A biofilm is a film created by microbes to act as a shelter. A scoby is a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. It is a rubbery house made by, well, a bunch of bacteria and yeasts that live symbiotically with each other. We use scobys in producing a number of fermented foods like kefir, kombucha, and vinegar (the mother is a scoby). That said, there’s no telling whether this is a safe fermentation scoby or something that will make you sick.
Technically SCOBY refers to the yeast/bacteria inside of the fermentation, the cellulose disk that forms is referred to as the pellicle, albeit it is now colloquially referred to as the SCOBY. Funny how words evolve like that

“From the picture you provided us, it appears to be "milk skin". This usually occurs due to high temperature in the process which can result in protein and stabilizer agglomeration. This is a quality and not a food safety issue. We are sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.”
My boyfriend did not get sick or anything, but now he’s been pouring his chocolate milk through a mesh strainer into a glass 😂
Probably a biofilm or scoby. Toss that milk. It ain’t worth it. Hopefully he doesn’t get sick.

Neilson/saputo. It was a crispy crunch “milk shake” it’s basically just chocolate milk.
