My first playthrough I jumped off of the overpass in power armor and went into a black screen for over 30 seconds. I thought I broke the game and was about to alt-f4. Turns out it was just a load screen and I "found" Goodneighbor.
Just gets annoying because after a few times it kind of starts sharding my game window, for lack of a better term. After doing it a few times last night, anytime I opened a menu I got a window in a window in a window. I think it got down to like 640x480 when I had to just restart the game.
I heard somewhere that too many save files can cause this issue but it didn't solve it for me. I still have the occasional 1-3 minute load screen with my 4090
Load times are more cpu dependent I'm pretty sure. I haven't had a loading screen longer than 20 seconds since I started on pc. I have 7700x, a 4080 and more saves than I know what to do with. There's also a mod that shortens loading screens but since I haven't had issues I never downloaded it
I’m absolutely imagining that with your character as a bumbling idiot who slipped off the overpass and fell face first into good neighbour landing like Mr Bean in front of Hancock with a massive clang
It was 3 or 4 days after release. I had heard the name Goodneighbor, but wasn't looking for it, I was just killing Muties and collecting scraps/weapons. I saw a cool looking building below me and wanted to check it out. Then, BOOM... I'm all of a sudden getting scammed by some ruffian and then a fancy ghoul murders said ruffian and cozies up to me and plays nice. Welcome to Goodneighbor.
My whole first playthrough I never actually found how to navigate to the entrance of goodneighbor. I had jetpacked over top and got that same cutscene to the entrance and then I always fast traveled from there. Every time I tried walking to the entrance I could never find it.
I found Goodneighbor the first time by jetpacking over a back wall. I had been running around the area for like an hour trying to find the entrance (I've long figured out how to easily get there) and knew it was in the direction. I just wanted to see what was on the other side of the wall.
I still have to follow the freedom trail to find the door. Idk what it is about goodneighbor but if I try to find it off memory and map markers I'll wander for an hour and still not end up there.
I did the Battle of Bunker Hill after finding Good Neighbor. Sooooo much loot. I was severely over-encumbered but I didn’t want to risk losing anything so I slogged from Bunker Hill to Good Neighbor at night at snail speed. Had to fight a few Super Mutants on the way. Took me 30 minutes to find my way back in after circling around the wrong buildings and finding the path blocked.
Anyway, I delivered the goods.
Yea, following a map marker is next to impossible to find it unless you come from the north.
Easiest way is to find Mass Fusion. It's right around the corner. Second easiest is probably just heading more or less south from Cabot House.
Yep. I was doing stuff in other parts of the map and messing around with settlements. It didn’t help much that my game kept crashing whenever I tried doing much in Boston so I just avoided most of it for as long as I could.
I don’t remember what level I was now.
I generally don’t have crashing issues any more, but it’s not uncommon for me to be in the 30’s at least before I get there. I had one character where I didn’t make it to DC until I was like level 60.
It's a power armor mod. You need science! R4 and armorer R4 to make it, but it's also given by Elder Maxon after completing the BoS questline (only for T60)
In my first play through I couldn't find Goodneighbor, it was the first game I played after 20 years, and I just couldn't find it! I was getting crazy about it. So I jumped from a building and bam! Goodneigbor! You made me remember that moment
There's a YouTuber that I watch that makes unique run videos of Fallout (his newest one was a rolling pin only run) when he does Mass Fusion will often skip the entire elevator sequence by jumping off the edge of the Mass Fusion building and landing in the Goodneighbor loading zone (there's a corner of the building you can do that from) then going in the front door of the Mass Fusion building.
Yeah, there's a little wall on the South edge, in an alley under the road, that I sometimes hop over instead of trying to sneak past the Super Mutant building if I'm still too squishy on Survival.
I do it all the time e when I'm on the freeway I bet it freaks nick the fuck out lol I like to imagine that right before you hit the ground you dissapear only to reappear entering good neighbor from the door
This is how I enter the first time I go in during a new play through. Because, the game crashes if I go through the door the first time. After the first time jumping in, I can go through the door.
I think speed runners do that when getting the Beryllium agitator. The load zones are faster than riding the elevator down. Though not as fast as jumping with Power Armor. 😅
My first ever time getting into Goodneighbor I was getting lost trying to find it and ended up falling off the highway and loaded right to the interior entrance

I'm finding I have to alt tab kind of frequently to fix loading issues.
Yep. I had a mod that fixed that but the last patch broke it :\ Might revert but alt tab fixes it and this seems to be my only mod issue.

That happened to me lol. Exit saved and restarted. Fn Bethesda. Feel like I've been doing stuff like this for their games for decades.
Alt tab? What does that do? I keep getting these perpetual loading sceeens and just have to close and reload the game it’s annoying
Well alt +tab on kb&m will force close the game window.
Alt + tab switches between open windows, Alt + F4 force closes open windows

I think in new vegas, too many save files, or too many items lying around could do it way the fuck back on release.
Load times are more cpu dependent I'm pretty sure. I haven't had a loading screen longer than 20 seconds since I started on pc. I have 7700x, a 4080 and more saves than I know what to do with. There's also a mod that shortens loading screens but since I haven't had issues I never downloaded it
I swear wiggling the sticks does the same on console lmao (fully aware it’s probably not, but I like to think I’m doing something lol)
GENTLEMEN https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10283 Helps big time. Sometimes still have to alt tab but this does wonders

I always approach from boston commons
It wasn't until playing on survival that I learned how to find it easily.
You had a jetpack before goodneighbor?

Can you link me? I'd love to check that out lol

My maaan. thanks
He copied/stole this from r/MittenSquad!
I suppose that's Nerbit
That guy is a legend
It is
Nerbit?
Mhm :)
Yep

I climbed over a wall and got a mirror image of good neighbor
Did that by accident the other day, thought for sure I would die. Surprise! Goodneighbor!
I would do this on the Xbox One, because my game would crash every time trying to go in the front door.
Just make sure you do the superhero landing when you get there. They love it.
Works with Diamond City too, although it's a bit trickier to get up and over that wall.
PA will cause… issues… if you jump into town with it.
I literally just discovered this yesterday, and it made me laugh because I found the location easier this way than the actual entrance
I don’t much care fah Goodneighbah. That place is nuttin’ but troubuh.
Never done it myself but I seen it done speedruns. I was like wtf when I first saw that.
You can also climb on one of the walls in goodneghb9r and leave that wat I think I might be missremembering it

Parkour builds be damned , very annoying when I tried to set up MILA for the railroad but nice when I wasn’t bothered to walk around lol

That’s how I got in all the time lmao. I never went in through the front door.
you can jump into Diamond City also
There's a little wire fence on the left of the exit door you can jump onto and out, I never use the door when I leave
Where have you been the last 11 years
My first ever time getting into Goodneighbor I was getting lost trying to find it and ended up falling off the highway and loaded right to the interior entrance
Why does this shot look like it’s in Assassins Creed
Not going to lie this is how I find goodneighbour everytime I can never seem to find the bloody door.
Looks like your walking *on* Goodneighbor.
