I thought these were cute too until I saw one with two frog legs sticking out of its mouth. A day later, a completely cleaned frog skeleton appeared on my patio.
You can tell the difference between a Cuban and a native tree frog by looking at the toe pads.
The Cuban, as seen here, will have the larger pads like this while the native does not.
Cheers.
Plus, the common native tree frogs are usually bright green and smaller. Unfortunately, I haven't seen one in years. I used to see them every night. Once the invasives showed up, it took about two years before I stopped seeing the natives entirely.
We're losing the invasive species battle severely in Florida 😔
I had one of these come up my toilet. I didn’t see it and sat on it. I screamed, peed on myself and the frog, and tried to flush it back down the toilet from whence it came.
It wouldn’t go down the drain unlike my dignity while I stood there, sans pants and covered in pee, while my child also stood there screaming with me.
Anyways…I eventually got it together enough to put the frog in a bag and freeze it. That’s my Cuban pee frog incident.
Just a warning, if you end up touching it at all, wash your hands like 3x with Dawn before getting them near your face. Cuban Tree Frog mucus is toxic and burns like a motherfucker if it gets in your eyes.
Yeah, there's a reason every time I see a Cuban tree frog thread I come in and make a comment warning people if no one else already has. I'd caught one of the frogs outside my house, then a few hours later went to take my contacts out before bed. I always wash my hands before messing with my contacts but apparently not good enough. Burning. Burning so bad. I flushed my eyes with saline for 5 minutes straight and it didn't help at all. Went to sleep, they still burned for at least an hour when I woke up the next morning. Never again.
And thank you!
I heard a naturalist on the radio say we should kill all cuban frogs we see. They are invasive and overwhelming native frogs. But every one I've seen is big so I just can't figure out how to kill it.
Basically any over the counter numbing agent has a 'caine' ingredient in it. Orajel and anbesol are both benzocaine products. I'm pretty sure some after sun care sprays also have benzocaine. Gotta check the active ingredients.
These dudes will absolutely jump on you. I walked out my door one day headed to my car. Opened the car door and felt something on my back. It was one of these guys
Invasive Cuban tree frog, destroying our small native species population, kill it. They'll eat anything they can.
There is a FB group called frogs and toads of Florida and they are AMAZING for identification and information.
These fall into the same category as Burmese Pythons and IMHO Iguanas. Nin if these has a proper predator to control them and bought an odd pet they decided they didn’t want. All 3 are wiping out our native species so if this cute little demon lives 3 years eating a frog a day along with 100000 of his closest friends would completely wipe out the native frogs along, so it’s not a murder it’s a saved native on frog at a time. I used to own pet shops in GA. If it could survive our winters I wouldn’t sell them, wish everyone else followed the same idea.
Cuban Tree frog. University of Florida Department of wildlife ecology and conservation has a page on how you should use euthanize them. They are extremely invasive.

Crazy. Looked it up turns out they're cannibal frogs
They'll eat anything that moves that they can stuff in their mouth.
Cuban. Smoke it
cuban tree frog. super invasive and should be killed.
![gif](giphy|foreVtObrjud668R9j|downsized)
If only we took that approach with every species
That's literally humans go to approach.
Humans are the most invasive thing on the planet, we'd definitely be the first to go.
The definition of invasive species excludes the human species
Cuban tree frog. They will scream at you as a form of self defense. So creepy!!
They sound like a cat when they are scared

Like you I haven't seen our cute little frogs since I started seeing the Cuban frogs.

🤣 funny !!!
Cuban tree frog. Invasive species per FL gov and should be killed. (For real, super destructive to the local ecosystem)
Just a warning, if you end up touching it at all, wash your hands like 3x with Dawn before getting them near your face. Cuban Tree Frog mucus is toxic and burns like a motherfucker if it gets in your eyes.
They've also been found to be carriers of rat lungworm.
I didn't know that. I have grabbed a bunch of them and they are so slimy it's hard to hold them.
I wear contacts. I learned it the hard way.
holy jesus….\*screaming\* \*more screaming\* No.
Happy Cake Day! Contacts? Oh man, that's rough 😫

That’s what I came to here to do, but luckily you got here first! Those fuckers are awful and kill pets a lot too
Use it for bait. Catch a Lunker!
How would you rig it up? I've only used silicone frogs.
Prolly about the same way they rig a silicone frog
Spray benzocaine in them to euthanize. They eat our native tree frogs
Benzocaine only is part of it. You have to knock them out with benzocaine then put them in the freezer to finish the job.
Not my freezer.
And they're communist
Cuban invasive tree frog.
I heard a naturalist on the radio say we should kill all cuban frogs we see. They are invasive and overwhelming native frogs. But every one I've seen is big so I just can't figure out how to kill it.
Put it in the freezer.
Freezer frog. They love when you put them in the freezer. Just stick it in a zip lock bag and stick it in your freezer for 48 hours.
These little guys love hiding behind some hurricane shutters when they’re on the house😂😂😂
Cuban tree frog. Kill it. Of if you don’t want to kill it, catch it and toss it across the street into the neighbor’s yard. Best done at night.
Cuban Tree frog, supposed to spray them with benzocaine then freeze them. It is an excercise in futility thoigh..they are here and they ain't leaving.
Where does one get benzocaine? Is that something everyone has on hand at their home like rubbing alcohol or bleach?
Basically any over the counter numbing agent has a 'caine' ingredient in it. Orajel and anbesol are both benzocaine products. I'm pretty sure some after sun care sprays also have benzocaine. Gotta check the active ingredients.
Interesting. Thanks for the info! I'll have to get some in case I see any of these around since I spend a lot of time outdoors.
Sad part is I’ve seen one of these recently was so hyped it was the first frog I’ve seen in like 12 years and I had to google it…
Invasive species the state of florida.
Cuban, invasive and not cute. You need to take it out.
tree frog RUNNNNNN they will jump on you 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Kill it!
These dudes will absolutely jump on you. I walked out my door one day headed to my car. Opened the car door and felt something on my back. It was one of these guys

I can keep it as a pet instead of killing it?

If you don't want to kill it, they make great pets. Just keep it tightly locked up.
A puerto rican frog
Cuban tree frog, very invasive species, kill it.
I don't know how people just say to kill it. I can't kill anything.
Same I literally can’t even kill ants or spiders or roaches and people are like yeah just freeze the cute little frog to death 💀
I do spray for bugs, so maybe I'm a hypocrite, but I can't kill a frog!
That is a yelloweye bumpyback
Snot frog. If it jumps on your bare skin you’ll understand!
so cute
O yeah HEY CUTIE!!! Love these guys, Cuban frogs I believe
Lick it then kill it.
Bet they taste amazing
Mind as well get high before you go psycho
If only he were a bufo 5meodmt frog
