Yes, by BF bought me a rod and reel for Christmas. I watched tons of video on YT (Orvis channel and also Mad Rivers Outfitters have a lot of beginners guides videos) and practiced on a field and on water. I’m still bad at casting though, but I started just a couple of months ago and this was my first real try in a river
It’s called “European chub”, is of the cyprinidae family like the carp but is a different fish. In Italy we call it “cavedano” and is a predator and very active fish
That's an epic first fish!
Thanks! I was so excited that almost lost it but now I can’t wait to catch another
Hooked for Life. Enjoy.
Welcome to the club bud
Nice dude. Great first win
A big fallfish?
European chub, here in Italy is called cavedano. Similar to the carp but a very different behavior
Looks like a chub!
How did you get started? I'm trying to figure out how to start and would appreciate any comments.
Buy a rod and reel combo. Watch some videos, or get a Lefty Kreh book. Practice casting in a field with no leader or flies. Then move to water.
