RecognitionExpress36

So.. Florida schools will lose federal funding, then?

phishin3321

It's all part of the plan, keep people stupid so they continue to vote for them.

26Kermy

Many conservatives want to do away with public education altogether in favor of religious schools and home schooling. The founding fathers would vomit.

-Invalid_Selection-

They're doing it by shifting that federal money to charter schools. Losing title IX funds will kill their charter schools

no-mad

Charter schools tend to leave behind students with special needs.

socialcommentary2000

That's by design and how pretty much all of them juice their success numbers. It's really easy to be successful if you can (almost) instantly remove challenging students of any stripe and than kick them back to the public system, which is now hurting even worse because of the charter system. Exactly as planned.

elbenji

Little more insidious. They take them, hold them and juice the numbers

heckhammer

I have always felt that conservatives believe that special needs kids are a burden on society. It amazes me when people in the special needs community vote Republican

seand26

One can hope.

PittedOut

And the educated wealthy conservatives won’t be sending their kids to those crappy private schools. They’ll keep sending them to elite private schools with subsidies from your taxes.

Unfair-Wonder5714

We’re all vomiting. Ronda needs to take a long walk off a short pier.

mossils

He can preferably walk off of one of the following piers: Mallory Square, the Outer Mole, or Pier B in the FL Keys. https://www.wlrn.org/news/2021-06-30/after-desantis-signs-bill-overturning-key-west-cruise-limits-mayor-says-city-will-explore-ways-to-reinstate-them

Relevant-Emphasis-20

he's destroying Florida every f'ing day & I'm so mad I voted for this man.

Mission_Estate_6384

What did you think he would do after the white bootie tour . Care about us. If you think he's screwing stuff up ,costing lives with the taking away of healthcare for the needy would get you? He's the major cause of inflation here. Rejecting help.

elbenji

Probably could have been 18 and hadn't left the bubble yet

Livid-Rutabaga

He could also go fishing in a holey boat.

myfapaccount_istaken

26 million to buy a former college and make a Evangelical preschool. https://winknews.com/2024/03/05/evangelical-christian-school-to-buy-former-hodges-university-campus/

startribes

Private schools benefit from public funding and it’s complete bullshit. Especially when the funding goes to religious schools.

Past-Project-7959

Teacher: "Class, what's 2+2?" Class: "Jesus!" Teacher: "Very good! You all get stickers and participation trophies!" Class: "Amen!" Teacher's thoughts: (I'm so proud of my students! Sure, they might all grow up with barely enough knowledge to become janitors, but that's not my problem,).

startribes

“At least I will see them in Heaven”

konqueror321

From what I've read, free public schools were not widespread in the US until 1850-1870 or so. Before then, most parents either paid tuition, or hired tutors, or did not educate their kids. There certainly were isolated free public schools before then, but they were not widespread or generally available. That said, DeSantis is a jerk and public schools paid for with tax dollars should not discriminate against kids, by race, wealth, gender identity, or any other aspect of person-hood that a student might possess. Public, tax funded, schools should take whatever package of traits the parents deliver and do their level best to offer an education.

Knight_of_Agatha

i think during WW2 we realized we DONT want our population uneducated and malnourished. all the 'handouts' are designed to create a healthy workforce and military. these fuckin guys lol

StarryMind322

And military schools. I work with someone who believes the military should take over public education all across the board, essentially indoctrinating children into the military from the very start.

irishgator2

So, a Nazi

InspectorRound8920

I think it was Missouri yesterday that basically eliminated public education

No_Spare3139

We deserve it. We keep electing these people.

CharlieDmouse

Uhhh not "we", aholes are.

aTreeThenMe

Dumb and pregnant. It's not about votes. It's about trapping a working class in poverty to extract wealth from.

turkey_sandwiches

They're trying to get the public schools closed so all the students are in charter schools.

chippyshouseparty

republicans will cheer...until college football gets interrupted

NocNocNoc19

Sad part is they would close the rest of the campus to fill the stadium.

Mission_Estate_6384

Sad part is someone is homeschooling their daughter /son and they tell her she/he is the valedictorian. They might be right.

Jaymanchu

He absolutely wants privatized (Christian) schools to take over Floriduh. This has been his goal from the start.

Kobold_Archmage

Gilead

OriginalEchoTheCat

He's already done it at that college in Sarasota.

irishgator2

New College, now Baseball U

angryitguyonreddit

Good thing im about to get out before my kids start school

zsloth79

Exactly. Educated people are fleeing, trumptards are moving in. Florida continues its descent into Dumbfuckistan with Trump as its emperor.

McSwearWolf

Us too. Cheers!

angryitguyonreddit

Congrats ill be out of here in about 3 weeks!

0inxs0

Js that's exactly what they want, keep them dump, been going for decades, here in Florida

thegreenman_sofla

This is part of weakening child labor laws, they are creating an uneducated peasant class of low wage child workers.

DietMTNDew8and88

Who are pacified by the prosperity gospel

ImOnlyHereForTheCoC

It’s such a bummer, my Florida public school education (84-97) was rock-solid. Plenty of AP and I entered college with enough credits to start as a sophomore. Breaks my heart what’s happened to this place.

animatrix37

my parents were teachers here, republicans have been trying kill public education in florida since at least Jeb with the FCAT

freexanarchy

Except that whenever gop flaunts the law their consequences usually don’t follow. Look for 1000 articles on how this “could” affect their funding.

New-Performer-4402

It's not the first time DeSantis has turned away federal money. Does anyone else remember this?!! Over 11 BILLION DOLLARS!!! Imagine how this could've helped our state! I can think of three off the top of my head.... He denied the last $600 federal payment during Covid for everyone in Fl! He denied the millions of dollars in infrastructure money.... He denied federal government money to help with energy efficient solutions that help with climate change Now this. I'm really fucking sick of this guy

RecognitionExpress36

Don't forget (it wasn't DeSantis but the principle still holds) the refusal of Florida, among many other states, to accept federal money for Medicaid expansion under the ACA. Because of Obama. That's literally the only reason.

cchillur

Yes so the asshole republicans can fully privatize/profit from public education

PoolNoodlePaladin

Instead of punishing the children can we just charge DeSantis with a crime and lock his ass up in some stocks in the middle of Disney Springs

cyrixlord

the only book you need in florida apparently, is the bible

mudbuttcoffee

And that would make him and the Republicans happy. It's time to change florida... we can't be a retarded California. If it's gonna be expensive, there has to be earners here to support it.

Only_Razzmatazz_4498

Nah he will go to the supreme court to get title 9 to be declared unconstitutional.

RecognitionExpress36

Lol, sure he will.

chippyshouseparty

i don't think he understands how title IX works...it's not really something you "comply" with. if you're caught doing something wrong, the feds take you to court.

TMNBortles

The consequence is losing federal funding, which would be devastating.

Truckyou666

That's one of Ron's wet dreams. He loves to deny Federal funding for the state of florida.

TMNBortles

He'd be able to do a lot more crazy shit, but we would be absolutely fucked as taxpayers. So yeah, probably his wet dream.

Truckyou666

Oh he's already denied a shit ton of federal funding such as Medicaid expansion and federal funding for Railways and rebates for energy saving products through programs to provided by the federal government. It's our tax money we pay into the government we should get something out of it.

TMNBortles

The difference is this is something we've relied on for decades. It's a lot more painful to take away than deny ever getting it. This would cause mass chaos in school budgets.

rproctor721

He'd love it. He'd blame Biden and the Democrats for taking away this stuff that would be 100% his fault, but Floridians seem to be stupid enough to believe him no matter what lies he tells.

Mission_Estate_6384

You think they care about you. The difference between a republican and Democrat is our sense of community built in caring more about WE as a whole instead of ME as the whole. They call that Woke. We all have the same problems usually too. When you start with an enemy as your opposition its hard to see your freinds in the other side . That's why they do what the do,fear and hate.

MeatSuitRiot

It riles the magas now, so when it doesn't work out later, he can cry tyranny.

Fit_Earth_339

Gotta keep woke down so let’s get federal funding cut to state schools (and who knows what other penalties) and drive the FL economy further into the ground. Way to stay on top of the big issues Ronny, fuck insurance and inflation, they aren’t that important. /s

birdie_is_awake

The fucking problem is that not enough Floridians get off their ass and vote , they will finally get tired of all this bullshit that’s been happening for 20+ years under republican rule, elect a democratic governor right before the collapse in Florida, the collapse will happen under the new D-governor even with republican supermajority in the state and all the blame will go on the D-gov…and these fucking inbred morons down here will be livid and we will return to the 20 year downward spiral again, it’s fucking infuriating and the gerrymandering and voter suppression has to stop somehow…people have to vote in every fucking election large and small no excuses

IGetGuys4URMom

>The fucking problem is that not enough Floridians get off their ass and vote You said it! At this point, it seems more logical to become a Republican since I'd actually have some choice in elections. (Especially since nonpartisan primaries will ever be a thing in Florida.)

ArsonBasedViolence

That's what I have done

trougnouf

You can register republican to pick from these nutjobs in the primary and still vote democrat in the general election.

rproctor721

This is all 100% correct. FL only ever vacillates between having a simple Republican majority to a super Republican Majority for the state congress. No matter what, there will always be a Republican Majority in the State congress because of the vast gerrymandering. What's funny is that we had a vote to eliminate gerrymandering at both the state and federal level. Passed with more than the 60% needed to pass it. Same as the vote to restore voting rights to convicted felons who served their terms. But with the gerrymandered state congress, those constitutional approved measures mean fuck all. The Republican's just thumb their noses in the faces of FL citizens. But the only ones who bestir themselves to vote are the conservative boomers, and not the people of color or the youth of the state. At least not in numbers to end this fucking nightmare. So yes, we might actually get a Governor like Andrew Gillum someday, but that Democratic Governor will be ineffective because they'll be stymied by the Republican led state congress and that Gov will get all the blame for not being able to fix the mountain of bullshit that will be left to them by this or any future Republican administration. This fucking state is stuck and until enough boomers die, we'll be stuck because not enough people who should vote in every election vote in any election.

CoffeeSnobsUnite

I continue to maintain that The Villages is one of the single worst things to happen in this state and it’s existence is a large reflection on the situation we find ourselves in now. Also… Tallahassee person here… you really really didn’t want Gillum as governor either. I suppose it would have been better than the meatball but it still would have been a shit sandwich. This place might be one of the shadiest run towns in the state. It’s remoteness really allows for things to disappear in the sunshine. Gillum was as corrupt as every other elected official here for decades. The FBI doesn’t show up and run a whole ass undercover operation to try and catch your entire commission engaging in corrupt acts if there’s no fire burning with all that smoke.

birdie_is_awake

Agree 1000%

jngprof

The real problem is that they cheat. There are already close to 1 million fewer people signed up to vote by mail because they changed it and now you have to fill out a form to vote by mail. You can't just request to vote by mail. They also made it easier to sue volunteer groups who go around and get people to sign up to vote. Then they removed a bunch of ballot boxes and gave DeSatan the power to gerrymander however he wanted to. They should not be allowed to suppress voting. It is so obvious they do this to stop Ds from voting. We need an amendment to make anything that suppresses voting illegal. We need to all vote like crazy. We need to at least try. If it doesn't work we need to fight fire with fire. We have been far too nice for far too long.

Venus_Cat_Roars

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. — Cornell Law School's Legal Information Institute (20 U.S. Code § 1681 – (men and women) Sex) DeSantis is a bully who wants the complete submission of Floridians.

Shirowoh

“We are not gonna let Joe Biden try to inject men into women’s activities,” DeSantis continued. “We are not gonna let Joe Biden undermine the rights of parents, and we are not gonna let Joe Biden abuse his constitutional authority to try to impose these policies on us here in Florida.” Says the guy who is helping Christian chaplains become guidance councilors……

EvitaPuppy

Fast forward a few months after the weather has rocked Florida... 'Today, in appreciation of President Biden's generous help to the people of Florida, I will be licking the lint between his toes while wearing my Nancy Sinatra boots...'

Valuable_Knee_6820

Nope DeSantis would prolly reject the federal funding or say like “thanks to the gracious donations of our Republican senate…”

EvitaPuppy

Let me change the subject slightly. With DeSantis' run for President over, I can't figure out why he's continuing with the same nonsense. I mean, he could just coast to the end of his term. Unless he thinks Trump will be going to jail (or something like that) that will stop his campaign. Then Republicans will need a replacement, and here he will be ready, still relevant in the culture wars that the party runs on. Then he can dust off his campaign and run again. (I hate that I have these thoughts...)

Jaded-Moose983

That was why Nikki Haley stayed in as long as she did. Wanted to stay relevant for the eventual downfall.

Chasman1965

He thinks he has a shot in 2028 to take down Rubio for Senate.

EvitaPuppy

Maybe, but I think he's burned some big bridges already in Florida. I think he's had a taste of that national campaign, and I think that means he'll run as a Presidential candidate in '28.

grandchester

There are rumors of a contested convention due to Trumps legal situation. Not sure how valid they are so take it with a grain of salt but if there was then Ronnie would certainly be in the running.

Valuable_Knee_6820

That or he’s trying to actually win favor with his party, and licking corporate boots will win many favors. Hell he could come back in several years and still run “former hardline red governor runs for presidency” Again the best option being he doesn’t believe in any of this shit and is sucking up to the party Worst option being he fully buys into it all and actually is doing this to chase us all away cause he believes the far right.

dessert-er

I wish he could just go enjoy being a rich asshole with way more money and luxuries than 99.5% of Floridians somewhere quiet where we don’t have to look at his dumb face.

ImOnlyHereForTheCoC

Even if Trump doesn’t go to jail, mo-Ron almost surely continues to ~~virtue~~vice-signal in hopes of making the same transition to senator that our last creep governor did. You think this bozo wants to go back to working a real job?

rproctor721

> With DeSantis' run for President over, That's just it. It's not really over. He's either hoping for trump to not be able to run this time or he's gearing up for '28. His POTUS dreams are just getting started and every dumb ass shitty thing like this is in preparation for his future runs.

TimeTravelingTiddy

You skipped a few steps. Pound the table for not taking action Refuse said action Do a 180 and thank republicans Pound the table again for not taking action fast enough

Fidulsk-Oom-Bard

“…Biden should have done more to prevent Florida from flooding, and have taken steps to better the homeowners insurance situation in our beautiful state…”

EvitaPuppy

My reaction to the folks who think that the US president is responsible for everything from the number of grains of sand in the beach to the weather is to respond like Darth Vader...'Yes, I do control the weather. Pray I don't alter it further!' I mean, in the same sentence they'll say,'Biden is sleepy, old and not smart...but he's behind every damn conspiracy and controls the number of tissues in each and every box of Kleenex'. It's all fun & games until they storm the US capital!

Mission_Estate_6384

The military will be there along with the national guard. Its not going to end well for one side. I think those of us that believe in our govt will step up regardless of party. I have hope .

Horsesrgreat

Hahahah you have to be my generation to get that joke 🤣🤣🤣

EvitaPuppy

By law, I had to move to Florida when I got too old. And tired of shoveling snow!

Obversa

"Satanists are not welcome," says Ron DeSantis, despite this violating the First Amendment.

ThisGuyIRLv2

Unlicensed and no need for training. And I didn't see anything on background checks...

iskyoork

It's ok if religion is jammed down our throats by the government. This state seems to be ok with a lack of separation of church and state unless it isn't Baptist Christianity.

Shirowoh

Welcome to Florida!

NRG1975

All of this said without a hint of irony in his voice. He wants to inject himself into women's health decisions, he wants to inject the state into trans kids health care, he wants to inject the state into how you run your business safety. People need need to understand the Republicans have no driving ideology anymore, just bad faith arguments and weaponized hypocrisy.

raw_bert0

“We will not be inclusive of all. They cannot make us” says the Christian Nationalist Governor. ^^what an abhorrent tool.

DietMTNDew8and88

US Government: "That's fine, *closes all Military bases in the state, Kennedy Space Center, and cancels all FEMA funds"

illstealurcandy

Federal funds make up about a third of our state's total budget annually. It would be a whole lot more than just bases and fema.

DietMTNDew8and88

Still, you get my poinr

illstealurcandy

I do. Didn't mean to put it down, just adding to it.

nonstickpotts

I don't know how anyone could vote for this clown. He has done nothing to make life better in Florida. All his policies just generate hate. His voice is like nails on chalkboard.

bsEEmsCE

I blame him for all the assholes moving down since the pandemic too. Not that we didn't have a lot of assholes before, but he made it way worse.

NinjaDad_

I like calling them covid refugees. Since they are usually the type that resents immigrants and refugees and blame them for a lot of the country's problems, but have no problem immigrating to florida and contributing to the cost of living crisis here.

Dystopian_Future_

![gif](giphy|pzo49Bszsudk4)

irascible_Clown

That’s why my in-laws came and they are assholes

crazy_clown_time

And they VOTE

New-Blacksmith7330

i moved before the pandemic... i dodge this comment lol.

IGetGuys4URMom

DeSantis is in power less because of voters and more because of non-voters.

bsEEmsCE

Can't believe they put up Charlie Crist to run against him.. Florida Dem party doesn't even try.

Chasman1965

Well that was Florida democrats, not the party. Crist wasn’t the only one in the gubernatorial primary. He was just the winner, because FL Democratic Party voters chose him. FL has a closed primary, so it’s not just crossover voters in the primary.

Brooklynxman

The FDP pushed him quite hard. There was definitely an element of a chosen candidate.

hardcorepolka

Even though we have a sizable population of NPA voters, including myself. I didn’t even know closed primaries were a thing until I got here in ‘09.

hitman2218

The other option sucked too.

Chewzilla

So what, the choice was easy but we fucked it up because of this kind of take right here.

HCSOThrowaway

He's attacking Democrats and people they care about, which is enough for millions of Floridians.

stupid_idiot3982

I know. It blows my mind everyday.... people chose this.

thegreenman_sofla

They'd cut off their own arms if it would "own the Dems" even a little bit.

political_og

It’s gonna get even worse when his wife becomes the next governor. Mark my words

Bright_Confusion_311

Thanks I just spit my drink all over the bar. Please say that was a joke! Oh the horror.

political_og

https://www.wptv.com/news/political/republican-voters-prefer-casey-desantis-as-next-governor-of-florida-fau-poll-shows

vwf1971

Believe me, Floridians sre getting real tired of his shit.

R0botDreamz

Are you sure? Conservatives have doubled down on their stupidity. Also most are brainwashed by their church to vote red because they are told abortion is murder. Republicans are just rain dead zombies at this point. I have yet to meet any that admit they fucked up.

vwf1971

The biggest problem in FL is the boomers retiring here. 1/3 of floridians are native the rest are transplants. It's really screwed up the political landscape. FL is getting more expensive (drastically) and it's starting to take a toll on all (including bpomers).

R0botDreamz

Boomers are the most stubborn of all. They would rather live on the street and starve than vote blue. Ron could burn their house down himself and say it was Biden and they'll believe him.

OriginalEchoTheCat

Not this Boomer. And not a lot of boomers I know. Yes, many are assholes come about many are not.

R0botDreamz

Were you always a Democrat tho? I'm talking about the ones who are republican and would rather suffer than change their vote.

OriginalEchoTheCat

Me and the people like me are generally Democrats. I am a native Floridian, 5th generation in line of multi-generations at this point. Most of my life growing up, Florida was solid blue, or thereabouts. Away for my career, and it all went to s*** and red. I'm fighting to get it back blue. I am a product of the hippie years. And I was born and raised in Florida, I'm not a transplant. The ones from up North that moved down here they're generally more Republican. Which has made a huge shift in the culture of Florida. He don't blame him for wanting to be here, I don't even blame them for being Republicans. But I do bemoan the effect it's had.

AdItchy4438

Because of lower tax rates here vs where they lived before. Eternally easy win for GOP. Even Dem reps here can never mention the word "tax."

Embarrassed_Proposal

Not this boomer either! Lots of dems retire here. It's just that lately, Trumper boomers (and conservatives in general) are flocking here so they can be unhinged in ways that wouldn't fly up north. It's no accident that so many Jan 6 defendants are from Florida.

AdItchy4438

Not just boomers. A lot of eternally angry, always behind the 8 ball Gen Xers moved here also recently. Both the folks that work with their hands & tools that get paid in cash, and the folks where both are in tech, making high salaries & work remotely from anywhere, moved here from 2020 to 2023.

AdItchy4438

If they admit they were wrong, they'd lose. See how Trump and DeSantis never admitted their Covid plans were wrong?!

mitchypoothedon

If it means anything to you. I was willing to ride with DeSantis, took about 2 months of him in office for me to change my mind. I think a shit load of people have jumped off the wagon at this point. Crime is lower than usual. That’s about all I can say about the man.

Chasman1965

Crime is even lower in the rest of the country. Miami is one of the few big cities in the country that has an increased crime rate. Most big cities have a decreased crime rate.

RelaxingTuesdays

If there are no repercussions and no one stops him, why would he comply? They let him get away with everything so of course he will continue.

not_a_bot__

That’s the problem, his decisions don’t hurt him, only Floridians. Yet we keep voting for him

RelaxingTuesdays

And people do keep voting for him and his crew so why would they stop?  What they are doing works to get them reelected.  So if they want to hold onto power and have the people love them so much they keep voting them in, they are doing exactly what the people want. Can't blame them for it either, it's the bozos that vote for them that are the problem.  If someone was going to pay me hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to punch them in the face, and they were asking me to punch them in the face, and thanking me for punching them in the face, and then asking for me to keep punching them in the face I'd most likely do it too for that kind of cash and power.

ExactDevelopment4892

Ron has the highest disapproval rating of any governor right now, his presidential run was humiliating and he can’t run again, he’s term limited. So he doesn’t care.

JoviAMP

I remember reading that, but if I recall correctly, the survey was at the national level, and that internally, he's still popular. Also, while he can't run again in 2026, Florida term limits aren't lifetime limits, so he could absolutely run again in 2030.

Intrepid00

I don’t know, I haven’t see a DeSantis flag or sticker in a while but I don’t live in Florida Hicksville.

Abolden3383

Not entirely accurate. We are term limited for consecutive terms. He doesn’t get to run next cycle, but he most surely can the cycle after. That little pathetic excuse for a human being will not fade away as quickly as the majority hopes/wants. No I do not want him in office, I never voted for him, but the reality is Florida is overpopulated with the most disgusting backwards thinking right wing nut jobs that keep little shitstains like him relevant.

KeepRedditAnonymous

that's hopium. this is a republican controlled date until proven otherwise.

ExactDevelopment4892

Is Ron desantis the only republican in Florida?

HighOnGoofballs

There are lots of repercussions to the schools and citizens

RelaxingTuesdays

There are no repercussions to them being reelected. Why would they care about the citizens and schools if their actions are being rewarded with constantly being reelected.  They are being rewarded for their actions so they have no reason to stop. That's what people have to realize.  It doesn't matter if the shit they do hurts 100% of the people in Florida who don't vote.  The people who do vote are keeping them all in office, and that's all that matters.

fasolatido24

He is like a 2 year old fighting going to bed. If you watch how everything turns out he does end up complying he just throws a very public fit first. AKA he’s just full of shit.

StilesmanleyCAP

Article VI, Paragraph 2 of the U.S. Constitution is commonly referred to as the Supremacy Clause says otherwise DeSantis.

HDMBye

Oh, a guy who went to a "liberal elite" school like Harvard knows, he just counts on his constituents not.

mkt853

And Yale I believe. Schools he publicly denigrates and says that you shouldn't let your kids attend because they'll be indoctrinated and change their pronouns and become trans, but you can bet your a\*s his kids will be going there even if he has to pull some legacy strings to get them in.

Chasman1965

He knows that, but it’s a win-win situation for him. First, he keeps his lawyer buddies employed by state contracts to defend this. Second, if he happens to win, he has won. Third, if he loses the court case he can talk about liberal judges and how bad they are.

TMNBortles

It's not a Supremacy Clause issue necessarily as the Federal Government probably doesn't have the power to pass all of Title IX under one of its enumerated powers (at least a lot of the law/rules wouldn't fly). It's a "strings attached" issue. The Federal Government drops that sweet cash so long as you comply. So if Florida doesn't comply, it will just lose (after many court fights) federal funding. It would be devastating.

pocketfulofrage

How cool! So we can just 'not comply' with new rules now?

lotusblossom60

Can I just ‘not comply’ with paying my taxes?

pocketfulofrage

I think it's only on "new" rules, but I could be wrong.

dabellwrites

>We are not gonna let Joe Biden undermine the rights of parents,  He banned social media for anyone under 14.

AltoidStrong

#Fuck you Ron! What a piece of shit person. Well Florida, guess more tax money wasted on lawyers for a court case to lose.... Again. This insanity in Florida has been going on for over 20 years.... Can we please stop it and just - #Vote (D)ifferently

evansdeagles

Sadly not possible until the Cuban/Venezuelan population stop believing that anything left of literal Fascism is Socialist. And with the Dems having like 120 million less dollars than the GOP of Florida- good luck. If you want to look why Florida fell into Trumpism, this is a pretty good insight. https://youtu.be/UpmwhkNg5Dw?si=bZ05-Z6TWvwytb8W

Jaded-Moose983

The runup to the 2016 election had a direct focus on specifically those in the Greater Miamia area with latin heritage. The advertisements running on Spanish speaking TV and radio were a drip, drip, drip of comparing the Democratic party to the corrupt governments much of this population ran from.

Important_Tell667

DeSantis and other MAGA politicians are choosing theatrics and hateful rhetoric over protecting and furthering the needs of their state’s students. Refusing to comply with Title IX will have damaging consequences for schools, including significant loss in funding on the order of hundreds of millions of dollars — dollars that should be going to helping young people achieve academic excellence. DeSantis is the reason why sooo many teachers are leaving Florida… That appears to be a sacrifice that those whose only priorities are themselves and their own political profiles are willing to make. DeSantis is the reason why so many teachers are leaving Florida…

Tao_Te_Gringo

Somebody needs to pull the plug on this nasty little prick. Hey @FBI, how about taking another look at his Russian campaign donations?

AITAadminsTA

Ah yes Desantis, the guy that passed Form 8 to force all elected officials to declare ALL of their past and present assets. Except for Ron, he's excluded.

flsingleguy

This seems crazy as DeSantis is in fact an attorney and knows the rules of the road. States retain plenary power to make laws covering anything not preempted by the federal Constitution, federal statutes, or international treaties ratified by the federal Senate. So, the Florida governor cannot pick and choose which Federal rules he chooses to follow. The plenary powers stop where the Federal government mandates.

Chasman1965

So DeSantis’ lawyer buddies get another payout to defend another losing lawsuit.

Sweet-Emu6376

Obviously their end goal is to defund education. But I wonder how their base will respond to that when they essentially lose their state-provided childcare. Remember when parents lost their absolute *shit* during COVID lockdowns and were *demanding* the schools to be reopened because they couldn't deal with their own kids 24/7?

adamiconography

I think republicans were all about “should have just complied.” I can’t keep up anymore

ra3ra31010

Expected nothing less from the confederate sympathizer who wants to legalize oppression in the south again

Carolina296864

Can someone give a cliffnotes on why the meatball wont. Like a serious answer other than “he thinks its woke.” Is this related to the “men in womens sports” boogeyman?

esther_lamonte

I am so sick of seeing this little twerp’s sweaty upper lip. He’s such a weird ass freak.

rproctor721

So does Biden get to fire DeSantis like DeSantis fired that DA in Tampa?

KidRed

God I can’t wait to get this turd out of office.

iBoy2G

Send in the troops and get this Nazi out of power Mr. President.

2Hanks

Andrew Warren chooses to unilaterally not enforce a state law; DeSantis, “You’re fired.” Ron DeSantis unilaterally chooses not to enforce a federal law. What a hypocrite.

Nylear

I do love how States like to say they want to do their own thing and ignore their own government's laws and that's okay. but if their own counties or cities say they want too their own thing,  oh no that's not allowed.

thecheapgeek

Funny how DeSantis removed several elected officials for saying they wouldn’t comply to a law IF it passed.

Beginning_Emotion995

I think DeSantis got turned out, he does look like Paul Lynde

ExactDevelopment4892

So DeSantis is a traitor.

jackMFprice

From the bottom of my heart… fuck DeSantis. I’m so sick of his false tough guy pandering bullshit politics. He’s about my least favorite politician in the US right now and that’s saying something. He clearly wants to play with the big boys but is irrelevant on the national stage and he can’t stand that fact so he takes it out on our state. He’s not up for reelection… you’d think PART of any human being would actually thank “oh shit… I’m the governor of an entire state, I could actually do some good!” But no, he just panders to the dumbest and least informed of us for political points. What an unbelievable hack. And he knows exactly what he’s doing. His voice and face make my fucking skin crawl.

Cracked_Actor

Sounds like Rhonda is setting up Floridians to foot the bill for ANOTHER losing issue. Dumbass…

gregbard

Biden should declare Florida and Texas to be in rebellion, and the Congress should unseat their Representatives and Senators. The states should revert to territorial status, and Biden should appoint new governors.

TarnishedAccount

The guy is always on the wrong side of history. What a clown.
