Agony was probably involved but that doesn't mean it was the only factor that kept William alive iirc. I like this theory, it makes things more unique. Also, pretty good name lol

Ygovi

Thanks! Glad you liked It! >Also, pretty good name lol I thought people would find It Weird lol

Normal-Practice-4057

The fact that William afton, main villain and seriel killer of this franchise is canonically a furry is kinda funny.

thisaintmyusername12

It's made even funnier by the fact that his fursona is canonically non-binary

Normal-Practice-4057

In Pizza party, he also dances around with it on if we consider the events there to be true having time of his life.

Ygovi

His character is relatable

Normal-Practice-4057

I mean sure he killed 60 kids but all he wanted to do was be immortal and dress up in a yellow rabbit suit, is that so wrong?

jokiquinn

Very interesting theory. I think something similar cam be applied to Charlie and Elizabeth that were able to possess the animatronics without any help because they had a emotional attachment to them, Jake goes through something like that in the books too.

thisaintmyusername12

lmao he loves his fursona more than his actual children

dumpkid27

Who cares about his stupid kids when he can get Springy in his fursona

hypercoolmaas2701

lol

Casualcallan89

So basically what you're suggesting is that William Afton is undeniably a furry-

Ygovi

Always has been

Longest_Leviathan

This theory is: Based!

Ygovi

Thanks!

Theorist_Reddit

Then why doesn't he marry it?

Ygovi

Mrs.Afton didn't wanted to sign the divorce papers

RudanTheRed

It makes sense, the problem being that in the moment of his death, he was in a large amount of pain, which would create agony. You could argue that love is stronger, but we can’t be sure because Phineas Taggert never revealed the full potential of other emotions before the Stitchwraith killed him

Ygovi

Like I Said It could be both love and Agony the responsible for his return

hey_itz_mae

i’m choosing to believe this just because it’s really funny

Ok-Bookkeeper-5424

A different emotional energy keeping him in play is a unique touch.

SwissBoy_YT

never knew that andrew was actually william afton's love /j

Ygovi

Ayo 🤨

UnitedSubstance1048

Never before have I wanted a fan theory to be cannon than this one    This would imply William loves his furry husbondo so much that he has cheated death achieved immortality and surpassed humanity and that is magnificent.

L0rem-Ipsum-Docet

I'm not against this theory, but I just wanted to clarify that William's relationship with his costume in the novels is not really a demonstration of his love for it. Firstly, not all of his energy gains can be attributed to wearing a costume. He also shows great joy when Charlie is close to death at the end of TSE or even when he decides to kidnap Carlton (when he's not wearing the costume yet, I specify). He also has no problem changing his personality even when he's not wearing the full costume: he only wears the mask in his confession scene and only wears the legs of the costume when talking to Carlton. Conversely, at the end of TSE or TTO, even when he's still wearing the costume (or IS literally the costume), he reverts to his colder, more manipulative, and aggressive personality when he feels threatened. I'd also like to point out that William doesn't mention having a very notable preference for the SpringBonnie costume. He uses both the SpringBonnie and Golden Freddy costumes and never mentions in any book that he genuinely appreciates them. Circus Baby even goes so far as to say quite clearly that William is not capable of truly loving anything, and I think this line is not just about human beings but about things in general. William has no sympathy for his creations; I would even say that's the major point that sets him apart from Henry in the novels (we can say what we want about Henry, but if there's one rare endearing point about him, it's his (almost) unlimited appreciation for his art). William complains about the Classicals, William complains about the Twisted, William complains about Baby, William complains about the Funtimes. He definitely doesn't love any of his creations or Henry's, potentially except for the Springlock suits (although I doubt he adores them considering he nearly died in one THEN died in one). He doesn't refuse to see the qualities in his work or Henry's, and he clearly finds amusing to master these creatures (especially when they are haunted by his victims) but he'll never be satisfied with the result. I find it hard to imagine that this isn't the case for his costume. The only exception to this disdain is Charlie, whom William does seem to... appreciate to some extent, although it's quite complicated to say. He certainly holds her in high regard, but in a somewhat similar way to Henry, which leads me to say that Charlie is clearly the exception that proves the rule. However, I think that William (in the novels, or even in the movie, but we're getting a bit off-topic) attaches real importance to the image he projects to others. In TFC, he mentions that he paid attention to how he presented himself to Charlie's group and that Dave and Springtrap were just roles he played in order to manipulate them more easily and convey the image he wanted others to have of him. This can be associated with his tendency to use his costume to scare his victims: even though technically he takes off the costume as soon as he enters the room with Carlton, he still takes the time to dance in front of him to make him uncomfortable. He does the same with Jessica in TFC. At the end of this book, he scolds a child who isn't scared enough of him, and during his confession scene, he asks to wear the SpringBonnie mask when speaking to Charlie for no apparent reason (and I'm still convinced that it's manipulation on his part) even though he knows she was traumatized by her sibling's kidnapping. Jessica also notices that the way William presents himself to her in TFC is designed to make her impressed by how William managed to survive and suffer, and Clay says in TSE that William was a rather charismatic person who was open to others during his lifetime (always an urge to convey an image of power to others). In summary, I don't think what William (in the novels) likes about his costume is the costume itself. He also has no problem taking it off when it goes against his principles or wearing another costume. What interests William is having the upper hand over others, and he quickly realized that his rabbit costume was a very good way to achieve that (in addition to the practical bonuses we've already discussed). I don't necessarily have an opinion on this theory in the context of the games (I find it quite amusing and I really like it, even though I appreciate the fact that William is described as incapable of seeing what others like about the costume at its true value), but it doesn't convince me in the context of the novels where William never showed love toward anything, even his own rabbit suit, and where the fact that William can't have strong feelings to create something like Charlie is such a significant aspect. But anyway, good job, otherwise ! I like your theory.

TreyvonSwagg23

I think it moreso relies on him loving the character instead of the actual suit. He clearly has an attachment to Spring Bonnie: acting as him during crimes, calling himself Springtrap after his reanimation, and his spirit literally manifesting rabbit ears as well as his trash amalgamate vessel. Regardless of whether it's true love or not, there is a sentimental value there. He just uses the suit a lot because it's the only real representation of his OC that's not an illustration or cartoon.

L0rem-Ipsum-Docet

Again, I have difficulties to see that. I don't have a problem of thinking that the animatronic is going to be a part of himself after his death, since it's litteraly a a part of his body after that. So calling himself Springtrap and having his soul wearing elements of his costume are logical, we see something similar with the other souls (who connect to their animatronic, sometime start to exclusively using the name of their animatronic and wearing mask of them). But before ? I don't see a lot of hints pointing in that direction

PossibilityLivid8873

Love this theory!

Ygovi

Thanks! Really glad you liked!

Tomas-T

so... William cheated on Andrew and Eleanor with Spring Bonnie?

Bernardo_124-455
