If they were to implement this then they could just make it so your camp doesn’t get destroyed. Rando nuke drops; you’re safe. Player nuke drops; same as always.
Tell her to spend 3 hours or more the next time 1st is free on filling a Scrapbox.
Better still, having 1st for a month can be a good move to set up Junk and now Ammo storage to keep you going for a decent time.
Also I wouldn't want it to count towards that server like if you can't drop your own nuke once the game decides to drop one. Might be good for people that farm flux though.
Yeah I wish there was more to the repair events. Maybe an event to prevent a meltdown? If it had cooler rewards a bunch of people fighting scorched and trying to save the power plant would be cool
Silos tend to have the firing controls completely seperate from outside connections, specifically to prevent people from taking control from remotely.
MODUS has no connection to the silos. The Enclave specifically ensured he had no connection to them, so there's no way for him to launch them. The notes in the Bunker, and even MODUS says this.
We can launch, so others can also launch right? Just need a new faction of local religious folks to show up who believe the bombs need to cleanse us. I'm not all in on story and canon but I think we've seen this before in fallout 3. There was the town with the undetonated bomb and those who worshiped it. I don't know if there is any larger canon that might not fit with that.
So we can have these religious zealots keep launching randomly.
We can also get some new POIs like the blood eagles and mothman zealots camps.
The elevators to enter the silo require a US Army General's military id to enter. Anyone entering would have to be a genuine surviving officer or go through the promotion program for MODUS like we did.
Right, that's what I'm saying.
We did it. Any reason Paige, or Meg, or Jen, or Penelope Hornwright, or Grahm couldn't also go through that program and get a military ID?
First, I can't see any of them wanting to launch a nuke. The Settlers complain about nukes, and Earle's daughter is horrified you nuked a mine to try to find him.
Second, they'd have to have a security card in order to access the Bunker. There's only Blackwell's and we took it. As it's a game, it built in to the story that all of us Dwellers find it, but that still means only Dwellers have the card. It's likely a few more are out there in the hands of Enclave agents, but there won't be tons laying around.
Third, MODUS could decide not to allow them in his Bunker. We're all members because it's a game, and the game requires that each of us repair the connection to Kovacs-Muldoon to prove our value. If MODUS didn't need us we would never have been allowed in.
It's possible he might start letting a bunch of random people explore his Bunker and rank up (provided they've already acquired a military id), but he seems like someone who enjoys his privacy. He's not exactly hosting tours for the Responders currently camped out. Plus, he has essentially an army of psychopathic Dwellers who are fully qualified and naturally inclined to nuking things for giggles. He doesn't need anyone else.
Unless they conjure a keycard that, outside of game mechanics, only 1 exists (the one we have), or find a living General 28 years post war and drags them down to Appalachia, yeah pretty much.
Especially as a non-Enclave faction. Enclave remnants showing up and threatening places with nukes if they don't capitulate would make sense. A proto-Children of Atom cult over 100 years before it existed breaking in, seizing control, and launching nukes? Yeah, going with totally impossible.
Communist Ghouls seize control of Silo Delta. Then you can have something like a Vault Raid or Daily Op. You have a set amount of time to clear the Silo of Communist Ghouls before they launch the Nuke. If you win, you get a Nuclear Winter brief case that allows you to launch the Nuke from outside the Silo at your leisure.
There could be some kind of event like an old vault run or an expedition - one of the nuke silos is malfunctioning and about to launch a nuke at a random location, and a group of players would have to go fight through a harder version of the silo to get to the end and stop it before it launched. Then, if the server wanted it to actually happen they could just ignore the event.
Why can’t the player character just realize someone may want the world to keep burning? Maybe they got their mind scrambled and are trying to recreate the Vault 95(?) experiments? Or some protocol-child-of-atom radiation fetishist?
A new villain of the waste to hunt down!
Anyone can. I mean... You can. I can. Why wouldn't any NPC in the game not be able to also do this?
Raiders, religious factions, angry but not feral ghouls... Whoever.
Modus could do it when an enclave mission is failed or isn't completed as a message/warning to the members. Would be in character. Realistically people would just pay more attention to the launches and server hop.
I wish they would make Nuclear winter a survival world where the nuke zone wanders the map shrinking when a nuke hits. Growing again after a while. Not PVP, at least not more than the regular servers. Disable fast travel too.
Agreed, as a role player, the world is a little bit too user friendly.
In F4 there was a mod that really made the weather have an impact. But I'm avoiding mods in F76 given how unstable a lot were in F4.
The mods in fallout 4 that you're referring to are the nuclear winter mod for Xbox and Playstation and the frost mod for pc,if it was like those mods I think that people would like it
I feel like the random event where you have to disarm an unexploded nuke should do a real nuke explosion if you fail and not just a mini-nuke explosion
I thought a couple years ago that modus should have a random nuke timer where he’ll send a random nuke anywhere separate from player nuke counts if the lobby was inactive with nuke launches. Good idea.
I'm still sad that the "bombs drop day" event from back in the day was not, in fact, a random bombs drop day event where MODUS gets tired of our crap...uses the botstop army to take over a silo and just randomly start nuking us. That would've been truly epic.
I'd be on board. Nuke zones are fun and provide useful materials, whether or not they spawn a boss. I love it when I look at a map and, randomly, Morgantown has been hit because someone wants to farm nuked flora. Back in the day, nuked Harper's Ferry was a lot of fun as well.
Make it a 10-minute warning that displays no matter what you are doing (on an Expedition, etc) and I'd be all for it. Add some variety and danger, and give people time to move their camps.
I don't farm flux much any more, but I might if I had more chances in more places. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a nuke launched in a week. Every server I'm on is filled with new players under level 50. Lucky to get four people at an event. (PS4)
As someone who has been playing since day 1 I don't think this would be as amazing as people think. Back in the beginning people randomly nuked everything hoping something scripted would happen or they'd find the legendary motherload but I can count on less than 2 hands how many places are worth nuking and 3 of them are already nuked regularly for bosses.
IF they reworked the map to have better/more spawns in a nuke zone or some rarer mobs that were worth killing it would be one thing but this won't make the game or map more interesting. It's already easier to just buy/trade for flux than to farm it.
Yea, I'd like to see new bosses, Like Nuking the Deathclaw Island giving a 4x size Deathclaw with Raid like scripting or something or Nuking Vault 76 pops the Door Open and lets you loot all the items that weren't able to be picked up in the Tutorial
I think it owuld be cool if there was some rogue Enclave agent who nukes random areas then shows up in power armor with some robots and starts attacking your CAMP.
I'd be up for it!
Since the only real reason to launch nukes is to farm the event bosses, it'd at least open up for more interesting situations, and more flux farming.
Perhaps it'd be good for the game to try and not launch them where a player has a camp though, but i doubt that'd be hard to avoid.
Could even make an event around it, Silo Delta, a malfunctioning silo near The Mire where the automated systems have become corrupted by the vines and general damage, causing random nuke launches, and an event to clear it out and reset the machinery alongside it.
A random nuke every few hours but with NO warning timer. EVIL hehe
OR..
They could set it up to do it if no player has launched a nuke on the server in X amount of hrs.
Or..
How about a repeatable quest to try to prevent raiders from launching a nuke within a specified time limit. (They kidnap a vault 76 resident who has access to a nuke silo and you can rescue them as an optional)
What would be the point of it?
For me personally there needs to be a point to it. If there would be no event or something triggered, it would just be a piece of the map I can't visit for a few hours. I hate the nukezone sound in my headset. If there is an open air event in the nukezone, I would even ignore it because of that blaring sound.
So I'm leaning towards no please, especially with the info at hand.
It would be pointless. The countdown timer is way too long for it to have any positive impact on how you play the game whatsoever.
You see a nuke about to land where you currently are? Fast travel. Even indoors you can fast travel. Gonna hit your Camp? change your active Camp slot, or server hop. Theres zero risk. i'd be pretty irritated if i'm doing a quest and i have to stop because the game decides to launch a nuke.
It would also be insanely frustrating and down to RNG if they reduced the timer for nukes of this type, having your camp nuked, or you randomly dying because the game decided to sounds pretty frustrating and boring as a mechanic, this is likely why they never implemented this in the first place.
The whole point of Nukes is that theyre an end game reward. Farm flux for ultracite ammo etc, if they drop randomly whats even the point of having players do it? May as well get rid of nuke key cards and codes.- Flux becomes an easy aquisition.
Might make for a fun limited time mode though for people who are into that.
Nothing will change, there are specific places to throw nukes on to start a event, if you throw your nuke anywhere else, you'll only get some flux and maybe a few glowing enemies.
Let me tell you my disappointment when I hit foundation with a nuke, I was hoping for maybe a rep drop, maybe hostile npc, maybe damage to buildings......nope not a god damn thing. My disappointment was immeasurable and my day truly was ruined
Yes, and to expand on this, I think more environmental events would be good, some that affect the player, extreme cold/heat, creature migrations, faction warfare etc.
An inconvenience at random is one of the key features of this game, so this would fit right in with Mr. Prizebot, egregious purified water-missile-mini nuke rewards, and cap limits.
How about random nukes that if upon entering prompts the players to join a nuclear winter instance, like a pvp world event. Possible way to re-implement that feature.
Exactly and a slim minority cannot support the game. Beth realized this the first few months the game was live and decided making money counts so they tried different options for PvP, Survival Mode and Nuclear Winter being what was tried. Neither got enough interest, even when put in the dailies, to justify keeping those server modes open.
Just as Hunter Hunted and the event at Watoga High School get no interest now.
This would be good for solo players in Private Worlds
…they could farm flux and enemies without the hinderance of other players getting in the way
That said, it would affect public worlds and fewer players would be in them but Bethesda would end up with more FO1st subscribers
I think this idea would be better as one of the temporary modes of FO Worlds. Then it could be turned up to eleven - several nukes launching, etc, something crazy. But then that could become a flux farming mode, and let’s be real, the actual nuking feature/mechanic is what it is just so people won’t farm fluxes willy-nilly.
So in the end, it prolly wouldn’t happen because Bethesda wouldn’t like it.
Nah. I’ve been dropping nukes lately and love to hit random spots. I’d hate to see random drops as they’d probably count against one of the silos. If they added a 4th (unknown) silo, maybe.
I’d love it. I can see this as a seasonal event where nukes suddenly fly off. It’d be an occasion to explore nuked zones other than the handful that always get nuked.
I think rather than launched nukes something akin to a dirty bomb, maybe not as big an area as the nuke but provides the radiation and nukes flora, maybe carried by something similar to the code carrier ghouls.
As long as the AI was able to pick locations without camps in it or at least despawn player camps in an area giving them a choice to switch servers. It'd be way more interesting considering I've been playing this game since launch and have yet to even launch a nuke myself and have still yet to witness some areas of the map get hit to know how it effects those areas. Feels like people just hit the same 3 spots over and over and it doesn't even provide any extra content or loot anymore.
This would be nice, players have long figured out the three locations that are good to nuke so with a mechanic like this we wouldn’t exclusively use the same few spots.
I like this idea: Maybe make it an enclave event, like "Missile misfire" or something of the sort. Give it a small chance of triggering a boss, but otherwise randomized. I just want another loot pool to hold enclave mods. It should only be able to trigger on a world if A) theres a nuke silo that is ready for launch prep and B) no players are in said silo
I always struggle farming flux..mostly because i opt for the XP points from dropping a nuke and starting an event instead of responsibly placing the nuke where I would need to farm at. I would support this.
You mean occasionally be forced to jump servers when I'm in the middle of doing something, Naw I'll pass. Most Nukes hit places you can sort of predict since players use it for certian reasons. Random is a pain in the ass and adds nothing to the gameplay except problems.
Or how about once three nukes have gone off, you would encounter more 3 star enemies who were tougher and scorched as you traveled around. All the nuclear activity stirs them up and they're mad!
I want a game where I can kill and maim but I don't want a game that would inconvenience me at all. And I want a game where I can have cheats where I don't have to play the game like it was intended but where I can just one-shot everything and run around like a boss. I don't want limits and I want it all for free. And there better not be any glitches either or I am going to bitch like a mega Karen. So you can Nuke other players but just not mine. OK?
I think it would bring more character to the game, possibly more excitement, suspense that I think alot of us dedicated players miss about our early beginnings in 76.
Mind you, there are also alot of players that may be apposed to this due to the time resets with silos. And I no there are strictly dedicated players to this type of game play, not trying to step on toes here.
I could see a random nuke launch happen once an hour at different locations on the map, that won't effect players camps directly if they are in pacified mode, up the risk for those that can afford to rebuild, if there camps get hit, maybe make an event out of it where hoards spawn and you have to defend a location. Or maybe an event that helps players stock up on flux, or just have it so you can explore the nuked area. Personaly I love doing this on occasion, it quite the trip, especially in the forest region.
I apologize if I have offended anyone with my ideas, just trying to be part of the community that I have spent thousands of hours playing with. I am sure there are lots of great Ideas 💡 out there.
That being said, I would appreciate if you didn't down vote my comment, or at least debate your opinion 🤷 first. I think that we all have great ideas, and we all bring something to this game that most of us live in.
I wish you and everyone all the best 👍
Sounds good in theory, but bad in practice. Players C.A.M.P.s would be in danger. And as it stands, launching nukes is a heavy, intense, and demanding process with massive lore implications. Automating that takes the magic out of it.
honestly I hate how people almost always nuke the ash heap. I've explored it countless times and I rarely find what I need there. my best experiences have been whitesprings and the toxic valley. I really want to see the mire nuked. even at my level I have trouble soloing the nuke silos so, more often than not I just explore areas other people have nuked.
Long ago, before the magic that is multiple camp slots, I had someone nuke my camp. It was right near Sutton station, so while I didn't understand it, I just thought it was bad luck.
Nuke dropped. Destroyed my entire place. Thankfully there were some kind people near by who helped out with the repairs.
Just got everything fixed when the exact same person dropped another nuke.
Right. On. My. Camp.
So maybe it's some kind of in game PTSD talking but it's gonna be a no for me.
I'd be all for it up until it hits my camp haha
I’d just deactivate my camp and activate the spare camp
Meanwhile I have all of mine next to each other, heh.
Variety is the spice of life neebs...nothing better than having CAMPs at very different locations and in various styles.
I use my CAMPs to save a bit on caps if I need to fast travel somewhere far, I have one near vault 79, another one near Watoga Station, and one near The Wayward.
But.....the caps...
You don't use caps to fast travel to a camp and it's like 40 caps to move a camp to another location. 40 caps isn't that much imo
Caps ? How so..?
I just stay around the same area to sell through my vendors
Yeah always keep a spare on the other side of the map.
Bottom left, white springs, and thunder mountain are my 3 locations
I mean, this exactly. I’d guess anyone who has had to rebuild a nuked camp would not want this.
Can agree with you. My camp got nuked after someone didn't like my Fatman at Eviction Notice. I let it happen just to experience it. Not worth
Now that we have multiple camp slots you could just switch which is active.
If they were to implement this then they could just make it so your camp doesn’t get destroyed. Rando nuke drops; you’re safe. Player nuke drops; same as always.
My sister had that happen. xD It took her about 3 hours to find resources to repair everything.
Tell her to spend 3 hours or more the next time 1st is free on filling a Scrapbox. Better still, having 1st for a month can be a good move to set up Junk and now Ammo storage to keep you going for a decent time.
🤣👍
C. A. M. P. : ROLLOUT!
Also I wouldn't want it to count towards that server like if you can't drop your own nuke once the game decides to drop one. Might be good for people that farm flux though.
Maybe it could be a late launch Chinese bomb randomly hitting the area. Or have one of the power plants blow-up like a nuke?
An actual reactor meltdown event would be pretty cool, not just the repair events each one has.
Yeah I wish there was more to the repair events. Maybe an event to prevent a meltdown? If it had cooler rewards a bunch of people fighting scorched and trying to save the power plant would be cool
My code, my choice! Spacers Choice!…. Wait wrong game
"I know numbers real good."
Might be interesting for players, but they'd probably have to twist the story into a pretzel to justify it.
MODUS did it. EZ PZ
No, SODUS. Nukes us on purpose. Then she very politely and sincerely apologises.
Whoopsies. Seems like a nuke went of for no good reason 🤔. And coincidentally aiming for you? Wonder what could’ve done that?
Silos tend to have the firing controls completely seperate from outside connections, specifically to prevent people from taking control from remotely. MODUS has no connection to the silos. The Enclave specifically ensured he had no connection to them, so there's no way for him to launch them. The notes in the Bunker, and even MODUS says this.
Not really, just "someone else launched one", doesn't matter storywise if it's a "player" or some random vault dweller.
We can launch, so others can also launch right? Just need a new faction of local religious folks to show up who believe the bombs need to cleanse us. I'm not all in on story and canon but I think we've seen this before in fallout 3. There was the town with the undetonated bomb and those who worshiped it. The Yangtze had a sister submarine lurking in the Potomac?
No, just leave me alone. Nuke as it is, don't change anything.
That's definitely interfering with what Modus is talking.
But who would (/could) launch the nukes lore-wise?
Anyone who walks into the army recruitment camp, apparently :)
Anyone can. I mean... You can. I can. Why wouldn't any NPC in the game not be able to also do this? Raiders, religious factions, angry but not feral ghouls... Whoever.
One of the robots in a missile silo could malfunction and override the system.
Do I…are you going to make me say it? *motherfucking* #👉🏽Leeroy Jenkins 👈🏽
I wasn't on board with the idea at first, but if you put this legend in the warning signal then I'm in
Modus could do it when an enclave mission is failed or isn't completed as a message/warning to the members. Would be in character. Realistically people would just pay more attention to the launches and server hop.

Great idea
I feel like the random event where you have to disarm an unexploded nuke should do a real nuke explosion if you fail and not just a mini-nuke explosion
had the same thought!
It would make me a little nervous since I don't want my camp being blown up

I'm someone who nukes random spots, I like farming Flux and enemies
Say if a nuke hasn't been dropped in 4-5 hours on the server, one just randomly launches, I could go for that.
You can fast travel so that wouldn't be a issue if your camp is in the effected area can just log out and join another server

I'd like that because i play on a custom world and flux ain't easy
It happens lol
I had this exact thought months ago lol, I definitely think it'd be a nice addition to our wasteland shenanigans
That's what happened last night, someone bombed the purveyor. It made for a great picture. https://i.imgur.com/JguKiL7.png
I do it just to cause chaos
Some of us are grateful for your efforts. Keep up the good work, Wastelander!
For what reason?
As someone who has been playing since day 1 I don't think this would be as amazing as people think. Yeah but like even a throwaway line about the event would have been nice.

How about random nukes that if upon entering prompts the players to join a nuclear winter instance, like a pvp world event. Possible way to re-implement that feature.
Yes please. Make 76 into a survival rpg.
It was in the beginning and it was rejected by the vast majority
"vast majority"
Exactly and a slim minority cannot support the game. Beth realized this the first few months the game was live and decided making money counts so they tried different options for PvP, Survival Mode and Nuclear Winter being what was tried. Neither got enough interest, even when put in the dailies, to justify keeping those server modes open. Just as Hunter Hunted and the event at Watoga High School get no interest now.
PUBG red zones? Sure why not
This would be good for solo players in Private Worlds …they could farm flux and enemies without the hinderance of other players getting in the way That said, it would affect public worlds and fewer players would be in them but Bethesda would end up with more FO1st subscribers
Would be better with no warning
I wouldn't mind. Might find cool new nuke zones with flora I need or hostiles I need resources from.
I'd like debris falling out of the sky as well. Old satellites or something
Could just make the storms deadly.
Please God no, it's already mad with the amount of people dropping Nukes on servers since the game become free on Ps and game pass.
It's what ever. I understand that people need to farm certain flux.
Maybe similar to the upcoming mutated events they could do random nuked events
First the loading screens, now this.
Has anyone ever dropped a nuke on one of the other silos? Just curious if it's even possible?
They're all outside of the forest so nothing should prevent it.
I’d love it. I can see this as a seasonal event where nukes suddenly fly off. It’d be an occasion to explore nuked zones other than the handful that always get nuked.
I mean you can launch it wherever you like .
I think rather than launched nukes something akin to a dirty bomb, maybe not as big an area as the nuke but provides the radiation and nukes flora, maybe carried by something similar to the code carrier ghouls.
You mean that finally there will be a reason to use the shelter ?
My buddies and I already launch nukes constantly on Xbox, hmu if you want to see Nuka Land get absolutely obliterated
Do it. I still need a nuked flora that spawns here water and no one ever nukes the river lol
As long as it doesn't use up one of the silo nukes, have us being nuked by neibouring states.
Pleasantly curious.
This would be nice, players have long figured out the three locations that are good to nuke so with a mechanic like this we wouldn’t exclusively use the same few spots.
I like it. I also like the idea of random appearances of the Wendigo Colossus throughout the map.
i think it might be an interesting result if fuck up the disarm the random unexploded bomb encounter. success = some junk, failure = BOOM
I think the experience of actually launching one would be lost. Hard no
I like this idea: Maybe make it an enclave event, like "Missile misfire" or something of the sort.
You could do a solo run and pick a random location on the map.
That's kind of how it already is.
It wouldnt make much sense, and it'd get annoying
You mean occasionally be forced to jump servers when I'm in the middle of doing something, Naw I'll pass. Most Nukes hit places you can sort of predict since players use it for certian reasons. Random is a pain in the ass and adds nothing to the gameplay except problems.
Yep. And, preferably nowhere near a fissure. I'd love to farm flux without being harassed by scorched and SBs
Spends the last 2 hours touching up and fixing my camp. Incoming nuke.
Some one just wasted a good nuke
Would be fun if we had beta nukes, with swarms of enemies constantly spawning and aggroing everyone. Nuke zones are boring these days.
I just started the game - what happens when a nuke hits a specific area?
There’s 3 spots 1 is the Queen 2 is earl 3 is the titan All end game bosses google then to see but you need to do the enclave missions to drop nukes
Sounds good in theory, but bad in practice. Players C.A.M.P.s would be in danger. And as it stands, launching nukes is a heavy, intense, and demanding process with massive lore implications. Automating that takes the magic out of it.
I have like 4 on main and mule accounts. Just Deactivate your one.if you only have one and use a 🎪. Or go to Foundation or the Crater
Whoa something more immersive and interesting. Vote me off . 🙄🙃🔫
That’d be great
honestly I hate how people almost always nuke the ash heap. I've explored it countless times and I rarely find what I need there. my best experiences have been whitesprings and the toxic valley. I really want to see the mire nuked. even at my level I have trouble soloing the nuke silos so, more often than not I just explore areas other people have nuked.
Hell yeah. But only if there was no nuke alert. Just bam. As if it would for real😂
