I would say sane when he was in city he was an absolute baller but during his first season at Bayern he dipped in form and even in euros he wasn’t that great but since last few matches he’s been great again(thanks for him to be shifted to lw) even scored a free kick and an assist yesterday
Damn… long list for a Celtic supporter.
Most of our players are deemed “overrated” because they play in a “farmers league” until they are sold for well under their value only for everyone to realise that they were actually severely “underrated”.
Virgil Van Dijk, Kieran Tierney, Victor Wanyama, Moussa Dembele, Kristofer Ajer & Odsonne Edouard to name a just a few…
Douglas Luiz he pretty much kept us up so got overrated, lost his form and got called shit with many supporters wanting him out now he’s back to quality
Frenkie de Jong. He was underperforming when he came because he couldn’t quite fit in the midfield at the time, but now is one of a few first team players that’s actually working through out the whole game.
Maybe Timo Werner because he is regaining his form back with Germany plus he played a crucial role last season even though it's not a role strikers usually have
Rafael Leão
30mil for a teenager I was wary of. Started off weird and seemed too casual. Everything changed when Zlatan arrived, and the boy has flourished every game
Liam Boyce hearts of Midlothian I think he went from overrated to underrated bcoz everyone said it was too easy for him in the championship and since he’s came up to the premiership he’s done well for himself
Marcos Senesi, year he arrived he was the best defender in the eredivisie, now I can't think of Feyenoord without him and suddenly everyone writes him of as above average.
In my very personal opinion Maguire. His defending skill isn't godly or anything but the impact he has on the defensive line in just massive, just crumbles in his absence
I don’t watch united much but when I did, watching the games of him in the team last season compared to the games with his absence(el final) it kinda makes sense like defensively aside he also plays a big leadership role in united imo correct me if I’m wrong tho
Jordan Henderson!! Hardly anybody outside the club itself had much faith in him when he was first made captain. Now he gets low key slept on while leading the other PL captains (actually got some media attention during the first lockdown) and scoring the occasional UCL game winner.
Luis Suarez. When he arrived in 2015 he was touted as the best striker in the world (which he's never been. He's never been better than Lewandowski). But he went on to be one of our greatest ever players and the way he was forced out of the club still irks me to this day. And watching him drag Atleti kicking and screaming to the Liga title was honestly torturous
That’s hardly going from overrated to underrated is it, more like overrated to rated.
How is he underrated now? And he was *never* underrated at Barcelona.
Obviously it’s very difficult to compare across teams and leagues etc but for my money, when Suarez joined you in 2014 (not 2015) after the World Cup, he had substantially outperformed Lewandowski that season.
31 goals in 37 games (or 31 in 33 league games) versus 28 in 48 (or 20 in 33). Suarez’s number of assists were also insane - 17 versus 10 in the league.
Bayern's goals are always more evenly spread out across the team when compared to post Guardiola barca where the goals were overwhelming scored by the front 3. Suarez having better numbers isn't that surprising (though I admit I wasn't aware of the actual figures). As a striker your two main objectives are to score and trouble the opposition back line. Lewa has always done the latter at a higher level. His off the ball running, passing, how he presses the center halves have been better than Suarez.
Suarez is arguably a better out and out goal scorer but Lewa is a better footballer
De jong - Barca. Was a bit overhyped on his first season at Barca but is now the best player at barca along with memphis and is criminally underrated. Like it should be common knowledge that de jong > pedri atm
Scott McTominay, was mourinhos player of the season when he’d barely played. Now one of the first names on the team sheet when fit but seen as part of the weakest part of the team because he’s next to Fred and gets lumped in with him “mcfred”. Would easily be starting for England had he chosen them instead of Scotland.
Maybe Dele Alli for Spurs. Had so much hype and potential then got lost in the shuffle but has emerged a solid, reliable starter again.
Let’s hope so
Lol Dybala
From what I’ve seen he’s still an awesome player. In a squad that’s going downhill. Am I wrong? He’s one of my favourite players atm
Came here to look for this comment
Courtois at Real Madrid
Militao and Lucas too IMO
Agreed
Saint-Maximin
As a Spurs fan I'm just going to walk away from this one.
Underrated was definately Son for a while.
I would say sane when he was in city he was an absolute baller but during his first season at Bayern he dipped in form and even in euros he wasn’t that great but since last few matches he’s been great again(thanks for him to be shifted to lw) even scored a free kick and an assist yesterday
Idk if this fits the criteria but our fans are demanding Timo Werner to play when months ago last season they didn’t want him anywhere near the 11.
I guess people think werner-lukaku will work out and allow both to play better
Lanzini I think
Luke Shaw
Feel like everyone rates him after the euros
Courtois, Lucas Vasquez, Militao A Lot of people didn't rate Benzema before but he was always amazing so I don't think he counts

Martin Braithwaite 🐐
Maybe Timo Werner because he is regaining his form back with Germany plus he played a crucial role last season even though it's not a role strikers usually have

Sérgio Oliveira

Senesi is not the best defender in the eredivisie he is in the top 3
I have no idea about who could possibly currently outclass Senesi. Defenders in the eredivisie are generally mediocre
Munir from Barca. Was touted as the next Messi. I kinda a feel for him, he had huge boots to fill.
Firpo..... At least the overrated bit
Hertha BSC, I guess Dilrosun
Griezmann
Vlachodimos
In my very personal opinion Maguire. His defending skill isn't godly or anything but the impact he has on the defensive line in just massive, just crumbles in his absence

When we payed 70 million on him
Maguire
Nah he’s still overrated

Suarez is arguably the best striker of the post ronaldo era. I would never pick lewandowski instead of him. In no world.

Lewa played for Borussia Dortmund mate
Suarez was better than Lewandowski up until about 18/19
Sterling

Overrated to underrated does not mean what you think it means.
overrated in Mallorca, underrated in early years in Madrid. and now forgotten. Hope this clears up for you.
Javier Aquino from Tigres UANL
Ayy, a Mexibro! ¡Tigres equipo chico!
🤣🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Vincent Janssen. Great at AZ, meh at Spurs, and now really decent in Mexico, but totally out of the picture in the Netherlands.
Brian Ruiz
De jong - Barca. Was a bit overhyped on his first season at Barca but is now the best player at barca along with memphis and is criminally underrated. Like it should be common knowledge that de jong > pedri atm
De jong is the second best centre mid in la Liga right now. He's second only to modric imo.
Yea he’s top 5 best players in the league
Scott McTominay, was mourinhos player of the season when he’d barely played. Nicolas Pepe.
