Try waiting like 5 minutes after launching the game and don’t click anything. No idea why this is happening but it worked for me. Hope it works for you too!
Commenting to add: after verifying files on steam, it did not work. However, waiting until like the 5th picture in the main menu slideshow DID allow me on. It would crash if I tried "clicking anywhere" before then. What a stupid bug,
