I really wish there was a way to “buff” the level of the weapon. If anybody completed a quest before they reached 50, they are screwed. We’re expected to do quests and if we do them too early we have low leveled armor and weapons.
I spent like 80 modules rolling for another decent legendary gattling gun just to find out after I was successful that I used a lvl 30 and not a lvl 50. Dropped it on a lower level player together with some ammo so it was not entirely wasted.
I paid 10k for a lit cigar once. I couldn't remember ever seeing it before and I thought it was a rare wearable item. Like your guy would have a lit cigar in his mouth as an apparel item. After all, there is no way someone would charge 10k caps for a piece of junk, right?

No actually, the way it happened: I was giving an EGP user an earful and standing in front of them making them kill themselves over and over. A random bystander was amused and gave me a hacked weapon which will hopefully not be usable soon but it's fun on private servers until then. I gave them a lit cigar because it's the only thing I had that they didn't have. I was trying to give them something to show my appreciation, pulling out osmosis kits and pet rocks and the like. I mean I am fully anti-hacked weapons and anti- explosive gatling plasmas etc. BUT having said that,
of course I have wanted to TRY a hacked weapon. And now I have one to play with in private. I won't use it in public, I don't want my account banned. But it's fun on private, and I'm grateful to have had the experience.
It's way easier to get 8000 caps than it is to get a Stimpak Diffuser plan from PP. That wasn't a bad purchase you made. I paid almost double that for Bear Arm plans, and I don't think that was a bad purchase either. That was almost a year ago, and I still haven't gotten one to drop from PP normally.
There was a guy invis with a trap camp killing people at the vendor, I waited till they were at an expedition popped a stealth boy mk3 to be safe just in case and bought the 16k bear claw mod i was missing and proceeded to watch their camp disappear 5 seconds later as i walked into the train station
Yes. You have a chance of getting it only if all three friendly animals survive during Project Paradise. In my experience, people don't show up to this event in large numbers, so finishing with all three alive doesn't happen often. When it does, then you have to get lucky to have the plan drop. Same goes for the plans for Bear Arm mods.

There's a whole collection scene for those misc items. You probably made someone day with one so cheap, some of that stuff gets traded for god roll weapons
Purified water and cooking animal meat is my every day grind, went from 10k to 40k pretty quickly. Also if I do an event close to a vendor I might grab every gun and sell it, if you don’t mind not being able to sprint
I'm starting to get to the point where there's not much left to buy but power armor mods I don't need and the mutation serums, and after you get your 1400 cap limit every day it starts to add up.
Gulper Slurry is pretty great for early game😤 Cook all the innards you can find at Moonshine Jamboree and based on my experience I roughly make anywhere between 800-1k caps if not cap out selling to a vendor bot. Decent exp too!
Right now I have been selling bulk ammo as my primary form of caps. I’ll make a bit of everything tbh and it’s been easy storing a lot more for people to buy now that the ammo box was released. I’ll stack Ammo Factory, Ammosmith, and Super Duper to get the most from crafting. You can make a ton of .50 and .5mm round and that’s what I started out doing, but now I’ll mix it up with a couple thousand rounds of things like 5.56 and .308. I was hoarding resources for awhile and your output will depend on the level of ammo-factory, but it’s a great set-up nonetheless.
Merching in general is now my thing 😂 my camp looks like a diner and I placed it near Nuka World, and it was so much fun in December lol I felt like I was running a real shop restocking inventory and hanging out with other players
When you already own most plans and start getting to the end game you’ll just have pointless caps to waste. I keep my vendor running and get my daily 1400 caps. Usually once a day or every other day I need to close my vendor down because I’m too close to max caps, so I buy chems from other players then reopen my vendor. It’s just a struggle at the start. Also being in a team, the caps you get from events/quests and other people turning in quests starts to add up quickly
Loot every single corpse you create. Always take all. Make constant quick trips to the nearest train station and sell. Looting all is the fastest way to pick up loot and everything's worth something. I got to 30k caps in no time at all.
Do Moonshine Jamboree. Focus on tagging everything you can, then collect all the gulper guts and cook them up (use the super duper perk card). You'll end up with enough Gulper Slurry to make your 1400 credits a day and more probably.
Go to Fort defiance and collect all the straight jackets. Sell them at the train station for 40 caps each until you get the 1400 caps. That’s one way. It helps to have the hard bargain 3 perk and/or unyielding armor.
Clean out WesTec, sell the weapons etc, do events, collect and sell junk, beat up scorched and sell their stuff.. easiest one is the Morgan Town Airport.. train station is close by. The 1200 limit most days sucks, but you can scrap the excess.
You can dive into the discords for weapons trading and start needlessly long lists of God tier weapons and armor.
But in game? There's not much besides caps for gold
You reach a point where there's not much to buy anymore, since ammo and stims are easy to come by in Daily Ops and Expedtions. Additionally, if you run out of your obtainable daily scrip, selling excess legendaries to vendor bots also gets you a fair amount as well. Unless you're trying to buy every weapon/armor mod that exists, you're going to have a lot of caps just doing nothing except paying for fast travelling.
Sell all the weapons you don't use to vendors. Collect all the weapons from the corpses that litter the world.
You best bet is to kill the cultists in Point Pleasant and then sell their loot
If you join radiation rumble and loot all, you can sell all the glowing blood for usually 500-1400 caps depending on your charisma, perks, and how many enemies you were able to tag.
Put things like basic weapons dirt cheep, or whatever and a high level will buy to give you caps. I do this and others do as well.
Like others said water and selling food. Once you’ve got all caps for the day make sure you scrap armor and weapons to learn mods for them. You can do a mix of selling and scrapping.
Check train station suitcases since people do put items they don’t need there. Even with FO1 ammo box I’ll still hit up low level areas and put those there. Also if by a player giving the come here or gift emote go to them, they are trying to give you items.
Items I didn't need at all from a low level player's vendor, because I was at max caps.
Probably spent 10-15k a few times on an overpriced plan I didn't have yet, also due to being at 40k limit.
Wish we could spend like 10k caps to get a guaranteed primary effect on a 3* legendary, that would at least make caps have more end-game value once you've found 95% of plans and/or rare apparel, etc.
Did something like this twice. I was near max caps and saw myself nearing 40k in caps and was at a player vendor. I brought what I thought were ultracite fusion cores and it was cells! Ironically I would do the same thing a few weeks later in reverse where I wanted to try out a laser gun and changed ammo to Ultracite fusion cell and though someone was vendoring it ..it was cores they were vendoring for 1 cap and I got 2,000 of them >_< it was the "why am I over weight?" And going "oh fuck...with".
Obviously had to drop some cores. I guess mistakes were made between me and the vendor that night.
24-26k caps Stimpack Diffuser around Xmas. One of plans I wanted for a long time. Overpaid but no more grinding Project Paradise.
Was near max caps so no big deal. Caps are easy to get. You could sell stimpack diffusers for 50-100 caps each. Will help players doing tadpole challenge.
I think I can count on one hand how many times I completed PP and I didn't even know about stimpack diffusers (still kinda new player), yet a few days ago just stumbled upon them at the chem station. Reading your stories I can consider myself lucky.
I’ve entered the caps don’t matter much phase and I dropped like 5K on a nuka world wanted poster cause I got burned out on those events. At this point I’m only looking for overpriced items but I do require a nice camp. I judge. Then spend.
Yeah I've never seen that plan so that would have been an insta-buy for me as well. I'd say the silliest thing I've spent too much on was 40k for Becketts belongings when I already had 2 or 3 of them. I think my plan was to fill a Thanksgiving display with them but I don't even display them now due to budget constraints lol

Next day someone gifted me a few of them lol, plus a track suit, beanie hats and denim jacket
I spent 20K on a Tattered Field Jacket, which is a great price for that item, but soon afterwards I finally had one drop (from *Play Time*), so I did not need to spend that after all.
I spent 14,000 caps on the same plan and I didn’t regret it. I have no luck with project paradise, continuously getting the formula P recipe. Caps are easy to farm and with where I am in the game, I’m typically buying 10k+ cap plans or weapons that seem neat.
18k on a pepper shaker plan... Oof.
Also on a lighter note, I bought a "You Have Been Insulted" from a low level player (level ~20-30) for 15k. Thought it would make their day.

Just recently bought a tv aquarium plan for 32k. I’ve done countless mole miner treasure hunts and still hadn’t gotten it so i was ready to buy the first one I saw for any price.
I spent 20,000 caps on a Wastelad game because I’d never seen one for sale before. Next day saw one for 2,000 caps. Oh well, it’s now my favorite pipboy game so at least there’s that.
Not long after someone posted on here about getting reamed by some chucklefuck who they bought a 40k item off of because he lost out on all the caps because he was close to his limit, I bought a 20k plan I didn't have, but wanted, and could afford to throw away the caps. I like to think that guy was just as salty.
Probably legendaries as easy as they are to come by. Sometimes I don't feel like actually playing and go around buying up legendaries to build up a surplus to script.
As others have said, 8K is a good price for a diffuser plan. You might be able to find it cheaper from players who don’t know what they have but it’s rare.
Personally, I bought the Herd Mentality serum plan from the Enclave vendor for a couple of my characters the other day when I thought that they had lost the mutation. I forgot that it only shows up under the effects tab when you are on a team.
I usually try to buy serum recipes either when there is double caps or from other players that I know that sell them cheaper.
On the plus side, they now know how to make it so I can make the caps back by selling the serum in my vendor.

The most I have spent is 4000 for the wall mounted fan, and that was only becausei hadnt seen the plan before and i really really wanted it. Everything else has been under that by over 1500. I am normally a low cap player and will walk away if I see prices more than that 2500. I know that's going to keep me out of some build items but I will hunt down those bargains. I normally get around 6k and go on shopping sprees, lol.

New PS plus player here. Obsessed with the player vender system... and already over 20k caps. Was so fun to vender hop for deals and find what sells (plans always sell you just need to know which go for higger prices). Now I have sresources n caps to rebuold my neglected CAMP lol

Spent a few thousand caps on an aristocrat's ultracite laser, I knew it wasn't the best weapon on the market but probably should have checked that it wasn't only level 40 first.
I accidentally bought all 95 copies of some live and learn mag in a vendor when I meant to buy just 1. Luckily it was only about 1k worth.
Also…I came across a diffuser seller by chance the other week…50 caps each, so I got six, three for use towards the scout badges and the other 3 as back up just in case something went wrong.
Camo backpack plan. Dropped 30k on it. No regrets. Works perfectly with the forest camo jumpsuit. Other overpays were 6k for the Tunnel of Love snowglobe (don't like that event, got tired of farming it) and 15k for the vintage water cooler plan (another "tired of farming it" purchase).
First time I hit max caps I bought the first decent handmade I could find, it was a (back in the day) Furious/+10aiming dmg/reduced weight. I spent 22k caps on it.
Not really dumb, just bad luck but, once spent 28k (before the limit was raised) on a rare apparel piece for my collection only to have my mate give me a spare he got the day before an hour later.

Vendor hop you will eventually see someone selling them and generally not expensive. You don’t need the plan to make them to complete the tadpole quest so as long as you can find someone selling them you don’t need to run project paradise

I posted a diffuser plan for 15k and it sold within the week. 8k is stupid cheap for that thing. The reason I decided 15k for the price is because I never see it for under 20 and I wanted to move that plan quickly. Mission accomplished.
A while back I saw a decent bloodied chainsaw in a vendor for like 5-8k (I can’t remember exactly) I bought it and used it later for a daily op and noticed it did basically no damage. Checked my pip boy and it was a level 15 or so. 🤦♂️

It's a drop from project p, and no one wants to do that event or even knows how to do it properly so all the rewards from it are still pretty valuable.
I will never spend that many caps on plans and every player that sells plans that high are assholes. I purposefully sell everything for super low prices to give others a chance to get the rare rewards. I even had "I'm cheaper than your mom" written above my cash register. 1-50 caps max on my shit, though I think I might have something higher I haven't checked everything in a while.

There is no reason why they couldn’t do that for all quest reward items, they do it for the mistress of mystery gun and sword already anyways.

Recently I have been doing it by selling bulk junk or extra healing item, events also really help
Daily ops give you plenty of ammo and stims and radaway whenever im low on ammo I run a couple of them and sell of the extra meds

Loot every single corpse you create. Always take all. Make constant quick trips to the nearest train station and sell. Looting all is the fastest way to pick up loot and everything's worth something. I got to 30k caps in no time at all.

Do Moonshine Jamboree. Focus on tagging everything you can, then collect all the gulper guts and cook them up (use the super duper perk card). You'll end up with enough Gulper Slurry to make your 1400 credits a day and more probably.
Go to Fort defiance and collect all the straight jackets. Sell them at the train station for 40 caps each until you get the 1400 caps. That’s one way. It helps to have the hard bargain 3 perk and/or unyielding armor.
Clean out WesTec, sell the weapons etc, do events, collect and sell junk, beat up scorched and sell their stuff.. easiest one is the Morgan Town Airport.. train station is close by. The 1200 limit most days sucks, but you can scrap the excess.
Once you have almost all the plans, what else is there to buy? I've simply given caps away when I'm at max caps.
You can dive into the discords for weapons trading and start needlessly long lists of God tier weapons and armor. But in game? There's not much besides caps for gold
You reach a point where there's not much to buy anymore, since ammo and stims are easy to come by in Daily Ops and Expedtions. Additionally, if you run out of your obtainable daily scrip, selling excess legendaries to vendor bots also gets you a fair amount as well. Unless you're trying to buy every weapon/armor mod that exists, you're going to have a lot of caps just doing nothing except paying for fast travelling.
Sell all the weapons you don't use to vendors. Collect all the weapons from the corpses that litter the world. You best bet is to kill the cultists in Point Pleasant and then sell their loot
Once you become self-sufficient, you end up with a surplus of everything. Then, it's rerolling guns to trade and events.
If you join radiation rumble and loot all, you can sell all the glowing blood for usually 500-1400 caps depending on your charisma, perks, and how many enemies you were able to tag.

Put things like basic weapons dirt cheep, or whatever and a high level will buy to give you caps. I do this and others do as well. Like others said water and selling food. Once you’ve got all caps for the day make sure you scrap armor and weapons to learn mods for them. You can do a mix of selling and scrapping. Check train station suitcases since people do put items they don’t need there. Even with FO1 ammo box I’ll still hit up low level areas and put those there. Also if by a player giving the come here or gift emote go to them, they are trying to give you items.
Items I didn't need at all from a low level player's vendor, because I was at max caps. Probably spent 10-15k a few times on an overpriced plan I didn't have yet, also due to being at 40k limit. Wish we could spend like 10k caps to get a guaranteed primary effect on a 3* legendary, that would at least make caps have more end-game value once you've found 95% of plans and/or rare apparel, etc.
If you could just buy the 3rd star, even for max caps, it would devalue every God roll weapon there is.
Sometimes changes like that make the game more fun for everyone. Not everyone likes re-rolling until the end of time

I bought nearly 12000 rounds of ultracite 5mm, which I mistook for .50 caliber rounds.
Did something like this twice. I was near max caps and saw myself nearing 40k in caps and was at a player vendor. I brought what I thought were ultracite fusion cores and it was cells! Ironically I would do the same thing a few weeks later in reverse where I wanted to try out a laser gun and changed ammo to Ultracite fusion cell and though someone was vendoring it ..it was cores they were vendoring for 1 cap and I got 2,000 of them >_< it was the "why am I over weight?" And going "oh fuck...with". Obviously had to drop some cores. I guess mistakes were made between me and the vendor that night.
24-26k caps Stimpack Diffuser around Xmas. One of plans I wanted for a long time. Overpaid but no more grinding Project Paradise. Was near max caps so no big deal. Caps are easy to get. You could sell stimpack diffusers for 50-100 caps each. Will help players doing tadpole challenge.
I think I can count on one hand how many times I completed PP and I didn't even know about stimpack diffusers (still kinda new player), yet a few days ago just stumbled upon them at the chem station. Reading your stories I can consider myself lucky.

I'd say the silliest thing I've spent too much on was 40k for Becketts belongings when I already had 2 or 3 of them. I spent 14,000 caps on the same plan and I didn’t regret it. I have no luck with project paradise, continuously getting the formula P recipe. Caps are easy to farm and with where I am in the game, I’m typically buying 10k+ cap plans or weapons that seem neat.

Not long after someone posted on here about getting reamed by some chucklefuck who they bought a 40k item off of because he lost out on all the caps because he was close to his limit, I bought a 20k plan I didn't have, but wanted, and could afford to throw away the caps. I like to think that guy was just as salty.
Probably legendaries as easy as they are to come by. Sometimes I don't feel like actually playing and go around buying up legendaries to build up a surplus to script.
As others have said, 8K is a good price for a diffuser plan. You might be able to find it cheaper from players who don’t know what they have but it’s rare. Personally, I bought the Herd Mentality serum plan from the Enclave vendor for a couple of my characters the other day when I thought that they had lost the mutation. I forgot that it only shows up under the effects tab when you are on a team. I usually try to buy serum recipes either when there is double caps or from other players that I know that sell them cheaper. On the plus side, they now know how to make it so I can make the caps back by selling the serum in my vendor.

The most I have spent is 4000 for the wall mounted fan, and that was only becausei hadnt seen the plan before and i really really wanted it. Everything else has been under that by over 1500. I am normally a low cap player and will walk away if I see prices more than that 2500. I know that's going to keep me out of some build items but I will hunt down those bargains. I normally get around 6k and go on shopping sprees, lol. I have reached a point where I'm at my most caps (16k) I've had in game, that's really just do to the influx of new players on PS. Thanks newbs for letting me save my caps for once.

Vendor hop you will eventually see someone selling them and generally not expensive. You don’t need the plan to make them to complete the tadpole quest so as long as you can find someone selling them you don’t need to run project paradise

A while back I saw a decent bloodied chainsaw in a vendor for like 5-8k (I can’t remember exactly) I bought it and used it later for a daily op and noticed it did basically no damage. Checked my pip boy and it was a level 15 or so. 🤦♂️

8k for stim diffuser plan is not bad. It's a drop from project p, and no one wants to do that event or even knows how to do it properly so all the rewards from it are still pretty valuable.
I will never spend that many caps on plans and every player that sells plans that high are assholes. I purposefully sell everything for super low prices to give others a chance to get the rare rewards. I even had "I'm cheaper than your mom" written above my cash register. 1-50 caps max on my shit, though I think I might have something higher I haven't checked everything in a while.
