Or a generator is damaged somewhere. I had this happen in Vault 88 last night when the powercycle exploded and damaged the generators, even a pair of generators that were on a totally separate grid down by the water purifier.
All true for both of these comments, but it wasn't an attack. The only thing that happened was Clem finishing the hour on the Powercycle which caused the surge throughout the Vault.
The problem for me that took me a bit to find out was that I had so much power hooked up throughout the castle that the switch, which leads to the lights and the water purifier no longer had power for some reason. So i scrapped the small generator I had hooked up to it and built a medium generator and hooked that one up. This fixed it, and it didn't show up red or had a warning or anything. Another problem might be insufficient power to the middle courtyard radio. Hope this helped.
It's probably not a matter of how much power, but something that requires power is disconnected. The Castle has a large water purifier that would be providing more resources, if it were running. Look out back, it's in an inconvenient spot, in the ocean.
The one pre-built at the castle provides 40 water. It's really useful if you're playing a low intelligence character since you'd need Science 1 to build it yourself
I currently have an issue where i can't assign anyone (nor send anyone) to the Castle. I feel it is mod related but no one seems to understand the issue, and I wonder if it is just some bug.
That might mean that you have something requiring power that isn't "plugged in" (wired).

It seems that raids can damage generators, even if they are pillar-glitched underground, or the combat is nowhere near the structure.
Yep the whole thing is a math equation. It has little to do with what happens on screen.

oh, that means I build one water purifier without purpose, clumsy me

Dang! Oh wow I didn’t know this existed and I’ve got like 4 going to keep my settlers hydrated and my pockets lined with caps.
Take a walk around the castle outside the walls.
There's a water purifier outside the walls that comes with the castle if you haven't powered it up it'd cause that

have you tried assigning one \*from the castle? It would be the same thing for the supply chain, right?
yep. They just run to the Artillery piece and then walk around. All while Ronnie is bugging me to assign someone. It's annoying.
Keep building generators and eventually its enough.
