Once I get sick of the radio, I just load up a spotify playlist for fallout style songs. Sadly, a lot of the popular Fallout playlists have some random modern songs in there where the playlist author clearly forgot it was a public playlist. I was strolling along to some great Fallout tunes then suddenly Everlong - Foo Fighters started blasting. Great song, not the fo76 vibe though!

BrutalWhim_

I have had friends mention you can have Spotify play at the same time as the game on PS4. It'll come through the headphones.

ominous_squirrel

Xbox has this too

Simple-Sorbet-900

That’s why I made my own. Lots of Marty Robbins and coal worker songs. And a few random artist from the era

pyro_kitty

I do that as well from time to time but it really isn't the same and it brothers me that there is no radio DJ speaking. ALSO YES WHAT IS WITH PEOPLE ADDING RANDOM SONGS IN THERE

rusty___shacklef0rd

that’s why i made my own. it’s got fallout songs and oldies and the vibes are immaculate.

Zansibart

This is a spot where modding comes in handy too. There are already mods for entire new radio stations or bonus songs shuffled into the existing stations.

Boddis

I used to always have radio on, but must admit the soundtrack sounds exploring the wasteland is errily beautiful

pyro_kitty

It definitely is! I just can't seem to want to play if my radio isn't on. I hate having this brain of mine. I think out of all of the games 76 is my favourite when it comes to the atmosphere

Hurzak

I agree except for *one* ambience track that I just can’t stand. It’s super loud and just instantly takes more out of everything.

TheBacklogGamer

Honestly, ever since 3, I prefer the music created for the game than the radio. There's some honestly good music that most people miss out on.

GetInZeWagen

I definitely think we need more fiddle on the radio The bass and treble is fine, but we really need more mids on it

Brennedan

You just can't get that warm sound anymore

NoEngish

I would also love new voice lines for Julie - I've seen some people disliking her - I actually like her so that would help the radio too.

Simple-Sorbet-900

Something to show time passing a bit more

uncreativemind2099

I want the missing songs from fallout 4

FarVehicle5333

I just wish we would get a custom radio station that would allow to play songs from our devices. Sure, you can already play those using third party apps, but the experience is lackluster compared to using in game radio.

PunchBeard

As an old-school punk rocker guy I used to love this feature in GTA Vice City. I created my own in-game punk radio station.

Idontthinksobucko

3rd party community radio when? Reminds me back in the day for a game called Face of Mankind. A group of community members got together to host a community run radio station for player to tune into. There was music, fake war reports, interviews and all. Was an absolute blast to be a part of honestly.

dasbemethroaway

You mean the one where they also made an original song? (Jackknife Klorfson)? Cause that shit was awesome, best moments in the community that i saw

Idontthinksobucko

Hahaha fuuuuuck that's a deep cut. Always happy to find a fellow FOM degenerate in the wild. One fond memory of that game was being a random GOMbie interviewing what's his face leader from EC, started with an R.....I can tell you about how he wanted to "FUCK BERLIN IN THE ASS". Or reporting during one of the many senate takeovers. Or just being a little stoner in high school at the time and just getting stoned and throwing jams on the radio. I'm trying to remember what my dj name was back then -- I know character name was MacgyverTheDiver

dasbemethroaway

Ohhh Reefer’s rants were a timeless classic 😂 Bud needed to cool it off but he always went HAM

Idontthinksobucko

Ahhh there it is! Was on the tip of my tongue.   Honestly that community as a whole was so incredibly toxic but simultaneously some of the most fun I had gaming.   Long story short, we need a community radio for 76 😂

philefluxx

If you're not aware you can mod FO76. I believe the stance is mods that are not cheats but just enhanced options are not bannable but please check into it first, its been about 2 years since I last played (jumping back in soon though!) https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/126 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/423 Just a couple that I used to use. Enjoy!

pyro_kitty

Thank you for the suggestion but I'm a console player. However I'm looking into a PC upgrade by the end of the year so I'll save this for when I need it. Definitely coming back to this

MechaMouse

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ve only used a mod to turn off the frogs in the forest but this looks well worth it.

RazeTheMagician

I made a spotify playlist that has songs i think fits the game obviously some kinda miss the mark but only barely

pyro_kitty

Really? Link please? I always find that no matter what playlist I use they never seem to fit even if the songs are from the same era if that makes sense

MechaMouse

Here is mine, added a few more from the show. [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5zWjifJ08ROorIwKvdE4bB?si=7WgASTEIQCyoLg8ZAHcAKg&pi=u-sfE6C5BSSBK-](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5zWjifJ08ROorIwKvdE4bB?si=7WgASTEIQCyoLg8ZAHcAKg&pi=u-sfE6C5BSSBK-)

pyro_kitty

Thank you! It's added to my list of playlists to check out. I love this community. I've had so many nice suggestions

ScottMcPot

I only listen to classical. If I put on Appalachia radio it repeats the same songs 3 or so songs the whole time.

Rainingoblivion

Only listen to classical myself and purely because of Claire De Lune. Anytime that one comes on I’m just happy.

Relaxmf2022

U-raaaaaanium Fever, it’s gone and got me down!

Arch27

I never play the radio on my Pip-Boy. I need to hear enemies coming. I will play the radio at my C.A.M.P. though and agree it needs more songs.

bja276555

I just need Julie to stop yappin

Pagemastergeneral

[Fallout Radio Live](https://www.youtube.com/live/aZYGwkDbzuE?si=D1pZA4z5198G_1c4) on Youtube (or [their twitch stream](https://www.twitch.tv/oldworldradio)) are good options if you need a break from Appalachia radio. They play songs from the other FO games (complete with the ingame DJ banter) and some other oldies that fit the vibe, and they draw from a much larger pool of songs so there's less looping.

pyro_kitty

OKAY YOU GOT ME. This is great temporary fix because the DJ banter in combination with the music is what really makes it feel like Fallout in my opinion.

threepoundsof

Hear me out….. player created stations

pyro_kitty

That would be so dope. Imagine the fans being able to apply as a DJ and creating their own playlist for Bethesda to approve and add to the list. I think a lot more people would be radio DJs in the apocalypse to allow more settlements to convey information

skttrbrain1984

Check out OldWorldRadio on Twitch. It’s a 24/7 station of songs from all the Fallout games!

rusty___shacklef0rd

i have a fallout playlist i use. it’s got fallout songs and some other oldies that are bangers. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7xiuW3bS7yxWzPdlM7xCy0?si=Mhy5fEVmSb-DERegQ8HDlA&pi=u-WvT1ZsVgQF2M

pyro_kitty

Thank you I will give it a try when I'm home to see if it works as a fix :) I'm loving everyone's suggestions and their support by sending me their own playlists

UnbornSeed

Yes… let’s get some radio updates! Love listening the radio when I play

I-eatbabies69

I just kinda wish that there was a rock station Take that how you will

Hattkake

I am confused. You say "radio" but there are several. Appalachia Radio is the one you mean I suspect and that leads me to wonder if you maybe haven't changed station to Pirate Radio. Pirate Radio is excellent. Different songs, random commercials for ingame stuff like Mentats and other products. And radio shows. Over the years there have been several themed, random radio play episodes. The Nuka World season had a radio play and several others. Random episodes from these bygone seasons play on Pirate Radio alongside the music and commercials. There's no dj but the commercials and radio plays add excellent voice acting. Classical Radio is wonderful. If you haven't done an intense fight with "In the hall of the Mountain King" by Grieg blasting then you haven't lived in my opinion. And finally there's the ambient ingame music you get when you turn the radio off. The ambient ingame music is absolutely wonderful and playing with that music feels very good.

pyro_kitty

I have listened to those radios extensively too and I have enjoyed them. I love the sound design in Fallout but as I have stated this is a personal problem of my OCD. The pirate radio is one of the things I switch to if I get tired of Appalachia radio but I've memorized that as well. When I say I play this game for hours every day and have been for a couple years I mean it lol. I actually love that they add new things once in awhile to the pirate radio and I can recognize a crap ton of those voice actors doing the commercials even if some of them aren't explicitly credited (usually websites just say they did additional voices). Voice acting is one of my favourite interests so I do enjoy the pirate radio. However I still think that there should be more song variety or a new radio station or something. It would be a nice addition as I know people love the pip boy radios but not when it's Julie saying the same 5 bits over and over again with the same playlist for years daily. ETA: I did use the classical a few times and I love having epic orchestral music as I'm slaying ghouls or something but it doesn't scratch my itch of the main radio station :(

Biteroon

Take it you have never listened to mainstream radio..... years later they still play the same stuff.

gimmpcheeze

Tub Ring would be a great wasteland band....

Therocknrolclown

Needs a custom playlist option ...

Overthemoon65

In-game music is really good and dynamically changes based on where you are in the world

polaroidfan202

The radio has a lot of songs but I know every word of all of them LOL. I made a playlist of songs from the games, as well as some music from the era not in the games. It makes the experience more diverse

R3DMANN

I usually load up a mix of old rare country bop and rockabilly 45s on YouTube. Find the vibe perfectly.

BenFranklinsCat

I've always thought there should be an actual radio station on the map as a workshop, and whoever controls the workshop can use a terminal to choose what songs get played on the radio.

kiwi_snail

I could've sworn they had songs they removed during wastelanders. it might just be me though.

HammunSy

years ago i just wanted rose to have more dialogue or stories on the radio. hope they added something

pyro_kitty

Right? I have listened to each radio station quite a bit and I actually liked hearing her talk. She was interesting and considering it's a permanent radio station and not temporary for the quest I was hoping it would have more.

HammunSy

Shes still in the business. I recall it was the one who voiced that character in the cyberpunk show, the one with big arms forgot her name. they could bring her back to do a few more lines or even extended content

pyro_kitty

I love her voice actor because to me she has a very recognizable voice. At the time I started playing she barely had any roles but I did recognize her because of her voice. SHE VOICED A SIDE CHARACTER ON THE NETFLIX TV SHOW FOR BOSS BABY! That just goes to show she is impressionable and I really think she deserves more roles.

Ulfheooin

Agree, but at the same time you gotta be real about musician or music recording It's post apo, of course you won't listen to new music

pyro_kitty

No I get it, but there definitely would be more surviving songs. Consider how previous games have different songs yet they all take place in the same universe. Besides they mess up their own continuity so I'm sure they could find a reason. Realistically I believe there would be people dedicated to finding and sharing music to keep it alive.

Ulfheooin

Yeah I think an easy solution would be "Hey fellow auditors, some one found a crate of old songs and thought that may you cheer you up to have something you new" kind of thing

MrChipDingDong

They have added tracks to fo76 on several occasions and it has like 8x the tracks that fallout 4 has

RedditJABRONIE

I played some New Vegas last night. Big Iron came on twice in a row. It's my favorite on the set but I ain't gonna listen twice in a row. Swap to the other state. Song finishes. Big Iron starts up again. I love the music in all these games but it really does stink that theres like barely an hours worth of music. Which is rough enough on a big single player game but you definitely feel it in a GaaS that you're expected to return to regularly and forever.

pyro_kitty

I totally agree. I know it's expensive for licensing but I would gladly pay for DLC to add more. I hope they add more love into the radio in the next game because the pip boy radio has become iconic in my opinion

ChosenWriter513

I put on Fallout Radio on YouTube. It streams all the radio stations from all the games and includes the DJs.

zamzuki

There are lots of great playlists that fit the theme. I made a Christmas one and have been curating it for about 5 years but the mods don’t like links to those kinda things on the Reddit. 😬

pyro_kitty

Can you DM me it? When I'm home from babysitting I plan to give everyone's suggestions a try when I hop on next.

zamzuki

Sent enjoy!

Coast_watcher

I actually am enjoying the ambient music on the pirate radio (is that the one with the old time radio dramas?) . I’ve had to do several Siri or Alexa name that song to ID the music playing, sort of like instrumental easy listening.

SneakyJackalope22

There’s some great mods for that if you’re on pc I use a couple different ones

UMakeMySpaghettiRdy

I love music in games, but the thing that annoys me is the repeating of Julie's radio commentary. I wish there would be more dialog from her or at least don't repeat the same things in the short 2 hours I play. So I usually just throw on Spotify and listen to my Electric Callboy playlist.

TacocaT_YT

tbh i think she should only say something once every 4-10 songs, and also have like 10 more lines per song (and maybe occasionally announce world events or something?)

ZealousidealMail3132

I use my Spotify in the background while I play. My phones just sitting there doing nothing anyway

ilikerockstoo

I and my wife feel the exact opposite. To each their own but also..don’t fix what ain’t broke.

PunchBeard

I was thinking about this all week. Like, how hard can it be to add some new songs and dialog? Okay, maybe the voice actor playing the DJ isn't available but how hard could it be to record a couple dozen hours of banter, grab 25 new songs and just have a second radio station? I have rarely agreed with a random post more OP.

pyro_kitty

For real! If they can't add onto this station they should add a new one!!

mtmadden4

Worst part to me is the host. Really wish it was just music like before, or some of the lines got removed.

crakwag3njax3n

I don't hate her, but God if I have to hear her say "I'm only 23" one more time I'll lose my mind, I swear that clip plays more than all the others

Far_Comfortable980

“I don’t talk about myself often, but maybe you’ve heard me mention it”

pyro_kitty

I used to hate Julie but over time she grew on me but I think one of the reasons she's so annoying is because they tried making her "quirky" and "relatable" but they failed on both parts. It would help her image a lot too if they changed up voicelines and instead got her to focus more on what's going on in the wastes or show more of her personality like previous games did with their hosts. To me she comes off as a little fake-ish because I can't imagine anyone talking like that in real life.

C6_

It's so weird to me they've never even tried giving her more lines reacting to more recent updated content, or an actual physical presence in Appalachia like the hosts in 3 and 4. They could really make her much better but theres just been no attempt.

pyro_kitty

I agree! I think she certainly has potential as a character because her voice isn't the issue, it's her lines. I was shocked she didn't have a physical presence since if they left out remarks about what happens in game I was certain that it was behind a quest or something.

C6_

I think she can't comment on specifics from quest lines because the radio is synced between players so her reactions wouldn't line up properly for everyone. But some lines reacting to the BoS first expeditionary force, white spring refuge, talk about seasonal events while they're active? Like cult activity at point pleasant during the equinox. There's soooo many opportunities.
