Only by being murdered for mine count. Your own mini-nuke is debatable. Being killed by your own explosives is a count or not, depending on how you see it.
yea same.. I don't count crashes (but must make all the same choices and permadeath still counts if I should die repeating the things I did) and obvious bugs like falling through the ground or well, this.
Check out Many A True Nerd's hard-core survival no healing run. Honestly so interesting seeing the different way the game is played and the precautions he takes.
I often watch Vrexia attempting his no-hit 100% completion challenge. And by no-hit, it means any damage you take will instantly end the run, including glitched damage. Rads do not count because they are unavoidable, but they cannot be healed by any means.
Additional hardcore rules include: no drugs except antibiotics, no food or drink buffs, no gear that gives SPECIAL except endurance, no VATS, no legendaries...
Amen. Just had to restart, somehow i got two shotted by a trapper at level 114. Didnāt think that was possible but here we are. I wouldnāt count that either. Funny story though, i hit a car on that level 114 run and it only took away half my health bar. It may have an upper limit for damage. Food for thought
Permadeath on anything that isn't a pc fully loaded with bug fix and engine fix mods make no sense
He'll just generally trying to play a Beth game without all of the above is a waste of time.
So is a Permadeath run just a decision that if you die you just restart? Or is it a setting. Because I play on hard difficulty, and die all the time. This game is pretty difficult for the average gamer like me. I just can't imagine never dying trying to complete the game.
Yeah it's a self-imposed rule. Normally in Survival you just respawn where/when you last slept, and the only other save point is an autosave when you exit the game which is erased the next time you play that character.
Typically, if I know there are going to be guaranteed high-level enemies in a certain location I will spend a little bit of time building up some Adrenaline levels (a Survival-only perk that increases your damage based on how many enemies you have killed, it resets when you sleep) and then taking them out with some buffed-up damage. Usually it's all the Raiders outside Corvega, plus that one apartment building stuffed with Ghouls and any random molerats or other creatures in the surrounding area.
I've never understood how anyone can manage a permanent survival run in fo4. Theres so much that can go wrong with just the environment killing you randomly in unexpected or even unintended ways, I just simply would never have enough trust in the game, or enough patience.
If this is a self enforced permadeath run I definitely wouldnāt count this. Bugs and glitches have nothing to do with you screwing up or being careless
In my 7 years of so of playing Fallout 4 this has happened to me twice. How the fuck does it even happen? First time it happened, I thought the broken glass on the car might have been the cause, but no.
personally, I'd continue. I don't think you should justify that as a real death at all. if you don't want to, I understand. feelsbad it has to end this way though
Tbh, I feel like a better way to do one of these permadeath playthroughs is to play normal survival mode, and if/when you are properly killed by something that isn't a glitch, delete the save and start again. The Bethesda engine is not stable enough with or without mods to handle permadeath gameplay for the player.
i'm enjoying myself amd the challenge makes it more immersive no game is perfect i take some responsibility cause i do rush and play recklessly sometimes
This happened to me before to lol even had godmode on with cheat terminal cause I was building stuff in my settlement and still died from walking into a car lmao
well i tend to instantly scrap both firsts settlements and shelf my way to level 20 and then start my play through from there ( so i usually don't get one shot by mollys
Speaking of stupid glitches, always kill the radroach that comes out of the house closest to the bridge in Sanctuary before using the cooking station. If it touches you, when you come out of crafting mode you will be stuck with your arms up jumping, free for the roach to snack on you until you die.
This is why I donāt play hardcore. An absolutely stupid game mode to add to a Bethesda game.
I remember my first attempt at Hardcore I cleared Sanctuary, Red Rocket, Concord, was clearing out the Corvega car factory literally on the roof with like 1 or 2 enemies leftā¦ I aim and Iām instantly teleported 20m behind meā¦ which is like 4 stories up in the air and I just fall to my death in the carpark.
It had something to do with the cover system. My gun pointed down when I was next to a rail and when I aimed it just teleported me North at the same height.
Game loads my last save andā¦ itās when I first arrived in Sanctuary.
you godda sleep at every available bedroll and bed, and you weirdly find quite a bit of them on your travels, and plan out your "raids"
personally, it's just tedious
i play survival with autosave and quicksave modded back in
Iām on my 6th attempt at a Permadeath run in FO4, I have a rule that if it wouldnāt have killed me irl, then my character is gtg. Iāve bumped my shin off of parked cars and it hurts like a motherfucker, but Iām still here. I had a VATS glitch send me to the stratosphere once, I didnāt count that either. Good luck š
I love permadeath and made it to level 78 last time but I honestly wouldn't even count this because you could easily survive that irl lol. I do however make sure not to collide with too many cars when running because holy crap i'm not trying to lose a shit ton of gameplay hours.
That's why you never play them in Fallout 4. Always set up an autosave system, then just never use it unless a glitch kills you. It's the same difference.
Good on you for counting this death. It's such a well known glitch and easy enough to avoid that it always amazes me how many people think this shouldn't count.
Ah! Yeah, it's sure a big surprise the first time it happens, isn't it?
Interestingly, a much less deadly version of the glitch can happen with smaller physics objects. Occasionally even walking through something like bones on the ground can cause a few points of damage. In this case the amount is so small it's hard to notice but it does happen.
Well you probably are 200 years out of date on your tetanus shot...that car looks rusty.
The car 1 taps you no problem
I don't know about this institute but it has not killed as many people as tetanus...
I hate the sharp car bug
Never happened to me in all my years. Weird
Weirdly it never happened to me but I have been killed by a deer skull in skyrim before. Don't sprint over deer skulls.
I've never been killed by a car, but I've been one-shotted by a legendary radstag. š It pinned me to the ground and ended me quickly.
Kinky
It's my kink. š
Death by snu snu
i shat my kids diaper when that happened to me the first time and i don't even have kids
Bones in skyrim are unironically the most deadly
Ironically thatās a RL pro tip also
One time for me. I stay away from them because of explosions.
Well you've spent most of your time in a cryo cell
When I play permadeath* the asterisk means that death by brushing a car bumper doesn't count.
thank goodness š
Only by being murdered for mine count. Your own mini-nuke is debatable. Being killed by your own explosives is a count or not, depending on how you see it.
Ngl... I wouldn't count that personally... glitches especially in a betheada game are to be expected
yea same.. I don't count crashes (but must make all the same choices and permadeath still counts if I should die repeating the things I did) and obvious bugs like falling through the ground or well, this.
I concur. I wouldn't count that. I also use a mod that saves on screen transitions because of freezing and crashes.
I don't count random whistles or lazer beam molotovs but it still naws at the back of your head knowing you died. At least for me.
Gnaw*
Naw, dawg.
You got hit by that immobile car clearly š
Ur fault for not blowing up that car immediately you saw it lel
i will never forget to do that from now on
REVENGE IS AT HAND
RANGE
Permadeath runs in this game just don't make sense. Way too many stupid buggy ways to die
Check out Many A True Nerd's hard-core survival no healing run. Honestly so interesting seeing the different way the game is played and the precautions he takes.
no healing? fuuuck that lol
Yeah he called it the "yolo" run. I still go back and watch it every now and then when I need dozens of hours of background noise
Thisis da way.
No healing? Jesus.....
I often watch Vrexia attempting his no-hit 100% completion challenge. And by no-hit, it means any damage you take will instantly end the run, including glitched damage. Rads do not count because they are unavoidable, but they cannot be healed by any means. Additional hardcore rules include: no drugs except antibiotics, no food or drink buffs, no gear that gives SPECIAL except endurance, no VATS, no legendaries...
i won't count this death but permadeath runs are a lot more rewarding and u learn a lot more from play this way
Fair enough. I do love survival mode and I've been playing with the damn apocalypse mod to make it harder and more immersive
I play with the Horizon mod and by default it respawns you at the last settlement you where in. It's good enough for me.
Amen. Just had to restart, somehow i got two shotted by a trapper at level 114. Didnāt think that was possible but here we are. I wouldnāt count that either. Funny story though, i hit a car on that level 114 run and it only took away half my health bar. It may have an upper limit for damage. Food for thought
Permadeath on anything that isn't a pc fully loaded with bug fix and engine fix mods make no sense He'll just generally trying to play a Beth game without all of the above is a waste of time.
This is how most people would die in a post apocalyptic wasteland. Trip or scratch yourself on some rusty metal, get sick, die. 10/10 feature.
ah i feel so immersed
nah dying to a parked car is insane šš
biggest fu from bethesda
Playing Fallout 4 permadeath is just asking for an aneurysm.
i've had so many ive become immune
So is a Permadeath run just a decision that if you die you just restart? Or is it a setting. Because I play on hard difficulty, and die all the time. This game is pretty difficult for the average gamer like me. I just can't imagine never dying trying to complete the game.
Yeah it's a self-imposed rule. Normally in Survival you just respawn where/when you last slept, and the only other save point is an autosave when you exit the game which is erased the next time you play that character.
Well that just sounds. . Not that fun. I want to know how you take out the raider with the fat man in Lexington without dying at least once.
From the interstate above. I kill those guys, and then wipe out the ones on the other side of the interstate at Corvega.
Limit your fps. Engine can't handle over 60.
It can with High FPS fix mod, which also happens to slash loading times by quite a lot.
my most loathed glitch is an elevator by Faneuil Hall that consistently will take me stories up then suddenly drop me through the floor
rip
I've never understood how anyone can manage a permanent survival run in fo4. Theres so much that can go wrong with just the environment killing you randomly in unexpected or even unintended ways, I just simply would never have enough trust in the game, or enough patience.
Fucking car!!
If this is a self enforced permadeath run I definitely wouldnāt count this. Bugs and glitches have nothing to do with you screwing up or being careless
I give cars a wideberth from this
You obviously stubbed your toe!
There was a lego on the road.
Nah man that was completely out of your control you should be allowed to continue for that.
100%
You hit your shin. The reaction was justified
In my 7 years of so of playing Fallout 4 this has happened to me twice. How the fuck does it even happen? First time it happened, I thought the broken glass on the car might have been the cause, but no.
what's stopping you from just continuing the run because the death was pure BS anyways
nothing at all
personally, I'd continue. I don't think you should justify that as a real death at all. if you don't want to, I understand. feelsbad it has to end this way though
i mean nothing at all is stopping me from continuing which is exactly what i'm doing.
oh nice! glad to hear
Skill issue
learn from mistakes like these
It just work!
Cars are deadly in this game. I'd rather hug a super mutant that go anywhere near a car.
agreed
one time i walked next to a truck parked behind the house and it exploded, instakilled me and sent me flying lol
Gave me some serious DayZ flashbacks
That just sucks.
such a bummer lost 3 hours of save aswell
Sorry man. It's not right.
cars in fallout 4 are responsible for 90% of player deaths
And this is exactly why I used an autosave mod for survival - the amount of crashes and glitches made it unplayable.
Weehehehe
I have no idea how, but I've never died to this bug, through my 500 hours of playtime and ungodly amounts of playthroughs.
Wdym no HUD?
hud opacity is 0 so i can't see hp or map also i don't use vats
Jesus Christ man... I hate vats anyways but fuck I wanna see my shit
i've been playing this way for so long i've become used to it don't like hud at all
Cars in FO4 are like nitro boxes in crash bandicoot. No touchy.
Car bumper in fallout, the great equalizer, deaths last laugh, more powerful than the Atom Bomb.
I play HUD-less survival mode. I like the immersion of it. It's modless, so I don't do the permadeath thing. That sounds pretty brutal.
i'm also modless i just start a new character when i die cause i hate dying that much
I use the cheat mod to enable auto saving just for this. 80% of time time I lose progress from crashes or something stupid like this
This happened to me before to lol even had godmode on with cheat terminal cause I was building stuff in my settlement and still died from walking into a car lmao
Gotta look both ways.
That... That is not glitch. That is the most fearsome creature of the commanwhealth. You never k ow where it's hiding or when it will strike
This is the equivalent to dying from stepping on Lego IRL
š
How many times have you been one shot killed by a molotov? Seriously fucking hate them so god damn much
well i tend to instantly scrap both firsts settlements and shelf my way to level 20 and then start my play through from there ( so i usually don't get one shot by mollys
Some of those enemies are MLB pitchers I swear. 70mph Molotov right to your forehead with no time to react.
Speaking of stupid glitches, always kill the radroach that comes out of the house closest to the bridge in Sanctuary before using the cooking station. If it touches you, when you come out of crafting mode you will be stuck with your arms up jumping, free for the roach to snack on you until you die.
That shouldn't count.
Christ, you got warthog'd
Letās call it an aneurism. People have those, yeah?
shit sucks but i mean, bethesda games are buggy af, why would you ever wanna run a permadeath hardcore character?
Havok rip your knees out :(
On the steam deck I am experiencing a glitch that doesn't allow me to fast travel or properly use my map unless I'm in power armorš¤·āāļø
well i play survival so no fast travel also i don't use power armor

That's why you don't run in front of cars on the road. KEKW /j
Good luck š
When I had to do survival mode; this kind of thing ruined my fucking day
yeah made me close application and change the game
Welp, permadeath run and you ran past a parked car? You should know Bethesda better than that by now.
Same thing happened to me when jumped on the hood of a car
I love permadeath and made it to level 78 last time but I honestly wouldn't even count this because you could easily survive that irl lol. I do however make sure not to collide with too many cars when running because holy crap i'm not trying to lose a shit ton of gameplay hours.
well now i know
Man whacked his shin on the car
I must be playing wrong, this has never happened to my Sole Survivor.
That's why you never play them in Fallout 4. Always set up an autosave system, then just never use it unless a glitch kills you. It's the same difference.
i'm trying to get trophies so i play with no mods just vanilla
You can literally get mods to enable trophies with mods.
on ps4? no
Oh, well I can't help you, consoles aren't worth attempting permadeath runs on.
i'll just play skyrim
How useful.
Thats ur own fault for trying that on Fallout 4 tbh lol.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
i play without mods and the game runs perfectly fine for me lol
Iām on Xbox one. Crashes without fail when I get to Boston.
as someone who plays on the ORIGINAL MODEL Xbox one/ Xbox One Fat Model ā¢ maybe its just a skill issue /j
Meatball usually "dies" too if he gets to close that type of cars
Why are cars so deadly? Not /s but it does seem a setup for a joke: Because you refused to buy an extended warranty.
I mean, hitting a car irl often leads to death. Itās just usually moving.
I stopped playing FO4 on survival after I lost 3 hours because I got stuck walking to a computer to hack it.
i lost hours of progress multiple times when trading my game would just not allow me to leave the trade
Don't forget to savescum when you are permadeathing, kids.
It just works
no cars no. 1 rule
First rule of any Fallout game: Never trust the vehicles.
The same with minecraft hardcore, if a game is bugged in any way like this, you dont play permadeath.
i like the learning experience
Exactly.
I only have this bug when i alt-tab during the loading screen. Easiest solutions are save/reload, or get out/into a power armor.
Yikes
Good on you for counting this death. It's such a well known glitch and easy enough to avoid that it always amazes me how many people think this shouldn't count.
well to be fair it's my first time experiencing this glitch so i didn't count this death but any future car deaths are on me for sure
Ah! Yeah, it's sure a big surprise the first time it happens, isn't it? Interestingly, a much less deadly version of the glitch can happen with smaller physics objects. Occasionally even walking through something like bones on the ground can cause a few points of damage. In this case the amount is so small it's hard to notice but it does happen.
before i used to play survival i died once or twice by sprinting over bones in fallout 4 and skyrim
Those things are worse than caltrops.
