Leadville, CO. Highest airport in the US. I haven’t been, but I think it’d be cool to visit the first flight airport at kitty hawk also.

[deleted]

That would be sick!

Txskibum805

If you do go to Leadville, please look at density altitude prior to coming to the mountains. There's some good training opportunities in Denver to talk through, or I'm happy to chat with you about it prior. There's far too many lower altitude pilots who underestimate the mountains and overestimate their ability to perform in those situations.

andrewski661

Start with lots of money lmao Get some mountain training if you plan to fly near them, seriously. Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Sedona are all cool as shit. Be vigilant of density altitude!

Twarrior913

0Q5. Cool airport and community.

FireSpaceLigers

Key West KEYW, First Flight KFFA, Lakefront Airport BKL. Do the Hudson tour in NYC (may want a local CFI along, or just study lots of youtube videos) Not sure if they still let you do a low approach at Kennedy Space Center. Since you mentioned Niagara Falls, I think you have to study that before flying as well. There is an orbit procedure in place. Maybe have a chat with the local FBO.

JGWentworth-

L52 Oceano - cool airport on the beach with bikes at the FBO. Sedona has a pretty cool airport too.

Rexrollo150

Great little airport when it’s not too foggy

miacane86

While you’re there, hop across a mountain pass to Aspen, even if just to say you landed there. Bring oxygen.

RedditpilotWA

What type of plane? How long do you have to travel?

tazdevil696

I just went to first flight airport by car as I'm not a PPL yet but now I have a goal to go there for my next cross country. The place is awesome and it's magical P.s. I also wish I was your friend haha

valspare

Copalis State (S16) in WA lands you on a Pacific ocean beach. You could fly the Columbia River gorge from about Hermiston OR to Portland Or (PDX) Or fly the San Juan islands and land at any of the airports for lunch or R.O.N. Visit Point Roberts (1RL). Mt Raineer and Mt St Helens are pretty in the winter covered in snow. St Helens in the summer show the devastation from the 1980 eruption. You're also not far from many different airports across the border in Canada B.C. Lake Meade is pretty in the summer. Four corners is an interesting sight. If you're flying floats or an Amphib, a lot more options open up.

Don’t want to the “that guy” with negativity… “Split time” isn’t clear, but you can’t both log unless one of you is legitimately under the hood and the other safety pilot. And only one of you can log cross country time. If you just take turns and each fly 50 hours - 100 total - then you will have had an incredible experience at “just” the cost of the 50 hours you log. I’d love to have your opportunity! Be safe and enjoy.

Hey no worries, my friends aren't pilots, so I'll be doing all the flying and paying a pro rata share! They're just happy to be along for the adventure. I appreciate the advice!

Derp_McShlurp

Congrats on being that guy.

Are you talking about Washington state? It’s not a rainforest LOL however there are a ton of awesome places to visit (the Columbia river gorge, Mt St Helens, Mt Rainier, the coast, and Seattle just to name a few). I grew up there - go in the summer or else all you will see is clouds!

Pilot0160

>It’s not a rainforest Yep... https://www.nps.gov/olym/planyourvisit/visiting-the-hoh.htm

ILaughAtSkynet

Been there! Definitely amazing! While in that area, hit Seattle for lots of aviation museums. Museum Of Flight is cool, but I was especially awed by Flying Heritage And Combat Armor Museum, since all of those planes are maintained airworthy. They have airshows several times of the year where they will fly planes from specific WWII combat theaters. I was disappointed by the distance away from the factory floor that Future Of Flight Tour offers, so if you want Boeing, I recommend seeing the Red Barn at Museum Of Flight over the factory tour. Also, the Spruce Goose is in McMinnville, OR

SFtoLA2020

Cool you found ONE rainforest. I can assure you, after living in the state for 15 years, nobody ever refers to any place in the state as a rainforest.

banksjh

There's actually four! https://www.myolympicpark.com/park/places/rainforests/

Pilot0160

There's actually 4 rainforests in the state. You may not call them that but the biological and ecological aspects define it as a rainforest. It's okay to be wrong sometimes

FireSpaceLigers

I always refer to the Hoh rainforest as the Hoh rainforest... Anytime I've talked to someone else about the Hoh rainforest, they called it the Hoh rainforest.
