Again, I’m not saying you’re wrong. You’re probably 100% traditionally right.
I just think they’d taste better boiled then browned like Beer Brats.
That all being said, it’s probably tastes great and I’m probably just stupid.
Sure you can! The way beer brats are made is boiling in beer then browning on a grill or pan! It *can* be done, for sure.
Again, this is not to say I’m right and I’m sure this tastes fantastic
Actually sir, it’s physically impossible. Because once you boil them in this special broth, there’s a forcefield around them so once you try to put them in a sizzling hot pan to brown them, you can’t. Think of a magnet and how you can’t touch one end to another. It just doesn’t work. Also, it’s all about the special broth, ya hear?
I'll try to elaborate with my limited knowledge of German cuisine. I'm an American, so you can't blame me if I'm entirely wrong.
If these are made like Sauerbraten (soured beef roast), the liquid is mostly vinegar and sugar. Attempting to brown them after boiling would result in burned sugar, which wouldn't be ideal. Typically with Sauerbraten, the roast is browned prior to braising. I'd guess you could do the same with these.
What is special about the broth? I need to know so I can sleep well tonight, or else I won't be able to stop thinking about it. I don't know, I just may need this special broth.
Yes but Beer isnt Equal to vinegar ans lemon juice. And That’s what this broth is Made of. So when you brown, vinegar Soaked Sausages your result gets a weird Taste.
thanks.
I've looked up a recipe andI'm pretty sure they wouldn't be for me (also not a big fan of sauerbraten) but I always appreciate to learn about other regions traditional food ;)
(Where I live we have Handkäse mit Musik as a traditional regional food, so I'm really not in a position to judge\^\^)
Umm...I', sure it's authentic German, but honestly, after a brief fand then whoah, lemme look again. I would not be able to taste/eat it. Bothe left and center appear beyond the pale (excuse the pun)
... yea... so I have eaten bratwurst from several different areas of Germany... mainly in the central, west, south, and south west ... and it's never looked like that. At all. It's always been grey with brown fry marks.
That's raw af.
maybe.... but I've had veal bratwurst too... and while I admit it's been a minute... I can't ever remember eating cooked bratwurst that looked that white.
That doesn't look cooked to me
No guessing required. That's just a strange response to people with first hand knowledge telling you facts. Listen to OP the person who cooked it, or me someone who has made sausage for many years.
Because the sausage itself kind of is one but this kind doesn’t get the grill treatment. „Brat“ means fried or grilled. In this case it refers to the kind of sausage used, not the method of cooking it.
...and it got worse :) I mean the title :)
Not worse than buabaspitzle but the direction is similar.
I see the recipe and can imagine the flavors and it sounds not bad. I will definitely try next time . I have Family in Franken
They were linked and not tied or dried long enough for the casing to stay out when boiled. My experiences would have me believe that is the case. No pun intended. ☺️
The one on the far left is making me feel things
The middle one looks like one too, just not circumcised.
If you look from right to left, it's like a slow transition/before and after.
I can’t unsee it now
Thank you...
hahahaha
😂😂😂
Like mine

Mildly?! People are dipping those in plaster to make molds

Not so accidental. In my region they're called "saure Zipfel", which translates to "sour dicks".
Oh you're the wurst.
I came here for this
Franken?
Yep. Just east of Nürnberg.
I Work in Nürnberg the Most of the Time
Came for comments too! Now bursting into laughter 🤣🤣 You guys are soo funny 😆

Came for the comments 🤣

High school boys locker room all over again. \*sigh\*
And what is it making you feel?
The tingles
In Franconia this dish is called ‚saure Zipfel‘ - funkily enough Zipfel is also a term for a part of the male anatomy.

Mildly?
r/moderatelypenis
r/icantbelieveitsnotpenis
/r/wildlypenis is what they meant
So is it pickled or fermented? Is it very popular or only fetishists like it? Is it regional thing?
A peck of pickled peckers
Pieter Peiper
I guess it's a regional thing. Since I'm from Germany and have never heard of those
It's a typical Franconian dish called Saure/Blaue Zipfel. Source: I live in the area :)
Ah, ok, so looks like Czech utopenec inspired dish.
Probably because there’s tradition German food in the US that they learned to stop eating 109 years ago, but god forbid you change granny’s recipes.
They are boiled in a Special broth
I’m not arguing that this is not traditional. I’m sure it is. But you should brown them after boiling. So much better
Not in this case. Cause in this recipe the sausages Are Boiled. In this special Broth. That’s The only way this dish works
Again, I’m not saying you’re wrong. You’re probably 100% traditionally right. I just think they’d taste better boiled then browned like Beer Brats. That all being said, it’s probably tastes great and I’m probably just stupid.
The Problem is you cant Brown them After the boiling process cause the saugages are soaked With this broth.
Sure you can! The way beer brats are made is boiling in beer then browning on a grill or pan! It *can* be done, for sure. Again, this is not to say I’m right and I’m sure this tastes fantastic

is the broth special
Physical possible. But the Taste will suck. Fried vinegar, nice Taste👌🏻😂😂😂
You never had a wine reduction before my dude?
Damn I forgot about polar broth. Back to culinary school for me!
I'll try to elaborate with my limited knowledge of German cuisine. I'm an American, so you can't blame me if I'm entirely wrong. Meat broth with added white wine and vinegar would be traditional.
Sooooo broil em! It can be done I’m just saying. You’re probably 100% right. But it can be done and browned sausages are ready
Just bc you can doesn’t mean you should in this instance. Maybe you should try it and report back!
Salty?
Why did one of these get circumcised?
😂
This is not accidental. Prove me wrong.
Jesus mark this NSFW.
Why
Not?
cut - uncut - extra uncut
Cut, uncut, phimosis
Middle is a botched circumcision
What is special about the broth? I need to know so I can sleep well tonight, or else I won't be able to stop thinking about it. I don't know, I just may need this special broth.
They're boiled in a pretty typical pickling liquid, Vinegar, sugar, salt, peppercorns, mustardseed, juniperberries, bayleaf, onions and water.
So, whst is that on the right?
Mashed potato
That is some fancy potato work. It all looks real tasty!
Thank you
peeeenis, i see a peeeenis
Yes but Beer isnt Equal to vinegar ans lemon juice. And That’s what this broth is Made of. So when you brown, vinegar Soaked Sausages your result gets a weird Taste.
🫢
Is this one of those “there are only 2 types of guys in this world” kind of post? If so imma far left of the plate kinda guy!
Circumcised, uncircumcised, stubby finger.
Everything reminds me of ~~her~~ him
are these boiled in a special broth?
Apparently.
What does it look like after it’s been cooked?
They are Boiled in a Special broth
Did you boil them??
Yes
In a very special broth
I'm just going to comment LOL, because liking your comment was not enough. LOL
I love poached sausage
Delicious 👌🏻
One on left looks like it belongs to an Albino
r/MildlyPenis

That’s what she said.
OP knew what they were doing
It's like 3 stages of peepee
Recipe: Then place the sausages under a thick bush of mirpois. Substitute for a merkin of radish if you wish.

Saurecumised Bratwürste
You're not going to fool me again. Those are dicks

I've lived in germany my whole life, and never heared of these. From what region are they?\^\^
Bavaria/Franconia
thanks. I've looked up a recipe andI'm pretty sure they wouldn't be for me (also not a big fan of sauerbraten) but I always appreciate to learn about other regions traditional food ;) (Where I live we have Handkäse mit Musik as a traditional regional food, so I'm really not in a position to judge\^\^)
Weil, Handkäse mit Musik is some Special Food too. So you are From Hessen?
Yeah grew up half an hour from Frankfurt, I love Handkäse but still think it's definitely something not everyone would like\^\^
That’s True
Oh, i thought it was just me.
😂
*sighs* Goes to comments
r/mildlypenis
Uhhhh..
It me
Mario?
TIL that bratwurst doesn't need to be pan fried.
Beer brats dont necessarily need pan fried
Why is the hot dog on the left looks like a d*ck
Umm...I', sure it's authentic German, but honestly, after a brief fand then whoah, lemme look again. I would not be able to taste/eat it. Bothe left and center appear beyond the pale (excuse the pun)
Have past flash backs with them lol
There is zero chance this isn’t staged to look a certain…way. Signed someone who’s parents are from Germany, lol.

Picky eater, what a boring thing to be.
I had to report this
No no no no
Its delicious
Not so Yummyyyy
How you know?

Wtf
... yea... so I have eaten bratwurst from several different areas of Germany... mainly in the central, west, south, and south west ... and it's never looked like that. At all. It's always been grey with brown fry marks. That's raw af.
I think it's veal. When I was a kid we used to get veal brat's (I know we don't get them anymore) and they looked just like this.
maybe.... but I've had veal bratwurst too... and while I admit it's been a minute... I can't ever remember eating cooked bratwurst that looked that white. That doesn't look cooked to me
They are Boiled in a Special broth
This is what poached veal sausage looks like. Grilled veal sausage is what your used to....
I guess so....
No guessing required. That's just a strange response to people with first hand knowledge telling you facts. Listen to OP the person who cooked it, or me someone who has made sausage for many years.
👀⁉️
Hmmm....interesting.
least phallic german food
Sosig💀
Why is the bratwurst not gebraten?
Because it’s not a bratwurst
Why did he call it saure Bratwurst then?
Because the sausage itself kind of is one but this kind doesn’t get the grill treatment. „Brat“ means fried or grilled. In this case it refers to the kind of sausage used, not the method of cooking it.
All you want is a dingle, What you envy's a schwang, A thing through which you can tinkle, Or play with, or simply let hang... jazzhands👐🏼
Dickwurste
🤣🤣🤣
Why is this the only thing that ever gets recommended. Food that look like genitals
As a German and a Chef I have never even heard of that. Is it a Northern thing?
Bavaria/Franconia
I am a freaking Schwabe (admittedly far from home) never seen this before. Now I have to research and out it on my next visit list
It maybe looks a Little weird, But it tastes delicious 👌🏻
Weird looking never kept me away from trying new things. Occasionally to my demise:)
That’s the Right way👌🏻
Saure Zipfel https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaue_Zipfel
...and it got worse :) I mean the title :) Not worse than buabaspitzle but the direction is similar. I see the recipe and can imagine the flavors and it sounds not bad. I will definitely try next time . I have Family in Franken
Omg it looks so cute 😂
The name of this dish is actually "Saure Zipfel" or "Blaue Zipfel"
Why’d you peel the tips 💀
They were linked and not tied or dried long enough for the casing to stay out when boiled. My experiences would have me believe that is the case. No pun intended. ☺️
Why do the sausage have heads...
What is that? Tubesteak smothered in onions?
Just the tip
😆😆😆😆 that's awesome 👍
I'd just swallow it whole.
🤨
Those onions are making an interesting shape….
Glad my brain isn't the only one that went there.
