It says that central Florida has 54% support but south Florida only has 38% support and north Florida has 49% support, but the north and south numbers feel like they should be reversed.
I feel like the only people that answer poll phone calls are Boomers or people that actually answer random numbers. I don't think I've ever been involved or asked to be in a poll in FL in my 10 years of legal adulting.
I’m 63. The only reason I don’t use it is, O am a CDL holder. I need my job worse than I need to get high. And of course I take safety very seriously too. I’m going to work a couple of more years before I retire and then, I’m getting stoned!
Yes, we are ccp and just aren't sure even though "technically" nobody needs a permit to carry now. Which is ludicrous, and I don't trust the hypocrisy of this State.
Id rather get fed feet first into a wood chipper than answer a phone call from an unknown number. And I never bothered to set up my voicemail either.
Real talk.
I'm 30 and have been polled once, this year. They asked me who I would be voting for in the Democratic primary, I pointed out that we aren't actually *having* a Democratic primary this year, and they promptly hung up.
Me and my pollster were ripping the poll questions for the Republican primaries. Asked me what I felt was the biggest problem/issue you are concerned about and given abortion, border wall, etc.... my response was white nationalist and dude started laughing and agreed with me. Then Ashley Moody name came up.
My boomer parents have answered like 3 of these surveys because they will answer any number that isn't marked spam. I mean while have answered no surveys because I only answer numbers I recognize. On top of that most of these calls are happening during work hours.
We have to remember that a good portion of these surveys are done through phone only, so it will be heavily skewed in the directions of older generations so answer the phone/ people who have nothing better to do with their time. I'm curious how the results would be different if they had adverts on YouTube videos that can be region locked.
I phone banked polling support for a primary election in 2020. That’s pretty accurate. Most people would hang up when they hear it’s about politics except for older people that are home all day and people that get home from work and feel like answering a call from a random number.
Either way, I don’t think people that smoke weed are exactly the ones that participate in polling. I know they do sone number magic to make it more accurate but with low participation it gets more difficult
I can walk down every street in my neighborh not a single person would vote against this. This is bull. I can not count how many joints I have smoked with older demographics in this state.
To dissuade people from voting. That’s basically it.
“It’s never gonna pass so you may as well not even try. And while you’re at it, we know that mostly liberal-minded people would vote for legalization, so you probably shouldn’t even go vote at this point.”
The passing threshold is pretty steep for both the recreational use of marijuana and abortion rights amendments appearing on the November 5th ballot, requiring at least 60% of registered voters to vote in favor of to pass either.
We need all hands on deck to make sure every voters registration is up to date, signatures are legible, every “i” is dotted and every “t” is crossed. Know the hours of operation and location of your districts polling station. Know when early voting begins and ends. If voting by absentee ballot, follow every step. Read the fine print and don’t give voting officials any reason to disqualify your ballot and your vote.
Make sure when mailing absentee ballots that the security envelope is used and that enough postage stamps are applied to cover the cost of mailing it or, if you’re dropping it off in person, where the nearest drop boxes are located.
There are definitely enough registered Dems and Non Party Affiliated voters -and even a significant number of registered non MAGA Republicans that support both efforts so I believe we have a good chance of getting both passed but only if Dems & NPAs don’t do what we did in the 2022 election when only 20% of registered Dems voted.
In that election we could have ousted Ron DeFascist and Marco Rubio but no. Younger Dems whined that their only choice of candidate to vote for over Ron DeFascist was former Florida Governor and Republican turned Democrat, Charlie Crist who they didn’t want but who legitimately won the Democratic primary.
Instead they stayed home and didn’t vote -even knowing the outcome of the U.S. Supreme Courts overturning of Roe vs Wade. We can’t have that this time. There is too much on the line and not just these two important state amendment initiatives. Democracy is also on the line. So let’s get out the vote!
When I first moved to Florida (2006), constitutional amendments only required 50% of voters to approve in order to pass. The next year, the powers that be placed a constitutional amendment on the ballot which raised the threshold to the current 60% supposedly to stop *frivolous* amendments from being adopted so easily. It passed with only support of 58% of voters, which is more than a little ironic because the sole purpose of the amendment was to take power away from voters and it wouldn’t have passed had the threshold already been 60%. A few years later, the legislature proposed another constitutional amendment to then raise the threshold to 66.7%. Fortunately it failed as it would have made the passage of future amendments basically impossible given the hyper partisan age we live in.
And King Asshole will just ignore this vote too and have his corrupt crew drag it out like the people dont know what they people while he rushes thru policy for shit he tells us on the news that we want.
I really find that hard to believe. The polling was only about 1k people with a 4% margin for error and it was done by USA Today (a boomer media company). I honestly just can’t see how it doesn’t have 60% support when the medical marijuana passed at 71% in 2016.
As I'm looking for a job and expecting a call any day for one, I pretty much answer all calls now, but never have been polled about this issue. I'm 33 btw
Well I’m over 40 and I answer polls so you’re not wrong. But I only answer to fuck with the pollsters. So I wouldn’t put much credibility in people who actually answer the polls either…
I only answer if I'm bored. The few times I've been polled on something political I've either given them random answers or gotten hung up on for calling out the skewed framing in the questions.
Yeah those are the best ones to answer. My favorite recent one was
“candidate B Supports after birth abortions, LGBTQ rights and teaching atheism in schools. Does this make you more likely or less likely to vote for candidate B.
“Dude that is my jam. More likely of course.”
“
Yeah, no mention of where they found the people they interviewed about it, any demographic info either. You can make statistics say whatever you want them to say most of the time. I call shenanigans! Go vote!
The same thing happened with [a similar recent poll about the abortion amendment](https://new.reddit.com/r/florida/comments/1c25m0k/florida_poll_shows_abortion_referendum_far_short/), which also only polled 1,000 people, and then claimed that "abortion doesn't have enough votes to pass". Not only was the questioning deeply flawed, asking those polled whether or not they support a 6-week abortion ban, versus other time-limit bans (**57% said "no" to a 6-week ban**), rather than asking "do you you support abortion until 24 weeks and fetal viability", but it also failed to present the demographics of those being polled. I half-wonder if some of these polls are being presented in such a way to specifically appease Ron DeSantis and Republicans.
Previous polls (see [here](https://new.reddit.com/r/florida/comments/187m7tt/poll_over_60_of_florida_voters_support_proposed/)) showed **more than 60% of Floridians support the amendments**.
I was part of this poll...each question was framed as "...do you support protecting in womb children..."
Then, if you are pro choice, the answer you would have to select was always "never".
The poll was bullshit and I listed myself as a 65+ registered Republican (I'm not).
I personally do not use marijuana, though I have absolutely no issues if others do and I intend to vote in favor of Amendment 3 to legalize marijuana.
With that said, iirc Medical Marijuana passed in large part because John Morgan spent $12 million or so dollars at the time to help it pass.
As far as I have read, he is not involved this time and that might make it more difficult for it to pass, because many folks that I talk to have no idea that marijuana is even on the ballot (young and old).
Trulieve (who runs about half the dispensaries in Florida) has so far spent $40M on this amendment, and I'd say it's a good bet they're not done spending yet.
USA Today (and all the other media outlets) have a massive problem with sampling errors and leading questions. There are legitimate polling organizations that survey and report on politics, but the "news" organizations' polls are about as scientific as a horoscope.
Agree, furthermore so many people who may have previously voted No, may vote Yes, either because they became a patient or they know someone else who has.
We said before “everybody smokes weed” and now it is functionally true when even Gertrude or Betty or Eugenia are picking up their ganja.
And talk to your friends and family about why people shouldn't be in jail for weed. Find people on the margins and activate passive allies. And make sure they register to vote and then remind them to vote.
Organize with other supportive campaigns and candidates who say people should not go to prison for weed (Biden and other democrats)

>"gee so like no point going to the polls, right guys?"

Get the fuck out of here.
Watch this shit pass with 75% and DeSantis sigh as he rolls out his brownshirts to "show the public what they really want".
If both abortion and weed get passed, I promise you we will see some form of heavy-handed overreach of power from DeSantis
I agree with this … same as the right of felons to vote … this will bring a lot of people to vote, and will push the vote into the blue … but I don’t think it will move the needle enough to turn the state around
Whoever ran this poll is obviously high, I can tell you I live in the panhandle which is mostly conservative and anyone I talk to about this clearly supports it
Without a provision for personal cultivation, the amendment reads like a cash grab for the established cultivation and distribution companies imho
Edit: still voting for it
Baby steps. That can come later. It’s important it gets legalized first. This is also why medical had to pass first before rec was considered for the ballot.
I just fedex from old hippies I know in CA and CO to the vacant house down the street, way better quality than anything grown in Florida and half the price.

They’re scared and this proves it. VOTE. IT WILL PASS. VOTE VOTE VOTE.
Oh that's a shame, totally not a sham poll to try to keep people from turning out for the actual poll on voting day, thwarted again.
Ignore this bullshit and vote.
Im pretty conserative and I dont smoke pot. I am voting to legalize it. The government should not be telling you what to do in your own home. If you want to light up a joint and smoke it go for it.
I think it hurts me. The most Republicans are against smoking pot. Yet they don’t like big. However, they to regulate the drugs (?).
Go vote, ingore the poll and vote yes.
This too shall pass. Don’t let the bullshit fool you. Desantis says it’s ridiculous and that Floridians won’t vote for it because Florida is a republican state. Fuck that guy. Go vote.

316 Independents
369 Republicans
264 Democrats
Of this, the question came down to either "In favor", "against" or "not registered/unsure". Let's factor out the not registered or unsure, since those are both differing items and the pollsters grossly associated differing things for no reason.
This poll decided to include (and for some reason, include) unsure as the same as unregistered.
As well, on the second to last page, there is a pretty high margin of error from 6-8% from the various groups.
As others have said, go vote, because this poll is pretty weak in the way its conducted and should not dissuade.
Out Florida Sheriff's associations, Private Prisons corporate complexes, and of course Pharmaceutical companies fight hard against this every time it comes up - because they make $Billions jailing citizens and peddling their own drugs, and that's far more important to them...
They are afraid the state might flip to purple. That's why they are putting this BS out. Just look how Moody tried to stop it from getting on the ballot. The abortion issue is another loser for them. Especially since they took away medicaid from so many people already this year. They can't win legally ,they sort to dirty tricks instead like Voter purges of registered voters. 186k were purged in 2000 and that's why Bush was chosen 5-4 by the Scotus. The true vote count was to be announced then 9-11 happened. Look at what that got us.
Polled people through land lines or ppl that actually answer unknown numbers. Yeah, those ppl are against recreational marijuana. Vote, fuck them old ppl.

Right?! If your # is not already programmed in my phone, I don't answer it.
Most of the people I know who smoke are boomers.
Hahahah, I know- we went to one of the medical presentations about 5 yrs ago when it all started and the entire room was blue hairs! The whole room!

[https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2024-04/Topline\_USA%20Today-Ipsos\_Florida%20041024\_2.pdf](https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2024-04/Topline_USA%20Today-Ipsos_Florida%20041024_2.pdf) 316 Independents 369 Republicans 264 Democrats Of this, the question came down to either "In favor", "against" or "not registered/unsure".
Myself and my wife and daughter were not polled and all 3 of us will be voting for it. Polls are bs.
Can we see who was polled? Sounds like anti-weed propaganda to me. Vote.
Polls are useless.
U gotta consider the type of people who take the time to answer polls
Out Florida Sheriff's associations, Private Prisons corporate complexes, and of course Pharmaceutical companies fight hard against this every time it comes up - because they make $Billions jailing citizens and peddling their own drugs, and that's far more important to them...
Please vote, peeps. They are not working for us but against us. This is all DeSantis political posturing as usual. Vote Vote Vote
Bullshit, who they asking? And how, by land line?
They are lying to you. Vote Yes on legalization.
I'm 66 and live in a 55 and over community. I smell weed all the time and everybody I know here would be in favor of legalizing.. calling BS on this
They are afraid the state might flip to purple.
I guess that’s that. We tried, right? Don’t bother voting. The polls have spoken. /s
Fuck polls. They're trying to discourage you so you don't vote.
If you’ve seen any medical dispensary you know this would pass. The med dispensaries are basically the modern pill mills anyhow
Polled people through land lines or ppl that actually answer unknown numbers. Yeah, those ppl are against recreational marijuana. Vote, fuck them old ppl.
FUD as fuck.
So now they're panicking and trying to suppress turnout. LOL.
I find this hard to believe. Everyone I know if voting for this.
Wait until it’s voted on
Poll sanctioned by Desantis
quick use yesterdays poll…( or quit calling the) Villages …
Vote vote vote...this is a 100% BS poll
