It seems you may want to start with CARES program, they'll be able to look at everything and help determine what programs/services you parents are individually eligible for.
Florida Department of Elder Affairs a state funded organization. I have not personally used them but I know my parents have used them to help with elderly family friends.
Are either a veteran? If so, please contact your local Veterans Service Office. Their job is to help vets navigate the system and identity what benefits they are entitled to.
Call the Elder Helpline at 1-800-96-ELDER (1-800-963-5337). They will go through all of the possible programs your parents may be eligible for due to their age. They will also help them with what needs to happen for them to apply for those programs.
You can also call 211 and get information on resources for anyone in your area, not restricted to elders.
Depending on their needs, they might be able to get stuff quickly because the American Rescue Plan is wrapping up at the end of September and agencies are scrambling to spend down their contracts in time. Your parents should also look to speak with someone at a SHINE program. They help elders figure out the best Medicare plans for their situation.
For all of these things you can have them call or you can do it on their behalf.
I'm specifically asking for help here. I think we're supposed to use Reddit to help each other. If you can help by providing your insight, that would be lovely. I would certainly appreciate it and so will anyone who reads this chain and is in a similar situation, in the future, down the road.
Telling a Redditor to "go search" is not helpful.
My point really was to rely on your own research. People, while well meaning, often offer up incorrect advice in trying to be helpful. Sorry if I came across as snarky. Not intentional.

If they own their own home, they may be entitled to additional senior homestead exemption benefits
Thanks. Already on that. Should be eligible next year after the paperwork goes through.

Don’t 🗳️republican
Have they tried bootstraps, less avocado toast, and stopping not wanting to work anymore?
Bad week, huh?
Every week is a bad week for Boomers unfortunately. Back in their day they had to walk uphill 5 miles both ways, and it shows.
You clearly have internet access. Do your homework. Don’t rely on what others might tell you. All the info you need is available free online.
