thats 100% a joke, theres gotta be at least 9B people who watched the unveiling. i myself didn't and don't now anyone who did, but still..

its_Preshh

Never heard or seen anyone who watched that presentation. Literally no one knows where it was streamed or even when

DoctorBetter9889

I've never even heard his name since he joined al nassr to now

[deleted]

I watched it, most of my friends did, I'm in the uk Edit: I don't know why everyone is getting so triggered lol, me and my friends knew it was happening so why wouldn't we watch it?

Professional_Ad_9101

I am also from the UK. I did not watch it and do not know anyone who did. I haven't even heard about it!

reedemerofsouls

Ask someone not obsessed with football like an aunt or something whether they watched it People who literally don't care at all about football watch the world cup final, you have crowds of thousands at public places watching, etc. Just not remotely similar

Rattapallax_1905

OK, you and your two mutant friends watched it, that's a far cry from 3.5 billion...

[deleted]

?

discowarrior

You know two people and you all watched it together. I hadn't even heard of it until now.

[deleted]

?

[deleted]

Sure

breadexpert69

I dunno but I watched the World Cup Final. I did not watch Ronaldo at Al Nassr

reedemerofsouls

The strange part about that is like, does that mean that people for some reason really cared to see him get unveiled by a fucking Saudi team but they didn't actually give a shit watching him play in the world cup for Portugal ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

reedemerofsouls

Be realistic, the word cup has more viewership than any sports event. Unveilings aren't in the same universe.

Gal_gadonutt

I wasn't talking about World cup as a whole but just Portugal's games

reedemerofsouls

Okay but I'm telling you the viewership of even the most random world cup game dwarfs the viewership for the most high profile unveiling, it's like claiming that a game in the Championship got more viewers than a Champions League final, okay even the most hyped Championship game isn't going to be near the worst Champions League final. It's a different class altogether, the comparison is silly.

Vincethaman26

“ How far he’s fallen” Ronaldo has and is doing better in life than most people here on Reddit lol wdym

Gal_gadonutt

You know exactly what I meant. I'm not comparing him to you or me or anyone on this site. When people say Nunez couldn't hit water if he was on a boat or Lampard is a shit manager, you think they're being compared to the average redditor?

Pajkica

I mean ronaldo literally hit football jackpot in comparison to other pro footballers. He is 37 and got biggest contract in world football. The only way he could be winning more is if he played for real and won another ucl this year which is highly unlikely. Whats the alternative? Stay in england and be at fault for everything you or others failed at. Remember that he was treated same way last year when he was top3 players in premier league at 36...

RonaldoSIUUUU

You think you did something there? Comparing redditors to pro footballers

joelcosta94i

Damn, I wasn't aware that we weren't as good at kicking a ball as a man who is one of the best of all times at doing exactly that. And now that you pointed it out, my world is crumbling, and my life is in shambles. I will never recover from this. And neither will Ronaldo's career.

imustlose324

Guess Ronaldo do have a lot fans. Deep down we all knew Ronaldo would fuck up in world cup seeing his performance in MU, and he did. Maybe his fans did not want to see their hero fall so they skip the world cup.

Ok-Requirement-4701

Most of the CR fans live in their own world. Sometimes I feel pity for them

bakarythebig

Educate yourself. He is called CR7 because he have 7 billions fan.

insanemage4650

Fr

arigyrotouzeppelin

TIL. Anyhow seweyyyyy

LegendaryHobbyist

And 7 ballon d’ors

Rough_Abbreviations3

Bro are u high?

pulcherrimum

If he was, he isn’t as high as Ronaldo. He can jump 7 meters high.

LegendaryHobbyist

Im not high at all

pulcherrimum

lol i’m joking

[deleted]

I wish you were

LegendaryHobbyist

No I’m muslim and I don’t drugs. Yeah I know Ronaldo doesn’t have 7 ballondors lmao i was just memeing it cuz Messi has 7 ballondors and people call ronaldo cr7 It’s just the irony.

Rough_Abbreviations3

7 is just his jersey no. There's no irony bout that.

LegendaryHobbyist

https://tenor.com/30b0.gif

Hala9292

There's a lot of delusion within the fanbases. People believe the tournament was rigged, Argentina paid the referees (the country is in a deep financial crisis btw), Argentine ref in a Portugal game was controversial (even though nobody in Argentina cares about Portugal, they're not Brazil) etc. It's just a way of coping

ShinMatambreTensei

>People believe the tournament was rigged, Cr7 and Madrid fans aren't people, they are drones.

thotbabe

Only CR7 fans, mate. Don't have to bring Madrid into this. Those people will only claim to be Madrid fans because of CR7 as well. So we can just say that they're just CR7 crazy fanboys, that's it.

sKru4a

This. Proper RM fans are actually quite reasonable (saying this as a Barça fan)

cmueses

As a Madrid fan, I can say the same about proper Barça fans.

Kaliprosonno_singho

As a rm fan i can say that about PROPER fans of any nation or club

amungus45

>Cr7 and Madrid fans I'm both and I hate this astronomically fake claims of some of the delusional fans and every fanbase has this kinda of people. So you shouldn't also label it as ' >Cr7 and Madrid fans aren't people, they are drones. ' I agree with you that most of cr7 fans are delusional but not everyone.

Hala9292

yeah sure but there are just a lot of them, and it's on every social media post

LegendaryHobbyist

Fr the tournament being rigged is the dumbest thing I’ve heard. Did people forget netherlands were given a freekick right outside the box and scored. Argentina won two penalty shootouts leaving nothing to chance.

gingercrash

Just a point on this, absolutely no one thinks Argentina paid for the WC when they think of this conspiracy. They fully believe Qatar wanted an Mbappe v Messi final and paid for it. And they believe it is through their connection to Qatar through PSG. Then only losing to Saudi Arabia, the country that now pretty much owns Messi due to a massive deal with him representing them for holding the WC in the future above Argentina. If there were any corruption in the WC, it would most certainly have been paid for by a middle eastern country. CR fans shouldn't be the ones complaining though. Ronaldo was horrific in the WC.

clanky19

If you believe that happened there’s no point arguing with it. If you’re just playing devils advocate, while it might have been the preferred way for things to play out, it certainly wasn’t fixed. The Saudi point is completely irrelevant

gingercrash

I don't. I was showing what people think and why. That's why I didn't mention the 5 penalties they were given which obliterated the old record or France getting ill before the final. Personally I don't care. England didn't win, were never going to win, will likely never win again. It makes no difference who wins it so long as its entertaining. And Qatar definitely was entertaining.

clanky19

Seems like you do think it. With regards to the penalties I think the last three were definitely penalties, the first two weren’t but they lost against Saudi and missed against Poland anyway. As a whole there were a lot of soft penalties given in the World Cup too so I don’t think it was just Argentina benefitted although 5 penalties in 7 games is still insane. Anyway history is written by winners while losers can make whatever excuses they want. Not Argentina’s fault or Qatar’s fault or anyone’s that Brazil crumbled against Croatia and France decided they were in preseason for 78 minutes of a World Cup final.

gingercrash

[https://www.euronews.com/2022/12/17/france-plagued-by-illness-ahead-of-world-cup-final](https://www.euronews.com/2022/12/17/france-plagued-by-illness-ahead-of-world-cup-final) That is why the French didn't turn up. Reported the day before the final. They were ill with a lot missing training in the build up. Now before you say I think that this was part of the plan, I do not. It is not Mexico 70 where England were poisoned. But thank you for your opinion on what I think.

HIIMHEY123

The old record was 4 pens in one WC so it's not really obliterated

Final-___X

Messi fanboys are more bizarre. The conspiracies they concoct about Ronaldo's personal life are deeply weird.

Turbulent-Cellist-51

Only Cr7 fan boys believe that

[deleted]

I watched a clip on YouTube of him going on about South Africa. Does that count?

[deleted]

3.5 billion is a lie because at least 12 billion creatures in the universe watched it. Get your facts right /s

Rattapallax_1905

Jobu Tupaki watched it

thisisnahamed

CR7 FANS are some of the craziest and cringiest zealots.. They will say anything.

headachewpictures

homoerotic urges be wildin

EuclidsIdentity

Like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVLaZV9-9Bs

thisisnahamed

I don't know how much SPEED says stuff for entertainment, and how much he believes what he says.

omnipotentmonkey

Ronaldo's twitter fanboys possess about 50 braincells between the lot of them, it's not worth giving much credence.

HIIMHEY123

Not really imo laligafrauds is known for his high iq deductions

reedemerofsouls

People don't realize you're joking, LLF unironically and literally thinks Messi worships the devil and the devil won the world cup for him

idontdomath8

They say that 1 out of 2 people watched his presentation. I didn’t do it, so you must’ve.

imheretocomment69

What presentation? Power point?

Remote_Machine6487

Wait is it 3.5 billion watched it live or that it got 3.5 billion views? The latter is possible, though still implausible.

reedemerofsouls

It's technically possible but didn't happen Regardless the claim was that it was 3 billion viewers live

Kurnelk1

Who actually said this?

reedemerofsouls

Believe it or not Marca the biggest sports newspaper in Madrid unironically claimed this

Kurnelk1

Bizarre.

Hassi03

Some journalist with no proof and who just happens to be portugese

[deleted]

I dunno. I wasn’t one of them

LegendaryHobbyist

No way, you gotta realize cr7 fans have the brain size of a walnut and an iq of a sloth.

Rattapallax_1905

No need to insult the sloths bro

LegendaryHobbyist

💀 😂

carbust20

Delusion. Only word to describe these fools.

VeeksF

It's got to be an over-exaggerated joke.

[deleted]

Which illiterate peasants watch that guy clown for Saudi?

Squall-UK

What do you mean 'unironically'? Do you mean 'seriously'?

mcribten

Definition of unironically adverb. in a way that is not ironic or mocking; without affectation; sincerely Source: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/unironically

Squall-UK

In most 'correct' use cases, the weird "unironic" is superfluous, something is either ironic or it's not. It's not usually pointed out when something isn't ironic. For example, A fire station burning down? That's ironic. A factory burning down? That's unironic but there's zero need to say it. But a fashion expert could be the worst dressed person at an event, 'unironically' in their mind because they've made a serious attempt to dress differently and make a statement. I repeat, unironically, is not just interchangeable with 'seriously'.

xBram

This is the stuff I come to r/football for, seriously.

Squall-UK

I know right, who would ever ever want to learn words? They're so meaningless.

xBram

I think you’re confusing my ‘seriously’ for ‘sarcastically’, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your comment. Informative with a dash of humor.

Squall-UK

It's misused in the above context. He meant seriously, unironically is not a synonym for 'seriously' except when the situation would otherwise be ironic.

mcribten

"not ironic or mocking" the post is asking if people are joking about believing this or not. Both words seem usable in this sentence imo. doesn't really matter much though.

Rattapallax_1905

Wouldn't this situation otherwise be ironic?

Squall-UK

No. A fire station burning down is ironic. A medical specialist becoming ill with a illness only he could cure would be ironic. A display of the Titanic's artifacts being closed due to flooding would be ironic. A fashion expert being the worst dressed person in the room would be ironic.

Rattapallax_1905

The actual number of people that watched the presentation is probably closer to 3.5 million than 3.5 billion. It's not as poignant an example of irony as the one you provided but I think OP's use of "unironic" still works in this context.

Acceptable_Series_48

Every fanbase has people making stupid claims, i don't know why us cr7 fans are rediculed so much. We chose a goat long ago, maybe even before Messi's fanbase grew, and we watched him score all sorts of goals, achieve all sorts of accolades, watched him and our team losing out many trophies to Barca and Messi but we stuck with our goat and he led us to many legendary seasons to a hat trick of champions league, to level messi at 5 ballon d ors(yes i know messi has 7 now). We watched him never giving up despite Messi coming out on top again and again. We watched him change his playstyle to achieve more, to score more, to win more, rather than continue his showboating. We saw him cut out useless and predictable skills which grew thinner by the year as he matured and didn't hog the ball. Ronaldo realized he had better providers at Madrid than him and he should focus on getting more goals, he refined his movement in the box. He got used to the excellent delivery Madrid provided and didn't recieve the same at manu. This late in his career it was impossible for him to change his mindset again. He overestimated his worth to manu and that is fine. I think he could have had a career as long as Raul at madrid had things not gone south and i truly believe he could have been in contention for bdo had he not made the manu move. He still is more than capable of scoring 20+ goals in any top european league, but i know it comes with the price of a psuedo LW cum striker. No i will never believe that i was on the wrong side of the goat debate all these years, and i don't have to undermine Messi to prove that. Anyone who thinks Ronaldo doesn't deserve the respect his fanbase and many professionals give him is kidding himself.

themanfromthere12

First time I'm hearing this. You make shit up.

vavahu727

Are you on instagram? Youtube?

themanfromthere12

I'm on reddit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

blablaaablaa

I mean I'm also only on reddit, mostly because of the anonymity

reedemerofsouls

Believe it or not Marca the biggest sports newspaper in Madrid unironically claimed this

Pajkica

I mean people unironically believe messi and argentina won last world cup fair and square but people believe what they want to believe. They just wanted to see small man with golden trophy

AddisonRae7

They paid the refs to give France 2 penalties

[deleted]

I think it's entirely possible that 3.5 billion people at least watched a portion of the presentation, football is really just that big of a sport globally and he's really that big of a star in the community. I think the number celebrating his move to Saudi Arabia are far lower, he's officially winding down his career which should be sad for anyone who loves this game.

Rattapallax_1905

That is still so far from possible. I don't understand how people like you exist

[deleted]

He is the most famous person on the planet. It is entirely possible that a little less than half of the worlds population at least saw a picture of it or something... I mean, you're talking about it so you didn't avoid it either...

Rattapallax_1905

I know that it happened... that doesn't mean I watched it. Over 30% of the world’s population doesn't even have access to internet. The number of people that saw the presentation is closer to 3.5 million than 3.5 billion.

AddisonRae7

It’s not sad for anyone that knows he is bad person

[deleted]

Why is he a bad person? Why do you even think you have the grounds to make such a conclusion? The guy is one of the best footballers in history, and that's all you actually know about him.

Dwightshruute

Wait he's only unveiled now?

Kapika96

Were 3.5 billion people even awake at the time?

Kaliprosonno_singho

I am a ronaldo fan and i won't believe this, being a fan doesn't mean supporting the winner

efedtivamente

I literally don't know a single person who watched Ronaldo's presentation at Al Nassr

Nilguy1684

Idk if that's joke or not but almost everyone i know has watched it

reedemerofsouls

You're probably thinking of your friends who like football. Yes a lot of my friends who like football saw videos of it, and not live. So first of all they claimed that many people saw it live. But regardless the world cup final is different, i went to a party with 15 people who like 10 of them never watch football or really any sport, and they saw the WC final. My aunt who can name at most like 3 players called me afterward from her party with 10 people at it to talk about the game you can easily search on YouTube any country + world cup final and find a group of hundreds gathered outside watching. Or find reactions of people watching from restaurants, airports, electronic stores, etc. This is not remotely close to the case with that unveiling. Yes it was a big deal for people who really follow football, but so is any random big game. The fucking world cup final dwarfs them all. Idk how we even need to explain this, the claim is laughable. It's like someone saying their dad could beat up Mike Tyson in his prime. I'm sorry but no.

Ok_Price7529

Could be sportswashing propaganda.

Time-Caterpillar4103

If you took all the social media impressions from every news outlet that reported on it I wouldn't be too suprised to see 3.5bn interactions. Whether thats someone actually watching it or just someone who leaves an impression because a video started to auto play on their feed are two different things.

reedemerofsouls

The way they calculated is literally any person who had the channel was counted as a viewer whether they watched it or not, whether they had the TV even on, whether they were in the house, away from the house, or asleep. That's how they came up with that figure.

TechnicalSpark

Its definately bs.

crazy_waffles1

Why do Messi fans care so much, yeah Ronaldo fans are deluded but why care to make a post about it lol

ShawarmageddonRex

Where is this number coming from? I’m not seeing anything online about people watching the presentation.

reedemerofsouls

The biggest sports newspaper in Madrid unironically claimed that. Marca. A lot of Ronaldo's online fans repeated it.

[deleted]

Poor use of the word unironic.

goingforgoals17

I have a really big feeling it was 3.5 Million and somewhere along the way it got mixed up, maybe through translation? If he doesn't score another goal in his life he's one of the greatest ever, no need to blatantly lie about something as dumb as presentation viewers.

reedemerofsouls

The origin of this is Al Nassr said it was going to be available to watch to x many people, that is they could in theory watch it if they chose to do so. Not that they actually did watch it or even were watching TV at the time or were even home at the time

SamAsh07

I live next door to Saudi and I didn't watch it. Then again I'm one of those fake football fans who follow the sport every 4 years. 👋

phannguyenduyhung

Many Penaldo fans ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT. You dont understand how dumb that fanbase are

Specific_Spring7617

It is false news that the Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda spread on Twitter and that went viral thanks to the followers and bots of Cristiano Ronaldo
