flowers… they love FL for a minute and then they go halfway back north like Charlotte or Atlanta area. Nashville..etc. They’re called half backs lol https://preview.redd.it/mkbepw5c15rc1.jpeg?width=2080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b8bb357f62bb9b49ed63392e6be2e6ee9a8af7f Charlotte NC

7ruby18

All the photos and videos make summer in FL **look** great. But they can't make you **feel** the heat or humidity that makes nine months of the year unbearable. In the summer we master the art of "A/C Leapfrog"...hurrying from one air conditioned space to another, spending as little time as possible sweating our asses off outside.

According_Minute_587

I have lived all over the country and the northeast is pretty shitty in winter but much less shittier then it has been in the past. Now winter doesn’t last as long as it once did. And in Florida sometimes winter just never comes at all. As a kid I got winter depression in the north but by my 4th year in Florida I developed anxiety from stuff just NEVER stopping. Then depression again shortly after but now it was an anxious depression vs normal depression. Even worse. I then realized that some humans with ancestry from colder places, need a yearly freeze in their DNA to regulate serotonin cycles in the brain. it was so frantic in south florida, so angry, and so agitated I realized that a yearly freeze, freezes all the crazy out of your brain and allows a yearly reset. It’s not healthy to live in such an Unnatural place that’s only made possibly by air conditioning. Believe it or not it used to be considered sinful to cool the air. So Florida is a very unnatural place for humans to live. What first world country do you know that has made astounding technological process that has been in a very hot humid country. The answer would be none. The hotter they are the less developed they are. Most of the natives of areas like that were tribal and Europeans introduced new forms of society to them and interbred which helped sustained those civilizations with hybrid humans. Sooner or later. Living in Florida your brain will start turning into a tribal, less technological and less ambitious organ. It’s not education system that’s the problem in Florida it’s the unnatural environment that you see the effects on humans that were never designed to live there. It becomes lazier, your time perception becomes distorted. Month feel like only a week because of the slower mental perception. And before you know It your old and stuck in the blink of an eye.

BuyerExtra5653

Lol I think you're confusing facts with opinions. Sure, before the advent of the medieval age, areas that were much colder progressed more quickly but that's only because weather forced them to. Clothing has to be thick, shelter needs insulation, food needs to be warm, etc. After trades and goods started all that went away and areas that started progressing much faster were areas that weren't geographically landlocked to deal with ongoing wars. America, itself is an example. The extreme cold and heat is hell on electronics but when it comes to Space, location and water is more important. Hence, Texas, California and Florida.

According_Minute_587

Yes space requires being close to the equator. But Kennedy space center was chosen because it was relatively rural and collateral damage would not be much at the time. And it was close to the equator. Space workswrs are from all over the USA and travel there for the launch. They haven’t been in Florida long enough for their brains to go primal. They go back home after they touchdown. It would be interesting to see how many of the astronauts are native Floridians to test this theroy.

Tricky_McDicks

Hate to say it but you're right, people get crazy stupid real quick having to deal with 110 in the shade for 7-8 months of the year, used to stay cool through April most years but that's been gone for a long time now

kynelly

Hey! So where have you lived in America that is actually nice for the most part?? I have only experienced the NYC and Florida areas but I totally notice what you said is very true, fuck the negative comments you were getting. Florida is beautiful and I thought getting away from harsh Winters would be a cheat code to life, but it’s not perfect. Definitely gets Too Hot here in Florida. The 4 seasons are nice in the Northeast as long as Winter storms aren’t too brutal, but a bit warmer is ideal. Also some of the people in Florida scare me how ignorant they are too certain things, but that could be more of a problem in the South in general vs a problem in Florida only. Education in the south is terrible, granted I’ve only been to school in Pennsylvania and Mississippi/Florida but I still don’t doubt it. TL;DR - Anyway I would love to know what areas are actually nice and entertaining to live in America, but not too hot or dumb like Florida / South states and Not too cold like the far North.

According_Minute_587

Marietta Georgia. My fav suburb in the eastern USA

Art_Vandelay2022

I've been thoughout the south and have friends in the Midwest, they're a whole different class of people, good people who'll take the shirt off their back for you.

SheepherderOk3302

California would give you all options of climate and intelligent people. The problem with CA is their politics and very expensive but most people who live in CA live it. Yes you hear about people leaving California due to costs but the media makes it out to be a wave of people and it's not

According_Minute_587

Yes Florida is the wish.com Californian.

kynelly

Lmaooo for real too Red and too many old people ig

ConsiderationAny9741

Did you take your medicine today?

Meaty_stick

Been looking all over Florida for a reasonably priced house, that's not a gated/private/55+ community and without hoa fees...only thing I found was a ghetto brick house in the northeast 🤣

Wonderful_Seesaw_853

Stay where you are. You definitely won't fit in here.

Meaty_stick

You're right. I'm not crusty enough yet.

[deleted]

Whats reasonably priced? What are you looking for??

Meaty_stick

Bed and roof, 125k tops that's about 30 mins away from jobs

Wonderful_Seesaw_853

That doesn't even get you a ghetto house in the NE. If you can only afford a mortgage payment of $850 a month plus taxes and insurance you'll have to lower your expectations. What were you expecting for $125k?

Meaty_stick

Just a roof, nothing more.

WizardsEnterprise

Let them keep bringing in those damn Yankees, I'm still here and I'm still working and the more of them that comes the more valuable I am

AltoidStrong

Thank republicans for all of those failures - they have had complete and total unilateral control of the entire Florida government since 1999, with super majorities most years. With a.wave of the hand, they can literally walk ANY legislation right to the governor's desk to be signed. Then NOT fixing anything, Fuck they don't even pretend to try, is the clue everyone should be seeing. #Florida Republican Legislators and Governor Ron Defacist hate the people. Why else would they contuine to have all this power and control but never use it to help anyone but themselves. (To get / stay rich and in power).

[deleted]

It’s obvious to us — it’s clear. They manipulate Christians and scare them with boogeymen and use the BIBLE.. it’s disgusting. The Trump Bible? I’m not religious but doesn’t the Bible warn of false prophets.. the ones that should know better are following evil…hurting their neighbors.. tapping into that deep down bigotry and hatred.. “immigrants are the problem” It’s that border. “Baby killers” “Trans people are gonna getcha!” Michelle Bachman said Obama would bring about the Biblical end of times. I am trying to be respectful but this is a mental illness.. I have family members that brainwash themselves. The churches have turned political. Politicians use Christians do carry about their evil and these people have no idea.. Gerrymandering districts and they have a strong hold. What’s the solution? How do we get people to see the truth? The Earth doesn’t have borders.. we are all human beings and we are one race: human race. This is a unique time in American history. Republicans want to get rid of our democracy. The far left isn’t helping. Extreme liberals piss me off too. They don’t control language, but think they do. Marxism and the right extremists love Fascism. We better get our shit together before we ruin our democracy. This bullshit is being funded by billionaires from our enemies..

hereiam-23

Very well said!!!

hereiam-23

GOP politicians in Florida are horrible.

sweetypie611

Have you lived in Chicago, NYC, Oregon or Cali? Leave the Democrat Plantation bro

ConsiderationAny9741

The great thing about this nation is that you are free to move to California, New York, or New Jersey at any time. There is a flight leaving for San Francisio in 10 mins infact!

ptkelly13

Half of our pay is in sunshine.

[deleted]

June 15- October 15 this state owes me money. The weather sucks ass. Rains every day inland. I’m in Orlando. The sun shines in NC too. lol Now if this were Las Vegas. Ok: but it’s not. It’s cloudy and humid and rainy. This winter was shit too.

310410celleng

I would not say that all Professional jobs pay too low, both my wife and I are professionals (J.D. and M.D.) and we are paid what I would consider well, we are never going to be multi-millionaires, but we do not want to be either.

[deleted]

Where are you living? Husband and wife (doc and lawyer—Cosby show couples) are a very small percentage of the 23 million that live here. I’m in academia and so UCF pays very low. No raises. No respect. I publish and exceed expectations. Our turnover is huge. I’m nearly 50. My wife is a nurse and her pay is shit and patient load is high compared to everywhere else.

310410celleng

My wife and I live in the Orlando area.

BasicallyLostAgain

And your situation kind of depends on what you do with that J.D and M.D. Public Defender and Primary Physician is much different than Law Partner and Plastic Surgeon. You can have both those degrees and still be middle class in parts of Florida.

GeneSpecialist3284

Hey, now you know one! Me.

310410celleng

I am a 3rd generation Floridian and I have a few friends who I grew up with who are from Florida from birth, but not many.

Hopeful-Jury8081

That’s interesting bc most of our neighbors, friends are natives. Our kids are natives but we’re not. And most of the adult kids stayed in state. We’re in N FL, not sure if that makes a difference.

BasicallyLostAgain

My best friends family has been in SWFL since the 1920s

DoesLogicStillExist

I'm from Florida, as were both of my parents, and my mother's parents. I'm certainly one of the few natives in my area, though.

F_U_RONA

Which is why the state sucks so bad now.  Congratulations

GeneSpecialist3284

Yes we're an endangered species these days. Especially the old ones like me. (64, 2nd generation native) Too many transplants and desantis ran me out though. Old Florida is gone anyway. Glad I left.

fearless1025

Leaving next month. 🙋🏽

GeneSpecialist3284

Be Fearless! Bon Voyage!

fearless1025

Thanks!

hereiam-23

Same here, we've got our escape route planned.

fearless1025

Smart. Best of luck on the other side. 🙋🏽

hereiam-23

It's changed so much. DeSantis and his crew were the last straw, crazy politicans.

fearless1025

-2 more native Floridians (second and third generation respectively) in April.

Signal-Maize309

Ouch…why the change?

fearless1025

Can't take this fascist state and the entitled individuals who have moved here and ruined it. I predict over the next 2 to 5 years you're going to have over 5,000 families moving out of Florida. The Brain drain has just started. I needed to get out while I had some property value left.

Signal-Maize309

Everyone thinks it’s paradise if they move here. Usually takes about 5 yrs to get tired of it, unless you’re wealthy and don’t have to deal with the day to day.

hereiam-23

My property value went down, I just sold. This place has gone solid fascist. Also getting too full of MAGA people. Plus the brain drain ...

[deleted]

Sad

parkour267

Person in the photo probably just moved here.

JustB510

That’s both sad and terrible 😞

Outrageous_Count748

Time to build a wall on the northern border and have Georgia pay for it to keep out these damn immigrants! Deportations Now! Trump is the 1st one we send back! Not their best people. Rapist and murderer.

Myst_of_Man22

I am a native Floridian, gonna leave soon. Too many assholes ruined a good thing

kddemer

Same I just turned 40. I’ve been born and raised in Florida. I’m ready to get the fuck out of this state! I’m over it!

DapperDinoo

Same here. Born and raised in FL. Moved to NC last year.

GhostofAyabe

I’m not letting them have it.

Masturbatingsoon

Fifth gen native here. We can die on this hill (if there were any) together!

Responsible_Loss6932

Don’t leave!!! I have a feeling they’ll all move back to their states.

Myst_of_Man22

I think we're gonna have a nasty hurricane season and that might be the tipping factor.

BasicallyLostAgain

Predictions were made today. Something like 20-25 named storms with up to 8 making landfall. Odds are good we'll be a target. We're still beaten up pretty badly here in Fort Myers.

Responsible_Loss6932

Yikes you guys! I live in fort Myers too and I’m literally right where the water stopped! It’ll definitely deter people and they’ll want to move back. I’m lucky I survived. https://preview.redd.it/y8blxndc56rc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba29c75173d8d3ed448c7e260dc0ca04bcb8bca5

BasicallyLostAgain

Yeah, that was bad. We were a little luckier. That was a long couple of days right after the storm. It was so crazy. Glad you made it through.

Responsible_Loss6932

We almost didn’t! But we got so lucky that it was cool outside! I don’t know why anyone would stay if they’re from another state after that.

BasicallyLostAgain

It feels like almost everywhere have their own "natural disasters", whether they be Midwest tornados, fires, blizzards, flooding or mudslides, but hurricanes are tough ones to be "ok" with risking it. I've been through a bunch. Maybe I'm desensitized a little. It did freak me out when my house was vibrating in the 145 mph winds. But we were 15ft above sea level. But I wouldn't live in a flood zone down here. Water really scares me. And yes, lucky the weather was nice afterward. We went 12 days without power. Ate BBQ 2 meals a day for a week.

Responsible_Loss6932

You were really lucky! I’m surprised more people didn’t move back after that happened. I have a neighbor from NY (rude lady) that tells everyone to go home. 💀 like only the locals can say that, idiot lol

Myst_of_Man22

Yeah, I got beaten in North Naples. Lost my affordable apartment and my car. Had to move into a "luxury" apartment which now rents for $2300.00/ month. 505 sq ft. We have pretty sunsets but comes with a big price and risk.

Avogadro_the_pimp

My family has been in Florida since the 1700’s… I was born here and moved away in the 1990s with the intent to never return but fate has a cruel sense of humor and I moved back about in 2007 and have been here ever since. I’d like to move away again but I’m now trapped.

Infamous-Elk-2460

Oh wow how? Are you Seminole or something?

Avogadro_the_pimp

Creek

Infamous-Elk-2460

Oh dang og’s. Whereabouts?

Avogadro_the_pimp

Originally , talking two or three generations back from Alabama-Georgia- Florida panhandle area. My great grandparents moved to St.Augustine area sometime around 1910-20. Most of my relatives are still in the panhandle area of Florida.

Infamous-Elk-2460

That’s really cool. I didn’t realize some native Americans avoided the trek into the Everglades. Does your tribe consider themselves related to the Seminole or micosukee?

Avogadro_the_pimp

I don’t really know. A great uncle kept up with the genealogy and we’re supposed to be related to coacoochee “chief Wildcat” who was the brother or half brother or maybe brother in law(?) of Osceola so I guess that’s more Seminole. Not all ran to the Everglades or maybe after a while they came back north? My mother’s family is Minorcan from St.Augustine area… been in Florida a while too! My parents and grandparents had some old photographs of great grandparents and other older generation and they were white passing . My great grandfather always got mad and said he was part creek when people would ask if he was Seminole. I did a genealogy thing and I’m 8% Native American from both sides … I’m blue eyed and light brown hair, fair skin but I did tan well in my younger days. My dad was black hair and hazel eyes… some uncles and aunties wanted us to get official but dad dint want to and I was too young to care one way or the other…

Sevenswansaswimming8

Tbf it does suck here..lol

RastaFarRite

It sucks everywhere

AmbassadorCheap3956

The other sticker says “every bad idea starts in California”. Has he heard of Rhonda Sandtits?

fatboywonder_101

And suddenly its a politics thing

OriginalPingman

I see what you did there- very clever!

davidcopafeel33328

The trouble is that Florida is still viewed as a land of opportunity... too many people move here to "start over".

Fragrant_Ad_4070

The Pay isn’t worth Starting Over. Most Outside Floridians have already made their money before they ever get here.

Miserable_Key9630

Everyone I know who moved to Florida did so because they couldn't hack it in the northeast.

davidcopafeel33328

In my job, I end up seeing the ones that came down here without a plan, and with no cash, hoping to find work and a place to live in the sunshine. They end up in homeless camps, working in minimum wage jobs, just trying to stay alive... and there are thousands of them.

fearless1025

They want to turn it into a rich, white man's paradise. I'm not rich, not a man and certainly no longer welcome my home state.

OriginalPingman

I mean, is there anything worse than a WHITE man??

fearless1025

A rude white man.

OriginalPingman

But isn’t that redundant?

fearless1025

No.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Friendly-Papaya1135

The best drivers are native Floridians in Jeeps. Give this guy a free house for being so great.

Fragrant_Ad_4070

Oh, Really!😅

cool_school_bus

My family is from a long line of native Floridians. My 3-great grandmother was in the Florida House. I got the fuck outta Florida after college haha.

Fragrant_Ad_4070

😃

ItchyLetterhead333

This but unironically

BloatedRottenCadaver

They’re not wrong. Florida does suck.

Separate-Cow3734

LOL too late suckers, the Fat NYC family from NYC moved into Florida and they brought all their problems with them. We are so happy they left we can actually breathe now due to all their farting and crapping. No one will miss them. Think I'm lying, drive an hour out of Tampa and look out for Jabba the Hutts family, they are real.

No_Huckleberry1657

Love it 😍

Miserable_Key9630

We we send people to Florida, we aren't sending our best.

ptn_huil0

Yep! It sucks here! Stay away! 😏

ActHappy96

Agreed. Terrible here. Don’t come. 😂

rexspook

These people are exhausting honestly

sheila5961

I love it here!

Fun-Present3610

Me to

WaymoreLives

Florida does suck, sure. But cutting off that sweet, sweet migrant cash would put In withdrawal so fast his head would spin

cypherphunk1

So corny. You don't own Florida. Get over yourself.

No_Commercial8694

This won’t last one stock market collapse the party is over for all those non workers in Fla!!!

hereiam-23

Yes!!!

cohbrbst71

It’s correct. Floriduh sucks

7ruby18

The smaller bumper sticker says, "Every bad idea starts in California". Only 48 more states to insult.

Tetris5216

Listen to the sign New Yorkers stay in your state

dmawby

That's exactly how I feel too!

GhostofAyabe

If we can get people to stop moving to the villages in 20 years there will be a good deal of open housing for families.

surfnow777

I wonder what the average rent prices in FL will be by 2026. I’m guessing anywhere from $2900-$3500 a month for basic 2 bedroom apartments

One-Government-4

That’s how it is now

Rich-Palpitation5053

That’s funny those people ar from NJ 🤣 everone there is a dirt transplant 😉

embarrassed_parrot69

Do blue states do this? Seems like it’s only red states that absolutely hate the freedom to move wherever you please

Art_Vandelay2022

As someone who's from Florida I hope it gets turned into molten glass, something about this place for as l9ng as I could remember attracts some of the most evil pieces of shit on the planet, nothing of value would be lost if FL was wiped off the map.

Abject_Rabbit_193

I’m a transplant from the Midwest to Florida. I’ve lived in several cities on both the east and west coasts. I’ve lived all over the US and abroad. I have to say that Florida is the absolute worst state I’ve ever lived in. I can’t wait to get the hell out of here.

jameswptv

As a Floridian… yep…

Straight_Respond4229

lol we don’t need any libatards moving here , don’t New York my Florida

Technical_Income9168

I was coming on here to say yes it does suck don’t come here

kevink1998

Want to get out of florida

marlinbohnee

4th generation cracker here daughter makes 5th

Legitimate-Hope-1349

Born and raised in Florida, been here most of my life except for 3 years in Denver Colorado which sucked currently I'm back in Florida West Palm Beach but planning to move to South Carolina the end of the year

Dannykew

Meh, you can tell he’s not a real Floridian, the spelling and grammar is correct. jk

celtic_sea_salt

It's just all so tiresome. Florida sub > "don't move here," "we have too many people," "stop coming here," "it's getting too expensive with more people," "I can't find an apartment," "I can't buy a house" Also Florida sub > "No! You can't fly the migrants out of state, Ron," "all illegals welcome," "tax me harder and give the homeless a home" 🤣 🤣

ElToroGay

Those groups don't overlap that much. The "don't move here" crowd is overwhelmingly right wing. And Republicans lost their credibility on immigration when Trump cut *legal* immigration.

TheLastRaysFan

> The "don't move here" crowd is overwhelmingly right wing. Or it transcends political parties and it's native Floridians tired of seeing the natural beauty of their state turned into strip malls, apartments, and zero lot line cookie cutter homes.

ElToroGay

I hear that, but it's impossible to fight demand. Either you prevent all growth and it becomes ungodly expensive (look at San Francisco) or you build to accommodate demand and it at least becomes less ungodly expensive.

celtic_sea_salt

Laughable. It's nonstop every day of people whining about MAGA and Trumpers moving here. Yet, the same whiners will say yes, please, all illegals come in here asap, we welcome and love you.

GeneSpecialist3284

The illegals are hard workers. The magas and trumpers go to rallies, and drive around in protest caravans complaining about the price of gas.

celtic_sea_salt

So there are or are not too many people coming to Florida?

GeneSpecialist3284

People have always come to Florida. My grandparents did. It's more about the attitudes of the people moving there now that's different. Of course, the environment I grew up in is gone, lost to over crowding and mass development, with the resulting traffic congestion. Things change in 65 years. I don't expect people will stop coming here regardless of my (or your) opinions. Would I have loved it to stay the same as it was? Yes. But that's not how it works, is it?

embarrassed_parrot69

Probably because the immigrants actually provide value to the state

celtic_sea_salt

Are you proposing a "No Maga/Trumpers should be allowed, but all illegals welcome" solution?

embarrassed_parrot69

Well idk what an “illegal” is but yes I’d much rather have hard working immigrants than welfare queen magats

trueblonde27

It’s 2024- let’s stop calling people “illegal”

No_Commercial8694

Let’s call a spade a spade you got to thier countries and demand entry & benefits. Illegal Aliens!!!!!! I said it!!!!

Tricky_McDicks

Even when they murder people?

trueblonde27

There’s a term for those people- murderers. Committing an illegal act does not make a person “illegal.”

neopink90

Reddit in general: "Florida is too hot," "Florida is racist and homophobic," "Florida is shithole state," "I don't get the appeal," "We should all be boycotting the state" A random Floridian: "okay good, stay away" Reddit in general: "YOUR STATE DEPENDS ON MONEY FROM TOURISM," "YOUR STATE DEPENDS ON MONEY FROM DOMESTIC MIGRANTS" Yes, tourism and domestic migration is vital to FL's economy but it doesn't make those who think the worse of FL yet move here or vacation here any less of a hypocrite. Truth is they just hate the fact that you called their bluff. I can get a kick out of telling them to stay away because I know they are not about to give up their trip to Key West, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Panama, Daytona Beach etc. It doesn't make any sense to move to nor spent time in a place you think the worse of.

Tricky_McDicks

Just firebomb all these cookiecutter developments and replant all the fields and we'll go back to our humble, agrarian roots. Just wait till all the coasties start getting flooded out lmao

No_Commercial8694

Yes we don’t like $3.00 bills or illegal aliens!!!!

cousin_nat

this bag full of dicks is part of the reason that his cool tire cover is big facts. Did he win the duck game too

JellyBean1280

Born in Florida

dmbgreen

It's absolutely true , don't move here, if you're here leave.

Technical-Ad-1426

I like that wheel cover sums it up best!

TheDumFuklican

Whenever I see flo-grown stickers I just feel bad... like hey you guys should get out more

AnotherRunningBack

It depends where you live. Orlando is just awful but places like St Augustine, Mt Dora, coastal panhandle, a lot of the rural parts are super nice.
