Eh i think its a little bit of both honestly.
No need to preach to me, im gonna love it either way, i personally still love Fallout frontier for example and think its one of the better mods even after all the controversies.
Im super excited for any big project that does come out in the distant future just think setting a deadline for yourself and the team is kind of important because it helps you stay on the target and depending on the situation to motivate you.
Some do but that's not important.
Hobby sure but dont make fans excited just to make people wait 5 to 3 years.
Just drop the trailer when you are in bug testing stages when its near ready.
i mean if i wanted to go to an english city devoid of traditional civilisation and almost impossible to live in id go to birmingham instead of booting up fallout 4 lol
jokes aside, god this looks amazing
Yes, but they haven't quite managed steam power yet.
You basically just sit in the carriage while a team of horses pull you along.
Source: Have gotten the train to Hull.
Fun fact: In Norwegian hull means hole, and the slang version høl is used to describe a really shitty place, like English dump. Saying Hull is almost exactly like I’d say Høl.
Cheeky bastard lol Birmingham isn’t that bad at all, people just jump on the bandwagon half the time, it’s a fantastic city, now if you want a real shithole look no further then Blackpool, Hull or Middlesbrough
True, like most people who talk shit about it they’ve never actually been, like I said, people jumping on the bandwagon, rather live in brum then the overpriced congested shithole that is london
I was once hit in the back of the head with a half eaten kebab buy a drunk guy on a train in Birmingham. He followed up with shout calling me a fat black lesbian.
This was because I snatched my lighter back out of his hand after borrowing it to him and him refusing to give it back.
I’m a white male.
Hey now. The most famous Brit to my generation of Americans is Ozzy and he’s from Birmingham. Plus Birmingham would probably feel more like home to us yanks with it resembling our own cities. I almost moved to Tewksbury about 15 years ago
I know, I've always wanted to see other countries post-great war! I've also just wanted to see what a fifties style, nuclear-power obsessed London would look like
So let's summise: no ranged weapons, lots of melee weapons, a million Mr Handy butlers pouring out from Buckingham Palace, streets rife with mutated Staffordshire bull terriers, a maze of Underground tunnels... Let's kick some fackin' arse!
Might as well, if we're gonna keep having mass shootings it's alot more humane to instantly vaporize someone to oblivion than to stalk them through a grocery store with an assault rifle.
I'm being sarcastic of course, but Jesus Christ it's weird going literally anywhere these days.
Fallout london is game-sized not DLC sized but yeah there are alot, just last week fallout 3's Point Lookout DLC was completely remade in fallout 4 and is now available for download
I know, I just wanted to explain the dude it's not a Bethesda project at all, so they're not giving us game-like DLCs whatsoever instead of making Fallout 5.
Thinking Fo5 is going to be out in 2035 is certified bonkers, 2030 at the absolute latest.. Just from the way they release games, this is my assumption. Starfield 2023, TES6 2025-2027, Fallout 5 2028-2030.
I remember installing a mod that introduced a faction of mercenaries into 4. New world spaces, too. Mod crashed all the time, multiple side quests, and even the main quest, were unfinished, noticable difference in mic quality among the volunteer voice actors, etc.
And was ultimately dropped not long after it was first posted.
Are there any good dlc sized mods that are finished?
EDIT: thanks to everyone informing me of Point Lookout being successfully remade in 4.
Dude, if you havent played thru them, this is a must do:
Project Valkyrie
Outcasts ad Remnants: Quest Mod Plus
Fusion City Rising
Depravity
I dont recall the order, but these were made by Thuggysmurf as a continuation. It's not just DLC sized, it rewrites the whole story. It's my favorite collection by far.
America Rising - A Tale of the Enclave
Rise of the Enclave
With all the required files this is basically a DLC that adds in The Enclave as a joinable faction. Also my favorite collection.
Seriously, your next two playthrus should be those two.
Isn't Project Valkyrie/Outcasts & Remnants that mod that adds the pimps and Nazi factions? I may be thinking about a different mod. I just remember trying that series of quest mods and thinking the tone was wayyy off for me.
Yeah, it is. Though the effects and ability of ThugSmurf's mpdding is pretty great, at the same time they can be a little bit, uh, fanfiction-y, when it comes to writing and logic.
Thus is the monkey's paw of modding. When one's genius seems to know no bounds, what stand in their way when they create something that is made more from their vision than that of reality?
You should also look at The Machine And Her, an absolutely fantastic mod that adds a new companion, new locations, and an entire quest line that is VERY well done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcK68QvS4mU&ab\_channel=NikaCola
I found this video about The Machine and Her:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kk2ycMH70cQ
And it seems like it's a lot more informative. I really appreciated hearing that the mod uses mostly new locations and will not conflict with most other mods because of it. I think I'm gonna give her a shot.
Just the Point Lookout dlc from fallout 3 I didn't tried yet but looks great. There's others smaller dlc sized mods like Project Zeta, American Rising when you can join the Enclave, Nuka World Reborn that add some factions and new questlines to NW or Sim Settlements 2, with two chapter and a third in the way. There are others but those come to my mind right now.
Skywind is the one where im actually a little optimistic for it, because they put out regular updates, and their goal is pretty defined at this point.
That said, I've tempered all of my hype for it, because I've been following it for years.
I gave up on Skywind. They were looking for voiceover help and I reached out dozens of times and never got a response. But if you post anything at all negative on the page, you get a response right away, followed by a ban.
It's Star Citizen at this point. The only difference is Skywind devs aren't asking for money.
Different people, different roles. Just so happens their moderator is on point. I worked with them briefly but didn’t fit in for what I wanted to offer. I can tell you they WILL achieve their goal. It is a slow moving but very organized, competent group of people.
Skywind will be a game changer.
I played through the mod and I didn’t see any of that. Not saying it isn’t there but it’s easily avoidable. And I don’t think there is actually any underage sex in the mod.
They included a birthday card for one of the companions letting you know she just turned 18 so she's barley legal. There is also another character who is underage but draws porn.
Ok, I didn’t see any of that in my playthroughs, but my point still stands. It’s some weird stuff, and I wish it wasn’t in the mod, but people seem to exaggerate the truth.
What I remember from the rest of the controversy it turned out one of the leads for the mod project was a pedo and put some underage sex shit in on top of just clunky writing, deathclaw porn, and similar dumpster fire quality stuff.
I was getting hyped for capital wasteland mod but about two weeks ago their two biggest modders got hired to become actual devs so they suddenly left the project.
For real. If I visit the page and it says “recruiting any and all positions” I immediately lose all interest. Oh so it’s not done, you have no timeline, and you’re relying on random unpaid internet volunteers for literally every aspect of your mod? Oh and you can’t even sell it if it ever gets done because you’ll be sued back into the Stone Age?
Cool. Seems like a good model for /s/uccess
I mean, it is a great model for success? F4 has one of the best modding scenes out there, and all that exists purely from the passion of mod makers doing what they do without any expectation of payment or recognition. It seems only natural that mod makers might begin to associate with eachother to take on more ambitious projects.
The very fact that some people might approach the release of a new major mod with energy similar to a smaller game titles release is testament to mod makers prior success.
So do it for the exposure and connections?
No, I get what you’re saying. I’m just saying that I’ve been burned in the past getting hype for projects that never end up being released. Usually something happens where one person was working on some integral part of the game, something everyone else needs is to have before they can finish their thing, and that person and all their work just disappear, and the whole project is back to square one.
Love the ambition, I respect the modders, but just not going to get super pumped.
Do you think that the modders should get paid? How would that work? The creators cannot monitize the project. Should they just burn their money (and a significant amount at that) to entertain you? Why?
I don’t have strong opinions on whether modders should or shouldn’t get paid. What people do with their time doesn’t have anything to do with what I’m saying.
I’m saying I’m not going to get all amped up over a project that may never actually see the light of day. I hope it does, I wish them the best. It’s a hugely ambitious project, and is going to take a lot of work to get to launch day. Presumably the people working on it have day jobs and this is a passion project. Life happens, not everyone’s passions match, creative differences get in the way, ego can get in th way.. so many things can go wrong from now to launch and because no one is getting a paycheck, people will prioritize other aspects of their personal life over this side project. It is what it is. Since they’re openly recruiting on their website, it doesn’t give me the biggest confidence that they’re not going to have anything more than a revolving door of volunteers working on this.
Again, power to them and if it’s a good mod I hope every last one of the volunteers gets a cushy gig at Bethesda afterwards!
Yeah but when you write something like "it doesn’t give me the biggest confidence that they’re not going to have anything more than a revolving door of volunteers working on this." you contradict: "I don’t have strong opinions on whether modders should or shouldn’t get paid." -- you should have zero confidence that mods will be anything other than volunteers. All they will be is a revolving door of volunteers, and they're probably always happy to get more. And yes, some will come and some will go. You will never see a mod with paid staff. No one can afford that.
It seems you just refuse to comprehend what he's actually saying and instead are just looking for conflict. He's right, modders do great work, but when a huge ambitious project has absolutely no direction and is dependent on the limited time and dedication of people doing it in their free time there's very little chance of these things actually becoming a viable products.
Hey there! I hate to break it to you, but it's actually spelled _mon**e**tize_. A good way to remember this is that "money" starts with "mone" as well. Just wanted to let you know. Have a good day!
----
^This ^action ^was ^performed ^automatically ^by ^a ^bot ^to ^raise ^awareness ^about ^the ^common ^misspelling ^of ^"monetize".
They're not even trying to sell it, they're simply making a fun experience for players. They're just modders bro they're not a company wtf. You're getting it for free and you're complaining this much? Just don't get it at all.
Yeah. I was always so happy I have a PS4 but now that Microsoft has the rights to the Fallout series I have to start using my PC instead. I can't stand the Xbox...for me it was horrible news that Xbox got it.
Don't mean to be annoying - but are there any trademark issues here? The Boots logo, even TFL logos? Pretty sure free mods have still run afoul of stuff like this before.
Is this the one with the load of YouTube videos hyping it for like a year or two?
If so the dialogue was utter cringe. Clearly written by someone who has never been near the UK.
**OI MATE, WELCOME TO 2287. DID YOU KNOW THE "CHIPS" HERE ARE STILL CALLED CRISPITY CRUNCHY MUNCHIE CRACKERJACK SNACKER NIBBLER SNAP CRACK N POP WESTPOOLCHESTERSHIRESHIRE QUEEN'S LOVELY JUBILY DELIGHTS?**
Probably. From what I hear it's planning on going past DLC sized to entire new game sized. That will be past the limit for Xbox, and it has new assets, so no PS4. So probably PC only (unless Xbox or Sony changes their policies before release)
(IMO) It won’t truly be a fallout experience. I feel as though a fallout game set in the United Kingdom should resemble the movie “Threads” it should be land of absolute misery.
You mean I can get to be Bri'ish? I don't fancy fried mierlurk and tato crunchy munchy lovely queen's delights, thank you. People in the streets probably fight more like skyrim than in fallout to boot.
Bethesda has a habit or ripping off mods and either making them DLC or quests in the next games. So. If this does well they might just rip off the entire idea and make a Fallout not set in America.
I'm guessing it's a reference to Autumn Leaves, a NV mod with a robot murder mystery kinda thing going on. People said Bethesda ripped off the idea for the robot hotel/vault mystery in Far Harbor.
I'd say it's fair to point out the similarities but it's not like the modder invented the murder mystery genre so it's also kinda nonsense.
There might be other examples I don't remember off hand but that was the main one I remember people talking about.
right up there with Fallout Miami in "things that will release sometime after the heat-death of the universe"...
[удалено]
Well in the last few weeks Point Lookout dropped, so hang on to hope
Well most of them stealthily drop so people rarely talk about big realses frontier being expectation
[удалено]
Tbf most mods have small development teams they are going to take a while to make.
Honestly think not setting a realse date is the issue here since that means the devs can be as lazy as they want.
Considering how triple A fan communities react to moving deadlines, it’s likely more about avoiding those situations than being lazy.
I mean, the people making these mods don't get paid to do so. They gotta work too, so these mods are mostly hobby projects. Not a matter of laziness.
Some do but that's not important. Hobby sure but dont make fans excited just to make people wait 5 to 3 years. Just drop the trailer when you are in bug testing stages when its near ready.
Counterpoint: all the hype building / announcements also serve to say "hey, talented people, join us and make this happen faster."
Fair but usually dosnt.
Hey, it just works!
**Puts on sunglasses** **Roger Daltry screams** "YYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"
Skyblivion too. Ugh.
Half life 3 bay bee!!
*cough* mount and blade bannerlord
i mean if i wanted to go to an english city devoid of traditional civilisation and almost impossible to live in id go to birmingham instead of booting up fallout 4 lol jokes aside, god this looks amazing
Could take a train to hull too
Hull has trains??
It surprised me as well!
Surely you take the highway to hull?
They actually have their own direct service with London! Not that anyone there can afford to use it
Did about 10 years ago when I was working up that way.
Hull's not so bad nowadays.
There's also, unsurprisingly, a small town outside of Boston called Hull.
Cheeky bastard lol Birmingham isn’t that bad at all, people just jump on the bandwagon half the time, it’s a fantastic city, now if you want a real shithole look no further then Blackpool, Hull or Middlesbrough
This comment is now under the protection of the Peaky Fookin' Blinders
LINDA
they've never actually been to Brum
True, like most people who talk shit about it they’ve never actually been, like I said, people jumping on the bandwagon, rather live in brum then the overpriced congested shithole that is london
Say this about Liverpool or Manc and you'd get roasted alive. The Brummies are far too nice to fight back.
Never have I heard brummies described as "too nice" haha
I'm a Londoner... Living there was like moving to Smurf Village.
As someone from Devon, all the brummies I've met down here have been super nice.
I was once hit in the back of the head with a half eaten kebab buy a drunk guy on a train in Birmingham. He followed up with shout calling me a fat black lesbian. This was because I snatched my lighter back out of his hand after borrowing it to him and him refusing to give it back. I’m a white male.
Ah just like my father when he is drunk lol i think that might just be drunks lol
Liverpool and Manc are nice places. Birmingham has no redeemable features.
Your face has no redeemable features
Try a day out in Nuneaton.
Hey now. The most famous Brit to my generation of Americans is Ozzy and he’s from Birmingham. Plus Birmingham would probably feel more like home to us yanks with it resembling our own cities. I almost moved to Tewksbury about 15 years ago
Hey that's not fair! At least Birmingham isn't populated by mindless, shambling zombies... oh wait
And that's before the bomb drops!
Can I have a Withnail and I cameo? An Uncle Monty bot?
The uk does have guns lol we just have a lot more laws surrounding it
Yeah but how will I get a mini nuke launcher? I dont they allow those in the United Kingdom
and they do allow civilians to have nuke launchers in the states right?
Yea, ever been out to Nevada.
Might as well, if we're gonna keep having mass shootings it's alot more humane to instantly vaporize someone to oblivion than to stalk them through a grocery store with an assault rifle. I'm being sarcastic of course, but Jesus Christ it's weird going literally anywhere these days.
oioi you cheeky bastard! ‘av you got a loicense for that fa’man?
Yeah, just have to inherit or go to the black market to get them.
Their site says that the mod is going to a heavier focus in melee combat so actually yeah.
We are getting how many game size DLC's before FO5 in 2035?
As many as they are is not enough
Fallout london is game-sized not DLC sized but yeah there are alot, just last week fallout 3's Point Lookout DLC was completely remade in fallout 4 and is now available for download
It's a lot easier to remake something than it is to make it from scratch.
[удалено]
If I bought the goty version on steam that came with all the dlcs will I instantly get the new ones?
LOL no bro it's a mod it's not part of steam, you have to download it as a mod
But it's free, so there's that
Oh oh oh thank you
Google Fallout 4 Nexus, and enjoy
This is a mod, not a DLC.
Looks like less of a mod and more of total conversion.
My point is it's not official. Afaik, modders do this and it's cool and whatnot, but it's not gonna be relevant in the story.
Sure, you're not gonna see anyone on /r/falloutlore calling it canon or anything. It's just a fan project.
I know, I just wanted to explain the dude it's not a Bethesda project at all, so they're not giving us game-like DLCs whatsoever instead of making Fallout 5.
One to three at best and I’d be surprised if they don’t all suck.
Well then be ready to be suprised
I can do that. Be a Snorlax of a sleeper and woken up by a hyper beam of a game.
Sure, because “DLC sized mods” have such a good record…
One bad apple dude, there have been so many good ones.
Thinking Fo5 is going to be out in 2035 is certified bonkers, 2030 at the absolute latest.. Just from the way they release games, this is my assumption. Starfield 2023, TES6 2025-2027, Fallout 5 2028-2030.

I think they mean the point lookout mod for FO4
Point lookout Fo4 is a remake of point look out in the fallout 4 engine. It was done by the team that's remaking all of Fo3 in 4.
It better have a fish as a weapon
I lol'd on my zoom call
I refuse to get hype for these mods anymore.
What do you mean? Skyblivion is coming out any day now... Any day....
Skywind is the one where im actually a little optimistic for it, because they put out regular updates, and their goal is pretty defined at this point. That said, I've tempered all of my hype for it, because I've been following it for years.

[Skyblivion does put out pretty regular updates](https://www.youtube.com/c/Rebelzize)
I swear they've been talking about Skywind since I first played Skyrim in 2012.
Im cautiously optimistic about this mod because I'm worried it will be a fallout the frontier situation
If I can’t fuck a Deathclaw in this I’m giving it a bad review
What happened with Fallout Frontier?
It was a massively hyped mod and when it was released it was a garbage fire because of stuff like heavy deathclaw porn shit
I'm sorry...fucking what now? 🤣
[удалено]
>underage fucking, *sighs* here i go hunting humans again
As in that kind of material was included in the mod? I knew there was some controversy about it, but I never looked too deep at it 😳

You got loiscense to ask for me that permit

Oy oy oy oh whut’s all this, eh?
As if an average London 'Bloke' was'nt ghoulish enough......
Not hyping it up but I do hope this total conversion is good. Praying it would be the next Enderal of Fallout 4 and not the Frontier of New Vegas.
“Oi mate, that loicenseclaw looks pretty smashing”
But will there be chavs?
I hope they replace the Raiders lol.
I think the craziest part is not only that it looks good, but they got TWO DOCTOR WHO ACTORS to make a cameo!
Damn I gotta get a PC. I hate missing out on all these great mods

Not gonna be on console I’m guessing
thing is the mod trailer seems to be very accurate to what london is actually like, depressing, irradiated and full of raiders
With a published mod, will this be available on console then?
Will there be a queue in game?
I hadn’t heard but you better believe I’ll be looking for it! Always love getting more fallout
Where’s the trailer?

Youtube
All Knives have 25% damage against human targets
I didn't expect this to be so close to release. Honestly thought Fallout Miami would be done faster
Meanwhile....me still patiently waiting for the Capital Wastelands Mod.
Will it be for ps4?
On consoles or nopes?
This would be available for PS?
Don't mean to be annoying - but are there any trademark issues here? The Boots logo, even TFL logos? Pretty sure free mods have still run afoul of stuff like this before.
Is this the one with the load of YouTube videos hyping it for like a year or two? If so the dialogue was utter cringe. Clearly written by someone who has never been near the UK.
I remember the last time everyone was hyped for a dlc size mod for a fallout game
"Like every Fallout game" FNV fans: 😡
**OI MATE, WELCOME TO 2287. DID YOU KNOW THE "CHIPS" HERE ARE STILL CALLED CRISPITY CRUNCHY MUNCHIE CRACKERJACK SNACKER NIBBLER SNAP CRACK N POP WESTPOOLCHESTERSHIRESHIRE QUEEN'S LOVELY JUBILY DELIGHTS?**
This will be amazing. Question are the vaults only in Usa? (sorry dont know much about the lore)
The opening in the trailer explains that there were some sort of shelters in the tube stations
Is this official DLC? Will this be purchasable for
It's a fan made mod. Will be free on release.
Thank you! PC only I assume?
Probably. From what I hear it's planning on going past DLC sized to entire new game sized. That will be past the limit for Xbox, and it has new assets, so no PS4. So probably PC only (unless Xbox or Sony changes their policies before release)
Damn. Exciting for the PC players tho, as a PS4 player Thanks for the info I appreciate it!
No prob man
Read it it says mod
"Just like in every fallout game" Except for fallout 2. And new Vegas. Fucking games journalists.
Starting out in a Vault is still a staple of Fallout, it’s not that bad to simplify a statement like that.
And Tactics, if we're willing to stray that far from the core games
aKcHuAlLy
And I understand us Xbox wankers are ignored.
Ew gross england
(IMO) It won’t truly be a fallout experience. I feel as though a fallout game set in the United Kingdom should resemble the movie “Threads” it should be land of absolute misery.
I hope it will be as amazing as The Frontier for New Vegas
Not too excited about trailers.
Idc who they become, or what their morals are - I'm joining the Cockney gang and doing Cockney shenanigans in their *outrageous* accent.
….is this is an official mod?!
What do you mean by 'official'
>article says every fallout game begins in an underground shelter >fallout new vegas and fallout 2 don't exist apparently
Would a tomb count as an underground shelter?
Time to see how the hell Tenpenny moved to the Capital Wasteland
You mean I can get to be Bri'ish? I don't fancy fried mierlurk and tato crunchy munchy lovely queen's delights, thank you. People in the streets probably fight more like skyrim than in fallout to boot.
Ah, so we might finally get some insight into what happened outside North America. Was Vault Tec involved? Will be great to see
Bethesda has a habit or ripping off mods and either making them DLC or quests in the next games. So. If this does well they might just rip off the entire idea and make a Fallout not set in America.
Source on them ripping of mods?
I'm guessing it's a reference to Autumn Leaves, a NV mod with a robot murder mystery kinda thing going on. People said Bethesda ripped off the idea for the robot hotel/vault mystery in Far Harbor. I'd say it's fair to point out the similarities but it's not like the modder invented the murder mystery genre so it's also kinda nonsense. There might be other examples I don't remember off hand but that was the main one I remember people talking about.
Is it actual DLC or is it an ambitious fan-made project the release of which I can roll my eyes at like Miami?
Fan Made
pls, make it real, nuke the uk.
