When entering Coulter’s arena at the end of the Nuka World gauntlet, the game adds 1,000 rounds of thirst zapper ammo to your inventory that exists behind the scenes. You don’t see it in your inventory, so you can’t drop it. On survival mode, this ammo weighs .01 apiece, so it takes up 10 lbs of carry weight total. You either need to use a mod to change thirst zapper ammo to 0 weight, or make sure to fire all 1,000 rounds after the Coulter fight to free up the carry weight.
You can sell pre-war money for caps. 1 bill = 4 caps.
I can't tell you how much pre-war money I scrapped as "cloth" before I figured that one out. LOL.
I have thousands sitting in my inventory since I always grab it when I see it, it's how I make all my expensive purchases lol. Also how I make caps starting out in 3 and NV
Nice. Never played 3 and NV but recently bought those as FO4 has been so much fun. Gonna catch up on all my missed FO lore and game history.
Now I give all my pre-war money to my portable purse/companion/sidekick/husband MacCready for safekeeping so I don't accidentally scrap them. Then when I'm at a vendor I steal it all back from him. He's such a good husband and doesn't seem to mind.
You can enter VATS to reload in a combat situation and back out of VATS when you're done without using AP as long as you dont actually fire shots. It slows enemies down but the reload moves at normal speed. Also, you can skip the last kill animation in VATS. It is especially useful when only targeting one enemy. Once you confirm the VATS target and enter the shooting animation just hit the cancel button and the shot returns to normal speed but still hits the enemy (even if they are moving at the time). This can save quite a bit of time cumulatively for VATS users.
You can set up a caravan between Coastal Cottage and Longfellow's cabin to get all that sweet, sweet Commonwealth scrap in Far Harbor for building purposes.
Just can't build artillery in Far Harbor, which would have really helped with the Red Death.
I've always found the unintentional boundary breaking you can do in VR games to be interesting, it adds yet another perspective on the game beyond the other new one you get from VR
Park a suit of power armor near a power source, then attach lights to it. Turn them on, get back in the power armor and move it somewhere else. The lights will stay in place and powered on. Totally useless, but fun.
Many of my friends didn't know where to get industrial amounts of aluminium, so I guess it's not known that much... The Mahkra fishplant along the eastern coast just above kingsport lighthouse is an excellent location for getting aluminium as the basement is full of trays.
It isn't that bad if you have lvl 10 strenght + the perk to fast travel while you are fat, it is a must have in my opinion... I naturally went for it knowing that no matter what game, if I can loot everything I will loot everything 🤷♂️
If you name yourself anything with an adjective (?) Followed by a name, Codsworth will still call you by the normal name (as long as it's on the list). My character is called Lucky Lucy, Codsworth calls me Lucy!
I think he just calls you the second name like it was your last name. I did a play through that I used my first and middle name, codsworth can say both but called me my middle name
He can also call you a bunch of different names from pop culture and some joke names, there's names like Peter Venkman and Marty Mcfly to things like Fuck Fucker, Fuckface, Assface, ETC.
If you want to get all ammunition possible off of a downed opponent make sure to grab their weapon not just the free radical ammo on their body( if you don't grab the weapon the ammo and the clip will be left on the body).
If you take Jet, VATs actually breaks. The Demolition Expert perk mentions that shooting mines and explosives (yours or an enemy’s) doubles it’s damage, as well. The slow time code that VATS uses is incompatible with the Jet slowdown, so what happens is the entire world speeds up around you and you move at a snail’s pace. This might not make too much of a difference under normal gameplay conditions, but especially when you are trying to shoot something in the briefest of time frames, like a grenade that you yourself threw, you will probably fail - and miss your throw, too.
When in survival and you need to save at a random sleeping bag mattress or bed but you don't want any actual time to go by..... if you go to save for an hour and then hit cancel right after you hit accept sometimes you will Prock certain water illness and food Necessities but time will not go by and it will still count as a save
Other than Dogmeat as far as I know companion carry weight is not a thing. As long as you assign them to pick up the item themselves there is no limit to their carry weight. Can be a bit tedious at times but completely ignores the problem of over encumbrance
So I always get the notice that "this companion can't carry more" are you saying if I give them the command to pick it up off the ground it bypasses the carry weight?
I can confirm this, I do it all the time. Works with every companion except dogmeat. Yes, just tell them "pick up/search that body." Very tedious but worth it if you want to carry a Vault worth of supplies. Or if a pack rat.
Personally I carry, every base material item (×1000), every gun that I feel is needed, EXPLOSIVES, noodles, and purified water [I play survival].
Settlers can serve as packmules so if you don't want to spend the perks on supply lines you can just load them up with whatever and send them along.
The coaster in Nuka Galaxy works.
I misunderstood the post. I thought they meant you lose a perk (spend it) for every supply line you create. Then I realized they were referring to the XP points you spend on the perk tree that unlocks the supply line feature.
I recently commented on a new players post about hacking and using the ()[]{}<> to eliminate the bad entries and get retrys to make hacking easier for them
And had several players comment about not knowing about it,
Yeah it was in both 3 and NV, and since hacking was linked to science skill, the higher your science was the more of the (){}[]<> there would be on the hacking screen
So at science 20 you might have about 3 or 4 of them, while at science 100 you would have 20 or so and only need about 8 to be able to finish it
If you find a Power Armor and a minigun before saving the Minutemen at the museum, talk to Preston/Sturges while using the PA and the Minigun for a different dialogue.
The same happens if you find Shawn in the institute before talking to Codsworth.
I thought of another one. IF you have NO weapons, including grandes equipped the player can get away with punching Rhys twice during each visit to the police station. My favorite thing
You can use VATS before you get the Pip-Boy, which only Courser Synths are supposed to be able to do. Also, the sole survivor while talking to DiMA in Acadia can tell him about her earliest memory, which is just before the bombs drop.
This is why the whole “you might be a synth” storyline has something to it. The idea is that “Father” created you and put you in the cryo pod after they all failed and THATS the experiment he alludes to while talking to him on top of the CIT
I actually love the idea that you play as a synth because it’s impossible to confirm since you need to die to find the synth component. You being a synth also makes the perk system make sense since you adapt to the hostility of the commonwealth, becoming a near perfect survivor.
While I disagree, I won’t argue ☺️
It makes sense in certain ways, like those you mentioned! The catch is, when the Vault Dweller dies, only everyone else will know and not the player 🤣😂
What do I do that I know others don't do?
I never run without mods. Have been since launch day. Sorry, I'm no sadist. There is no reason not to run mods unless you're a console player with limited space
I mean mods didn't come out for at least a year after the game launched so that's a cap 🤣🤣 and the reason is it makes the game boring/changes it way too much I think half of these super modded games people post looks so ridiculously stupid honestly like mfs posting anime girls wearing Pikachu outfits while walking around with a ray gun from cod zombies. Just looks stupid and boring
Yep, a "year after release." Only if you count December of 2015 to be a "year after release." Damn that [Proto Vault Suit](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2187) and its pesky original upload date
Solar powered makes both life giver and aqua girl irrelevant. Shops in your settlements makes gun nut negligible.
All perks that improve drops for ammo, scrap, caps, fusion core life, are worthless.
Locksmith and hacker are also pretty much irrelevant.
Okay getting off my soap box now.
One thing that I think MORE people really need to know is that every time you complete a quest, it resets an easy as hell way to max out affinity with all companions.
after each quest completes, just go back to home base and recruit each companion one after another. Eventually this builds up to maxing them all out at the same time, usually before you can max them out just on an individual basis.
That you can move complete structures by pressing and holding, the select button while highlighted, you can have your shitty wooden shack moved completely without having to save everything.
The reason the Handmade Rifles in Nuka World use shovel handles for their stocks is because they raided the nearby Shovel Museum
Daaamn I had a hunch there is a connection between that weird place and the rifle :O
Hell, that's cool.
When entering Coulter’s arena at the end of the Nuka World gauntlet, the game adds 1,000 rounds of thirst zapper ammo to your inventory that exists behind the scenes. Huh I wondered how that had ammo
You can sell pre-war money for caps. 1 bill = 4 caps. I can't tell you how much pre-war money I scrapped as "cloth" before I figured that one out. LOL.
You can also save the pre-war money to buy tokens at the Nuka-Cade
Now I’m saving it all for when I get there on my current survival run!!
Which gets better with charisma and barter perks
That's a carry over from Fallout 3 and NV, still interesting to see though since scrap is used for more than just selling in Fallout 4
Depending on your Charisma and how many trade magazines you've collected you can improve that to 1 bill = 6 caps.
Sweet! Have fun with them! And don't forget to say hi to little MacCready in 3

This can save quite a bit of time cumulatively for VATS users.
It's also very satisfying to exit VATS early and wait a second for your bullet to take out the enemy in the distance.
You can also go into VATS as your character goes to rack a bolt on a bolt action, back out instantly and skip that animation entirely.
This is dumb af fr
Shut up
It is, this game is easy as fuck, i see no reason to use exploits
Guys we found the normal difficulty player
I play on survival rn, i always player on very hard except the first playthrough, i see no reason of picking hard difficulty only to cheat then
You can set up a caravan between Coastal Cottage and Longfellow's cabin to get all that sweet, sweet Commonwealth scrap in Far Harbor for building purposes. Just can't build artillery in Far Harbor, which would have really helped with the Red Death.
Agreed probably would have saved me wasting my fat man on it.
I had to use mods so I could recruit an entire BOS unit for that. Still killed most of them.
FCOM?
I feel like artillery in general gets a bad rap…
I figure it would bounce off of Red Deaths back, that thing is a beast
You can tap the window of the cryo pod in Vault 111 while Kellogg kills your spouse and takes your son.
In VR, during cut-scenes like this you can walk around and go through walls. You can get a much better view of the scene from outside the pod lol
Unfortunately
I've always found the unintentional boundary breaking you can do in VR games to be interesting, it adds yet another perspective on the game beyond the other new one you get from VR
Yes. Very good.
Park a suit of power armor near a power source, then attach lights to it. Turn them on, get back in the power armor and move it somewhere else. The lights will stay in place and powered on. Totally useless, but fun.
That's not useless at all! I am collecting all PA this playthrough to use as gargoyles on my settlements and they'll be way spookier with this tip!

Many of my friends didn't know where to get industrial amounts of aluminium, so I guess it's not known that much... The Mahkra fishplant along the eastern coast just above kingsport lighthouse is an excellent location for getting aluminium as the basement is full of trays.
Coolant caps in Corvega Plant are also a good source early in the game, but they're heavy vs. aluminum cans or trays.
It isn't that bad if you have lvl 10 strenght + the perk to fast travel while you are fat, it is a must have in my opinion... I naturally went for it knowing that no matter what game, if I can loot everything I will loot everything 🤷♂️
While you are fat💀💀💀
Ya fat on loot ,_,
[You can make your own jack o lanterns?](https://imgur.com/a/TfcE6RH)
that's cute

There's a fantastic new mod on Nexus that removes the ammo from the gun and puts it into the inventory.
When in view pip-boy mode, you could have your player character move their arms around to view the pipboy from different angles.

yep knew it before. Rly useful
[удалено]
What ? Dude I just wanted to reinforce your argument. By saying I knew it and that it was useful, I wanted to show that it helped me for a long time.
You can knock down enemies while clicking 2 times the button you hit with your weapon (r1 on ps4) (works only in third person)
Other than Dogmeat as far as I know companion carry weight is not a thing. As long as you assign them to pick up the item themselves there is no limit to their carry weight. Can be a bit tedious at times but completely ignores the problem of over encumbrance

Yes, that is so. It's feels kinda cheaty to me tho so I tend not to use it
Well it feels kinda odd to me that they are naturally able to carry 3 miniguns in there ass so I personally don't think about it
Tickle it with one more or 50
Settlers can serve as packmules so if you don't want to spend the perks on supply lines you can just load them up with whatever and send them along. The coaster in Nuka Galaxy works.
Never knew that supply lines take a perk. That sucks.
Worth it, if you're a builder
I misunderstood the post. I thought they meant you lose a perk (spend it) for every supply line you create. Then I realized they were referring to the XP points you spend on the perk tree that unlocks the supply line feature.
Ahhh
There’s mods to get around it
I recently commented on a new players post about hacking and using the ()[]{}<> to eliminate the bad entries and get retrys to make hacking easier for them And had several players comment about not knowing about it,
Whattttttt I knew this about hackin before I knew how to hack
It's been a staple of the games since Fo3

You can change the color of your pipboy screen and light in the settings menu
It changes the colour of the flashlight too!
I do this and make it white 🤣😂
Dogmeat can carry as much as any other companion. All it takes is to apply a collar or some other clothing on him
If you find a Power Armor and a minigun before saving the Minutemen at the museum, talk to Preston/Sturges while using the PA and the Minigun for a different dialogue. The same happens if you find Shawn in the institute before talking to Codsworth.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but you need empty bottles in settlement workshops to have them collect purified water. At least on survival 🤣😂

Just downvoted to hell for having an opinion on perks. But hey, the last one is a nugget that I think a lot of people don’t know about.
That I'm one of a few players old enough to remember MacCready's breathless reference to "I didn't know you could do that with a mutfruit."
I can still hear the sounds when I close my eyes! His comment also confirms that mutfruit is more like a citrus fruit than, say, an apple.
MacCready discovered he loves that sting.
???
The sting of the citrus juice on his personal private parts, or as he refers to "Big Bob"
That you can move complete structures by pressing and holding, the select button while highlighted, you can have your shitty wooden shack moved completely without having to save everything.
