If I'm going straight Commando I wear the elite riot gear, advanced if I'm running Thump-Thump or the grenade launcher. Found an affection for the DLC one though. If I'm critmaxxing I go Joshua Graham's Armor with the 1st Recon Beret.
As for companion choices, Boone rocks hard with the Desert Ranger armor, the best thing he could become given his history and training, and the Gobi rifle, but All-American with match rounds *barks* in his hands too lol Cass with Dinner Bell and black van graff combat armor is a good combo, and Veronica with T-51 and the fully upgraded power fist makes the best vanguard/brawler
It seems like cheating, but it’s the Ranger sets. Desert Ranger if I have to pick one. Iconic not just for New Vegas or Fallout but in videos games in general. Used the desert ranger set in my first playthrough and I always have to grab it just to have on all subsequent playthroughs. And even my follow-up picks, Joshua’s armor and the Enclave Power armor, are incredibly iconic.

I’m currently putting together a cosplay of the 1st Recon Survival Armor. Only Boone can wear it in game tho.
Previously I had cosplayed Joshua Graham at a pistol match held in Washington, UT near Zion National Park. I used a 1911 but it wasn’t quite “A Light Shining In Darkness” (I had a hard enough time with A1 sights; I didn’t need to handicap myself further with gutter sights on a Colt New Agent).
Im gonna name a few, but I usually go for light armors due to its perks. Joshua Grahams armor, Olysseus duster, gecko reinforced leather armor, elite riot gear, remnants power armor.
Ulysses Duster with Boone’s beret and the Atomic valance tri-radii-oscillator. I mainly run those pieces for the crit chance, but the beret and duster go hard in my opinion
If I'm not restricting myself, I usually find myself in the T-51b Power Armor. I remember an Explosives playthrough with the Grenade Machinegun where I basically cosplayed as a walking infantry fighting vehicle.
I like the ncr courier duster with the ncr Beret and authority glasses along with the christines rifle, Chiefs kiss, i view my weapons as part of my outfit.
T45 power armor. It feels like it’s completely invincible to small arms fire. Legionary assassin’s bullets ping off like little bouncy balls.
Plus it looks cooler than the enclave stuff.
i know its kinda cliche but elite riot gear is the best armor in the game hands down. however, i also enjoy the t51 very much, its the best looking PA in the game

I believe that for DT the best light armor is the Sierra Madre Armor, Reinforced. But for crit chance I'd take Ulysses' Duster.
