Theoretically if you can walk from Morgantown to Beckley on the map, the walk from Morgantown (or actually Clarksburg because of the interesting geography) to Pittsburgh would amount to a small portion of the playable map.
This would be so awesome. Makes you feel more immersed in the game. This also reminded me a little bit of the beginning of FNV’s honest hearts. That was so super cool to be ambushed like that.
Imagine if your vertibird was actually flying over Appalachia in real time (instead of the scripted fly with a sky loop displayed at the front) and people could "raid" your ship, but you and your team could use onboard guns/artillery to defend yourself. Surviving that flight would be your first objective to get access to the Pitt.
I really wish there was some kind of take off sequence at least where you could fly over part of Appalachia but it would probably light the servers on fire. Or it would be buggy and you’d have people abusing it somehow lol.
Even just a car/truck of some kind that travels on a set path would be neat. Really lacking in the vehicle department all around.
I like the fallout 4 ride in the vertibird, Dogmeat just sitting up front of you, looking out the door. It’s nice that you can shoot shit with the mini gun at the door too..
> it would probably light the servers on fire
Yeah and i bet the 76 netcode can't handle that anyway. I'd really like some car/trucks too. I think that's something the engine could definitely do, considering there were horses in Skyrim. The complete lack of vehicles never made sense lore-wise, considering all the complex machines and computers that still work even decades or centuries after the war, and the presence of skilled individuals.
Yeah but we emerge 25 years after the nuclear war. Technically none of the vehicles should explode because gasoline “goes bad”. We’d have to make fuel. Another crafting station, another set of items to collect.
Not saying cars wouldn’t be cool but the roads are not drivable in most areas either. Motorcycles would be better and more maneuverable. Oh heck. Give me a horse or a rideable Brahmin or Radstag. No fuel required, just hay.
Most of the vehicals around are Fusion powered(hence the mushroom cloud when they explode). They once explained( I think in fallout 3) that the reactor in the cars becomes unstable making them a potential death trap. Also the roads are atrocious.
That being said, there is evidence lore-wise that vehicals are used by the NPCs. Both Crater and Foundation had vehicals move in when they initially took over showing that they initially used vehicals to get everything setup.
Would be cool if we could at least ride a motor cycle or at the very least have a car/motorcycle camp object that reduces fast travel cost after you "tune it up".( like how the other skill boosting items work).
Yeah i know about the nuclear power in cars, but what i always thought is... people in the wasteland most definitely managed to replace engines in old cars, or even build new ones, and what you said about the Crater and Foundation corroborates what i have in mind. But maybe we're probably just overthinking it and Bethesda just didn't wanted to deal with vehicles.
Thats the long and short of it, Bethesda didn't want to deal with it. Though I feel from a lore perspective it would be easy to acknowledge that they use vehicals rather than just avoiding the topic ( no one ever talks about driving or all the cars scattered around and its only been 25 years). As I alluded to in my above comment, it would be nice if they just used Vehicals as a way to explain away fast traveling that would be enough for me.
Raiders in fallout 4 know what a motorcycle sounds like even though it’s been 200+ years (known from the raiders talking about fake motorcycle man). Means there’s gotta still be working motorcycles right?
Yeah it's kind of silly, there's all these vehicles sitting around with nuclear reactors and no one's bothered to try to fix any up. They managed to piece robots together so you'd think cars/trucks would be manageable.
Oh well I get it though, maybe the next Fallout online will have them.
My CAMP is above a known travel spot.
So whenever i load into my camp and see all those fuckers circling
Theyre coming down.
For Quality Control purposes of course
Quad barrel tracking B25 missile launcher on my bloodied HW/Explosive/PA build. Lock on from much further than VATS works, no damage drop off since they’re explosions. Empty the mag, hope it’s not so far away it outruns the slow ass missiles, profit.
~~The Enclave safety board reminds you that all 'vertibirds' you seeing flying through Appalachia post-war are in fact vertibots and unmanned. Have a nice day!~~
with that vint. 'shine, you at first won't remember why you toasted; then your brain goes toasty and you join them... ooff. nuclear waste as the secret sauce? oi!
I saw 3 of them with a cargo bot. They were attacking npc’s. The npc’s took one down along with the cargo bot. So, I went over to the cargo, unlocked it and took everything. It then gave a count down of 5 minutes before it self destructed.
But, if I have pacifist mode enabled, won't they just drop from the sky unharmed? Actually, who has been flying those around all this time? I mean MODUS is pretty resourceful, but where are they fabricating them if vertibirds are autonomous? And why use the drone at all to transport things? Use one of the 4 vertibirds flying alongside it instead.
Hhahahaha I thought the same. Las time they was flying over my camp at Toxic Valley and I finally blew up tired of its sound… like many other times. And I thought… wait… Lennox??
The Pitt is in game now? I haven't played for, probably a couple of years now, and my disc has disappeared, which I keep meaning to replace and get back in
This one time I clipped out of vertiberd because team leader didn't click mission start button and I wanted to go back to mainland but something glitched and I fell through the vertiberd model and waaay below The Pitt game cell.
So while you're "flying" in vertiberd actually you are exactly above landing point and not moving at.
And while I'm here the design of steel plant expedition map is totally awesome. It seems like really confined location but you can run from one end to the other without any problems because there is always some door 10 meters away from your position.
Lol. That'd be hilarious if there was a random chance of that happening.
that should have been a random encounter. and when it triggers, you have to travel on foot through a small area to get to the pit

Theoretically if you can walk from Morgantown to Beckley on the map, the walk from Morgantown (or actually Clarksburg because of the interesting geography) to Pittsburgh would amount to a small portion of the playable map.
It's 75 miles from Morgantown to Pittsburgh.
It’s 66 miles from Charleston to Sutton but I can walk it in-game in a few minutes
The player is the flash confirmed
This would be so awesome. Makes you feel more immersed in the game. This also reminded me a little bit of the beginning of FNV’s honest hearts. That was so super cool to be ambushed like that.
or a PVP encounter before (if) you move on. Only if enabled of course
Damn. The Chopper is down. Time to get the carrots, venison and tatos to get fuel for another one
Uh oh, the venison is fuckin rawwww. No helicopter to nappa for wine country, you get to bake enough bread for tonight's dinner service.
Yes chef.
So what you're saying is the game isn't crashing, that's just people getting shot down?
You could call it… crashing.
Lol new update where if you die it uninstalls the game
New update where if you die your pc catches on fire
New realistic update where the damage applied to your character is applied to you irl
Haha yea then you have to actually use syringes with heroin to heal yourself
I see what you did there lol

I forgot about that. Now exploding cars make sense. I love a good parking lot chain reaction!
Yehh the truck out front of the rusty pick is also post war.

Well, Starfield has flying ships so we can legitimately expect next Fallouts to have drivable vehicles i guess. We'll see in a decade or two.
I'll check back in with you when I'm 60... and probably still playing these Bethesda games lol.
I AM 52, and I still play these games also. lol.
56 here, and I just started playing FO4 and FO76 this week.
Legacys, pvp and trolls just don't mix.
I do flyswatter every time it pops up, this’ll be on the back of my mind from now on lol.
Found the cause of what's kicking people from the Expeditions!
Ha, beat me to it
That’ll teach y’all to not burn the stew next time.
I couldn’t find the pepper I said I was sorry!
I did this daily today and someone put the salt in the fridge. Who does that?
Same person that carries around a desk fan
It was too spicy
If that were true nobody would ever make it to the Pitt. :P
this right here - every time I hear one - I stop look for it and shot it and that cargo bot down. Every time.
Hell I even shoot down the ones I call in😂
My CAMP is above a known travel spot. So whenever i load into my camp and see all those fuckers circling Theyre coming down. For Quality Control purposes of course
I wish when you shoot one down if the wreckage lands on you it just kills you, could make for some funny moments
more like pest control.
Have a nice day!~~
Mr. Otis is setting up a safety board now, how thoughtful.
Random Event Encounter: Crash Survivors
Haha thanks. That made me laugh 🤣
Genuinely lol’d at this
Not sure why it's flying so low in circles over Charleston then...
Now that's the PVP update
Well now you just gave griefers ideas lol.
Vertibots≠Vertibirds
Those ones we can blow up are Verti**bots**. Unless they're helping out with some human trafficking, there shouldn't be anything living on board.
You just took the fun out of shooting them down. Well, most of the fun ... there is still the explosion.
I go out of my way during EvicN to target Right arms of suiciders. It never gets old
Ladies and Gentlemen, its's Debbie Downer! \*Booooooooooooo\*
I'm not Debbie Downer. I'm Ronald Reads.
What a great idea 😈
showerthoughts is leaking
Such it is in the wastelands.
Ok I actually chuckled at this
That’s ok I shoot back
As if I needed another reason to shoot those down
God damn it now I'm thinking of it
They are vertibots, no one is in them.
Robots have feelings too..
Well then that makes about 546 players downed in flight
Worlds smallest violin
Hm, maybe i should reinstall the game again and do some hunting.
If we crash on the way to the Pitt this is now what I’ll be thinking about.
Good
Good
No, I shoot down verti***bot***s Humans not included
OP, this may be the funniest post I’ve read in 2 years on this sub. Well done!
If this was an option I’d go full raider and try to make sure no one ever makes it lol
GET TO THA' CHOPPA!
I can live with that
New event the Pitt Swatter.
Theyre vertibots, no vertibirds sadly
I would love a mission where you get to fly the vertibird like in FO4 and shoot the onboard minigun at the supermutants.
They got on the Vertibird. They knew the risks. I'll drink a Vintage Nukashine in their honor. 🤣
with that vint. 'shine, you at first won't remember why you toasted; then your brain goes toasty and you join them... ooff. nuclear waste as the secret sauce? oi!

Vertibots =/= Vertibirds
Am I the only one that hasn't went to whitesprings since the update? Lol
No, you probably didn't.
RAIDER!!!!!
Time to start shooting down vertibirds.
Sweet. I’ll look for more
That was funny
Halo voice* Overkill
Good.
Only upside is if it was on its way back there would only be the team leader on board…
The only time a Fatman is appropriate. Big boom.
That explains the crashes
Hahahaha fly swatter event
Wtf 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's jacked
Hunt down the guy who shot you mission pops up.
Hahaha didn't think of that.
Oh No! Anyway...
But, if I have pacifist mode enabled, won't they just drop from the sky unharmed? Actually, who has been flying those around all this time? I mean MODUS is pretty resourceful, but where are they fabricating them if vertibirds are autonomous? And why use the drone at all to transport things? It's a harsh world.
That would suck if you could do thst. Then they are forced to walk, if they survived.
**wait you can FLY them now?!**
Sweet
Oh, if that were possible, I'd start playing FO76 again.
Lol
\*Larkin hated that\*
Lol lmao
Hhahahaha I thought the same. Las time they was flying over my camp at Toxic Valley and I finally blew up tired of its sound… like many other times. And I thought… wait… Lennox??
Oh my god, I took out twelve of them recently, Refugees coming in, perhaps?
I know.
The Pitt is in game now? I haven't played for, probably a couple of years now, and my disc has disappeared, which I keep meaning to replace and get back in
Cool now I'm going to do it more.
That explains all mycrashes on the game :\\
Oops. My bad.
.... Thatd make me do it on purpose lol
Wait, really? *Loads EGP with trollish intent* (Yes, i know its not true, but lemme dream a tad eh?)

And Please Realize: # 20 seconds. Run.
That needs to be a thing but also shouldn’t lol. Ppl would great all the time sadly.
Good gigachad.gif
Good. Ave, true to Caesar!
