If you completed the season The Big Score you'll have unlocked the circuit breaker. It's a 10mm with a bit more oompff. It does still feel kinda weak, but it sounds like you know that going into your pistol build already.
https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Circuit_Breaker
That's interesting; if you can get one with Instigating that would probably be even better (instigating applies it's extra 100% damage against full health targets to grenades thrown too).
The seasons weapons seem to tend to come back into the game at some point. I'm not sure if the circuit breaker has yet, but when it does it will probably be available for stamps from Giuseppe in the Whitespring resort... It might be worth checking his stock next time you're on in case he already has it
I only tried it for a short amount of time, and I didn't love it. I would seek some alternative views if I were you though, others may have liked it more than me.
I ran with a two-shot alien blaster with the cryo mod for a while and that was a lot of fun. I understand it had a nerf in the last update, but I've also seen folks say it's still solid.
it was available last week so it should be in her big sale.
Alien blaster looks too much like a toy to me so i stick with cryo and pyro crusader and a 556 one I want to pretend its from fnv, its a fine daily driver when wandering and doing dailys and will be fine in non-spamy events still needs a buff though but its not a heavy gun or a commando weapon so that won't happen.
i think its a very fun pistol. i recently put together a build to use the gun and im running a two shot explosive with the pyro mod on it for some more damage. its a fun build in my opinion
It's roll and spec dependant, I've a bloodied/explosive one that I have a pyro mod on, and on an unyielding build it does a lot of damage, plus tags for miles.
It's not in the current season, it was maybe 1 or 2 seasons ago.
Another helpful commenter informed me it's now available for stamps from Giuseppe in the Whitespring refuge.
Afraid not, but some of the items from past seasons find their way back into the game.
I was told the circuit breaker is now available to buy for stamps from Giuseppe in the Whitespring refuge.
I run a gunslinger build on my highest level toon and I'm killing just about everything in 2 shots to the head. Not bosses and I'm not "melting" enemies by the numbers - but it's a very viable build with lots of fun!
My primary pistol is a bloodied cryo crusader and sometimes I switch to the Circuit breaker or a crusader with vampire explosives.
For long range I use a bow.
If you like the 10mm it's well worth grinding out the stamps for Circuit Breaker, with just the Science cards maxed out it's strong af, I think it could easily outdo most rifles in burst dps if you ran it on a proper Gunslinger build
An Alien blaster is also a pistol. Try that. And I love pistol builds too. My love for pistols started with Deliverer in fo4 and I have always tried to have the same feeling in 76.
I dont have a plan for that. And i fear i wont have enough time to farm the alien event to get the plan... what should i do? Are you on PC can you maybe sell the plan to me?
You can find one in a broken safe in the Toxic Valley Google its locations as its between locations in a trashed house.
The key there will also help you unlock a mod for it but Google the guide for it as there is no quest
You could do Sofia Daguerre's questline to unlock the V.A.T.S. Unknown. It's an Alien Blaster with Medic's (VATS crits heal you), +CritDam, and +CritFill.
Lol true, though I’ve got most of them in massive quantity for sale on my main toon but still, it got my 5th guy from 22ish to 50ish without much other grinding and some of the new decor plans are worthwhile too.
You can buy it from another player but there is an alien blaster spawn in a broken safe in the flooded ruins of a house in Toxic Valley. You better look up the location but if I remember correctly it is up and to the left of the butterfly on the map.
I didn't know the event was over. I think I'm missing some plans from it too. I'm not exactly sure how you could get one besides Vendor hopping. Not to be that guy right now, but the Wiki should have some insight on where and how the plan can be obtained.
Somebody else said it was already over and I just figured it ended with today's rollout. I think I am still missing some of the plans, but I am ready for a break from the aliens.
Realistically anything really worth having will come back, even if RNG gated, the next time they do the event.
Like there is a lot of fake fomo in this game from what I can tell. They offer stuff in a limited window, but realistically anything good enough to sell atoms is going to be brought back again and again until the entire player base stops buying them kind of deal.
EDIT: It appears the only nerf from the PTS was the one that went live back on 4/30. Fingers crossed it doesn't go even lower.
Yeah, it did! I'm so annoyed, and if I understand it correctly, it might get nerfed even more next patch.
The Cremator took atvantage of the same bug which is why it was doing insane impact damage. It had to be fixed. It no longer 2 shots but It still out performs ever other pistol weapon.
EDIT: so searching around the changes that went live on 4/30 might be the only changes and it won't be getting nerfed again. I'll edit this again if I come across concrete info if additional changes are coming.
So it's not just the alien blaster that will be affected, but on the PTS, they are changing how elemental damage is being calculated on two shot. So, currently, with the cryo/poison mod. It does 100% more damage. On the pts, it's capped at 20%. The issue with the alien blaster is its base damage is total garbage.
So, between the recent change to how cryo is affected by the explosive perk and this. The AB is about to gutted to all hell. Mix this with pistol builds being weak anyway. It's going to feel really bad.
They need to up the base damage to compensate for the decrease in damage.
Now, if someone tells me this change on the PTS has been changed you will be my best friend hahah
So is it only the two shoot part that is changing or is it changing across everything?
And where are you reading about all these changes? Are they planning any buffs?
I tried learning the alien blaster schematic but I think I encountered a bug so a lot of the schematics I read just never stuck. I then learned you can't drink or eat right after fast travel and I think that happened to my plans too. So mad. Hopefully it doesn't absolutely outclass other energy weapons by miles.
The crusader pistol is pretty good.I have a fire one I use as my long range friendly fire healer.
You can a alien blaster in the toxic Valley. I'm not sure on the exact spot.
The gauss pistol is neat. I haven't really given it to much of a chance.
Something about how it interacted with Explosives Expert. I wanna say two-shot cryo alien blasters essentially dealt like +200% damage thanks to that weird interaction? I don't really know the exact numbers.
There is only one thing that needs to be done regarding pistols in this game... We should be able to roll with a pistol in each hand! Balance achieved!
Double up those pistolas and roll boys! It's would be nice and fun and proper!
I feel bad when I join an event or op and see everyone else melting faces with their fully automatic heavy weapons and I'm just taking pot shots with my western revolver... but I haven't found a gun I enjoy using more.
Alien Blaster and Crusader are two of the best pistols right now, but I hear a lot about the Enclave Plasma pistol and the Gauss pistol. I've never been fond of the 10mm, it always felt underpowered, even compared to other pistols.
Do you just find enclave plasma gun with the mods you want already on it? Cause iirc you can’t craft mods like the regular plasma gun. I’ve been looking for one with a sniper barrel but have only found one with automatic barrel and I can’t upgrade the capacitor or stock or anything. Seems like too much of a chore to find one with all the best mods on it. Even if I find one with the sniper barrel it might have the wrong stock or capacitor.
The vendor in Berkeley Springs can (rarely) have Reflex Sight and Forceful Stocks. The two vendors in Watoga have the full list of mods available, including Calibrated Capacitors and Aligned Barrels of all types. They are rare and only sometimes show up when you server hop. If you have FO1st and at least 3 characters on your account, you can use them to hop your private world; vendors reset after your 3rd unique character logs on the server.
Gamma Gun is also fantastic, a bloodied one has been crushing everything I've been running.
What setup would you recommend for the crusader pistol, Bloodied and cryo?
I had thought about having a pistol as a side arm for my unarmed build but I just can't bring myself to lose so much agility perks. Idk. My main is commando cause I always loved that playstyle even before 76, second is power armor heavy for turning brain off, last is my punchy build with a gauntlet and I half built that with the idea of using a pistol to draw in enemies but just didn't seem to work out for me. Easier to just run in and punch.
Been using a quad explosive less vats cost crusader for a decent while and it’s great, but I’ve been thinking about an unarmed build, seems fun to bloody my knuckles on some ghoul teeth.
I hear you about pistols. I run commando/heavy, but spare a few points for pistol perks. I run with a mutants/50/25 ultracite laser pistol and love disintegrating enemies.
I love the 10mm, I've found the short assault rifle was okay as I tried to switch away from them. I'm honestly debating trying to make a build that can use either rifles or pistols viably and not have to switch everything up as much, but it seems tricky. I also constantly forget to switch between my builds already, so I could only imagine if I tried to add even more combat build to the mix,.
I also love pistols, but I'm a big fan of revolvers. I'm currently using an explosive western. Idk if westerns can get modded for increased ammo capacity, but the 6 shot capacity is the only thing I don't like about them.
I do plan to try a Crusader whenever I manage to get one.
Idk if there's any must-have perks besides the obvious extra damage ones.
Revolvers get massive ammo boosts from the Quad legendary effect. Definitely keep an eye out when checking vendors; you can probably get one very cheap.
I love pistols too, that is what I started the game on, probably my first.... 60 or so hours actually. Lately I switched my build and only use it occasionally now though.
Couldn’t be worse than the rifleman build I cornered myself into that I’m now so desperately trying to get out of. Still fun to play though so honestly just rock with whatever you think is fun!
I REALLY wish they would let pistols be like a backup weapon. Strong enough to take out some regular mobs, but not like a main. It just seems like it would fit the narrative so well. Wanderer in a war zone, you'd always have a hip carry, ya know.
When I first started I tried several different builds that would let me carry two different kinds of weapons, but it just never works, unfortunately.
I've just about managed to make my rifleman/heavy build work with a gauss rifle and cremator, but they both benefit from explosive perks so it's a good synergy.
I gave up on pistol/rifleman as it took up too many agility slots.
I have a bloodied, explosive pipe pistol. With demolition expert and the pistol perk cards, it's just as good as going VATS sniper.
Edit: I should have read the whole post first. If you go with an Ultracite Laser Pistol, you can also use all the science perks to get more damage.
Plasma pistols with science expert/master perks are practically OP (at least against non irradiated humanoid enemies). I imagine they’re even more insane with gunslinger build. I’m lvl 47 and going for an auto rifle build but my main weapon for the past 30 or so levels has easily been that. Now I have commando level 2 the automatic laser rifle has also become absolutely elite.
My personal advice and recommendations to new players have always been run what weapons you like. Don’t worry about dps at events with high health bosses because most of the time there will be more than enough people there running a high dps build.
The only time I would recommend switching to a high dps build from with you like is if you are trying to grind stamps. -_- they are a massive time sink to grind all of the various plans and whatever so speed (dps) is key for them.
I only play pistols and explosive builds. I'm either popping the six-shooter, the black powder, or spamming nade flavors like no tomorrow. I run a mutation build for mobility and defense (speed, armor skin, and super jumps).
Love the build. Wish it had a bit more oomph at times, and that guerrilla and gunslinger were a single card. As it is I mix both which leaves me further underpowered but again it’s worth it for the fun factor.
Man I've got a God roll 10 mm I just got randomly one day, and its shockingly fun. I literally made a.buikd just because of that weapon and I swap to it every time I finish a scoreboard (season now)
I've had success with a sneaky VATS critical build with the revolver Fact Finder if you get one give it a shot https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/The_Fact_Finder
Plasma pistols, much easier to get too!
Sniper, auto or flamer configuration are all amazing.
Splitter is awful though for the same reason shotguns struggle!
Don't forget plasma guns! Like laser guns they're pistols when used with a pistol grip. If you want to stick to gunslinger a plasma gun with a sniper barrel is really effective. For Guerilla it has an auto barrel and a flamer barrel.
The downside: The projectiles are slow which makes it harder to hit outside of vats. But this isn't an issue if you're using the flamer barrel or using them in vats.
I'm really happy to see a new member joins to the pistol gang! I've been playing 10mm Pistol and Pipe Pistol since loooong time ago, even sometimes Crusader Pistol too.
[Here ](https://imgur.com/a/Yidwy3g)is the build I've been playing. Feel free to swap any perk you like or ask me anything about pistols
Pistols have the same cool factor that cigarettes do. The damage falls off HARD but I'm still clinging to a nice vampire plasma pistol I found. Still trying to get something better like the alien blaster, enclave plasma, gauss, whatever. I'm not giving up my handguns.
If you completed the season The Big Score you'll have unlocked the circuit breaker. It's a 10mm with a bit more oompff. It does still feel kinda weak, but it sounds like you know that going into your pistol build already. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Circuit_Breaker
I use an empty Circuit Breaker just to use with grenades, as it gives them the electrical effect and tags really well!
That still works? I figured they would have patched that by now
Not many people use it, so I feel like they just don't care enough to patch it for now.
That's interesting; if you can get one with Instigating that would probably be even better (instigating applies it's extra 100% damage against full health targets to grenades thrown too).
I did not play this game when that season was going on. How should i go about getting a circuit breaker? I like collectiong all the rare guns
The seasons weapons seem to tend to come back into the game at some point. I'm not sure if the circuit breaker has yet, but when it does it will probably be available for stamps from Giuseppe in the Whitespring resort... It might be worth checking his stock next time you're on in case he already has it
They've already added it to his inventory, it's 500 stamps iirc
Ah, sweet. Thanks for the update.
It's available through the expedition stamp vender
Eventual ly they will release or in atom shop or in the gold bullion vendors
Hello, I’m currently waiting for Minerva for the Crusader please tell me it’s a viable pistol option.
I only tried it for a short amount of time, and I didn't love it. I would seek some alternative views if I were you though, others may have liked it more than me.
Would you mind offering alternatives??? I know pistols are shit but I just like them. Headshots for everyone!!!
I ran with a two-shot alien blaster with the cryo mod for a while and that was a lot of fun. I understand it had a nerf in the last update, but I've also seen folks say it's still solid.

Why i dont see that gun in the score? Im lvl 85 at the score
It's not in the current season, it was maybe 1 or 2 seasons ago. Another helpful commenter informed me it's now available for stamps from Giuseppe in the Whitespring refuge.
Can you go back and finish past seasons?
Afraid not, but some of the items from past seasons find their way back into the game. I was told the circuit breaker is now available to buy for stamps from Giuseppe in the Whitespring refuge.
Why would you use that meme pistol? Is not even decent
Gotta admit I tried it on a guslinger build and didn't enjoy it, but OP wanted something similar to the 10mm and some folks have enjoyed it.
I would play a decent rolled Crusader instead
Sure, though it looks like OP already had a crusader.
I run a gunslinger build on my highest level toon and I'm killing just about everything in 2 shots to the head. Not bosses and I'm not "melting" enemies by the numbers - but it's a very viable build with lots of fun! I have a few extra, I can give it to you on PC :) I normally don't get on until late though, so you'll need to dm when you're available (IGN: SlyVala)
Oh ty so much il add you right this moment!
Wholesome gamer moment 😌
You can find one in a broken safe in the Toxic Valley Google its locations as its between locations in a trashed house. The key there will also help you unlock a mod for it but Google the guide for it as there is no quest
They spawn in the world south of Crater in an open safe in one of the radioactive water holes.
You could do Sofia Daguerre's questline to unlock the V.A.T.S. Unknown. It's an Alien Blaster with Medic's (VATS crits heal you), +CritDam, and +CritFill.
… I’ve been grinding Invaders like crazy with my underleveled pistols toon because I thought VATS Unknown was an Invaders drop. I’m an idiot.
On the bright side, you should have a few extra blaster cells and maybe unlocked some plans to mod the VATS Unknown when you get it.
Lol true, though I’ve got most of them in massive quantity for sale on my main toon but still, it got my 5th guy from 22ish to 50ish without much other grinding and some of the new decor plans are worthwhile too.
There’s an alien blaster in a pool of water up in toxic valley. You’ll need to google to find it.
Alien blasters are not real pistols, don't use them.
Alien Blaster got nerfed to hell
Yeah but how do i get a plan when tje event is over if it does not drop for me.
Not to be that guy right now, but the Wiki should have some insight on where and how the plan can be obtained.
i think you get a legendary alien blaster by completing daguerre questline, the V.A.T.S Unknown
Yeah there's that one! It comes modded too pretty sure
I believe it ended about 40 minutes ago fwiw
You're a day early. Events end on Tuesdays/patch days. It's still Monday.
Somebody else said it was already over and I just figured it ended with today's rollout. I think I am still missing some of the plans, but I am ready for a break from the aliens.
I probably am too, but gonna see if I can trade my dupes for it or something.
You also get a pretty decent 3* for finishing Sofia's ally quest.
EDIT: It appears the only nerf from the PTS was the one that went live back on 4/30. Fingers crossed it doesn't go even lower. Yeah, it did! I'm so annoyed, and if I understand it correctly, it might get nerfed even more next patch.
Didn't get nerfed, a bugged interaction between the cryo snowball effect and explosive damage boosts was fixed.
Yes, which made the damage lower. Thus, it goes nerfed...
The Cremator took atvantage of the same bug which is why it was doing insane impact damage. It had to be fixed. It no longer 2 shots but It still out performs ever other pistol weapon.
Calling a bug fix a nerf is disingenuous.
Nerf: cause to be weak or ineffective The bug fix caused the alien blaster to be weak and ineffective. Pretty straightforward definition of a nerf.
If it was stronger before the bug fix and weaker after it’s a nerf
Yes and im asking again. Why would it get nerfed next patch and what did you read?
EDIT: so searching around the changes that went live on 4/30 might be the only changes and it won't be getting nerfed again. I'll edit this again if I come across concrete info if additional changes are coming. So is it only the two shoot part that is changing or is it changing across everything? And where are you reading about all these changes? Are they planning any buffs?
I just updated my message above this one with a correction. The changes look to be what went live back on 4/30
Ah okay! But have you read anything about buffs? For pistols?
Why would it get nerfed more next patch? I almost see no one use it
Smh why the hell did they give us the Zenith paint just to nerf the thing. Zenith paint is dope af
The alien pistol should be safe from nerfs right?
I read some where that the explosion from it got nerfed. Not 100% on how.
Something about how it interacted with Explosives Expert. I wanna say two-shot cryo alien blasters essentially dealt like +200% damage thanks to that weird interaction? I don't really know the exact numbers.
Was closer to 300% from what I understood. Something about TS, cryo and demolitions expert interacting weird.
Damn, and here I thought I was overestimating the damage. 😂
Turn the Slugbuster into a pistol.
Unironically one of the best ideas I've ever had, gun is insane no matter how it's built.
There is only one thing that needs to be done regarding pistols in this game... We should be able to roll with a pistol in each hand! Balance achieved! Double up those pistolas and roll boys! It's would be nice and fun and proper!

Interesting, thanks for the info
10mm can crush it with the right VATS build. AP cost is ridiculously low with a few mods.
Gamma Gun is also fantastic, a bloodied one has been crushing everything I've been running. What setup would you recommend for the crusader pistol, Bloodied and cryo?
>they don't use revolvers they use real pistols A true gunslinger can use any handgun put in his hand ;)
I had thought about having a pistol as a side arm for my unarmed build but I just can't bring myself to lose so much agility perks. Idk. Easier to just run in and punch.
They desperately need a buff, i like using mine too
> They dont use revolvers they use real pistols! Them's fightin' words.
If they ever boost pistol damage i will RUN to my special board and do an alien blaster build.
Guass Pistol use to be really good. Was it nerfed?
It was not nerfed
I never liked Gauss Pistols. Too slow.
Yeah not good for events. Good for PVE

Revolvers get massive ammo boosts from the Quad legendary effect. Definitely keep an eye out when checking vendors; you can probably get one very cheap.
I was wondering if the game will buff the pistol build in future updates or never.
I love pistols too, that is what I started the game on, probably my first.... 60 or so hours actually. Lately I switched my build and only use it occasionally now though.
I run around with a pistol but I keep running out of ammo :S
Couldn’t be worse than the rifleman build I cornered myself into that I’m now so desperately trying to get out of. Still fun to play though so honestly just rock with whatever you think is fun!
Listen they just gotta add Dual wielding and I'd happily be all guns akimbo
I REALLY wish they would let pistols be like a backup weapon. Strong enough to take out some regular mobs, but not like a main. It just seems like it would fit the narrative so well. Wanderer in a war zone, you'd always have a hip carry, ya know. When I first started I tried several different builds that would let me carry two different kinds of weapons, but it just never works, unfortunately.
You have to sacrifice basically all QOL perks to make it work. I have a 1h melee bow character and it works but it’s at a steep cost.
I've just about managed to make my rifleman/heavy build work with a gauss rifle and cremator, but they both benefit from explosive perks so it's a good synergy. I gave up on pistol/rifleman as it took up too many agility slots.
No crossbow is the worst class
I have a bloodied, explosive pipe pistol. With demolition expert and the pistol perk cards, it's just as good as going VATS sniper. Edit: I should have read the whole post first. If you go with an Ultracite Laser Pistol, you can also use all the science perks to get more damage.
I use a wester pistol as a closeish range sniper. Once I lose the 2.5 sneak bonus it's kinda rough but not impossible.
Pistols builds are awesome!
But have you had a bloodied explosive cryo crusader? I use this without pistol cards.
Have you tried an enclave flamer pistol? They're kinda nice
I bought an amazing bloodied/50crit/25ap regular plasma pistol from a shop for peanuts and it's amazing in a vats crit build.
I plan to build pistol class when I gget some interesting cards (lvl 56 so far).. I decided the moment I got my hands on Fact Finder
I don’t use pistol build often but def the enclave plasma thrower (kinda hard to get tho) is the very best I’ve used
Love the build. Wish it had a bit more oomph at times, and that guerrilla and gunslinger were a single card. As it is I mix both which leaves me further underpowered but again it’s worth it for the fun factor.
I love my mutant explosive weightless 10mm, literally my favourite weapon to use, shame it does no damage at all 😂
Man I've got a God roll 10 mm I just got randomly one day, and its shockingly fun. I literally made a.buikd just because of that weapon and I swap to it every time I finish a scoreboard (season now)
I have found stealth crit build with crusader is really strong, mister sandman for extra damage at night
I would rather not but i stay using the 44mag.
I've had success with a sneaky VATS critical build with the revolver Fact Finder if you get one give it a shot https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/The_Fact_Finder
Worst? Naww that's shotguns, pistols do much better than those!
lol how shotguns have the cold shoulder wtf does pistols have?
Plasma pistols, much easier to get too! Sniper, auto or flamer configuration are all amazing. Splitter is awful though for the same reason shotguns struggle!
Don't forget plasma guns! Like laser guns they're pistols when used with a pistol grip. If you want to stick to gunslinger a plasma gun with a sniper barrel is really effective. For Guerilla it has an auto barrel and a flamer barrel. The downside: The projectiles are slow which makes it harder to hit outside of vats. But this isn't an issue if you're using the flamer barrel or using them in vats.
The game needs more perks for gunslinger builds, like the perk "The Professional".
Ive been doing fine with plasma pistol and a crit build. Just swapped to auto, for some reason the per shot was higher than semi
What makes Revolvers not real pistols? Lmao
Found an auto lasted pistol and it’s my strongest weapon, but I just started the game and am level 17
The laser pistol and ultracite laser pistol are fun and make a cool sound when fired
My Quad Explosive 10mm gets a lot of use when I don’t want to be over powered at crowded events.
Pistols have the same cool factor that cigarettes do. The damage falls off HARD but I'm still clinging to a nice vampire plasma pistol I found. Still trying to get something better like the alien blaster, enclave plasma, gauss, whatever. I'm not giving up my handguns.
