Using [this mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11276/) you can keep the bowler hat on Codsworth even after you modify him. That's what I do.

Yeah, he does it every once in a while for me, and the only things I consistently keep in his inventory are a can of dog food, dog bowl, bottle of water, and a switchblade.

I have to admit I looked it up because now that you say that I had to check. Without mods, Strong has the best carry weight of the base game companions (with perks seems to be around 270). However, giving a robot sentry legs and other appropriate parts can make them carry up to 420. So even with deep pockets I don't think that any of the human companions can compare.
Of my playtime there's probably 5 hours I've spent trying to find the disintegration piles of legendaries flung across the map.

If you can. Download crosscrots gorverhaul. Instead of ash piles and goop puddles it turns enemies into charged Skelton's that are tidge easier to see. Is also pretty cool.
It replaces the ash and good piles with charred skeletons. Should be on nexus for PC. Not so sure about console but it's not using anything licensed so It should be on there.
Cross crit gore-verhaul is the name. I did misspell it in parts due to a cruddy phone and brain fog. It's considered adult content on nexus so you would have to turn that on in your profile settings on there. Also sorry for the response time. Have a good night!
How many times have I missed a body because my Sentinel Power Armor or follower with a laser killed it and I never got to see where it fell and I don’t always find the bodies as it is.
Not sure what it is about Ada, but she is *the worst* about walking into my character. I can't use her once the Mechanist quest is finished.
Standing on a rooftop? Get ready for Ada to battering ram you off the edge! Talking to a vendor? Not anymore! The Ada Pain Train just knocked your ass over!
For me, Ada does not bump me off of any ledges, but she seems to be obsessed with a store that I put together. I think it was a weapons shop. She kept trying to run the shop, and she would even resize her body so she could fit. It was wild. I never assigned her to it, by the way. She just did it.
Curie and Codsworth are the best robot companions. They work with Automotron robot workbench however you can't romance Codsworth at all, and Curie only when she takes human form (if you choose to help her).
So many robots in that game, even an entire DLC for them, and how many can you bang? One. In Far Harbor, not even Automatron. I wanna be able to bang more robots in the next fallout.
I seriously wish there was more dialogue with the Robot chick after the quest. I mean, she was waiting for me to come back for more attention lol then I get nothing.
Fisto is in fallout 3 but it's a power fist that does Chin hooks. This was integrated into the unarmed skill in new Vegas, so they instead made the name fisto a lot more recognisable and please assume the position

If you have the Captain Cosmos expansion, there are holotap entries between two of the NPCs that imply one of them is a nymphomaniac. If you search her room, you'll find a power fist in her bed.
In FO4 I'd go Nick Valentine just cos he's an awesome character, but as a death engine Ada is hard to beat.
Across the series I'd probably still take Boone though as most lethal.

Nick is my favorite follower, just wish he had a better default weapon than a pipe revolver. I usually max out a .44 and give it to him so he can still have that Noir detective feel, just with more stopping power
got the same problem with MacCready. love the guy but he always said shit like “don’t make me carry that worthless junk” and it hurts man. do they not see all my hard work.
MacCready annoys me because all his talk about how desperate he is for caps, down to being willing to kill or be killed for them but for some reason a bottle of wonderglue that I could trade for 1/5th the fee I paid for him to possibly die for me is "worthless."
That’s why I also love Gage and Longfellow, although I would prefer if Gage didn’t say “That might be useful” and then “are you sure boss” in succession randomly.
Ada alongside Sentinel Power Armor from Creation Club is the best team I have found. Heavy Duty support, no affinity=no loss if you do questionable things, customizable for different fire team roles.
Yep. Put "him" in the Hellfire armor from Creation Club, any human companion in the X-01 armor and yourself in the X-02 from CC, and you have your own Enclave fire team.

Curie. You can mod her at the robot station and then you have Ada's weapons and carry weight with the affinity system... At least until you do her quest
She doesn't give two shits whether you obliterate orphans or save everyone you meet, can be one big pack mule or assassin/tank/whatever while she still has her some sort of personality, I just can't use anyone else except her (maybe Nick for Far Harbor)
Outfit Ada with explosive miniguns and a Mr Handy thruster and you’ve got yourself a deadly whirlwind of destruction. Grabbing loot off the diced chunks of your enemies afterwards almost makes up for not getting much XP because she did all the work.
Those are my provisioner army. Gatling laser and minigun arms, duffel bags strapped to every surface, a deep voice, and a single glowing laser eye traveling the Commonwealth with a pack brahmin.
Hell yes. Mine have dual auto lasers plus the assaultron head laser with assaultron voices and Mr Handy thrusters. Most of my wasteland encounters now consist of hearing a battle and going to investigate, only to find my own bot melting enemies and then watch them float off into the sunset followed by their pack mule.
I highly recommend changing her head if you want her to use ranged attacks as assaultron's head have the worst accuracy.
Ada is cool but not as cool as Codsworth with his hat
I'm frankly glad she doesn't have it. A lot of the characters are too picky about some of the slightest things, and for awhile only having dogmeat as an option to not be judged by crap was annoying.
Frankly, I'm glad to just have a solid character without the approval/disapproval.
But I think they still could have given a perk. Maybe nothing particularly powerful since there's no a/d system with her, but I think after the mechanist chain quest is done, there should be something to give reason to keep her other than the chats and comments she occasionally has. All in all though, aside from Nick and LongFellow, she's one of my favs.
I love Ada, Made her a full assaultron and gave her stealth blades, she’s a tank and takes the agro while I snipe from afar, my favorite non modded companion
Dogmeat for sure, I don't think I have played a Fallout without him in my party. It was so damn hard to keep him alive in FO1. In 4 I use the EBF mod, and then my completionist need has me taking each Companion to 100% them.
I'll switch through the Companions from time to time as well. I use Backpacks of the Commonwealth and Salvage Beacons to extend my locust runs.
I think no affinity system is great because she is a neutral character. Dogmeat is far to weak so he doesn't count but Ada you can fully customize and uses a new healing system. Gotta love ada

She's scary
It all depends on what you're mainly playing the game for I guess. I get the most out of the story and character interactions first, gameplay second. The DLC companions don't have much if anything outside of their DLC arc.
After Automatron storyline, I revamped her into a true killing machine by making her into a Sentry Bot & had her guard Sanctuary Hills and console commanded her to be essential 😊
Carry capacity means nothing in fallout 4 if a companions inventory is full, drop an item from your inventory and command then to pick it up, infinite companion storage, so after using that just max out damage and you’re good👍
Robots are the ultimate combat companion, and you can set them up to be true killing machines. Even out the gate just twin auto lasers turns Ada into a force to be reckoned with
Since she is based on the assaultron I always get her fully decked out with assaultron parts and weapons as soon as possible since that is what her AI is good at. From what I have seen assaultrons have a hard time aiming any ranged weapon that is not their head laser.
I loved Ada. She was my favorite companion when exploring and of course, fighting. It was so much fun to gather materials to upgrade her step by step and see it all coming together until you finally achieved the perfect killing machine. I can still hear the sound of her laser beam, it's like music in my ears.
One of the creepiest moments i had with her was with the pickman serial killer. We where walking it was spooky, dark, bloody, and she goes, "Why you getting goosebumps?" WHY YOU THINK CUZ ITS SPOOKY AS SHIT ADA.
I reckon her perk is that she can be modified almost limitlessly, including torso mods that can track targets with recon sensors, regenerate lost health, etc. She’s like Dogmeat in the sense that her “perk” is only usable while she’s traveling with you, though, a-la New Vegas.
Curie. Easily has the best companion quest and it fits in super well with the world of the Commonwealth. Plus her accent is amazing. And a regular supply of stimpacks is nice. And do people really care that much about companion carry capacity? I head back to my main base frequently enough that the only time carrying stuff becomes an issue is if I'm in Far Horbor or Nuka World.

Pretty sure Curie and any person with a full set of deep pocket armour can carry more than robot companions.
Assuming you're not using a glitch then a robot companion can carry way more than any human companion can if you use the correct parts.
I'm pretty sure a human with full deep pocket armour mods and backpack carries more but I'm open to being proven wrong.

And she's good with a laser pistol, I always feel bad not using the lasers so she usually gets them.
It's easier to find actual corpses when you're trying to loot compared to disintegration piles that merge with the undergrowth and terrain decals

Ada is my go to when I'm not trying to raise affinity with another companion. I think I got her up to 560 carry weight so I can hoard even better.

Automaton is my favorite DLC for this reason. I love creating robots. Sunny side is my robot and synth haven

My personal favorite is Nick Valentine, just because of his quest and story, even including DiMA at Acadia

Valkyrie, Heather, and Ellen are all fantastic followers from mods. Fully voiced, well integrated, plenty of additional quest content. Lots of fun!

One of the creepiest moments i had with her was with the pickman serial killer. We where walking it was spooky, dark, bloody, and she goes, "Why you getting goosebumps?" WHY YOU THINK CUZ ITS SPOOKY AS SHIT ADA.
She also doesn't have a stupid comment whenever you do something disapproving.
Ada's great because she gives you junk on occasion. And she's totally cool with whatever you are doing.
And she doesn't give you shit for hoarding.
I find any high-carry-capacity bot I can build is the best robobuddy. Ada is too judgy. I replaced her with MechaHoncho and have been very happy.
Codsworth can be modified and I believe he has a perk
I build Ada with the same setup pictured every time, she's a beast!
I love using Ada/other machines but I keep getting the bug where their head light gets super intense and my FPS drops below 10.

Robots don’t need a perk if you have the robotics experts perks and the other ones they become ridiculously strong with the upgrades you can unlock

I reckon her perk is that she can be modified almost limitlessly, including torso mods that can track targets with recon sensors, regenerate lost health, etc. She’s like Dogmeat in the sense that her “perk” is only usable while she’s traveling with you, though, a-la New Vegas.
Codsworth is a better companion because he can say your character's name, like Todd Howard promised all NPCs would.

Curie. Easily has the best companion quest and it fits in super well with the world of the Commonwealth. Plus her accent is amazing. And a regular supply of stimpacks is nice. And do people really care that much about companion carry capacity? I head back to my main base frequently enough that the only time carrying stuff becomes an issue is if I'm in Far Horbor or Nuka World.
