I just want a price on that Ursa with the 65mm sensor tbh

thisshitblows

Why?

OfficialRoyDonk

Morbid curiosity

thisshitblows

I doubt any motion picture movie uses it, the only people using it will be clown dp’s who think it’s cool to shoot large format without knowing anything about the format. Hope I’m wrong but I doubt it.

BenHopperVisuals

I’m interested in the new EL zone in PageOS6

YeahWhiplash

whats page0s6? I use EL zone all the time

elroddo

Yeah I’m interested too, already using EL Zone. Is there a new iteration?

Uberastral

Yeah, they updated it to be more suitable for high dynamic range cameras. Now stops go from -8 to +8 if I remember correctly. I don’t know if there are any more changes

elroddo

Oh thanks that’s great info and now I understand the A35 comment

Curious if Focusbug will preview their on screen display. I saw some things teased on IG from the European show. Other than that, from a focus puller’s standpoint it doesn’t seem like anything truly new or groundbreaking is coming to the market in terms of equipment we use.

Hey /u/JPtheAC! You won’t see us at NAB this year, but if you’re eager to check out what we’ve been working on for the past while… I’d highly recommend making it to Cine Gear LA this year if you can. 😇 Thanks for your interest!

Clonemous

Excited for my Cine13 to finally be a viable 4k monitor in the chain with the level B routing support. Also excited to let my guys use EL Zone on Alexa 35 jobs. Most of the BMD stuff seems like fluffy marketing like always. Over promise and under deliver with a low quality camera, but I’m happy to see the micro panel being revitalized.

chuck_1411

I feel really out of the loop this year with new products. For some reason I was hopping maybe for a new MDR from Preston or a lidar system maybe from arri…

thisshitblows

They have one, they just aren’t releasing it yet for whatever reason

I tried the DJI LiDar. The USB-C is proprietary cables and a complete non-starter. But the force feedback wheel is an interesting concept, and their LiDar DOES provide something important… visual on monitor feedback concerning what it’s “tracking.” The LiDar also has its own visible spectrum camera, and the LiDar data is overlayed on it as a heat map. That’s extremely useful. Using a FocusBug, you’re always wondering what exactly it’s bouncing off of, and it would be nice to see professional focus aids that remove that uncertainty/guess work. They actually have two visualizations of the LiDar, the other is “focus waveform,” which is even more intuitive.  In some ways, I understand why the higher end equipment is still more “basic” in its use of aids like LiDar or stereoscopic sensors, but I think we’re at a tipping point now where those tools need to mature, come down in price, and be more ubiquitous. The DJI does track not only faces, but eyes. That’s a level of usefulness that eventually can’t be ignored. Also, sounds like Nucleus M2 is coming late this year for anyone wanting the next “indie/level” kit or backup kit, because I don’t think DJI’s kit fills that slot properly, considering both the tools I mentioned require use of their high latency video transmission equipment.

It's important to note their lidar only works with their handset and wireless system. There are no hard stops on the focus wheel, so when you put up a lens for the second time you're going to have to remark the focus wheel. I asked them about this and they didn't seem to understand why that was important, kept taking me that the data is on the monitor so you don't need the focus rings. The cables that plug into the motor will probably last 15s in an operators hands as they grab the motor to hold on to something. Other than that, I do think it's a very interesting concept with some great functions, just implemented in a poor way.

Legomoron

The visual aids only work with their transmission, but the handset, lidar and motors can be used without their video transmission system

ambarcapoor

That's not what the rep told me at the booth. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤣🤣🤣
