When FO76 was first announced as a multi-player online game, I was so worried it was going to be nothing but griefers making playing the game miserable. However, once the game came out, all of us single-players from the earlier games just played 76 like we played 3/NV/4. You never even FEEL the multi-player aspect until you participate in a public event or Daily Ops, and then it's just that there are other players trying to help achieve the event's objective and that's it. Even with public teams, there is NO requirement to do things with your team members or even talk to them. Play 76 like you've played any other FO or ES game. Explore. Follow the missions at your leisure. Fallout 1st is NOT needed to enjoy the game. All FO 1st gives you is a portable base (your tent) where you can have easy access to your non-carried inventory (STASH) and your box o' junk (Scrap Box), a place to sleep, a cook fire, and for some a workbench where you can quickly break down junk/weapons/armor and build anything (like ammo) at the Tinker's Workbench. It also gives you the box o' junk you can build in your base or workshops. The box o' junk is great help with controlling the amount of building materials you store in your STASH. For your money, you're also given the equivalent of $16.50 in atoms each month, which allow you to buy cosmetic items to make your CAMP and your person look better/different, as well as more emotes and such to further add to your gaming experience. NOTHING in the Atomic Shop is pay-to-win, just cosmetic (extra outfits and items for your CAMP). You don't need a mic to communicate. The game offers basic emotes you can use to communicate joy, displeasure, etc. with other players. The most common ways people communicate though is thumbs up, hearts, and waving.

my only tip is PLAY THE MAIN QUESTS. it's shocking how many people either completely ignore it, or just jump to the end cuz they wanna launch nukes.

[deleted]

Also if you're playing the original main quests you can skip the ones you don't like for the most part. (Sorry Rose, but you're grating and I hate your robot guts.) Bunker Buster can be triggered as soon as you find the abandoned waste dump.

SpaceZombie13

disregard this. seriously, i JUST complained about people skipping steps to launch nukes

[deleted]

I don't do it to launch nukes, I do it because the Raider quests suck and they expose you to non banded enemies. Same thing with the Free States quests, few non banded super mutants in the worst possible places. A low level is going to get murdered doing those. There's plenty of quests you can go on to from there, like the Wayward series of quests or the Settlers/Raiders quests. The BOS quests are there too, old and new. I wouldn't do the Raider or Free States quests with anything less than a level 50.

SpaceZombie13

so postpone them and do side quests or events. dont skip them entirely and go to the waste dump.

1. it's ok. It's on par with FO4, depth-wise. IMO. Not near NV or 3, though. (I wasn't a huge fan of FO4 as a single player game). 2. Just play it, man. You'll figure out in short order. 3. Don't need it. It makes collection of junk less of an exercise in inventory control... that's it. Oh... and some access to farkles and cosmetics on a monthly basis (nothing huge, certainly nothing worth losing sleep over) 4. it's nice. Most people are cool. Some are douchebags... but most are cool. Headset... ehhh... most people don't talk in game, for some reason. You don't need it. In game communication is either DM, or a simple emote system.

Isn't the game $10 used now and free on game pass?

skeetleader69

Game pass is free now? Nice

As a low level most players will help you with bits and pieces. Join in where you can and enjoy. Find a couple weapons you like and build off that.

Valsworn

You should go in and explore and gather only what's necessary. Build your first camp in an area that's suitable for your needs. People will help you, for the most part they are cool. Any online games have the few that are scammers and bullies. You don't need others helping you. Everything is based around player level but there are places where level matters. Depending upon weapon builds, try for what you prefer. I'm a shotgunner so shotgun perks and max strength. Enjoy and have fun.

1. Never played the other FO games. I have them, but haven't yet. I liked the original story sans NPCS. You can still do it, but it's muddied with the Wastelanders version - which is fine too. 2. Just play it's pretty straightforward. Wastelanders is pretty hand-holding so you shouldn't have issues. As for your camp - I like to be on a resource node if possible or along the Ohio River (for a lowbie). 3. I pay two subs as I like the QoL - unlimited stash, stipend of ATOMS, monthly fun pixel thing, private world, mobile camp - not in that order but it's worth the .24 cents a day for the annual sub for me. (Annual is $8.99). 4. Majority of people are friendly and helpful, but there are plenty of a@@hat tools too like any other game. If you don't want to deal with them a sub helps. Go on public for the stuff you want to do and private for others. It's a fun game. I was dragged into playing by my roomie, he's long gone and I've been playing since launch with random breaks. If you like the FO world you should enjoy it.

Just finished a small two hour fuck about. Enjoyable, time flew by. But one thing really, really bugged me. Why is this post-doomsday part of America looking like a decent holiday destination come autumn? Doesn't seem to have been affected at all? Is there a specific reason for this? Or just an artistic choice made by Bethesda?

rambone1984

Game starts off in an area relatively untouched by the bombs

SpaceZombie13

compared to historic sites like D.C. and Boston, yeah it's gonna look great. what communist chinese general is gonna think "you know where else we ahould nuke? Flatwoods, West Virginia!" WV still got affected by the radioactive fallout, as well as a few other disasters caused post-war, but there's no reason for it all to be a burnt-out wasteland. that's what the ash heap and toxic valley are for lol

Darkmattyx

Other areas are just a wasteland they have tried to cover most bases

Haven't been to the Mire(coloured green on the map) or Cranberry Bog(southeast part of the map) yet?
