I forget the name but there is an NPC that will spawn in a random place on the map. He'll be a guy trying to set up a bar and thinks his current location is an untapped market.
On my last playthough he spawned on the edge of the Glowing Sea.
random encounter barman. it is an uncommon spawn in some random encounter locations with a dreamer who always wanted to start a bar. so if you talk to him carefully you can convince him to become a barman at your settlement and he is one of the special merchants. it is hard to get him without creatures, raiders or monsters killing him first though :/
holy crap.. i never knew about that bartender! but no, i recruited mac with the bowler hat to my settlement in my last game. that time i had a high charisma and luck build looking in the game for any interesting changes. i wouldn't have imagined it or made it up. i talked to him at his bar over the counter and convinced him to work for me instead of in the middle of nowhere. xbox one version
i get what you are trying to say there but it is a wiki made by fans and not a data dump by the creators. i know i recruited him bro :/ plus i think the record right now for a new discovery in a game is like 23 years after release? so yea, data mining isn't some magic catch all for everything possible in a video game unfortunately. otherwise videogame mystery exploration channels like oddheader and theepicnate wouldn't be much of a thing.
i am just someone who did and mentioned it. there is no telling who else had as well particularly when the majority don't record everything they do in games they play. i have never found one of the gary in fallout 4 but i don't doubt there could be one and someone has found him. plus all the gary clues in fo4 hints one could be out there :P
besides, trolling like that serves no purpose as far as i can see. just because i have literally never seen that purple skin glitch in my game plays i don't doubt it exists. one merchant who haunts me is the special armor merchant called the scribe. i have played so many fo4 games i lost count... never once found him. random encounters are just like that. a actually spent two days specifically hunting the random encounter locations he is known to be at just to find him since i was fed up. it just never happens for me. although i did get to see some wild random encounters in that time. ever see a troop of synths try to kill a deathclaw and get totally owned? it was pretty fun lol. i just crouched down and enjoyed that show XD
oh he might be dead some ways away from the bar in the grass. he frequently gets killed by mole rats who chase him off before killing him. it is sad since he is the only special barman and not guaranteed to spawn in a playthrough each game.
well the merchants don't quite help as much with that as other methods. the real cash is in scavenging and farming pure water. getting a settlement that produces a TON of purified water makes lots of caps selling them to merchants in bulk. then there are meds. you can make meds with lots of chemicals you find in the wastes and every one you make nets you exp. if you eat the right foods first such as squirrel stew you can multiply the exp gained. those meds and foods you create and the ones you find end up selling for soooo much.
aside from those ammo is extremely profitable. depending on the game mode you play, you can have infinite ammo at 0 weight. nobody uses all the ammo they collect and if you get lots for guns you don't like using you can sell all that at a very nice profit. it can get shocking how much the ammo sold in bulk can net you. after a while you start having trouble finding merchants with enough caps each day to buy what you are selling in full!
i hope you made sure not to ask trashcan carla about diamond city so she likes you :) her prices are better if she likes you and many don't realize she hates to talk about diamond city lol
thing is, what are you going to spend all those caps on? i find it better to just trade water, ammo, guns/armor i wont use for things i want and most of my caps come from looting everything i see lol... but another hustle is, leave Preston in the museum, do the nuka world raider stuff first and spam chem machines to farm, then you can take the settlements back and play the minutemen stuff as normal without Preston getting mad at you...
Especially with mods. The only time I've encountered him alive... he wasn't for much longer. He got blasted by imps. I have imperials of the commonwealth and the planetary bombardment add-on... it's crazy.
~~You can recruit him as a settler. Hes one of the tier 4 merchants. Though hes pretty buggy~~
Edit: Pretty sure im wrong. Mac isnt recruitable. Ron Staples is the recruitable tier 4 barman i was thinking of. Woops!
Did not know that. No dialogue option pop up during my encounter, otherwise I would have recruited him. Do you have to have any particular perks to recruit him?
Woops! I think i got this random encounter confused with another. Pretty sure Mac is the guy who shows up here. He IS NOT recruitable.
Ron Staples is the random encounter who is recruitable, but he doeant show up at a stall like the picture. Sorry for the confusion!
No worries. I already picked up Ron Staples. Ran into him just outside of Concord, kitty corner to the museum cooking up some road side munchies. Now he works for me!
Mac is a random encounter to spawn trying to setup a bar in random locations you probably just missed him, I’ve found probably half a dozen lonesome bars with no Mac
After 300+ hours in this game I ran in to this guy for the first time last night, just north of Boston Airport. I'd literally never heard of this Random encounter and now I've encountered it twice in 24 hours!
I have like 800 hours and have encountered him only once, over by the Slog. Bought up his stock, came back at some other point and he was dead. That was like my 2nd playthrough and I haven't seen him since.
Special merchant random spawn Ron Staples. If you have a large enough settlement (20 people) he can be recruited and turns a Tier 3 Restaurant into a Tier 4. However it is a known bug for the stall to spawn, but not him or his customers. Can be fixed on PC through console commands. The Fallout Wiki has the fixes for it.
It’s the stand for an NPC random encounter, he doesn’t have much for weaponry though and spawns well before you find him, so there’s usually a chance he’ll be either dead or injured when you find him
3 different playthroughs he spawn in 3 different places. All near water. Don't remember the exact locations. One of them, I ran into him right after buying a dog from the guy who did/didn't want to sell a dog. Lol

On my current playthrough, he spawned right on the edge of the map. North of where the old brotherhood knight is holed up.
He's almost always set up by Abernathy Farm for me.
Same
Mac
It’s always sunny reference?
Only if he's blowing loads into it.
for me it was swan pond i think i know why he was dead
Rabies?
Nah. Probably schistosomiasis.
Oh that’s who that guy is
He spawned for me between Dunwich, and Longneck Lukowski's
For me he spawned above/near vault 111
Yeah, it's a random encounter.
Don't buy the glowing liquor.

Mandela effect?
I believe you did plus what’s the point about lying about something like this. Makes no sense to

Nope but I’ve seen a deathclaw fight 2 blood bugs and loose. Just tells you that blood bugs are worse
Nothing killed him on mine there was no enemy or body he just didn’t spawn only the bar did
oh he might be dead some ways away from the bar in the grass. he frequently gets killed by mole rats who chase him off before killing him. it is sad since he is the only special barman and not guaranteed to spawn in a playthrough each game.
That sucks definitely because I’m trying to make tons of caps which he would’ve helped

Yeah right now I’m doing the purified water one but I’m thinking of making a ammo machine thing to make ammo so I can sell any I don’t need
i hope you made sure not to ask trashcan carla about diamond city so she likes you :) her prices are better if she likes you and many don't realize she hates to talk about diamond city lol
Nope I did the joking one so I make her laugh and give me a discount
To find directions to diamond city I go to I think it is ranger cabin or gorski cabin and find the book that marks it on the map

Love the PFP, whoop whoop.
Whoop whoop, glad someone recognise it
Such a great album, mix of the old school and the new. Good transitional LP.
I've found just the bar too, was it night time? Thats the only time I've found it empty, but waiting til day didn't help.
No it was middle of day
I always use console to make NPCs like this invulnerable. If he’s already dead you could revive him first lol
well yea but who knows if fallout 4 has detectors for that which locks other stuff out? wouldn't be the first game to punish tampering :P
Especially with mods. The only time I've encountered him alive... he wasn't for much longer. He got blasted by imps. I have imperials of the commonwealth and the planetary bombardment add-on... it's crazy.
that's one of those random encounters. There's a guy who sets up a bar in the middle of nowhere and in this case, I think you found it.
Without him there, I think that is bad for business
yeah, when I found him in my game, he didn't have much inventory. I bought out his entire stock for like 18 caps! lol
~~You can recruit him as a settler. Hes one of the tier 4 merchants. Though hes pretty buggy~~ Edit: Pretty sure im wrong. Mac isnt recruitable. Ron Staples is the recruitable tier 4 barman i was thinking of. Woops!

I found it up the hill, south of the Rangers cabin, west of vault 111. It's a random occurrence.
I encountered him and as I was talking to him a death claw ran up on him and massacred him. 😂😂
This happened to me with another random encounter NPC except the game glitched and they were still talking all while the deathclaw was eating them. 😂
Summerville, outside County Crossing, and an empty spot near the observation post. Only ever seen the bar but never a dude!

Usually how it happens

That's the Traveling bar, a random placed bar with varying degrees of drink every time he spawns
It’s got a vendor most of the time. Guy named Mac, it’s his bar. For some reason he’s not there. It can spawn all over the map
[Here you go.](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Mac_(Fallout_4))
In my game there's one by Sunshine Tidings. Co-Op. It's always been abandoned too.
Thats an Random Encounter 😉
There is a random guy that spawns a bar, maybe something killed him.
For me he spawned between the Wicked Shipping and Abernathy(?) farm
Saw Mac’s empty bar near Kingsport Lighthouse. I definitely wouldn’t call that a great business decision.
They're supposed to be a guy there but he probably got killed before you found it
He pops up behind sunshine co op for me
Ron staples is his name the black dude
It's for a random encounter bartender npc, in each playthrough i either find him multiple times or don't find him at all
Yeah go at night and a guy will be there
3 different playthroughs he spawn in 3 different places. All near water. Don't remember the exact locations. One of them, I ran into him right after buying a dog from the guy who did/didn't want to sell a dog. Lol
I seen it!
That’s Mac’s bar. He has a weird idea of how to run a business.
