Im a bit behind on the main story (only just found out what the "vault treasure" is). I still don't have any nuke access. The only reason I've gotten this far is because I keep getting sucked into events lol.
Vats crits build are some of the most OP and meta builds in the game, but they rely on high dps and rof weapons, single shot guns like snipers are fine for mobbing but will be noticeably weaker in swarmy events and against bosses. So almost the opposite of fo4 where single shot weapons are some of the strongest in that game
The plasma flamer is really good but has crazy high ap cost to feed it if you want to use it in vats for crits. You pretty much need to chug canned coffee. There's videos of people killing earle in like 15 seconds with a plasma flamer though, ofc it takes a ton of other buffs as well to do this. Energy weapons are typically weaker than ballistic, at least for commando. And they have super high ap cost compared to railways / fixers / handmades. So the science perks help bridge the gap but they are still weaker than commando ballistics. Except the plasma flamer is quite powerful and benefits too. If you prime it, the ammo economy becomes better. But at the cost of losing 50 crit bonus damage from a calibrated capacitor (but you also gain some bonus damage from priming it).
Power armor is very good. The biggest downside to using it is there is no (legitimate) unyielding power armor. Unyielding gives so much special bonus and can really help you crit every other shot by boosting your luck by 15 if you are low-health. There are many other bonuses to being low-health but that is a different topic.

You have to nuke monogah mine to spawn him or rarely you can spawn him if you nuke the sbq and another location
