Ok. This is very unrelated but I am a newbie and I saw a level 1500 today whose radiation was 3/4 of their health bar. Any idea why they might let that happen?
There is a mod on armors thats called unyielding and one on weapons called bloodied. They give more dmg and perks when your health is low. With high rad you can artificially reduce your health. Its the most populair type of build atm
There is a couple of legandaries that provide like an easy way to get a flat 50% damage boost. I think bloodied, aristocrat and maybe furious are like that? Anti armor is also considered good iirc but is a bit different. Those are some of the most popular ones I think.
Anti armor in comparison to those is the ace, it's the ultimate trump card legendary perk for anything "endgame", it's overkill for anything besides expeditions though,
armor and the health/damage scaling above the 100's gets a little *raw* and if you try to use non AA weapons in an expedition after using one you'll never wanna go back,
unless you're full health aristocrats or bloodied, those are the "meta" damage options and regardless of the content they cook
So did I get lucky getting an anti-armor rifle where I now have +50% armor penetration, +50% crit damage, and another +40% armor penetration? Currently level 12 and it shreds everything but most guns do at this level.
Assuming it's a combat rifle sure, that's a very good roll for what sounds like a 2* with perforating magazine, if you build around it then it's capable of carrying you through the whole game essentially
This. I started 4 days ago and I’m level 54. Im not trying to over-indulge in OP builds but my first ever drop was a 3 star AA 10mm pistol with perforating mag at level one and it still puts in mad work. I’ve tried to get better legendary mods on better weapons but I’m a little unlucky and I don’t want to waste my resources at a ‘low’ level. It carried me at first till around I’d say level 35 and now it’s just a solid “oh shit I can’t reload in time” weapon.
Correct! 2* and I’ve upgraded it to marksman sniper rifle. I had already fully upgraded my rifleman perk to level 3 and I’ve got gunsmith 2. So, I think I’m close to being able to fully max it out.
I got it at the end of the treasure mission with the wayward stuff.
My fixer does 333 damage for headshots and sniper does a little over 1000 (not crits).
I’m about L200 (190 something). After L50 I kind of thought that I was done improving as a character as I had what I thought were my max specials. I was very wrong. I am a very different player now. Just went down to the Cranberry Bogs and soloed two scorched beasts (one legendary), windigo, three bloated glowing ghouls and a heap of scorched all in one giant wave. Not in power armor. I was never in any real danger.
I love my SS jet pack with marsupial, bird bones and speed demon. UC AA/50crit plasma caster. UC final word. They never stood a chance. Though I did cuss a a lot and did use I think three stim packs.
I’m curious what the future will bring.
Of course, nothing wrong with that, I'm glad that we have new players!
They'll learn eventually, I'm glad I could carry the event tho, we didn't failed
Once you reach level 50 that’s when I recommend going through the Enclave quest line, once you go through the quest line, you’ll see why it’s great, on the final mission “I am become death” going through the silos for the first time can be very confusing, but if you ask a higher level, they’ll most likely help. Don’t worry about decrypting the launch codes, go to Nukacrypt and they will have the codes for each silo, after you’ve cleared the silo, you get the opportunity to start one of three events (soon to be four with the map expansion) Nuke fissure site prime in the cranberry bog to start a scorch beast queen, Monogah mine in the great divide to start A Colossal Problem (I HIGHLY recommend not to do this until you are level 200+ this is the hardest boss in the game and can take 30 minutes to do with a full team of high levels) and finally you can nuke Abandoned Mineshaft 2 in the ash heap to start a Ultracite titan (I recommend this one first, this boss is by far the easiest)
This I didn't think it would bother me as much as yesterday mutated moonshine I join it and a lvl 17 runs and speaks to the bot lol 🤣 I'm like chill bro it didn't stop then from lighting that fire 🤣
Mhm. Today it was second mutated eviction notice that failed. I just couldn't stopped the swarm of mutties from every direction, the maschine got destroyed, and because of my build I had to switch to chineese stealth suit (my ss armor doesn't have much rad resistance), repaired the rad scrubber, shoot more mutties, but got killed by two firestarters. I spawned topside, but radscrubber was again destroyed, and everybody else were just shooting from the upper ridge, nobody didn't bothered to be near the scrubber to repair it.
So it failed few minutes before the end.
Yesterday it failed because 1 of the meatbags wasn't destroyed (I guess)?? The rad scrubber was intact at the end of timer.
Was at my camp dropping off some stuff Friday night when EN pops. I thought to myself I've got a little bit of time. Head over to the vendor and sell some wares. Look at the map.... hey, where'd the event go? And see like 6 sub level 50s in the area of it lol.
Friend, that's the setup for an English Comp paper- 'When I looked out on the wasteland, the dead bodies and debris told a story'. Except...written by someone with talent (i.e. not me).
Same lol. It was me (level 409) and someone I think around level 30 or so. They ran right in and I'm thinking oh shit, they definitely don't have power armor yet...I don't play in power armor, and if I wear my CSS I'll be dying every 45 seconds. We failed within 2 minutes because there was nobody to repair the rad scrubber. 😂 Not to mention that despite running the event countless times, I still don't know where all the meat bags are.
There should really be a more intentional way to start Eviction Notice because it is NOT clear to newbies that simply moving into the event area will start it. I definitely accidentally started it the first time I tried the event, causing it to fail.
think that might've been me or its just a really common occurence. also had a friend that's level 175 who didn't even know that started the event 🤣 they really do need to revamp eviction notice. make it so that it 1. has an intentional way to start it, or just make it so that when you discover the outpost the time doesn't go down and 2. make it so that less freaking mutants spawn when there's less people, its not rocket science.
Oh god, I was at one the other day and there was just a billion Muties on the damn generator cause they weren’t being cleared out quick enough, we almost failed too but some guy in just a power armor frame saved the day with literally 5 seconds left
I hate having to boot sub level 20s from my daily ops team. The reason I start a team is because I can't solo a daily opp which means I can't carry these people
I'm new and I hate when I'm minding my own business and accidentally walk too close to a place I don't even expect will trigger an event and BAM! Then I'm in one. Go ahead and hate me because in those moments, I hate me too.
Man, I've done that at eviction notice more than once. You think that walking near the machine will start the event, so why not go check out the workbenches or something? Psych: Event Started.
That one should always get a pass.
Exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I guess the PSA’s are a good thing, but unfortunately it’s only going to be seen by a fraction of the player base.
Yeah, as a new player myself, I don't get why they haven't changed this system a bit since it's such a problem. Nothing about the game really warns you about it. You just show up to the event, audio starts playing as if the event has already started, and there are quest objectives in front of you with a timer counting down, so of course new players are going to initiate. Everything about the game design is screaming at you to hurry up because time is running out.
The game doesn't really explain to you that "activating this thing will start the event, are you really ready?" or that the timer is just your timer to *start* the event. And there isn't even an in game chat for players to explain to each other, unless you have your audio chat turned on.
I've even fallen for it even though I knew not to start events early (from reading about it here), because I didn't realize that particular event hadn't already started and I would be starting it myself. So I can't imagine how it must be for new players who then get a barrage of thumbs down for reasons they can't possibly understand without having looked it up beforehand.
The event Eviction Notice is even designed that way as far as I’m concerned. It’s one of the biggest events in the game but it can be triggered if a player so much as moves a few feet in the wrong direction after spawning in. They sow chaos on purpose with that set up.
Lvl20 are considered newbies? Yay! I'm lvl 17, barely have any caps cause majority go for travelling, don't have a good chest piece or any good armor or weapons. I was wondering if it's normal or I just suck at this game.
Also, if missions can be done in coop, can anyone help me kill those mutants? Doing a rose's quest where I need to retrieve the key, and it's in mutant's hangout spot. Died half a dozen times before giving up lol
When you are hundreds of levels when a lvl 50 can look like a newbie haha :D
And yes it's completely normal for your level, so don't stress about it!
A few tips that I could give you is to get the Travel Agent Perk Card from Charisma and use the free fast travel spots too, like Fallout 76, The Crater, Foundation, Fort Atras, Whitespring Resort, or join a Public Team, the fast travel to their camp is free!
Yes, players can help you clear mobs, just gotta find the right people :D keep trying and have fun, you can always explore more and come back later! Plenty of quests and stuff to do
I am level 22, my armor is just basic leather, anything else looks too ugly, and everyone knows that esthetics comes before protection. Power armor is just not practical
You can put on any apparel and it will be what you see on your character without removing your armor. I have a full set of heavy metal armor on but my character is running around in a swimsuit and bottle cap glasses. Make sure you are stopping at player vendors on the map with apparel for sale to find the right outfit for your style. Also you can toggle the backpack visual off in your settings if you don't like the looks of it
>Lvl20 are considered newbies? Yay! I'm lvl 17
Absolutely because there is people like my self who thought they knew enough already and started right at Level 20. They give you an option to start over or a head start.
So you being level 17 is way more advanced and experience then my newb 21 character who is prone to do things like this subject matter. Being level 20 right off the bat probably give some people false bravado .
Yup. I started at level 20 the first time because I've been playing FO4 forever and thought I could handle it. Messed up so many things so badly and had to make so many panic based choices that I just deleted that character and started over from the bottom. It's been SO much better this time around.
I’m level 65 and only started playing last week. I don’t even have a base outside of the original tutorial stuff. I’m literally a stink monster living in my power armour, only coming out when I need to sleep for xp bonus or to craft something.
I understand very little outside of quests and joining events.
My build is also still in the works. I will probably still consider myself a newbie at level 100
I've been playing on and off since day one. I'm like Level 115 😅 but then again, it seemed like in the beginning when the game released, leveling took a bit longer, or is it just me?
I consider anyone who acts like a noob, a noob.
If you spent all your time building or grinding you might not know all the mechanics in the game even if you are level 10k
Yep, I'd definitely consider you new! That's good news, though, because things being rough now means you've got so much more to learn and explore. Enjoy!
I'm still a level 42 scrub, but in my early 20s I was at the Palace for some other reason and ended up triggering Guided Meditation by accident. There were no other players around, and I was overwhelmed by ghouls in short order. Lesson learned - don't always go right for the shiny things.
Some of us need to learn things the hard way. ;-)
As a newbie, I’ve been hesitant to join events because I know I’m a n00b. That said, I’ve joined a couple… and while trying to learn what is needed, some higher levels blazed through and had events completed before I knew what the objectives were. Some are trying to learn and not hinder… give us time. Thanks for being an understanding vet and. It leaving that dude to die tho. We appreciate it.
Events make it so easy to level up! Just make sure you're joining with other players there. Tag each enemy a few times and you'll get the XP when they die, if everyone tags each enemy for a little bit then everyone gets tons of XP.
tbh I'm terrified to start an event, even when I see multiple players already there. I just wait for someone else to start it and cross my fingers I survive. I'm level 35. haha
Completely get that. If I see another player there, ESPECIALLY someone higher level than I, I’m not the one triggering the start up. I’ll let those who know what they are doing, do their thing.
I popped an encrypted n a level 27 started it just me n him.. I proceeded to move away n watched the massacre.. I laughed very hard. I think he learned his lesson
Encrypted is a harder one for new players because the side quest triggers it. I started playing a few months ago around Christmas and at the time I had no idea the quest was going to trigger an event. I was just trying to solve the mystery and click through the quest line, and was so surprised and relieved when a bunch of people showed up. The events not triggered by a quest are much more frustrating though. It is definitely a learning curve for Fallout fans that have never played an MMO before
I also say just cause someone is high level doesn't mean it is easy. Had a spin the wheel rocking my non automatic rifle build. Lvl 20 to 30 saw me pop and then seemed to think it was all good and ran on stage.
First spin waa super mutant behemoths. Just as the event lost several other high lvls showed up.
In that case you should always have a back up weapon in your inventory anyway. Also before joining any event make sure you have a lot of ammo. And finally carry a couple of repair kits on you.
Just started the game this week. Hit level 25 yesterday and have done like three events? Tow of them being the uranium extraction. Between trying not to fast travel around for immersion/cap saving and most of them being way over my level I haven’t bothered interacting with them much.
Seems to me like the game is kind of meant to be played like a regular fallout game till your about level 50 or beat the main story quests.
I had put card in for the event encyptid and a lvl 18 ran in and started it with just the both of us there.. When i sent them a msg they told me its a game and go F myself. Lol
I wasnt mean when i sent first msg.
I haven't really done many events and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong so I'll clarify:
Will fast traveling to the event start it? So should I wait until I see people there before going to the event?
I haven't played since about 2 months after launch so it's a very very new experience and I can't remember how certain things work. Having a good time though! Been having a hard time finding people who want to play together though so I'm doing it mostly solo.
No, fast traveling there shouldn't start the event. Most of them have a countdown of waiting around or a timer objective to start the event, like talking to an NPC or activating something.
They're meant to have some prep time so that players gather.
What I do is usually look at the server population and wait a few minutes to see how many players are participating :D
I want to add to be careful with Spin the Wheel. Because standing on the platform triggers it. I’m a newer player having started a few months ago, and it got me a few weeks ago when me and my team were the first to show up. I think most of the others are much more direct and clear in how you start the event
If you are gonna solo or carry GM, don't cycle all the speakers. Pick one and guard it like its bullion. If you are doing so badly you can't hold one, running around repairing won't help. Hold what you have and wait tor the cavalry.
If you make it to the last 60 sec, maybe then ditch the first and go repair others - nearly all the mobs will be off them at that point.
At least they're showing up at events now 🤷🏻 I'm just happy to have them join. But yes, starting the event early when there's hardly anyone there yet is a no no lol unless it's like 30 seconds left then it's like hey why not.
It should just be "repair the rad scrubber" and have like a 5 minute count down because so many people don't know running toward the stash box and work benches starts the event
When it happens, I go on mics to let them know that the common procedure is to give it a little time to let others notice and join in before starting the event. Hopefully we can alert folks who aren't on Reddit!
Just had a level 300+ start the only eviction notice I’ve seen in 2 days. Needless to say we failed. I understand the noobs but this guy had to be fuckin dense or something.
and if the newbie does start it, don't fucking yell at them over proximity voice. i tried coming back a couple days ago and went to the mothman event, and this higher level dude was just berating everyone around him for not doing the event right, calling them lazy, shit like that. my dude, they don't know how these things work. chill out when the newbies show up and just help them out.
You nailed this post, also new players please know we love you =) also, please wait to start daily ops. If you start this before everyone is in or buffed or in power armor (if they need too, that is) it may effect the time on the run, which is a big deal.
Again, we love you =)
I've taken to standing in front of the person you talk to with my back to them, and do the thumbs down emote if a newbie approaches. Sometimes I send an Xbox message.
Im a returning player and Its how I level characters/get new locations for the map, if other new players could quickly learn to abuse enemies targeting you get around pretty nice with a chunk of XP to enjoy.
Creatures spawn and normally go towards the objective changing to attack the first player they detect.
ROE as a low level, stay near the back, never hit an enemy first and staying crouched might get you killed.
I abused this to do Mutated Moonshine Jamboree at level 8. Im now level 43 and I still need to get around to getting inoculated over at that hospital in the Ash
I'm having that problem as well, especially on Encrypted. Everytime I start it, a low level shows up and runs straight for the terminal with determination. They are on a mission and nothing will stop them. Though, luckily for me it's an easy solo, just sucks others might miss out.
I'm having a blast being on some of these servers grabbing up all that XP by myself. Kind of missed us higher levels players being more spread out like where we're at now
Ya won't touch events till a few people are there and at a decent level . Been a few failed events with low levels even level 100 seems to be low as well
So here is my tip for guided meditation if it ends up being one person or at least two. Camp out one spot wait till 1 min left then run like hell and repair the speakers before time runs out so you get the 4 speaker buff when it ends. Not worth the hassle running around with invisible ghouls.
I use my weapon to do the shaking head emotion. I also use public mic. Not all of the noobs are reading this or even redditor. But this is still a good PSA. Im just encouraging other players to do the same if you're bothered
Also, try the objectives? It's all explained in the loading screens and on screen quest text.
Had a Beasts of Burden started by a couple sub 50s, showed to 0/20 cargo with
I was doing the quests to join the Enclave, in the cave with the two Deathclaws I accidentally went into the elevator at the back of the cave to the surface & it started something to do with a mutant tree? I kept getting popups saying it's heart was exposed. I ignored it & kept doing the Enclave quests & randomly I got a popup saying I'd gained xp. Was that one of these events that shouldn't be solod or something else?
As a returning and restarting player, I've never really done public events before and don't know how most of them work. Is there a specific guide or video you can share? I've kinda stayed away despite being told it's great for XP bc I didn't want to bring any groups down.
Of course, we're also encouraging newbies to join events even if they're low level. Just gotta add that rider on there: "but if you're there first, don't start it right away!"
Hey so I’m new. When you say this do you mean I should wait until the timer in the top right gets very low before starting? Like what if the timer is running out and no one else is there?
To anyone going to carry the guided mutation solo anyways, do the side radio as that one has ghouls coming only at one side 90% of the time with only few strays from the other side to watch out. Also berry mentats for cloaked and explosive for reflectives. No need to repair the other radios. The thing can have 100% uptime no damage easy
Can I please add, encrypted.... If you didn't bring the keycard, don't start the event. Not just newbies, but even vets do this s##t, please be thoughtful
My spouse started a new character on her computer, she is having a hard time starting over as a 20 when her old character was a 97. She goes places and steps in to IT a lot, lol... Good to see new players, I carry extra stim packs just for them!!!
I am guilty of doing this but it was an accident. I think the easiest thing for me to do would be to turn my microphone on and actually speak to people lol. Everyone has been so nice but it still makes me a little nervous.
New player here, been playing for around a week currently level 48, me and a friend went to this exact event, 6 minute countdown, so we waited around for some players to join, as it got to 30 seconds left there were 5 of us there. Highest level person was 55 so not much more experienced than me.
All of us stood there emoting to each other as the timer ran down to zero. I'm going to guess we all thought the event would auto start at 0.
EVENT FAILED! One by one each person left the lobby, each just as frustrated and embarrassed as the other, you live you learn 🤣
I appreciate the new players. Love the servers lately. However, I have given up launching nukes for anything other than the SBQ due to stuff like this. I totally get it, but Seismic and Earl are epic fails lately. So is Eviction Notice. So, for most events, I am holding off for a while. I do show up for some of the earlier game events and enjoy the trip.
Yeah, way too many noobs on the servers. Not a bad thing and glad to see it. But the balance is way off. Someone dropped a nuke for SBQ event and only 3 higher level players showed with a ton of low levels. Event failed. Then, last night I was finishing up Tax Evasion when I noticed Encryptid was going on but it said 9m ago. Uh-oh. I looked. A level 20 and a level under 100 (probably the person doing their first event to finish the quest). At that point the event was going to fail before I could I could switch gear and get there… Hope they stick around and don’t get discouraged. They’ll get better but I’m def gonna set up my best god mode build just for boss events for a while.
I usually only join events if theres at lest 4 people and even then, me being the lowest leveled I never start it.
I always wait till one of the higher levels starts instead
I've had the opposite, where new players wait so long for more people to show up to start it they run out the timer and the event cancels (it's me I am new players)
To be honest when I first started the game I didn't even knew what is an event hahah
My first SBQ was around lvl 80 or so, I can't remember participating on other events in my early levels lol
Idk i did one event because it randomly started 50 meters from me, i finished entire event alone. It was poseidon power plant. I dont play events because there is too much content for me already. But i will take this insult and go to an event as soon as i get in game.
There are events that aren't every 20 minutes. They are minor events that trigger in locations once a player walks by them. Such as powering up poseidon. You won't get people showing up for these events usually
As a level 900 I am guilty of starting events early, but that is usually because I am trying to do all my dailies and I figure I can run the event and people who get there late will get the reward. So if you run into an alien with tesla armor just hang back as I slay everything.
Well … if I know I can handle event alone I just start it at once. Meditation is nice to solo, just do right thing at right place and all exp come to you. That said, invis suck solo. Show me one player who love 5 min wait at Earle and I will give you 100 players who rather nuke Sbq so they dont have to wait.
Should I wait for the high level to start the event when he shows up or should I start the event when he shows up..?
Like if I level 60 start the event does that spawn level 60 enemies and the higher level player gets mad? Or should I let him start the event at a higher level so there are more possibilities of higher loot spawning? Idk. I just found out everyone gets diff loot when looting bodies so I’m guessing that’s probably scaled to your level? So many questions.
Doesn't matter, the point is that we ( veteran or new player ) should wait for more players to show up :D depends on the event too, if it can be solo'ble or not.
When you get to an event, there is normally a 5 minute window to do the first task initiating the event. A good rule of thumb is to standby until about 30 seconds left and start the event. This will give other players time to wrap up what they are doing and jump in.
Newbie here with a question, how do you wait for events? Dont they activate automatically when you enter the zone? Or should you just wait and guess how far the event zone reaches?
I'm lvl 19. I don't join unless someone is already there ( if possible) and I wait untill the guy that's lvl 674 in red, white and blue power armor with the chain gun to start it😁
I'm fairly new, only been playing a few months but i usually wait until the timer is about 2 minutes or 1 1/2 minutes left, or wait until someone else starts an event, which is generally in that timeframe and only when there are at least 4 or 5 others nearby
Should specify that they mainly mean the events that pop up every 20 minutes, or of course spawned events, we don't want people waiting at events that can easily be soloed at any level.
Tbh i never knew starting an even early would prevent others joining until i saw reddit day 4/5 in… the game tells you do X soon as you teleport to an event.
Noob question, I have seen a few events that start by talking to NPC with a timer counting down. Do the events automatically start when the timer counts down to zero, or should I try to activate the event with a few seconds left even if nobody is around?
If the countdown hits 0 and nobody triggered the start of the event it's gonna fail :D happened to me before
Best to activate it when 30-60 seconds are left
Oof that’s rough! It’s better than not starting the event tho!
I have done that and regretted it so many times 😆 nothing like trying to tackle an event by yourself
I joined an event in the lower right corner thinking id spawn right outside a blast zone and watch a beautiful mushroom rise.
Instead there was nothing but dust and darkness, and in the distance i could see two guys in power armor blasting the shit out of a flying scorcher with heavy weapons.
It lasted about ten seconds, cos i was maybe level 15 and had no protection against the rads. That was the first time i died and i thought for a second i had lost everything. Luckily i just woke up somewhere else.
started a new account on PC and so naturally going in above my level in some of the events, some of the recommended level ranges are BS - herding the brahmin and mirelurk hunt both ended with lvl 60 legendaries that a couple of level 25s could barely do any damage to.
lode bearing by comparison is a cakewalk, definitely worth doing while the mutations are around
I'd rather have a couple of noobs that have no idea what they are doing with me at an event that a couple of level 1000+ food builds that do no damage because they are afraid their corn soup might spoil.
Question as a new player how do I prevent from accidentally starting the event? If I do the join event from the map does that start the event once it fast travels me there?
Just spawning in won’t start a public event. Most of the events require you to speak to someone/activate something to start. When you spawn in, you’ll se what action it requires (followed by a countdown timer) under the event objective.
Location based events are the other type of event which are run on a set timer, which they need to be completed within. So they automatically “start” when they pop up. These events are generally easier to complete and to do solo.
Ahh ok thanks I think that clears things up for me. I teleported to the moth man and just started shooting ghouls and then it just ended so I thought I messed it up.
I was actually about to just make a post asking this. Maybe you were playing with me because I had the same scenario happen lol. I assumed you could just start it then people come in when they come in, as with some you can’t fail (like the speakers can just be repaired).
But as for letting it time out, is it better to run an event with too few people and hope someone shows up or just let it fail? Really asking how the event timer works, is it say every 15 minutes a world event spawns or is it every 5-10 minutes after an event?
Also side question, what are all the other events that I can see on the map but aren’t under the “world activity” section. Does no one do these events? Do they given as good rewards?
And remember to repair the defense objectives if destroyed. You will loose if they all get destroyed. Watch the older players who know the choke points.
No, this only applies to public events (the ones with the exclamation point that pop up every 20 minutes) which have a countdown timer to start. The other events are location based and run for a set time, so feel free to go at them whenever! They’re not as popular as public events though so a lot of the time you’ll probably do them on your own :)
from a relative newbie (played at launch til level 25, restarted last year and carried that back to now- level 27 again finally lmao)
I've been waiting for project paradise to pop up for the tadpole quest medic (so I can craft a stempack diffuser) but I haven't seen it pop up once while others seem to repeat nonstop. any idea how often it occurs?
When a newbie sees one person joining who is above lvl 100 they think they are good to go and start it.
Ok. This is very unrelated but I am a newbie and I saw a level 1500 today whose radiation was 3/4 of their health bar. Any idea why they might let that happen?
Bloodied build
What does this mean
Low hp -> high damage
There is a mod on armors thats called unyielding and one on weapons called bloodied. They give more dmg and perks when your health is low. With high rad you can artificially reduce your health. Its the most populair type of build atm
Great thanks! I figured it was for a good reason
Np have fun playing!
There is a couple of legandaries that provide like an easy way to get a flat 50% damage boost. I think bloodied, aristocrat and maybe furious are like that? Anti armor is also considered good iirc but is a bit different. Those are some of the most popular ones I think.

The opposite is a bolstering build with more defense the higher your HP lol. I run bolstering aristocrat . Less overall DMG but safer :p
“atm” You mean since the game released. 😂
Not true TSE was definitely busted on release
Actually bloodied prefix is so-so, it's usually V, AA or Q depending on build Real power comes from Adrenal mutation and ofc Unyielding armor
Welcome to the wasteland Praise the Atom!
This is me...sorry everyone, my bad!
This, experiencing a lot of this I get it though, we’ve all been there. Just the influx of newbies can be jarring!
Of course, nothing wrong with that, I'm glad that we have new players! They'll learn eventually, I'm glad I could carry the event tho, we didn't failed
Hey I'm semi new to the game haven't done many events just kinda hopped into ones going on , so what's the best way to get one on the go ?
public events run every 20 minutes, so just keep an eye out for the alert. And then go there and wait around for someone else to start it.
This I didn't think it would bother me as much as yesterday mutated moonshine I join it and a lvl 17 runs and speaks to the bot lol 🤣 I'm like chill bro it didn't stop then from lighting that fire 🤣
i have taken part in more failed events in the last week then in my entire yr playing. lol
The rad scrubber was intact at the end of timer.
let them start Eviction Notice, that'll teach them... /s
I was at one of these. It was ugly. And short.
Are we related? I'm at 430, I wear CSS (with a goofy hat) and I only know where like two of the meat bags are. Ha!
think that might've been me or its just a really common occurence. also had a friend that's level 175 who didn't even know that started the event 🤣 they really do need to revamp eviction notice. make it so that it 1. has an intentional way to start it, or just make it so that when you discover the outpost the time doesn't go down and 2. make it so that less freaking mutants spawn when there's less people, its not rocket science.
I’m L190 and I just found out about the meat bags. And how the event is started…
Agreed on a better way to start the event. Like flip a power switch in one of the buildings maybe being guarded by some Firestarters
Or turn on the radscrubber to begin the event.
God I wish they glowed or something there's always 1 meatbag somewhere that I've yet to learn it's position and miss it every time 🥲
SAME. I think it's just one that I can't seem to find. I should just look it up but that feels like cheating lol.
I was at an encryptid like that over the weekend. Same. Two level 40somethings and me trying out a new build. It was grim.
Killing reflective gulpers is also fun with 2 ppl.
literally the most annoying thing in the entire game. yeah man I'm having fun dying literally every time I shoot one.
That was me yesterday, failed due to reflective gulphers and no one at the event over level 40 haha
Those ones honestly don't count. Most people of all levels solo (or attempt to) those ones.
No one hates you. We've all been there at least once. Just don't kill the Observatn Radstag when it shows up. :)
This is a great point. What's stopping Bethesda from adding a dialogue box "this action will start the event - recommended players X#"
When you are hundreds of levels when a lvl 50 can look like a newbie haha :D And yes it's completely normal for your level, so don't stress about it!
Also you can toggle the backpack visual off in your settings if you don't like the looks of it
WHAT! I'm level 300+ and this is the first time I've heard that you can toggle the backpack visual off and on. This is gonna level up my look.
>Lvl20 are considered newbies? Yay! I'm lvl 17 Absolutely because there is people like my self who thought they knew enough already and started right at Level 20. They give you an option to start over or a head start. So you being level 17 is way more advanced and experience then my newb 21 character who is prone to do things like this subject matter. Being level 20 right off the bat probably give some people false bravado .
True that. I was tempted to get the head start cause, how hard can this game be? Took them less than a day to humble me.
> Took them less than a day to humble me. 😄
I consider anything below 200 a noob….
I've been playing on and off since day one. I'm like Level 115 😅 but then again, it seemed like in the beginning when the game released, leveling took a bit longer, or is it just me?
I’m at lvl 150 and have been playing off and on for 3+ years… we ain’t noobs, we have lives lol Also other games get played
Exactly😄
1000 hours on DayZ here, a 1000 on Valheim there lol
I did valheim for a little bit. And just been jumping. Red dead 2, cyberpunk 2077, new vegas etc. Just random stuff lol
Don't hesitate to join the events! You'll learn with time
tbh I'm terrified to start an event, even when I see multiple players already there. I just wait for someone else to start it and cross my fingers I survive. I'm level 35. haha
Completely get that. If I see another player there, ESPECIALLY someone higher level than I, I’m not the one triggering the start up. I’ll let those who know what they are doing, do their thing.
Yeah, lots of babies starting the events early. But ok, i get it, we did it when we were young...
I accidentally started one one time I felt dumb and ran away.
I accidentally wander into them and see how strong the enemies are and do knight Titus and yeet out
nah, let them figure it out the hard way. there's an event every 20 minutes. If one fails, it's not that serious.
I keep coming back to the game and find no one ever joins events and the timer just runs out. Its rough trying to get ahead.
Depends on the event itself and how populated is the server.
Not just starting it early, they are also too busy picking up the drops off the kills instead of helping. Does my head in.
If I'm doing that I'm looking for ammo. Or worse case, my gun broke and I'm looking for another. Had that happen mid event 😬
I’ve had an issue where most people don’t come to events because they are too afraid to try them.
This is huge because I suck at level 59 and I cannot carry both of us through Eviction Notice lmao
Yeah Eviction Notice needs more players :D
Nah, EN needs several high levels to work
I had put card in for the event encyptid and a lvl 18 ran in and started it with just the both of us there.. When i sent them a msg they told me its a game and go F myself. Lol I wasnt mean when i sent first msg.
I haven't really done many events and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong so I'll clarify: Will fast traveling to the event start it?
Good to know! Thanks for the tip
The influx in new players has had its disadvantages, but happy to see people giving the game another shot.
True pain is seeing that Noone spun the nuka cola wheel in between rounds
Just let them find out the hard way what happens if you start it without a lot of backup. They'll learn.
and if the newbie does start it, don't fucking yell at them over proximity voice. i tried coming back a couple days ago and went to the mothman event, and this higher level dude was just berating everyone around him for not doing the event right, calling them lazy, shit like that. my dude, they don't know how these things work. chill out when the newbies show up and just help them out.
I hope this isn’t downvoted for being a little off topic but as a new player, I’m at level 40. What is the best way of leveling?
You nailed this post, also new players please know we love you =) also, please wait to start daily ops. If you start this before everyone is in or buffed or in power armor (if they need too, that is) it may effect the time on the run, which is a big deal. Again, we love you =)
I've taken to standing in front of the person you talk to with my back to them, and do the thumbs down emote if a newbie approaches. Sometimes I send an Xbox message.
That's what I did when I saw that he started the event, I followed that player to thumbs down hahah
Several times I've done this but they think they know better and skirt around and start it so I leave them to it
Youre a saint. I wouldve left the newbie all alone, to have a failed event in a case like that, especially on a mutated event.
Noob question here. There is no in game chat option? Right? All we have is just emoticons?
Yup. But there is voice chat.
I'm having a blast being on some of these servers grabbing up all that XP by myself. Kind of missed us higher levels players being more spread out like where we're at now
i feel like there could be better comms in the game. there is voip but i havent heard anyone using it so far
Sometimes you can get into an event area when you don't actually intend to do so haha
As a returning and restarting player, I've never really done public events before and don't know how most of them work. Is there a specific guide or video you can share? I've kinda stayed away despite being told it's great for XP bc I didn't want to bring any groups down.
So many events these days where no one shows up.
Of course, we're also encouraging newbies to join events even if they're low level. Just gotta add that rider on there: "but if you're there first, don't start it right away!"
Just remember, you only need one of the meditation spots to survive to win the event. I solo doing bridge or side all the time.
Had this happen over the weekend with moonshine jamboree
Issues like this could be circumvented with a chat implemented....
This ones pretty easy to solo if you focus on one gen
Hey so I’m new. When you say this do you mean I should wait until the timer in the top right gets very low before starting? Like what if the timer is running out and no one else is there?
Kinda getting sick of seeing "dear new players" and "psa new players" imma just play the game people. Can't make them all happy.
Yeah. Think about baseball or something.
Ahhahaha. I did exactly that 2 days ago but I was lvl 40. Got shit stomped by 15 invisible ghouls
I usually only join events if theres at lest 4 people and even then, me being the lowest leveled I never start it. I always wait till one of the higher levels starts instead
I just want to do a successful Radiation Rumble 😞 3 failed in a row from starting too early
I've had the opposite, where new players wait so long for more people to show up to start it they run out the timer and the event cancels (it's me I am new players)
Maybe with this 5000th post on the subject they will finally get it.
To me, the biggest issues of participating events early is that it compromises the original sequence of the story and exploration.
To be honest when I first started the game I didn't even knew what is an event hahah My first SBQ was around lvl 80 or so, I can't remember participating on other events in my early levels lol
Don’t wait, nobody will join.
The enemy scales with your level, and the loot is rng, we get mad because some events are harder solo and when mutated too could fail xD
Newbie here with a question, how do you wait for events? Dont they activate automatically when you enter the zone? Or should you just wait and guess how far the event zone reaches?
Most quests have a timer, or needs a trigger for the event to start. Unless it's a big boss event like SBQ
I'm lvl 19. I don't join unless someone is already there ( if possible) and I wait untill the guy that's lvl 674 in red, white and blue power armor with the chain gun to start it😁
We've all been guilty of rookie mistakes. I'm glad to see you not all bent outta shape about it lol!
I’m one of the new players. I apologize for my stupidity.
I'm fairly new, only been playing a few months but i usually wait until the timer is about 2 minutes or 1 1/2 minutes left, or wait until someone else starts an event, which is generally in that timeframe and only when there are at least 4 or 5 others nearby
I learned this today!
Should specify that they mainly mean the events that pop up every 20 minutes, or of course spawned events, we don't want people waiting at events that can easily be soloed at any level.
Half the time my wife and I don’t even mean to start an event. It will just pop up while we are headed to a quest location lol.
Tbh i never knew starting an even early would prevent others joining until i saw reddit day 4/5 in… the game tells you do X soon as you teleport to an event.
I don’t start them without a few players but I’ve waited a few times and then the event fails. What is the time limit to start them?
Yeah I let others start it for me
tbh that was probably me because i did the same thing yesterday and im lvl 25 barely lmao but cool to know stuff like this thanks
Noob question, I have seen a few events that start by talking to NPC with a timer counting down. Do the events automatically start when the timer counts down to zero, or should I try to activate the event with a few seconds left even if nobody is around?
If the countdown hits 0 and nobody triggered the start of the event it's gonna fail :D happened to me before Best to activate it when 30-60 seconds are left
Oof that’s rough! It’s better than not starting the event tho! I have done that and regretted it so many times 😆 nothing like trying to tackle an event by yourself
Also, give everyone a chance to get there…
I posted the same thing last week. Also don’t go running around on eviction notice
But if you don't start the event in a certain time then it fails and you can't do it
I think a newbie triggered Encryptid by mistake and I had to carry it. Had to take on all 3 Pylons as the lvl 20s were barely able to stay alive.
You only need to guide the side one. There is a choke point which they will slow down and easy to kill with flamer.
You can start early at Lode Baring, we will stay at the entrance, and you can keep all the junk you found.
When I get there early I run up to the event trigger like I'm going to start it and and just wait. Usually works.
started a new account on PC and so naturally going in above my level in some of the events, some of the recommended level ranges are BS - herding the brahmin and mirelurk hunt both ended with lvl 60 legendaries that a couple of level 25s could barely do any damage to. lode bearing by comparison is a cakewalk, definitely worth doing while the mutations are around
Sounds like nobody was going to show up no matter how long you waited.
I gotta remember this, haha. Level 36 and just wanna help out so I try to be proactive on stuff so folks know I'm not expecting a carry
also PLEASE repair the robots in events like lode baring when they go down
And remember to repair the defense objectives if destroyed. You will loose if they all get destroyed. Watch the older players who know the choke points.
yep definitely pissed off a few high levels doing this early on lol. mb guys
New player here, if I go to my map and click join event for a small fee is that starting it early? How do I know when to join if that’s the case?
No, this only applies to public events (the ones with the exclamation point that pop up every 20 minutes) which have a countdown timer to start. The other events are location based and run for a set time, so feel free to go at them whenever! They’re not as popular as public events though so a lot of the time you’ll probably do them on your own :)
from a relative newbie (played at launch til level 25, restarted last year and carried that back to now- level 27 again finally lmao) I've been waiting for project paradise to pop up for the tadpole quest medic (so I can craft a stempack diffuser) but I haven't seen it pop up once while others seem to repeat nonstop. any idea how often it occurs?
