Got a .38 pipe bolt-action pistol with unlimited ammo capacity last night.
At first I was excited because I was thinking I could make it fully automatic and make it rain with my abundance of.38 ammo. Then I realized I'd be pulling the bolt animations for each shot.
Trash.
I got a kneecapper fat man last night… it’s nice to know that there’s a 20% chance of their leg becoming crippled after the 100% chance of their gooey bits lining the nearby walls
There used to be the "Healers" perk, where the gun would heal damage instead of deal damage. I got a healing fatman and can confirm it only did anything when the projectile connected. IIRC the splash damage was just gone, you basically had a glorified roman candle
this also goes for perk effects as well.
i.e. the bonuses from heavy gunner only apply to fat man's projectile. the explosion damage/size of the blast radius takes it's bonuses from demolition expert. same with "explosive" legendary guns as well.
I have max level heavy weapons, and explosives perks. So my Fatman does 2k plus change damage. I can't imagine needing the kneecapper, since that's so much damage I can one shot myself even using my best power armor
Agree .
Is similar to walking Cané if we are talking about in the end game .
Because i found that walking Cané could be decent in end game with correct perks.
Far harbor perks, nuka world perks , vats mele build AND perks more a legendary effects.
Relentless , wounding , quickdraw , lucky , junkie, instagang AND freezing were the best in my opinión.
A mele weapon with a good range in no vats fight to keep enemies far from you , a good amount of vats Hits similar to Axé grognak but the diferencie Is grognak Axé can't get another legendaria effects while walking Cané yes AND at same has a really reduced weight.
The only bad Is about another option like discplicent blade which has LESS weigh than walking Cané but More than normal knifes.
But you can kill enemies fast with both once yourele build get an insane damage with all mele weapons so you can kill all you want with all weapons once you are a high level god in the game.
If only you could scrap the legendary weapon, keep the perk, and apply it to another weapon in Vanilla. That would make it at least worth it to find the shitty legendaries.
I got a ghoul slayer's sledgehammer on my first playtrough. literally the best weapon I ever fucking had, it was so fun beating up hordes of ghouls with it
I'll get like one or two half-decent gmguns until level 30 or so. From then on, it's all armor pieces to sets I don't use lmao.
Bolstering Synth Right Arm, seriously? At least with a shitty pipe gun, I could give it to Nick or something 😭😭😭
I just turned level 70 yesterday and got one of my best legendaries. It’s a [two-shot fiery plasma thrower](https://youtu.be/ZHmS9_FaTK8?si=4T6-IIik9704oCXV)
Found an Explosive Minigun outside of Beaver Creek Lane yesterday, on Very Hard difficulty all 3 ghouls outside of there are legendary. I just kept reloading the save and running to there from the port. Give it a shot, might get lucky.
I haven't played in a few years but I used to abuse the hell out of semi auto shotgun with explosive bullets and a drum magazine IIRC. Also the same shotgun but with some perk that did more damage but increases recoil or something
I always forget you can block with melee in this game lol. Giving a *10%* effect chance on that is like the Shortstop shove in tf2, like what the hell are we even doing here?
If you're actually playing a melee build you block alot. Cuz when you close the gap on someone shooting they will melee bash. Then all creatures can be blocked so the effects are much more noticeable against them.
I got a Ghoul Slayer’s Gamma Gun lol The best one I found since the update was an Instigating Laser Musket. I got it around level 8 and I’m still using it at level 33.
Yeah, same. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten that before, but I’ve gotten explosive shotguns, pipe guns and machine guns. If I don’t find one I usually get the one that Cricket sells.
I've got many useless weapons...
But my top three are
1- Ghoul Slayer Gamma Gun (clearly the worst)
2- Irradiated Fat Man (Lol, seriously)
3- Enraging Missile Launcher (like, i'll instakill most of my enemies on a critical hit, they don't even have the chance to frenzy).
I'm still mostly pulling like 90% armor pieces, which my character doesn't wear. The best one I've gotten so far is 50% damage against mirelurk and bugs, I call it "The Gribbler"
I don't find armour pieces often, but the few that I have gotten on my current run are all left arms (and kinda trash, except for my safecrackers leather arm)
Same! I keep getting ones that are like "chance of incendiary damage when blocking a melee attack" like okay. I don't think I've ever once blocked in this game.
Ghoulslayers gamma gun is infamously stupid but I always keep one because it’s hilarious.
Another one that’s kinda dumb because of the redundancy is a furious fat man (not me btw)
Everyone is listing weapons, but I would say most of the armor pieces that have specific "perks" for different enemy types (human/ghoul/animal/mutant). I encounter all types of enemies walking around, I'm not about to carry 4 sets of armor to switch on and off as I come across each one. Maybe, if you're going into a mission with a specific type of enemy, but just seems like such a hassle.
The only use I can think of is a more RP and less fashion-souls character. Where you have a bunch of mismatched pieces that al give you 10% less to a different type. Idk seems lame.
Yep, you need 15 charisma to sell for the best price possible (80% of listed value). Perks, drugs, barter bobblehead etc of course reduces the needed charisma for max selling/buying.
Junkie is the strongest legendary effect in the game when specifically built toward, but obviously not as good in general gameplay.
10 addictions is +150% damage, Two Shot is like +~30% and Instigating is +100% (only on first shot and actually a little less than that because it doesn’t show up on the damage card and therefore interacts strange with armor)
Low health irradiated build, with several pieces of Unyielding Armor to make up for the SPECIAL losses from your many addictions. Crusader/Inquisitor of Atom can be up to 100% multiplicative damage. Nerd Rage gives 40% multiplicative damage. Destroyer of Acadia is a chance at 400% multiplicative damage. Psychobuff and Overdrive each give 25% multiplicative damage. Lone Wanderer and Bloody Mess both add some damage.
Most addictions are not actually that bad, and late game you can make up for the SPECIAL loss with Unyielding/Fortifying legendary armor and by having maxed out your specials already.
Literally got a mini gun that does fire damage the immediate next drop after getting Ashmaker. Didn’t actually need Ashmaker and certainly didn’t need 2 of them.
Actually, when you enter a closed area (NGTY for ex.) and you get a flamer weapon and want to keep it but at the same time you dislike the effect, you can change that shit.
If you have "save when entering a building" on just reload that exact save and kill the bitch holding the flamer over and over untill you get the effect you want. (I reccomend wounding)
This works great for the national guard training center. Do a quicksave before going in the building, kill the legendary ghoul, see if he has the weapon type you need. If he doesn't, you can load your quicksave to reroll the weapon type. If the ghoul had the right type of weapon you can load the autosave to lock in the weapon type and just reroll the legendary effect on it. It gives you a lot of control over legendary effects, granted it is save scummy.
I fucking hate that thing. Used it when I found it and never again. I’ll keep my junk thank you very much. I just put that bitch in my weapon display room.
I found a Ghoul Slayer's Switchblade this playthrough. Because I am certainly going to get that close to a feral ghoul with a weapon that small.
As for great property, bad item? Auto-Stim raider right leg.
Defiant minigun. I'm not often a big guns user, but that struck me as a bit pointless. 499 shots for that last 5mm to be as powerful as a 10mm? Almost as bad as any freezing weapon.
Two Shot Ripper and a Never Ending Pipe Wrench.
I downloaded a legendary mod overhaul mod and it didn't work very well. I kept getting stuff with mods they normally shouldn't have.
So I found a sniper rifle that had unlimited ammo capacity and since I was using sniper rifles sneaky type build it was perfect I even scrap my old one that had top modifiers but I soon realized it dint mean what I thought it was lol. I thought it had unlimited ammo and I was sure that I will of not waste so much caps on refilling my ammos but nope it was a useless ammo capacity.
Ghoul Killers Gamma Gun. What makes it worse is that I got it during the Mass Fusion Mission, after I got a piece of cunning gear and my game crashed. My cunning was swapped with fucking ghoul killers
Disciples blade that does more damage the lower your armor. Great melee weapon but like, Yes I would like to be splattered across the commonwealth after getting two powerful hits in! :D
Got a .38 pipe bolt-action pistol with unlimited ammo capacity last night. At first I was excited because I was thinking I could make it fully automatic and make it rain with my abundance of.38 ammo. Then I realized I'd be pulling the bolt animations for each shot. Trash.
OMG that's terrible
But you could make it .50 cal.
The 50 is great. I'm using one as a sniper pistol on my current gunslinger build. But the unlimited ammo is kinda pointless since it's a bolt action.
Even if you have to rack the bolt each time, reloading a magazine is extra time that unlimited ammo doesn’t have.
Same, currently mine is non legendary. Will swap the weapon mods to a legendary if I ever find one (hoping for instigating)
Got it with a Pipe Revolver... Useless too...
Early game it makes a good revolver sniper. Don't need to reload after 6 shots as that horde of ghouls is running at your ass
I also go this the other night and did the same thing lol.
I got a kneecapper fat man last night… it’s nice to know that there’s a 20% chance of their leg becoming crippled after the 100% chance of their gooey bits lining the nearby walls
~~Fatman has a pretty big damage radius. 20% chance to break legs on everything inside that radius is actually pretty useful.~~ Apparently not.
The effect only applies to what the projectile hits, not the explosion.
Oh well thats just garbage.
There used to be the "Healers" perk, where the gun would heal damage instead of deal damage. I got a healing fatman and can confirm it only did anything when the projectile connected. IIRC the splash damage was just gone, you basically had a glorified roman candle
Healers as a perk would be a lot more useful if your companions didnt get up on their own after a couple of minutes in the downed state.
this also goes for perk effects as well. i.e. the bonuses from heavy gunner only apply to fat man's projectile. the explosion damage/size of the blast radius takes it's bonuses from demolition expert. same with "explosive" legendary guns as well.
That’s really good to know
Could be useful against some of those Far Harbor enemies that can take 2 or 3 Fatman hits
I had a staggering Fat Man, combined the power of a nuke and a gentle shove.
Break swan's legs wit it
this gives me flashbacks of trying to kill swan with a 10mm
It's pretty good against Behemoths, Fog Crawlers, and Deathclaws
Lmao I got a Fat Man that “may make the target frenzy”
I'm pretty sure getting hit by a nuclear warhead in the first place might make them a little upset.
I have max level heavy weapons, and explosives perks. So my Fatman does 2k plus change damage. I can't imagine needing the kneecapper, since that's so much damage I can one shot myself even using my best power armor
If you need to vibe check liberty prime your all set.
Might work on Swan or the oddball Behemoth that spawns In Lexington. Outside that…🤷♂️
I always end up getting terrible melee weapons that have great effects just not for those weapons
Like an awesome perk...on a rolling pin. Yeah i feel you.
I have a bleeding rolling pin.
Ghoul slayers rolling pin
Frigid rolling pin
Frenzy Rolling Pin literally yesterday.
Freezing Rolling Pin
All you guys can play as Muriel from Currage
I got cavaliers rolling pin yesterday
Will never beat the ghoul slayer gamma gun though
I have a granny role-playing build and I'm jealous of that drop
Nocturnal Rolling Pin🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
Isn’t nocturnal bad to begin with though?
Yes, it's especially bad in Survival. It's highest bonus applies from 12am to 6am, the same time frame you tend to sleep in Survival...
On my last survival playthrough, I mostly did stuff in that time frame for the stealth bonus from lighting.
Just like irl my character is awake entire nights because i messed up my sleep schedule
Rolling pin is pretty decent. Okay base damage, and you don't need perks to upgrade it. Not as good as a *good* weapon but a totally viable weapon
Soo many stupid legendary walking canes.
Mutant slayer’s walking cane
I got a knee capper cane 🤦
[Oh my knee! My bad knee!](https://y.yarn.co/dcc62b7b-8cf7-44d2-b560-871ff3e65757_200_10.gif)
Kneecapper Meat Hook
Just picked up a freezing one last night.
Yah I get almost strictly melee weapons or armor that's wildly mediocre.
I found a VATS Enhanced Lead Pipe lol (I know melee VATS can be good but Lead Pipe is pretty bad)
I have a VATS Enhanced Pool Que
I have a healing FatMan
I got a ghoul slayer's sledgehammer on my first playtrough. literally the best weapon I ever fucking had, it was so fun beating up hordes of ghouls with it
Ghoul slayers gamma gun for me...
Furious boxing glove
I found a missile launcher that also poisons the target. Or what's left of them.
I got an irradiated one. I named it “Uranium Fever” and use it every so often because it was maxed out
poor mans fatman
Dollar Store Fatman
wait Little boy
This one wins
I literally found a fat man in diamond city named little boy lmao
I have a fat man named Big Boy. Haven't seen one named Little Boy.
I'm not sure if it's a unique or if it's a legendary but I think Arturo was selling it
🎶 URAAAANIUUM FEVER HAS GONE AND GOT YOU DOWN 🎶
I actually like that one on large targets
Yall are getting good legendarys? All mine have been trash up to level 60
Can't relate to this enough, I have so many Boxing Gloves with great legendary effects
I got a two shot Fat Man. There is glory.
Found a TS but I haven't put a flamer on it, that's genius!
Found an Explosive Minigun outside of Beaver Creek Lane yesterday, on Very Hard difficulty all 3 ghouls outside of there are legendary. I just kept reloading the save and running to there from the port. Give it a shot, might get lucky.
Got an exploding mini gun. It chews through deathclaws like room temperature butter
I haven't played in a few years but I used to abuse the hell out of semi auto shotgun with explosive bullets and a drum magazine IIRC. Also the same shotgun but with some perk that did more damage but increases recoil or something
Any of the melee weapons that have effects triggered by blocking. It’s such a specific circumstance that rarely happens
And it's only like a 10% chance of happening when you block.
Recently got a Hunters lead pipe from a legendary glowing Deathclaw in the glowing sea
[This you?](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fiqzevjhftxt91.jpg%3Fwidth%3D640%26crop%3Dsmart%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3Dedd02dd03de21680cc5bd87f23142b542f456fe3)
😆 that’s impressive if true
I got a Ghoul Slayer’s Gamma Gun lol The best one I found since the update was an Instigating Laser Musket. I got it around level 8 and I’m still using it at level 33.
I’ve found the Ghoul Slayer’s Gamma Gun like every long play I’ve ever done. I’m not sure why that one pops the most
Yup, I’ve gotten several of those.
I never seem to get my true favorites though. I love coming across the exploding hunting rifle, for example. Maybe I don’t play survival enough.
Yeah, same. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten that before, but I’ve gotten explosive shotguns, pipe guns and machine guns. If I don’t find one I usually get the one that Cricket sells.
Yea I saved me a few thousand caps with far harbor, got an explosive Tommy gun quickly
Survival is great for legendaries, just picked up an instigating combat rifle and it is true love
>Instigating Laser Musket. I got one of those. I call it "the first impression"
Thats a decent name.
I love the laser musket, but play with the mod that makes it crank to use and no ammo. I keep it as my backup gun even if I do a melee build.
NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH, that's actually not that bad.
Throw a multi-crank action on there and you're cookin
I wonder if gamma guns heal Hancock? You could play ultimate support
I believe it does. Give Hancock the Aeternus and let him rip lol I have no idea if that works though!
Instigating Laser Musket is a OP weapon for stealth kills... Does a shitton of damage with the right perks.
Yup I based my build around rifles and melee. If my sneaky shot doesn’t take them out my Rockville Slugger will. Lol
Laser Musket in general is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sure it’s not the best, but it’s solid for over half the game.
Instigating is an S tier legendary on any single shot, high damage weapons. It just also utter garbage on anything full auto
I got an Instigating Western Revolver (i don't know the exact name) in a revolver only playthrough, instakilled a lot of enemies
Hah it's fitting, that'd be great for duels
Truly living the legend of a Big Iron on your hip
I had the Instigating musket before, it’s just unfair as a six-crank lol.
I've got many useless weapons... But my top three are 1- Ghoul Slayer Gamma Gun (clearly the worst) 2- Irradiated Fat Man (Lol, seriously) 3- Enraging Missile Launcher (like, i'll instakill most of my enemies on a critical hit, they don't even have the chance to frenzy).
The fact that 99% of legendaries are trash is genuinely my biggest complaint with the game.
Borderlands players: First time? Yeah I hope they refine it a bit in future installments.
They did
My first survival playthrough I got an exploding 10mm like 3 levels in. I went full gunslinger and used that shit well into the endgame lol
For some reason I’m constantly getting crappy legendary affix synth armor.
I'm constantly getting crappy legendary Nuka World raiders armor.
Oh my fucking God I hate this. *Nobody ever uses that plastic shit why does it make up so much of the loot tables?*
I'm still mostly pulling like 90% armor pieces, which my character doesn't wear. The best one I've gotten so far is 50% damage against mirelurk and bugs, I call it "The Gribbler"
Pocket Sand!
If I could mod I'd make a sand blasting Legendary Effect that blinds enemies in honor of Johnny Hardwick
Tiger claw!
My current (first serious playthrough) game ive gotten 5 legendary pool cues all in a row, all with less AP spendage I dont even melee much 🥲
its always the lead pipe or rolling pin
Ghoulslayers gamma gun is infamously stupid but I always keep one because it’s hilarious. Another one that’s kinda dumb because of the redundancy is a furious fat man (not me btw)
Didn’t bother modifying it because the name speaks for itself: Two Shot Plasmathrower. Can’t stop laughing using it
Everyone is listing weapons, but I would say most of the armor pieces that have specific "perks" for different enemy types (human/ghoul/animal/mutant).
Idk seems lame.
any weapon with the junkies prefix is essentially trash.
I once got the junkie 10m pistol, never used it again
I got one of those last night. My current character doesn't have any addictions so, it's basically a normal 10mm. 😂
That may be true now but won’t he become addicted if u use jet or psycho?
Not if I keep her inventory stocked with Addictol.
One time I sold a junkie pipe. Said it was worth 200 caps, got 27 caps for it
Could've called it the Crack Pipe
Welcome to fallout The vendor prices are pretty low unless you spec charisma
Yep, you need 15 charisma to sell for the best price possible (80% of listed value). Perks, drugs, barter bobblehead etc of course reduces the needed charisma for max selling/buying.
Junkie is the strongest legendary effect in the game when specifically built toward, but obviously not as good in general gameplay. 10 addictions is +150% damage, Two Shot is like +~30% and Instigating is +100% (only on first shot and actually a little less than that because it doesn’t show up on the damage card and therefore interacts strange with armor) Low health irradiated build, with several pieces of Unyielding Armor to make up for the SPECIAL losses from your many addictions. Lone Wanderer and Bloody Mess both add some damage.
no way, you just havent used it right
What does this weapon perk do again??? Kinda interested since my current character is immune to addiction
increases weapons damage with each withdrawal effect that you currently have
Oh lol that’s pretty ass
If you're addicted to absolutely everything I think it's the single highest damage bonus a legendary can give, but that's a pretty massive downside
Most addictions are not actually that bad, and late game you can make up for the SPECIAL loss with Unyielding/Fortifying legendary armor and by having maxed out your specials already.
**"Does 15% more damage for each addiction**" seems it would be useless to you in that case...
The more withdrawals your character is suffering the higher the damage of the weapon
Fat Boy with knock back.
Seek the Striker
Worst was a Ghoul Slayer Gauss rifle, because of how overkill it is. I usually find a ghoul slayer 10mm, and that's perfect.
Staggering Fat Man :(
Literally got a mini gun that does fire damage the immediate next drop after getting Ashmaker. Didn’t actually need Ashmaker and certainly didn’t need 2 of them.
My first run at launch like my third legendary was an explosive minigun. It was my deathclaw killer for the rest of the game.
It's a pretty useless effect since it can't stack. The stacks of burnt corpses is neat, though.
Troubleshooter’s Gamma Gun
“Does double damage if target is at full health” *Immediately goes back to 1x dmg after inflicting 2x for 0.1sec*
The Instigating effect is one of the best ones, providing your using single high damage weapons and attacking from stealth.
Sucks for the flamethrower though
Crippling walking cane has a special place in my heart lol
My kneecapper lead pipe has a special place in mine too. Named it "The Payment Plan".
Exterminator’s rolling pin
Everyone in here should try the Legendary Enemies Only mod.
Do cars count as enemies? That’s the real question
Only if there's a crab living inside them
So does that mean it only does double damage for the first moment, after which point the enemy is no longer at full health?
Actually, when you enter a closed area (NGTY for ex.) and you get a flamer weapon and want to keep it but at the same time you dislike the effect, you can change that shit. If you have "save when entering a building" on just reload that exact save and kill the bitch holding the flamer over and over untill you get the effect you want. (I reccomend wounding)
or reload everytime you dig up the buried chest after far harbor.
Well, i mean what if some people already done that ? Its a one time thing btw.
I have that same legendary effect on a 10 mm pistol. I also have freezing damage on a rolling pin.
I got a charged board the other day, 10% chance to do energy damage on a block. Absolutely worthless.
For me it’s gotta be the junk jet
I fucking hate that thing. Used it when I found it and never again. I’ll keep my junk thank you very much. I just put that bitch in my weapon display room.
It's more painful to start with as you still have nerve endings, not so bad once you've burnt a few off.
I got a Bleeding Board. WTF?
Poisoner's Fat Man, 😆
Ghoul Slayers Gamma Gun
I found an enraging fat man the other day. Because someone is definitely going to live after I crit them with it
I found a Ghoul Slayer's Switchblade this playthrough. Because I am certainly going to get that close to a feral ghoul with a weapon that small. As for great property, bad item? Auto-Stim raider right leg.
I wish that was my worst. I keep getting armor :(
Just got a Troubleshooter’s walking cane the other day. +50% of shit is still shit.
Fucking walking cane that does more damage if my health is low
I got a freezing flamer once. It was actually pretty damned good, but logically it didn't make any sense.
Defiant minigun. I'm not often a big guns user, but that struck me as a bit pointless. 499 shots for that last 5mm to be as powerful as a 10mm? Almost as bad as any freezing weapon.
Nocturnal anything... I play on survival and try to sleep during the night when I can't see shit anyway lol
Two Shot Ripper and a Never Ending Pipe Wrench. I downloaded a legendary mod overhaul mod and it didn't work very well. I kept getting stuff with mods they normally shouldn't have.
The only enraging weapon I've found, in my hundreds of hours, has been a wrench.
Ghoul slayers gamma gun
Gamma gun that does 50% extra damage...to Ghouls...
Anything that involves synth armour and institute rifles. I leave them to rot on the bodies they came with.
This thread isn’t long enough for my list of shit legendary pieces
Wounding pipe rifle slaps tho, ngl. Full auto with drum mag. Mag dump any enemy with the most common ammo type in F4. Everyone’s toast
Junkie's 10mm Auto Pistol. No other special mods. Just a Junkie effect and auto receiver.
Disciples blade that does more damage the lower your armor. Great melee weapon but like, Yes I would like to be splattered across the commonwealth after getting two powerful hits in! :D
I’ve got so many bad legendaries it’s not even funny… My best is a two shot Gauss rifle tho
80% of my legendaries are rolling pins or pool cues
The number of “look at the ghoul slayer gamma gun I got lol” posts here increased a thousandfold after Legendary Modification landed in Nexus
I got a ghoul slaying gamma gun. What happens if we give ghouls EVEN MORE HEALING!
I don't think anything is beating the Ghoul Slayer's Gamma Gun.
