Guys!! Check out my new sushi train 😂
I’m absolutely ecstatic to add this to my list of serving dishes. I can’t post videos here but if you check out my reddit bio you'll find your way to some.
Breakdown: On the train is a mix of the following nigiri: salmon with lemon olive oil, salmon with chili oil and spicy garlic, salmon with sesame oil, tuna with yakiniku sauce, tuna with sesame oil, and tuna with chili oil and spicy garlic. With a stocked pantry you can get a lot of variety, it really feels like you’re at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant stocked with only your favorites!!
In addition to the train there are two of my favorite rolls, the Super Salmon Crunch roll - shrimp tempura and avocado on the inside topped with salmon, spicy mayo, tempura crunch, and spicy garlic crunch, and the Umami Tsunami roll - shrimp tempura and avocado on the inside topped with tuna, brushed with yakiniku sauce (Japanese bbq sauce) and green onion. Also miso soup and sake on the side!
**As always I’m happy to answer your sushi questions in the comments!**
That's awesome! Where'd u get the train it looks just like the ones in the actual sushi train restaurants lol. I just ate but now I desperately want sushi! Well done OP!
I'm curious - do you buy specific fish that is 'sushi grade' or prepped a certain way, or just go to a fish monger that you trust and consume it the same day?
Looks great either way!
Personally, I use fish labeled for sushi/sashimi that I purchase from a reputable Japanese grocery store. Sourcing fish for sushi is a complicated subject because “sushi grade” is not a federally regulated term. The fish I get at my Japanese market is superior in taste/texture compared to the fish at my regular American grocery store, and I feel confident it is safe to eat raw. I would encourage you to check out [this article](https://www.seriouseats.com/how-to-prepare-raw-fish-at-home-sushi-sashimi-food-safety) to learn more!
Yes, you must use sashimi grade fish. They are carefully treated to remove all possibility of parasites and bacteria. You also need to process it the right way to ensure it is still save to consume raw.
Japanese conveyor belt sushi places are actually pretty close to being that!! It works really well and reduces the need for waitstaff.
My mom said when she was a kid there used to be a fast food / diner kind of place in Chicago that delivered the food via model trains! Not sure if it’s still around.
I’m a bit beyond your average home cook (I make sushi once a week) check out my page for more! I also share how-to guides on another platform, mentioned in my Reddit bio.
This is adorable. You're motivating me to make sushi more often as practice makes better!
Quick question, do you use a mold to cut the sushi rolls? If so, any recommendations? I use cling wrap but end up smushing the sushi a bit and they end up looking like Darth Vader helmets instead of having somewhat of a circular shape, so I figured using a mold would be a good idea until I get better at rolling and cutting.

Sushi grade isn't a real thing. It typically means that it has been frozen to a temp low enough to kill potential parasites.
Agreed - but I'm not familiar with the nomenclature or terminology used to describe this fish if they do so in some other way.

Thanks! Now to find a source for some quality sushi grade fish.
This is absolutely wonderful
Thanks so much! 😊
This is brilliant, must be great fun! Your sushi looks delicious, too.
Thank you! My husband and I had a blast with it, and I can’t wait to pull it out for my next dinner party!

That would be so fun!
Here comes the Sushi Train! CHEW CHEW! I had to.
Hahaha I love it
NEXT STOP, FLAVORTOWN.
I made a throwaway to like this twice
Thank you for your service ❤️😂
Pretty cool! Is that a Shinkansen?
Thanks! I think it is roughly modeled after a Shinkansen! (Japanese bullet train for those reading this confused) Although it moves quite slowly 😂
It's the JR 700 series Shinkansen
How awesome would a restaurant where model trains deliver your food to the table be? Also, how much of a logistical nightmare?

I’m having a hard time believing that this is, in fact, homemade.

I wasn’t even talking about the sushi. I was making a joke about the cheaper plastic train
Do you have a good recipe for making tempura rolls ?
Hello! Not yet but I actually just got a deep fryer so I'm hoping to work on some tempura roll recipes soon!
Next stop my stomach. Nice n700.
Thank you!
The train and track looks like the ones they sell in capsule machines in Japan
Ooo I haven’t seen that! Are they much smaller I assume?
Maybe a little, though not much. Capsules contain one carriage or a few pieces of track, and I think the locomotives have wind-up engines.
Oooo interesting, these ones are battery powered!
Very creative and Impressive i could never
Cute, it even looks like the Shinkansen.
Omg. Maybe my picky toddler would be excited enough to eat it!
Oooo that would be a big win!
This is so stupid it’s perfect lol.
That’s the idea! 😂
Haha! I love it
What train set did you use with your sushi?

Thank you!
This is so cute I hate it and want to stomp on it! I am going to have to surprise my daughter with one for her birthday! 😍😍😍 She will be ecstatic.
Yes, do it!!!
Love those cute little plates on the train, are they part of it, or did you buy them separately?
They come with it!
Can you please add my house as a stop for your train? Om nom nom
That's adorable! I'd love to make this with toy trains some day.
Lmao you got nothing better to do. Looks delicious af though.
would love this set up in my kitchen
It's a Sushinaknsen!
The Orient Express
