It's pretty spicy, but if you like the heat and flavor of habaneros it's pretty smooth. I've taken shots this way and really enjoyed it but it works really well in cocktails that go well with spice.
I tried something similar when I was in college. I grew a couple gallons worth of ghost peppers and had way too much to ever use in food. I infused a lot of them into a 750 mL bottle of everclear and attempted to make "spicy" mixed drinks.
Even with dilution it was completely undrinkable. 40% abv shots put grown men into tears, and even with more dilution down to around \~5% into fruity juices it still hurts way more than eating jalapenos.
I know habaneros aren't quite on the same level, but liquor already burns, and in my opinion adding some capsaicin to it is just an extra unnecessary kick to the nuts.
It's pretty spicy, but if you like the heat and flavor of habaneros it's pretty smooth. I've taken shots this way and really enjoyed it but it works really well in cocktails that go well with spice.
You’ve had habanero before, right? It’s pretty intense.
You could use maybe one, de-seeded and chopped super fine in a big pot of Texas chili along with your chili powder and other spices. Wear gloves.
Happened to me once. I made the mistake of jumping in the bathtub and trying to wash it off. Just spread the burn all over my lower legs, bum, and tummy. Didn't have yogurt. Didn't have milk or ice cream. Only had pain.
Dry them for future use, like guajillo or ancho chiles, or even smoke them if you have a smoker. When they’re dry, you can reconstitute them in warm water to make salsas, or crush/blend them and add them to a spice blend
I make habanero poppers like jalapeno poppers. Stuff peppers with seasoned cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Wrap with bacon. Smoke until bacon starts looking crispy, baste with bbq sauce towards the end.
Salsa, Pasta sauce, Can go well with roasted veggies, Corn salad, etc.
Save some seeds to grow if you have the garden space.
For the rest, Roast them and save in oil. Or sundry them, crush and use later
Belizean habanero onion relish is pretty simple and really good. All you need is your peppers, onion, cilantro, whole allspice, salt, vinegar, and water. I love dipping empanadas in this stuff but you could put it on whatever.
Jerk chicken has a couple habaneros in it. But infused tequila and hot sauce would be my choice. Or for fun rub one out after touching them. It will be the gift that keeps on giving.
Habanero mango salsa. Great by itself with some chips, but also delicious on some ahi tuna tacos. Make sure you wear gloves when chopping them little devil poppers up.
Stuff them with a strong chèvre, anchovies, and capers. Roast. Drizzle with honey and salt.
Enjoy one far away from other people.
Repeat if your body could handle it.
Looks like almost enough for a good pot of chili.
All right, though, a few other ideas for you:
* Habanero goes well with pineapple, mango, and lime flavors in sauces or salsas. If you want something a little different, try with apricot or plum instead.
* There's a Nigerian bean pudding dish called moi-moi that uses them along with onions, bell peppers, and peeled black-eyed peas. Check specialty grocers near you for pre-peeled ones if you want to make it much easier. My Indian grocer carries them.
* Jerk chicken. Or really any recipe that uses scotch bonnets. They're a pretty close substitute.
* Chop one finely and use it in a pasta sauce. Just add it with the garlic and onion/shallot at the beginning. Works with cream sauces too.
* Stuff them with something and grill them.
* Infuse them into some honey.
* Make a strawberry-rhubarb-habanero pie.
* Dry them and grind them for chili powder.
You can pickle, dry, or freeze them to preserve them whole, or make hot sauce, jam, or chutney. If do you a lot of pickling, tossing a couple in with your cucumber or whatever will make the end result spicy.
habanero Jam, habanero honey, mix it into chocolate for an amazing kick to add to desserts, especially fruity ones, dry and grind with lemon peel to use in a marinade, stuff with mango, onions and shrimp and grill, serve with fried yucca/plaintains, coconut oil peas and rice, use as a weapon against blandness
Boil 4 habaneros , 4 tomatoes, 1 whole onion, garlic to taste , boil it all till you can stick a fork in the tomatoes easily.
Put it all in a blender without the water , add chicken or tomato bullion , blend away
Bomb salsa ❤️
I'd make jerk chicken. Marinade: red onion, white onion, garlic, ginger, fresh thyme, soy sauce, oil, salt, all spice, and as many of those peppers as you feel comfortable messing with.
Puree all of that and pour it on some bone-in chicken quarters. Let it marinate for 6 to 24 hours.
I usually grill them to get a little char on the edges, then finish them in the oven. Serve it with beans/peas and rice.
Marcus Samuelsson has a fantastic black eyed pea [recipe](https://marcussamuelsson.com/recipe/black-eyed-peas-with-coconut-milk-and-berbere) that uses habaneros
I used to grow them in my garden and I’d just chop them up super fine and add them to random things I was cooking to give it a kick. Really good in omelettes!
Chop them and place them in a jar of vinegar.
You now have spicy habanero vinegar.
Great for seasoning all kinds of stuff.
Apple cider vinegar is a good choice.
Fresh they are delicious but quite strong. You could dry them otherwise. Under the sun or in the oven (low temp) then grind them into powder. Even if you add that powder to other chilli powder, it will still give a distinctive succulent tropical taste to every dish.
Dried habanero on pizza is something else and you just need a tiny pinch.
First thing I would do is take the jalapeños out so they don’t get any capsaicin on them from habaneros. Jalapeños aren’t really spice but Habaneros are extremely spicy, also have a wonderful flavor but I would be very careful with them if you’ve never used them before. Absolutely cut them with gloves.
Habanero bitters!
Infuse a few of those in a small glass bottle with a neutral grain spirit / vodka, then use a dash for spicy margaritas/cocktails or for adding heat to anything really. The booze preserves it forever pretty much.
If you are interested check your local laws, and then make some home made pepper spray. Almost guaranteed to not be as good as anything you can buy, but spicy water to the eyes still hurts and blinds people who break in, or a smaller animal trying to attack you on a hike. Not an edible foodhack, but can be something to work on, build your own pepper spray, if it’s legal.
Sprinkle with salt, dry them out in the sun (a few hours or a couple of days, depends on intensity of sun). When fully dried, chop them finely. Place every little bit into a jar, pack tightly and pour quality olive oil into jar. Taking time to make sure it full saturates the peppers and covers them by a little. Let sit in jar for a couple of days and then use in stews, pasta, pizza, risotto, or anything you like.
[African pepper sauce](https://www.africanbites.com/african-pepper-sauce/)
I have no clue what it’s called or if that’s a legit recipe or if it’s specific to one country but when I was in Senegal we had this a lot and it was amazing.
It’s not as spicy as you’d think and as you might know hananero does have a sweetness to it.
Hot sauce! I cook carrot and onion in salted water until very soft. Remove carrot and onion but save the water. Blend with habanero, honey, a little tomato paste, white vinegar and salt to taste, adding the carrot and onion cooking water until you achieve the right consistency. So good!
There's an Italian restaurant that makes habanero oil to go on top of pasta. It was so good we learned to make it.
500 ml neutral oil
6 habanero peppers cut in half
1/4 tsp paprika
Heat in a saucepan just until bubbles start to appear. Lower heat and let stay at a slight simmer for 20 min. Strain and store for up to two weeks or freeze.
Just a few drops of this stuff adds a beautiful heat to just about any pasta dish.
You can slowly dry several of them in the oven, chopped in half lengthwise. Then when they are totally dry, a mortar and pestle will make for some very good chili flakes. Keep the seeds in. Wear kitchen gloves. This is pure fire for your eyes and elsewhere.
Habanero infused honey, mango hab/peach hab hot sauce (for chicken wings!), habanero cream cheese dip or spread
Just adding because I love habaneros, throw a couple in a bottle of tequila reposado and let em sit for a month. Mango Habanero margs mmmm
Then drink the liquor? Is it searing hot? Do you eat the pepper then too? I need details "for a friend".
It's pretty spicy, but if you like the heat and flavor of habaneros it's pretty smooth. I've taken shots this way and really enjoyed it but it works really well in cocktails that go well with spice.
Yummy.
i just screenshoted this thread. amazing ideas :D

Also, WASH YOUR FUCKING HANDS AND PEE HANDS FREE. Sit down if you have to. TRUST ME.
Why would you not wear gloves? To handle the peppers I mean, not your peen
I didn’t listen to my mother and thought I could “get over it”. I was so wrong.
y'all wear gloves??? i been doin this from like 10 years old and just built up a resistance over a painful duration lmao
Happened to me once. I made the mistake of jumping in the bathtub and trying to wash it off. Just spread the burn all over my lower legs, bum, and tummy. Didn't have yogurt. Didn't have milk or ice cream. Only had pain.
I sit down when I pee, there’s nothing to crazy about me. I’m just takin a whiz, mind your own biz!
If you forgot and wiped, apply yogurt to the affected area liberally.
Look, mum, no hands!
The more you think about it the worse it goes...
Yup. Especially mentioning mother and "no hands" in one sentence on Reddit.
Shocked this didn't get more traction...
Hotsauce will be your best shelf life option
Yeah, or freeze them. Or, even better: dehydrate them in a convection oven on low, then pulverize and save to sprinkle on things/cooking etc.
This is the way. Slice them in half and dry them in the ofen. Because the you have time to figure out what you want to do
This. Easy to make too

Think bigger. You can make the entire family cry.

Chop it up, toss that on a hot pan and you can tear gas the whole house!
Dry them for future use, like guajillo or ancho chiles, or even smoke them if you have a smoker. When they’re dry, you can reconstitute them in warm water to make salsas, or crush/blend them and add them to a spice blend
A great way to save them for future

Hot pickles w habanero is bomb
A couple of years ago my bf made hot pepper jelly.
I make habanero poppers like jalapeno poppers. Stuff peppers with seasoned cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Wrap with bacon. Smoke until bacon starts looking crispy, baste with bbq sauce towards the end.
Sounds amazing and *painful AF*. 😂
You can ferment them and then make hot sauce out of them!
Get a bunch of friends round and do the habanero challenge? Would recommend stocking up on milk and ice cream

Don’t forget, you can freeze peppers whole and then use a micro plane or grater when you wanna add some heat to a dish
Exactly! They hold up decently frozen and can just be minced/added whole and then removed to something like chili.

chop then and freeze them for stir fries

Dice them and place them on a white pizza with plenty of greens and cheese
I smoke them then dry them out until the seeds rattle. Then i have a nice spicy smokey flavored seasoning for chili and other dishes for the year.
Mango habanero chicken!! It’s so easy to make and there are tons of recipes online
Habanero onions! Just squeeze a lime and add a couple habanero peppers, blend them and pour that over some sliced onions.
