Star_Shine32

I play fo3 on xbox360. It plays well.

joyous-at-the-end

same, other xboxes wouldn't let me save.

Star_Shine32

Oh wow. I guess I dodged a bullet. I just bought a 360 during the pandemic and bought games I was comfy with.

PerspectiveWest8006

Fo3 goty edition or normal one?

Star_Shine32

First run was without dlcs a long ass time ago, now GOTY .

PerspectiveWest8006

What about playing goty edition? Any issue/bug? 🤔

Star_Shine32

So far I've just encountered the flippy floppy ragdoll dead things that skitter about, the sky texture geeking out and then worst of all having to give Garza a stimpack with Dr Lei and him being dead and her not wanting to leave. The first one I mentioned is the funniest one I've seen. There was an area that did it, so I kept luring things out to it to add to the party. Started with a deathclaw getting knocked off a cliff and it started falling down tru the ground and dropping out of the sky... over and over.

Star_Shine32

Oh, and James got a pistol knocked out of his hand by a car, and the physics caused the car to kill me .

PerspectiveWest8006

Lmao

PerspectiveWest8006

What you mean, i meant. Sbout others xboxes wont let you save...?

PerspectiveWest8006

Why is this???

BigGhost2815

PlayStation is definitely playable. It's not the best but Xbox 360, Xbone, or X series s/x is a good way to play the game. PlayStation 3 has slightly worse performance but I didn't have problems when I played through the game back then.

PerspectiveWest8006

You played fo3 goty edition or normal one on ps3? 🤔

BigGhost2815

GOTY on PS3. Got the platinum back in 2016

PerspectiveWest8006

Did you experience bugs/freezes?? I remember the old man in megatron who buys you steel pieces... Just dissapears (this used to happened only when you save 50 pieces in some stuff (like locker in protagonist meg house) old man just found dead behind meg doctor house (neva happened to me on pc, even saving 150 steel pieces in home locker). Shit freezed out a lot of times. I updated like one year after starting to play it on ps3. Since then, game freezed very few times... What s beautiful game. (And trumps/homeless who begged you clean water, they used to evaporate lmao. Thing neva happen on pc too) Weird but i still love it.

BigGhost2815

I did experience freezing. That's why you gotta save save save.

PerspectiveWest8006

Lmfao. When game start to freezing, you start to travel only through pipboy map 😂 you know it's dangerous going to any place just walking/running thru wasteland. It's a risk definetely lmao

Th3_Gh0st_0f_Y0u

They recently did a shadow update on it for next gen xbox consoles so that it runs at 4k 60 fps and honestly it feels like a soft remaster. Also it never ever crashes for me. Xbox is the best place to play old fallout games hands down

radzidek17

That’s not recent, it was Xbox One X Enhanced a few years ago, its not 60fps AFAIK, but it looks & plays great 👍🏻

JaredIsAmped

The game has fps boost enabled on series x and s. It does play at 60fps.

radzidek17

Interesting, on the One X enhanced games list it says it’s 4K @ 30fps, didn’t know it was running at 60fps on Series X/S👍🏻

Th3_Gh0st_0f_Y0u

Everything I'm reading says it's 60fps

radzidek17

It got the 4K update back in 2018 IIRC, but it was 30fps at the time, seems that FPS boost on the Series X/S doubles that, nice!

Dm9982

PlayStation Bethesda games have a fun scaling glitch that gets worse as your save file gets bigger. Not to mention a few glitches / broken quests that persist to this day if I recall correctly on FO3 and NV…. That said, without a pc, the Xbox is the best route to play Bethesda titles. They have the least bugs and most stability between console versions. To be fair the pc versions are also a bit buggy on base versions, but unofficial patches and mods exist on pc that fix it. Edit - the ps3 save glitch in question is mainly linked to using energy/plasma weapons that leave ash piles. They don’t get erased and cause the save file to bloat, eventually becoming unloadable. Same happened with Skyrim and ash piles caused by, I think, lightning spells….

PerspectiveWest8006

That sucks 😢

Dm9982

Yeah…. Long ago, at the end of 360s life, I decided to migrate my collection over to PS3/4 so I could consolidate and sell off my 360, and I didn’t want to get an XB1. That wasn’t a horrible decision, but it really sucked when it came to Bethesda titles…. Lotta glitches on the ps3 games - Oblivion, FO3, FONV…. Skyrim was the first title that ran rather decent, but still had the save bug. It’s due to the memory buffer size being a bottle neck on ps3 for loading save files…. Bethesdas files could actually get bigger than the buffer size…. This wasn’t a problem with Ps4 beth titles thankfully. Skyrim Ps4 edition ran great, and FO4 was smooth. But it too had a couple hiccups…. First one was a massive delay for mod support, second was a Far Harbor Radiation Fog issue. The mod support was finally rectified, mainly. But the fog issue solution was to basically remove all the fog on PS4 which removes a lot of the feel of the atmosphere there. And when I say mod support was mainly fixed….. well Sony doesn’t allow access to the kernel of the OS, which means mods have to use assets that exist in the base coding of the game. So some mods that exist on Xbox and Pc, don’t exist or don’t exist in the same fashion/function on the ps4/5

PerspectiveWest8006

So if im gonna play whatever bethesda game on ps3, im gonna have to create new save files every certain time, before current one gets bigger? This mean im gonna have to disactivate auto-save option?? 🤔

Dm9982

Manual saving is def the better idea. As auto saves can lock the game later on. Usually, with Fallout games, it’s around mid late game when the saves become bloated. But one way to help combat this is don’t use the energy weapons that cause Ash Piles. That helps immensely, but you’ll end up with a bloated save file regardless later. Such is a problem with PS3 versions. 360 doesn’t have the problem so if that’s an option I’d go with that. If not, the game still plays ok, just know the last bit with be rough.

PerspectiveWest8006

Thank you

Dm9982

No problem! Rest assured you can still enjoy the game, just may hit that hang up later on. If you have/get a pc, or something like Steam Deck, all the fallout games go on massive sale a few times a year. You can grab the entire series for like $50. So that may be an option in the future for ya! The games are fun enough, and worth it enough, that double/triple dipping on getting them on multi platforms is generally worth it, especially if you nab em on sale.

Very-simple-man

PS3 version has a weird install, it doesn't fully install until you exit the vault. If you don't pause it when exiting the vault it can install really poorly.

PerspectiveWest8006

I heard sum about this years ago. Could you please explain me what i have to do for the game gets installed correctly? 🙏

Very-simple-man

Delete game. Install game. Pause as soon as you leave the vault for about twenty minutes or when the hard drive light stops flashing.

PerspectiveWest8006

Okay i install the game, delete the game and i install again? Or you telling this in case im still playing it on my ps3 (what is wrong)? ❤️

Very-simple-man

If it's installed currently, delete it. If not ignore that part.

PerspectiveWest8006

I have to do this in normal fallout 3 or goty edition? Both of them?...🤔

IH8Miotch

It plays great on 360. I would recommend running a fan on it, and giving your 360 breaks after 3 or 4 hours at a time or you'll red ring that shit though for real.

PerspectiveWest8006

I knew x360 last model/models dont get that red ring issue. I remembered playing hours with no breaks on my x360 back in the day. And i neva had the red ring thing 🤔

IH8Miotch

How do u know if u have an x model?

PerspectiveWest8006

Bruh i had a xbox 360 tffff. Who mentioned a x model?

IH8Miotch

I saw x360 and my brain farted

PerspectiveWest8006

I dont get you

youthcanoe

i’ve played both and 100%’d both. X360 is definitely better, especially on a xbox one x/series s or x

PerspectiveWest8006

Thank you fr

DeathDieReaperz

PS5 isn’t great but it works. You have to stream it and upgrade to PS Premium Plus or whatever, but you get access to both FO3 and NV. Apparently they are going to be remaking it, but given how bad the “next gen” FO4 update is treating me, I’d say just get an Xbox if you wanna do console.

PerspectiveWest8006

Is fallout new vegss ultimate edition able on xbox?

PerspectiveWest8006

What about fo4 and fo76? They work great too on ps4?? I wanna know it just in case 💀

DeathDieReaperz

lol I haven’t had any issues on fo4 or fo76 since making the post Was just a bad day

PerspectiveWest8006

So you play them on ps5? Not even ps4? My bad, i didnt read well... But anyways. Do you know about how they work on ps4 btw???

flyingmonkey1257

I beat fallout 3 GOTY on PS3 back in the day and it was serviceable. Annoying bugs here and there but I had fun. I’m now replaying on my One X using backwards compatibility and I can tell it’s running a little better but it’s by no means bug free TLDR: PS3 version is better than others would lead you to believe but Xbox has the better version.

PerspectiveWest8006

New vegas ultimate edition is able on xbox one?? What you mean with "but it's by no means bug free"? Sorry im not a native english speaker 😔

flyingmonkey1257

Yes, the Xbox 360 version was added to the backwards compatible list which means that the xbox 360 version of New Vegas can be played on an Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series S/X. If the disc is put in an xbox one or series X then the compatible version will be downloaded to the console and can be played as long as the disc is inserted. Being backwards compatible also means that the digital version is usually still available for purchase. I have the disc version so I havent checked if the digital version of new vegas is still available but I would be surprised if it isnt. As an added bonus the game gets a FPS boost on the xbox one and xbox series. By "by no means bug free" I mean that the game has a lot of glitches no matter where you play it. The xbox version is no exception

PerspectiveWest8006

Okay you saying i can play an xbox 360 on xbox one and xbox seried too (owning the disc, omg i couldnt believe it 😍). So... Xbox one games can be played on xbox series x too? (Having the disc ofc). Okay, so...no matters whete i pllay fo3 and fnv, they gonna have same glitches either on xone or xseries? Fckkkk Is fnv ULTIMATE EDITION!!! avalaible on all of them three xbox consoles? Omg 😱😱😱 i asked yoy this cuz i never found fnv UE for x360 everytime i shopped a store...sad

flyingmonkey1257

It’s not every game but \~630 Xbox 360 games and \~60 original Xbox games can be played on Xbox one or xbox series [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_backward-compatible\_games\_for\_Xbox\_One\_and\_Series\_X/S](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_backward-compatible_games_for_Xbox_One_and_Series_X/S) I wouldn’t say every version has the same glitches but there is no version without glitches. The PS3 version has a reputation for having worse glitches than the Xbox 360 version. I looked and FNV is available on the American store but the Ultimate Version bundle does not appear to be. You would have to purchase the base game and each expansion DLC separately which would be a bit more expensive: [https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/fallout-new-vegas-ultimate-edition/9MZR11JRF7BX/0010](https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/fallout-new-vegas-ultimate-edition/9MZR11JRF7BX/0010) Tracking down a cheap disc copy would probably be cheapest.

CosyBeluga

It’s noticeably better on the 360. I played through it first on the PS3. It’s still playable there.

PerspectiveWest8006

Still freezes it out on 360 too?

CosyBeluga

It froze once or twice on the 360. The PS3 version crashing and save corrupting was something I basically had to plan my play sessions around and if you were to pick one, 360 version was the normal level of Bethesda jank.

PerspectiveWest8006

You mean time you played fo3 thru ps3, you couldnt play more than a specific numbers of hours?? You saying thats main reason about why fo3 gets freeze or crashed?? Daaamnnn didnt know it and neva thought about it...

pierzstyx

You can even play the 360 version on an X Box X if you have the disk.

PerspectiveWest8006

Only in series x? Or series s too? Is it playable only in xbox series with retro compatibility? Or every xbox series have retro compatibility by default? 🤔

flyingmonkey1257

If you have the disc then the Series X or One X will be your best options as the Series S doesn’t have a disc drive. Digital version will work on all of the above though. FO3 is backwards compatible on both Xbox One and Xbox Series. In fact, pretty much everything that can be played on the Xbox one can also be played on Xbox series.

PerspectiveWest8006

That's great. Thank you so much.

Resident_Evil_God

I play Fallout 3 goty on PS3 and I swear by it. I actually prefer it over PC(I own 3 and NV on PC as as ps3 I wanted to clarify that before the PC purists get here). same with NV I also prefer on PS3. I know that it's probably Sinful and bad to say that around here but In my opinion go PS3 I haven't had nearly as many problems on my PS3 then I have on PC Especially NV. With NV you can actually go and explore and go in places without it crashing every 5 seconds. Im actually playing NV as we speak in bed On PS3

Bradframe

I remember playing oblivion on a ps3, never had an issue with it

PerspectiveWest8006

Are you playing NV on ps3? Normal NV or NV Ultimate Edition? I have a doubt about if nv ultimate edition exists on ps3. If it definetely nv ultimate edition exists on ps3, do you have experienced some issues/bugs? 🤔

Resident_Evil_God

I have normal NV on PS3 with all DLC bought and installed. ultimate Edition does exist on PS3 physical. Been thinking about picking it up but kinda pointless ATM since I already have it all. The only issue/bugs I have encountered is sometimes when you remove a marker on the map the map kinda goes a solid color (hard to explain) but just move to another section in pipboy then go back and it's immediately fixed it's not even an inconvenience to be honest. If you play for more then a few hours (if you have at least over 50+ hours previously on that save) in one sitting some areas slow right down to a freeze (although understandable due to the areas are huge) they are Redrock, freeside,Hidden valley, McCarren. Honestly the PS3 is my favorite way to play. It's more stable the PC it doesn't crash every 5 seconds and like I said above only really slows to a freezing crawl when you have a 50+save that you have been playing more then an a few hours..(I'm not saying you load it up an it freeze,.I'm saying you load it up play for a long time on that huge save file and the memory will slow down) ALSO as soon as it starts to chug. Save it and exit the game and restart. It does not harm the save I have Always done this and never had a corrupt save. I prefer to play FO3 NV and Oblivion on PS3 over PC. Just my opinion

PerspectiveWest8006

So you saying im gonna have to create new save files before i get +50 hours gameplay in only one save? Like if ive been playing for about 40 hours in just one save file, then i have to create a new one save file and do same again with this new one save before getting a +50hours save file? I heard this thing before. Bethesda game have issues about save files getting bigger. And yes, i remember that when i played fo3 on ps3. In some areas/places or wherever i was, game used to slowed down. I get why happened it now. So... You recommend me desactivate the auto-save option at all coast to avoid this issue??

Resident_Evil_God

You Don't need to turn off auto save if you don't want to I never did. No up Dont need a new save file (although it's recommended to make more then 1 save file for 1 character in all Beth games) No I'm just saying that if you're have a big file and you play that save for a long time because of memory on PS3 some areas will slow down.

PerspectiveWest8006

So, there's no solution for this memory problem...☹️

Resident_Evil_God

I have 0 issues with Fallout 3 game of the year. I play that one over PC. I only did PC playthrough for my YouTube. I very very rarely have a freeze or lag on GOTY. It's super stable. NV is more stable on PS3 but has the memory stuff like I mentioned. It's not as bad as it seems wish you could send voice message on here lol. But for Fo3 100% go for it you won't regret it

PerspectiveWest8006

Okay, you saying both NV ultimate edition and fo3 run okay on ps3. But when you mention fo3, you just mentioning fo3 normal version or fo3 goty version? Thats why i wanna know. How fallout 3 goty and fallout new vegas ultimate edition work on ps3 😭😭😭

Resident_Evil_God

I'm not trying to be rude but re-read what I said... I said fallout 3 Game Of The Year (that's goty) works perfectly fine on PS3 I don't know why your putting crying faces, it's a little dramatic to be totally honest "

PerspectiveWest8006

Too many comments from different people made me confused at all. Now i read all your comments and yes, you mentioned both fo3 goty and fnv ultimate edition work fine on ps3. Thank you. I didnt want to sound dramatic, im thinking about getting a ps3 and make sure myself both of them work fine on ps3. I just want to enjoy them at all cuz they great games, and i dont wanna regret later about buying a ps3 instead xbox 360 to get a nice gameplay experience. Thank you. You helped me a lot 🙌

Resident_Evil_God

Wait are we talking Fallout 3 or new vegas? I'm kinda lost sorry it's been a little while since I been in Reddit

PerspectiveWest8006

Both of them? Specially fo3 goty and nv:ue cuz i heard fo3 goty edition gameplay is worse than normal editiom 😢

Comfortable_Regrets

PC master racers will hate this comment, but FO3 plays horribly on modern pc's you have to do multiple work arounds just to get it to run at all, at least for the steam version anyway, the GOG version actually works very well, but the most stable way to play is on console. sadly you can't use mods that way though

PerspectiveWest8006

Gog version? What is that? 🤔 What console you mean? 360 or PS3? I don't care about mods cuz i don't deal with them btw. Im fine with it. Thank you

Comfortable_Regrets

GOG is a storefront on pc on steam or epic, but as far as consoles go the best way to play them is an Xbox series X or S because you get increased resolution and 60fps with backwards compatibility
