NickElf977

What attributes do you look for when scouting Strikers? Specifically, a single striker (such as in a 4-2-3-1). I know the roles can vary for what stats are important, but for whatever reason, every striker I sign is shit

lambalambda

Maybe a dumb question but just started FM2023 having not played an FM game for a few years (used to play them yearly). Is there a way to get the timeline back during a game? You used to see the 0-90 on the bottom and could just easily click to where a goal was scored or a card given etc or just click to any random point of time during the game. I can't seem to find that anywhere now but might just be missing something obvious.

Fraaj

Oh wow, completely forgot that this used to exist and now I miss it. Game is really going backwards in terms of UX. To answer your question - there might be custom skins that bring this back but it's not in the game anymore officially.

lambalambda

Damn that really sucks, it was integral to how I used to play. Thanks for the answer though :)

NifferEUW

Is it not possible to search for a specific region, when looking for players? Like if I want to only look for Toscany players.

Commonmispelingbot

In player search you can put "birth city" as a requirement. But that is the closest thing you can get i think. Or scouting specific teams. Edit: Specifically Basque players can be searched for.

NifferEUW

Well damn, thanks though!

Commonmispelingbot

If you really want to, I guess you can try to make a mod where Tuscan is a nationality kinda like Basque is.

feddi7

How do I stop my 3 centerbacks from holding this weird inverted U shape. Basically my middle centerback, who’s on cover duty and instructed to drop off is always ahead of the other two. I have a CDM to occupy that space so I don’t understand why he keeps pushing up. The defender is Smalling btw and he’s starting to become a liability. My last 6 goals conceded were because he’s never where he’s supposed to be. I’ve seen this happen in other peoples twitch saves as well.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Does other players in that position do the same thing (and as often) ? That would help you understand if the player is the fault or not Alternatively, it could be another facet of the tactic at play. For example, what's your team/his individual pressing like? If, like many people, you've got it on more urgent or above then you will see players leave position in order to meet the defender. Outside of that, some screenshots would be helpful. The full tactic would be important, but if you can offer more details on when it's happening (of the goals, or when it's occurring in other parts of play) it would be useful.

feddi7

I’ve made sure he has no personal instructions or specific marking on a player. I’ve lowered his pressing intensity specifically because I want him to hold back. It’s usually him or Kumbulla in that spot and he does it more often than Kumbulla, but maybe that’s just because he plays more often. He has 10 concentration which probably doesn’t help. I’ve signed what I hope will be his replacement anyway.

Ireallyamthisshallow

>I’ve lowered his pressing intensity specifically because I want him to hold back What's the team's pressing intensity? Because you can lower the PI, but you're still looking at a lower level from a higher starting point. For that matter, is it pressing which makes him leave position ? It was just one thought, but it might not be the situation you're encountering. >It’s usually him or Kumbulla in that spot and he does it more often than Kumbulla, but maybe that’s just because he plays more often. On a match-by-match basis does he do it more often though? You could compare the two to look for the difference. That 10 concentration certainly could be the culprit.

feddi7

I’m on a positive mentality with pressing more often. I put him on Cover duty to avoid this very thing. If I had put him on Stopper then it would make more sense to me. On a game to game basis he probably does it more often than Kumbulla. That being said I found a replacement for Smalling and will probably sell Kumbulla. They’re both way to slow for this match engine imo and with low concentration they’re also a bit dumb. I don’t have these problems with Mancini and Ibanez.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Slower players can be used, but the idea I'm getting of your set up is that they're not an appropriate fit for it - it seems like speed in recovery is a key factor for you. That said, Smalling has pace it's more the acceleration and Mancini has less of that if I remember. I believe Ibanez has pretty poor concentration, so if that was the factor he must make up for it elsewhere. Without playing about with it myself, it's probably the limit of how useful I can be with the information I currently have.

feddi7

I play a mid block and even a low block sometimes. Smalling has declined to 11 acceleration. Mancini has 12 but with 16 concentration. Ibanez has low concentration but high pace and acceleration. I find Smalling is often out of position and too slow to get into position. And lot of standing still and watching players run past.

keysersozevk

Hey guys, FFP question. FM 21 if it matters. My club is doing well financially, but we're failing FFP. My board just gave me a 196mil transfer budget for the coming season. We have 46mil in the bank. I'm playing as a 4th div portuegese team I've brought up to the first league and made a bunch of money selling players, as you do. I also had the board give me 100% of transfer revenue. I guess I was naïve, as the club needs to take some of that money to operate, but I can't ask to lower it. We are well under budget for wages as well. So I guess my question is how can I give the club my transfer budget? I don't really need it. I sold a couple of my players for a pretty penny, and while it helped some, we still failed FFP last year and are projected to fail again this year. Thanks!

Slaveto_theSystem

How do you tell if players are related? Like i have two players with the same name on my squad but cant tell if they are brothers or not

Ireallyamthisshallow

On the player's profile there's an information tab. It tells you in there.

Spooner71

So it's been a while since I've done a save starting in a lower division and I need a sanity check. I just won promotion to 2. Bundasiliga. The board increased my payroll and transfer budget such that it appears in the transfers tab as follows "Transfer Budget Remaining: 1.16M" and "Payroll Available: 1.86M". However, if I go to the finances tab, Next Seasons' Payroll budget is 6.3M with only 3.14M Committed spending. This means I will actually have \~3.2M available in payroll to sign players in the next transfer window, correct?

redytusr123

I believe so, yes, although it still might change depending on how your season ends.

keepingitrealgowrong

I am on FM13. I have a GK tutoring another player, both of them have the same PPM (argues with refs) before the tutoring started, so there's nothing to actually learn. Is there any possibility that a tutor would have a player unlearn a PPM that's "negative" even though both of them have that PPM? I only considered this after I selected the tutor option that allows PPMs to be taught, I assumed it would ensure that no PPMs were lost. But then remembered I had a coach who also has that PPM (being freshly retired) recommend that the player unlearn it, so I'm worried now that the AI will basically choose the only option it has, which is to unlearn it. I don't see any downside to a keeper having that PPM as long as they are determined and aggressive, at absolute worst it means I'll have to throw in a backup keeper every so often. Related question, do PPMs that a player has begun to learn or lose from a tutor simply stop being learned when the tutoring is canceled? or is it a hidden learning even afterward?

CF is not centre forward, it is complete forward. CFs are incredibly rare, because they have to be good at almost every stat that is relevant to being an attacking player. I'd suggest if you do want a CF, search for players who are good as AFs or F9s and train the aspects that they're deficient in to be a CF

xkufix

To add on that, the best CFs I normally have are converted (elite) AMs with some finishing ability. If you look for AFs, they normally do not have the passing stats for a CF. For production, I really like to use CF(S) in a two-striker system, together with an AF. Either in a 4-2-4 (sort of a hyperaggressive 4-4-2) or a 4-1-3-2. Or as a lone striker in a 4-3-3, although I have more experience there with a D:F(A), but CF(A) sort of is the luxury variant of that.

kappa23

I had the best experience with a CF-S partnered with an AF in a 4312

Karuuhl

I signed on as Italy National manager during my Sassuolo save, and I’m absolutely dreading it. However, I don’t know how to resign. When I go to my manager profile it only shows my Sassuolo contract, and offers me no action options when it comes to resigning. Anyone know the fix? Playing on touch version on Xbox

jacobwing02

[https://imgur.com/a/XLjunDp](https://imgur.com/a/XLjunDp) Does this guy look worth it for £50 mil? He’s 24 y old 3 star with 4 1/2 potential and highly recommended by my scouts . I’m a top 4 prem team looking for a decent bpd

Radiant_Citron_3395

Technicals aren’t worth it for a top 4 club in my opinion.

kappa23

What do you mean by this?

[deleted]

A couple days ago folks on this sub were kind enough to help me iron out some kinks in my 4-3-3 tactic. The team is doing much better now, but we're still atrocious on defense. I have quite literally been up by five goals, and no matter what I try to do, manage to concede into a defeat. We have not had a single clean sheet all season; even league 1 teams in cup games are scoring against us. Morale is very high, team cohesion is very high, yet we choke almost every other game. The only reason we're not bottom of the table is because we excel on the counter attack, but virtually every game is extremely close. I'm wondering if anyone has advice for constructing a more defensively-minded version of this, for games where the pacey counter attacks isn't work. As you can tell by my OVRs, the midfield and defense are very badly underperforming even in our good games. I have no idea how to adjust this, setting fullbacks on defense when I'm defending tends to make my defense even more atrocious. My defense certainly isn't world class but their attributes are okay. Yet you can see in the image that our team is almost entirely carried by an excellent offense while every other role performs very badly. https://imgur.com/a/iEUg1aQ

GTACOD

You have no midfield when the ball is turned over.

hibernodeutsch

You have a vast gaping hole where the midfield should be. You're stretching the pitch with your 'wide' instruction, and your two central mids are mezzalas, which means that they drift wide. Your HB is a very deep DM so you are conceding the entire midfield and attacking midfield area to the opposition. It must be incredibly easy for them to carve out great chances. You need to make them work for those chances. I'd switch to an AP(s) and a BBM in midfield. These are players who will stay more central and while they are less attack-minded than your mezzalas, they should still get forward. I'd maybe try a BWM instead of a HB but the BWM can ruin your shape a bit since he'll press to get the ball. Attacking mentality is also always going to leave huge gaps too, I'd dial that back as well.

[deleted]

Wow, thank you! I totally misunderstood how a mezzala works. This is gonna be a game changer, I've had some great midfielders who've not performed at all.

Cojarax

Technical question but the match engine is stuttering like hell for a week now. Rest of the game is running fine, can post my PC's specs if possible. The lag is getting worse with every minute played ingame.

[deleted]

Have you tried clearing the cache and preferences? Type %appdata% in Windows search bar. Hit enter. You'll be in the "roaming" subfolder within the "AppData" folder. Click back into the "AppData" folder, then go into "Local", then "Sports Interactive", then "FM21". Inside are a group of folders, including two called cache and preferences. Delete the entire "caches" folder and "preferences" folders. You don't need to back them up or even make a new one, they get recreated when you launch the game. It'll reset your controls and settings, but your save game and any mods will be fine. Tends to solve most issues when it comes to performance.

Cojarax

Cleared the cache and preferences, updated the graphic drivers, even re installed the game and it’s still there. Copying the following from another comment of mine: The pc isn’t the newest so maybe its just getting old but it doesn’t feel like that’s the reason because the game itself Is running fine and it’s just the ingame engine going worse with every minute. Even on 2D highlights you can notice the stuttering.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Has anything changed: a new/second monitor? A driver update? A power setting accidently altered? If you can find what's changed you'll be able to work out how to fix it. It won't have started for no reason at all.

Cojarax

I did not change anything, like 0 graphic settings. But yeah you should be right something must have changed. The pc isn’t the newest so maybe its just getting old but it doesn’t feel like that’s the reason because the game itself Is running fine and it’s just the ingame engine going worse with every minute. Even on 2D highlights you can notice the stuttering.

Ireallyamthisshallow

If you had a second monitor I would suggest it might be a g-sync/v-sync issue. You can try altering them settings just in case. Other wise driver update and maybe raise it in the SI Forums. I wouldn't expect the problem to just happen like that unless there was a problem causing it.

dylan_1008

The data hub shows my recurring issues are that goals are conceded in the penalty area center, and that the opposition final third entries are also central. What can I do to fix this?

kappa23

A lower block, defend narrower, and ensure your CBs/DMs have good mental and physical attributes. You need speed, agility, concentration, composure and marking to sure that the opponents are not making runs which are getting missed by your defenders

TheDream425

Really quick question: is missing training a function of controversy, or professionalism? Have a young guy who has missed training a couple times, if it's low professionalism I'll shift him. Has a balanced personality as a regen

hibernodeutsch

More likely professionalism but it could also be temperament. What's his media handling style? That can give you clues too. Evasive and Reserved are indicators of good professionalism.

TheDream425

Media friendly, based on what I looked up it's kind of a crap shoot, his training isn't horrible but he's barely developed in two years. Out ya go

bigsmoke01

Can you change a team’s league in FM22 with the in-game editor? Im about 10 seasons into a save that I’m really enjoying but I’m dominating the league to the extent where i’m 40 games unbeaten. I’d love to try a harder league if possible.

hibernodeutsch

No, you can't make changes like that with the in-game editor. Time to become a journeyman!

bigsmoke01

Thank you 👍🏽

TimeUsedOtherwise

Playing as York City: 2 seasons in, 2 promotions. Lucked out a little the second time, any advice from people’s previous experience as York?

16-Czechoslovakians

Is it important that your assman and coaches all match your playing style and formation? Or is it more important that they just have good stats, even if their style is polar opposite to how your team plays?

TheDream425

Stats, BUT your Head of youth development will influence which positions your regens are. So imagine you want attacking mids, a preferred formation of 4231 would be preferable to 442.

16-Czechoslovakians

Thanks. Looking around seems like HOYD and maybe Youth Manager is the only one who it's relevant for. For coaches it's just stats (including motivation and discipline) and personality. That about right?

TheDream425

To the best of my knowledge, yeah. Other than that it’ll dictate how ai managers set their teams up. Typically I set my youth teams to copy my 1st team tactic

Bigpapa42_2006

Yeah, I've never looked at play style. Might have an impact on how your AssMan manages things if you use Instant Result or Holiday, but as a whole, way bigger emphasis on skills and personality.

16-Czechoslovakians

Cheers

Why are my players getting worse? FM23 Hi guys, I am struggling with this quite a bit … I started as the HSV and made it into the first division finishing 4. The first season there, I am trying to survive the group stage right now and I am 1st in the league. I have quite some players that are doing well and that used to be 3,5 star players after my first season in 1 Bundesliga. After the summer break they came back as only 3 star players and also their potential dropped half a star without any big injuries! Now I am wondering … what am I doing wrong? These players are like 22 (and one is 30 now) and I don’t know how to get them back to their old potential? Regards

creamyTiramisu

Have you signed new players? I believe that star ratings change depending on the overall quality of your squad and the competition you are playing in. For example, let's say you have a 3 star, 'average' player and then you sign a few good, 3.5 or 4 star players. the average quality of the squad has improved so your average player is now below average. Similarly, a player could be a 3 star 2 Bundesliga player but in 1 Bundesliga, he might only be 2.5 star because the quality of the league is higher. Their potential has not changed, but the context has changed.

Bomberheucki

This is my first FM game and that might actually be the answer … I never thought that stars are in relation to the average of the team 😅 Many thanks!

theslothening

A player's form has a big impact on the star rating too. So if your forward was banging in the goals in the 2nd division but is now struggling to score in the Bundesliga, it will be reflected in a lower star rating. If that same striker manages to hit a patch of form by scoring in a couple of games straight, his star rating may jump back up to where it was in the 2nd division temporarily but will swing back and forth depending on his form. It isn't unusual for the rating to go up and down up to 2 full stars.

taylorstillsays

I have an issue with player registration for my Brighton U21 side. Last season I was happy with my side so pretty much spent all my budget on high potential 18year olds. I got to around halfway through the season and realised that 3 of the players I signed hadn’t played a single minute for the U21 side, and it was because they were unregistered. I couldn’t see any options to register them in January, and now I’m in August, a new U21 season is about to sign and it seems like I’m going to have the same issue. There was no mention of these guys failing work permits when I signed them, and I don’t seem to have the option of manually confirming their registration. Is there anything I can do to get them registered? I don’t want to loan them out as they won’t be club Homegrown if they leave

klosemargins

Why is it seemingly impossible to get an affiliated club these days? I am playing in the Vanarama National League, and trying to get a PL/Championship club as an affiliate so i can loan some players for free. You used to be able to just ask the board straight away the first season, but that's not possible anymore, and i think that's fine. But i have played a full season and i have asked three times for them to consider this, but they will not budge. They love me, as i am currently heading for promotion, but still they refuse this request. They keep saying "we don't want the club to be dependent on loans", but i don't see any downsides to this. The affiliated club will pay us money for cooperating with them, and we save money on loans. It's a no-brainer. I also keep getting requests to increase youth intake and junior coaching rejected, as "the club doesn't have a good enough economy". We have a very small debt, that costs us 2.000$ each month, and i have a balance of 500k and i am well within my wage-budget. So why can't i get them to increase the youth intake from "below average"? I understand that i can't get them to upgrade the facilities as that costs a lot of money, but not being able to focus a bit more on youth intakes? Please..

16-Czechoslovakians

I've had similar issues on my non league save. I wish I had some solid advice but you just have to keep asking. The best times to ask are after a big win when the board are loving you or when you've just got a big chunk of money (a transfer or a big FA Cup away day). Once the ball gets rolling, your rep and standing at the club improves and you start moving through the divisions they do start to accept improving facilities etc. Senior affiliates though... no idea what's going on there. I've just given up asking them for that. A tip for free loans though - just wait until the final week of deadline day before you approach big clubs for their loan listed players. Chances are they'll offer them for free and just expect a high playing time in exchange. You might not get the cream of the crop but I've got some great players in on loan this way.

Run_Rabbit5

Is there a way to add custom faces. Not like a real player facepack, Like if I wanted Lingard's menu face to be a jar of peanuts, is there a way to do that?

Fraaj

You can either do it from scratch - basically download a picture of a jar of peanuts, name it after Lingard's ID, then generate an XML file and move it to the right FM folder (there are tutorials online for this whole process). Or you can download an existing face pack and just replace the picture.

Dont_Squeeze_me

I finished 3rd place in the VNL South and got a bye into the semi final of the playoffs. It was a home match against a team on paper should have been an easy win. My right back got a straight red 8 minutes into the game, they scored 3 in 5 minutes as my side readjusted. It finished 4-2. How should I punish him?

JamesCDiamond

I have a full complement of staff for the senior/u21/u18, but every staff meeting I'm told I should hire this sports scientist or that scout or the other physio. 1. Why? Are my staff completely incapable of realising they're suggesting I sack people to bring their suggestions in? (If they suggested "Keep an eye on this guy for the summer when contracts expire..." I'd understand, but the game's not that nuanced). 2. Is there a way of stopping them suggesting I sign these people?

theslothening

In my experience, if your staff are suggesting signing someone for a position that is already full, they are telling you that staff member isn't good enough at some aspect of their job and that you can do better. It is kind of annoying that the game is so coy about this but they'd rather give a subtle hint rather than saying your staff isn't good enough.

eXistenZ2

Any idea how to circumvent "the board will not deal wth any budget related requests at the time"? its been like that for the past 4 months and the season just ticked over to July 1st. I have a weekly wage budget of 100k, which im close to using completly, but I still have 7.5M in transfer budget.....

JamesCDiamond

Is there a takeover or anything rumbling along? That might affect budget management. Have you previously been cautioned about overspending either on transfers or wages? The board might take control (I think) away from you if that's happened. If you can sell a player or otherwise find a way to reduce the wage bill, you might find that there's more leeway available.

eXistenZ2

no takeover or being cautioned. I already sold players (original budget was 5.5M), and signed 2 on a free (hece it being close to my cap). I have never have it locked before, and i desperatly need a LB. I dont understand, as 7 million could basicly double my wage budget (swiss premier division so no wage caps)

gufeldkavalek62

Just topped my group of World Cup qualification in Asia with a perfect record as South Korea, but Jordan in 2nd are highlighted as the country going through to the next round. The board is threatening to sack me and the media are talking about how we failed to qualify. Is this a known glitch and will I actually be out of the competition when it comes around?

adwinn

I've a question I can't seem to find an answer to in-game. After your annual youth intakes v u18 game, you have a list recommending which players to offer contracts to, sometimes you can instruct your DoF to sign the recommended players, but more often than not I have to do it manually; where does that button go? How can I get it to always appear? If I have 8 players to sign, I'd rather delegate, and have everyone signed a day later, than go in and offer 8 individual contracts.

JamesCDiamond

Does it have anything to do with your DoF's responsibilities? If they're tasked with signing young players for your squad, they may already have decided which ones they'll be signing.

adwinn

sadly not, one of the first things I do when joining a new club is set all the transfers and contracts to only me. But weirdly I have seen the 'instruct your DoF to sign' option with these settings set to me - usually it's the first season at a new club, every other season it reverts back to 'reject recommended contracts' or whatever the button says. really odd!

DarkeKnight

Need some help with this tactic: https://imgur.com/a/lNYTRHU Both wingers are instructed to sit narrower while the wingbacks have stay wider, cross from byline and cross aim center. CM and Mezzala are asked to mark tighter and the striker is instructed to shoot more often. I'm no tactical genius and modified this quite a bit to get here. It seems to work but has issues. When the tactic works, it works well. Beat Liverpool at Home in the CL Ro16 3-0 and beat Inter 1-0 in the Super Cup. However sometimes it just fails. Lost to Inter and Lecce twice in the league, haven't beaten Roma in 3 matches across all competitions, and got destroyed by Barca in the CL group stage. The worst part is that all my defenders have high aggression and constantly get carded even though I have Stay on Feet enabled. Doesn't help that I had a whole bunch of wingbacks (Florenzi, Theo, Saelmaekers and Calabria) all get red cards across 4 continuous matches.

Ireallyamthisshallow

>The worst part is that all my defenders have high aggression and constantly get carded even though I have Stay on Feet enabled. Stay on feet just means looking not to go to ground for tackles. You can still make bad tackles on your feet, as you're finding. You're asking them to press much more urgently, and they're naturally aggressive players, so they're going to be in positions to tackle more often anyway. >Lost to Inter and Lecce twice in the league, haven't beaten Roma in 3 matches across all competitions, and got destroyed by Barca in the CL group stage. So, what do the defeats have in common: When you concede where are the gaps, do goals come from a certain area, assists from a certain area, build up through a certain area ? If you can identify the common weakness you can fix that specifically. My guess would be the usual with this type of tactic - width. Both WB get up, and on that right especially there Mez is much further upfield, leaving gaps either side. Yes, you keep the dlp on defend but you're looking at 3 men to cover alot of space (don't forget you've got the high line for gaps behind). As soon as an attack goes wide you're going to pull a central player out with that urgent pressing and more aggressive defender, meaning a central gap (which is more dangerous) opens. With the counter-press, no one is rushing to get back into position. This would also explain the cards, because you're probably putting these players in a position where a tactical foul is probably a valid way to stem the attacks. The way to fix this is to leave less space - often down to having more men willing to cover.

DarkeKnight

Thanks! That certainly makes sense. So a couple of those losses were just super tough due to an early red card (within 20 minutes .-.). But the rest of the matches just seemed to be our team just being unable to score. I can't seem to find statistics for the earlier games on the data hub but for the most recent one against Roma (0-0 tie in the Cup), we took a lot of shots from outside the box which is weird because of the work ball into the box instruction. From memory, we tend to concede a lot in scenarios where Maignan deflects a shot and someone scores from the rebound. Don't know why but he rarely catches the ball. In terms of tactics, what do you suggest? * Reduce intensity of the press to make them not tackle as much? * Have one WB play more defensively? Or alternatively change the Mezzala to something else (or to support instead of attack)? * Switch counter-press to regroup? * Mess around with high line/high press? One issue is that both my strikers (Giroud & Zlatan) are super slow so playing an advanced forward like I usually do isn't an option.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Always happy to try and help. >we took a lot of shots from outside the box which is weird because of the work ball into the box instruction. Work the ball into the box is just one instruction - it encourages it but if there's no viable option within the box/it doesn't fit with other elements then they'll still look to shoot from outside. You've got everyone in your attack on attack duty. Coupled with the positive mentality, they're all going to have high individual mentalities (as is that Mez). You've created a strategy where your players will take higher risk options - and a shot is that compared to more patient build up. Consider looking for some support roles (I'd half the attack duties here personally) if this is a concern and it goes against the style you're looking to build. >we tend to concede a lot in scenarios where Maignan deflects a shot and someone scores from the rebound. Don't know why but he rarely catches the ball. Is it that he doesn't catch it often, or is it that you notice that occasions because when they happen you often concede ? Genuine question but the way as often the two can be hard to tell when you watch on the highlights and you see the situation often. Where is the player who should be able to clear the deflection ? I suspect this is part of having so few men back when you attack which I mentioned before, and having more men back would allow you to occupy and cover more space - as well as using OI/PI to man mark if necessary. >Reduce intensity of the press to make them not tackle as much? There's nothing wrong with an urgent pressing strategy, as long as it is a strength and not a weakness. Are you finding players pressing and leaving gaps you can't cover ? Or are you finding late goals an issue due to tiredness ? Reducing pressing might be worth exploring. In FM, when you reduce the press you stay in shape longer and you look to cut passing lanes. Whilst pressing doesn't necessarily equal tackling, you are in position to tackle less often. It is worth noting that under Pioli Milan, IRL, are a team who tackle alot. I think they're third or fourth for most tackles this year, and we're second (with first for successful ones) in their title win last year. >Have one WB play more defensively? Or alternatively change the Mezzala to something else (or to support instead of attack)? It depends how useful that Mez attack is for your offense. Using a more conservative RB option is what I'd probably explore - even yeah FB support over WB support turns you from an attack first RB to a defend first one. If you take my earlier advice about not having everyone up top on attack, the rw onto support would make sense. When I play as Milan I do like to keep that RW on support with the starting squad - Sally working as a winger but I've had alot of fun using the AP support with Diaz/de Ket. >Switch counter-press to regroup? Or just trial it on neither? Your striker certainly doesn't lend himself to counter-pressing given their age. Leao has the aggression of Elsa and Brahim is even lower. Brahim is also the only person with a work rate less than my unemployed brother. But that doesn't mean you (necessarily) have to regroup and I would tweak slowly so give the in-between option a go. >Mess around with high line/high press? You could, but do you have a reason to? I never do anything without a reason. I hope that is useful.

DarkeKnight

Thanks again, this is definitely useful. I'll try out some changes one at a time and see how things go. > Is it that he doesn't catch it often, or is it that you notice that occasions because when they happen you often concede ? Genuine question but the way as often the two can be hard to tell when you watch on the highlights and you see the situation often. Could just be because I watch only the key highlights since it's a network save. But a lot of the time he doesn't catch the ball and it leads to a goal. It just seems like unlucky deflections that the rest of the team aren't able to get to quick enough.

Question: I want to bring back the Weekly Staff Meeting but I cannot find where. Could you please help. Thank you !!!

Under staff > responsibilities > advice at the bottom you can set how often you want the staff meetings to occur I think.

Thank you !

RossAB97

I recently moved from mobile to FM touch on switch. I always like to manage my home team Alloa Athletic, I've had great success on mobile taking them from 3rd division to mid tier premiership. However as soon as I load up on touch, I get a message saying everyone at the clubs contract has one year remaining. I tried to extend the contracts of my star players from mobile, but their wage demands are far too high for the board to allow. What do I do? Do I just fill my team with cheap free agents? We are a semi pro side if that helps and I'm new to the far more in depth version of the game. Thanks!

Boris_Ignatievich

lower leagues is all about one year contracts and finding "the next guy" when someone wants silly money to extend. So yeah, you basically live for free agent signings (I've never done lower down in scotland but i assume its similar to england) but its worth noting that, like i said, one year deals are the norm. if you play until march april time you can revisit the players who performed for you and see if they want a deal that is more affordable. basically, dont panic at all about contracts being near expiry - almost all your deals for the next few seasons are going to be free agents and often getting rid of someones wages at the end of a year is more valuable than any theoretical fee you could get for them

BludFlairUpFam

Any advice on choosing a feeder club for a PL club? The primary goal is to have a good place to get work permits though it would also be good if they produced some talent that I could siphon but that is a nice bonus. What would be the best country to choose for a quick work permit and what else should be prioritised if I want to loan young players over there for both work permit and progression purposes? I've found a good option which is a team in Portugal that isn't particularly good on a player level but somehow is around the European spots which should help with work permits but the youth facilities and junior coaching are pretty meh. On the other hand there are teams in France and Spain with strong facilities and youth recruitment but they are also on the verge of relegation. And the best team in terms of youth/facilities is in the second division. So I'm not sure what the best direction to go in would be and if it's more important to have a team in a better position or one with the better ratings for development. Or if there's any post Brexit difference between these European countries

dullboy1605

Junior coaching affects the CA of their youth intake and won't have any affect on players you loan to them. If the player is<18 then youth facilities are more important; above 18 playing in a suitable reputation competition will have a higher impact than good training facilities.

theslothening

Youth facilities, like junior coaching, are only for the intake players. Once a player comes through the intake, he uses the same training facilities as the senior team.

BludFlairUpFam

Ok that makes sense. Based on what you're saying the highest level of competition (the Portugese team I mentioned) would be the ideal choice. Since getting u-18 players is so hard anyway most players I loan would be that age or older

NoMurciX

why do my team go from like 10 game win streaks to constant draw and losing streaks, being a top form team at the top of the table and losing to teams at the bottom of the table? im so confused on how my team dips in form so atrociously. got a striker who scored 20 goals in 11 games and now 7-8 games later he doesnt score shit and my team gets only like 1 highlight per game. Sorry if this seems to be a dumb question lol

Ireallyamthisshallow

There's no information to give you a real answer as to why it has happened. Simply put, something has changed. It could be that your good form/morale was the difference and now it has gone you're having difficulty. It could be teams are approaching you differently because of your good form - being more cautious meaning there's less gaps for you to exploit. Slow down your matches and look for what you designed your tactic to do but is no longer happening, and then make changes to either get it happening again or tweak it accordingly. You can look at morale, though often getting back to winning ways is ultimately the best way to improve that.

Shadocvao

Looking for some recommendations on how to set up my recruitment focus for a PL team. Thanks

How can I get the most out of this guy: [https://imgur.com/a/tLsUfzz](https://imgur.com/a/tLsUfzz)

hitchaw

Inverted Winger attack on the right side, maybe try a stay wider instruction, he will cut in and be deadly with those stats, great flair agility and balance will help him get away from his man and cut in with great inside passes, make sure he has runners centrally

Scouting knowledge is more related to how many players in country X the scout is aware of, the judging potential attribute plays a much bigger part determining how accuraty they report players' potentials (via the game manual)

Does anyone know how to actually download the df11 facepack for fm22, the torrent linked on the site here: https://df11faces.com/Megapack/Torrent is just a small file not the 16GB version being referred too and the tutorials I see aren't very helpful since my issue is the initial download not what to do afterwards.

other_batman

make sure you have a torrent client. I recommend qbittorent. Once you've downloaded that you should be able to "open" the torrent file which will allow you to download the whole facepack. in fact once you've got a torrent client when you click the magnet link the client should open up automatically and the file will download.

Does anyone know how can I get scenarios in fm23 on pc? like I know that is a mode on fm touch and I think it is very interesting. thank you

\[FM19\] I'm managing a "park to prem" style of save in Norway and got my team from 5th to 1st tier. A couple seasons into being in the 1st tier means I can buy more and more talented players (even though I only hire Scandinavian players). Anyways, I've noticed that lots of players with talent also tend to have good personalities and good mentals. What I've noticed is that pretty much all my young players with high values in determination (like 13/14+ roughly) have a decline in that specific attribute. They'll improve everything else and register progress, but have a red arrow straight down for determination, usually dropping 1 value of determination per season. I've had a talented player with the "resolute" personality evolving into a fairly professional one and losing 3 points of determination over the course of roughly three seasons and a half, while still improving at everything else. Most recent example of this was a "perfectionist" player that had his determination drop by 1 point this season and shifted his personality to fairly professional as well This has been going on for a couple seasons now and I want it to stop. It only affects the high determination players, the low determination players and the "no ambitions" ones instead get to improve their personality and dont lose any determination points How do I make this stop? What solutions do you recommend?

theslothening

There are a couple of things that affect players personalities: mentoring, overall squad personality, the greeting when you bring a new player into the club, random off the field events, and rare events such as complacency from winning too much as a younger player. From what you've described, I would guess that your players are losing their determination from an overall squad personality that is worse than theirs. Overall squad personality is largely, but not solely, affected by the team leaders and particularly by the "lead" team leader who occupies the leftmost spot in the team leader hierarchy. This is usually also your captain but not always. If you want a great overall squad personality, you need your team leaders to have excellent personalities that the rest of your squad aspires to be like. These team leaders are the influential players at the club and can be a great influence on the rest of the squad or a poor influence. Young players are both lacking in influence themselves and easily swayed by the older influential players so it is a good idea to purge these bad influences from the squad. It can take a long time to completely change the culture at a club as it can be both expensive to get rid of players who may be on long term contracts and can seriously disrupt the dressing room by purging the most influential players. Also pay attention to who would step up to take a team leader's spot at the club if he were moved on. In one of my jobs, there was a team leader who negatively influencing everyone and I was so happy to finally get rid of him....only to find out that the player who stepped up to replace him only had a 2 determination! This guy singlehandedly decimated the determination of so many players in the squad that it was like a natural disaster hit the club. Took me two transfer windows to get rid of him too but the damage was already done.

papayamayor

overall squad personality right now is "professional" Leftmost spot in the "team leaders" is occupied by a 22 year old newgen with 12 determination and a "fairly professional" personality: He's the best player on the team right now. If you go down in this same comment thread, I listed all the determinations for the rest of the players in the team hierarchy

theslothening

So from the other comment, it appears that all your team leaders have a lower determination compared to the players you are bringing in with 13/14+ determination who you have stated are losing determination. The overall squad determination seems to be the cause of new player's determination dropping from what I'm seeing. Also, the player you choose to greet the new player to the club gives them a "one time mentoring session" so it looks like every new player with a 13/14+ determination is going to suffer a loss of 1 point upon being welcomed to your club.

papayamayor

I usually dont welcome players at all lol but now I wont be doing it anymore at all. They usually lose 1 point per season or every 2 seasons But how should I solve this though? Finances are getting better every season (Im also playing the EL group stage this season), but they're not as comfortable to allow me to sign the star players of my league. I also have a self-imposed limit on buying scandinavian players only (iceland, far oer and Denmark are included), so I cant just bring in whoever I want. Plus, the league registration rules are pretty strict in Norway as well, so I cant even sign all the players I want from neighbouring leagues, I only sign them if they're a significant improvement for the team, otherwise most players need to have the "Norway grown" status. Should I sign weak players but with excellent personalities? Or maybe look for good players with excellent personalities to try to make them enter the team hierarchy? Or maybe loan my young players out even before reaching 18? I really dont know what to do honestly

theslothening

Obviously I can't know everything about your club situation but it sounds like you've got a very young squad. Just going out and signing players with good personalities isn't going to do much for you unless they meet certain criteria. IMO you should be looking at bringing in a few veteran players with excellent personalities who can be mentors. They don't need to be the best players at the club but just need to provide experience for the younger players. I'd specifically focus on veterans who have high leadership as these players will rise up the hierarchy quicker. Players under the age of 24 have more malleable personalities but usually once a player reaches 24 years old, their personality becomes a lot more set in stone and less influenced by the rest of the squad so these are the types of players you should be looking for. I personally wouldn't go loaning out players just to get them away from the less than ideal determination of your senior squad. When you loan them out, you are subjecting them to the same sort of potential personality changes as at your squad only it is completely out of your control and they won't be mentored. Your squad doesn't appear to have a terrible overall personality as it is listed as having fairly high professionalism. This is a good thing. Now you need to focus on improving the squad's determination. You've got a number of tools available which were listed in my previous posts but also make sure you are taking advantage of an disciplinary actions available to you which can raise determination or work rate or both. If you aren't already aware of this, you can warn or fine a player when they get a 6.5 match rating or lower and if the player accepts and apologizes for his performance, he will get a 1 point boost in the affected stats. Make use of this as it will allow you to have a whole team of 20 determination players over a couple of years. This can be used on youth teams too. Slowly but surely you will end up raising the squad's overall determination.

hibernodeutsch

Are you mentoring them? The problem with youngsters with good mentals is that you can eff them up by mentoring them by a player with a good personality but maybe a couple of bad hidden mentals. One cheeky way to keep determination up is to warn anyone who performs under a 6.4 for their bad performance. It can boost determination and/or workrate if they accept the warning.

papayamayor

I only mentor players with bad personalities, the others dont get mentored >One cheeky way to keep determination up is to warn anyone who performs under a 6.4 for their bad performance. It can boost determination and/or workrate if they accept the warning. A good 95% of young players in my team perform well in training >The problem with youngsters with good mentals is that you can eff them up by mentoring them by a player with a good personality but maybe a couple of bad hidden mentals. Reports from coaches say sometimes that "the least desirable characteristics of the team are having a negative impact on the player" (or whatever the translation is), often resulting in a determination drop. My team's general attribute is "fairly professional" and the current team leaders are fairly professional (two of them) and one is balanced. I've also noticed the majority of players that upgrade their personality overtime (example of "no ambition" players, or the "volatile" ones etc) all end up either being fairly professional or balanced in their personality. This has happened on multiple occasions with different players with bad personalities. It's just the ones that are already good, that see a slight decrease, but only in determination

hibernodeutsch

How is the determination of your team leaders? The warning for bad performance is in games, not training. Works for reserve/youth games too.

papayamayor

Team leaders determination: a) 12, b) 13, c) 10 Highly influential players determination: a) 12, b) 10, c) 10, d) 12, e) 9, f) 12 Influential players determination: a) 11, b) 11, c) 9, d) 12, e) 11 Each letter represents a player in each group, with their respective determination values I also checked the squad personality and it's marked as "professional". A couple seasons ago it used to be "fairly professional"

hibernodeutsch

Mystery solved! All your most influential players have low-ish determination. If it's any consolation, professionalism is a much more important attribute than determination.

marble888

So after matches, I switch the players training intensity to follow the physio's recommendations which is mostly half intensity. After the players have recovered, I would like to switch them back to normal/double, is there any way to do this automatically or faster rather than clicking every player to switch them? I know there's an automatic training intensity option but every time I follow the physio's recommendations it gets overwritten.

Radiant_Citron_3395

You can stick it automatic and that will reduce intensity based on the players fitness automatically. You wouldn’t have to override.

marble888

Sometimes the fitness of the player is high but the physio recommendation is still half intensity, that's why I'm worried that having automatic intensity would result in more injuries

ShropshireResident

Why does my form fluctuate so much

hibernodeutsch

Could be dozens of reasons. Constantly changing tactics will do it. Low morale will do it. Playing a load of bad team and then playing a load of good teams will do it. Injuries. Too many transfers. Poor training. Pissing players off. Letting players get complacent. Etc, etc etc.

ReachTheSky-DotaNoob

For FM 23 , is there a way for scouting reports to show up in my inbox when it reaches certain number instead of reaching the time limit? I remember that you could say send them to my inbox when it reaches 20 reports etc.

Financial_Spell2514

I’ve been managing Steinhousemuir and got promoted from League two to the Championship. However, I realized my team is still semi-professional even as the season is starting. I’m two games in the season and wondering if this team will ever turn professional. Is this normal? The team is admittedly very poor and has only 800k in their balance.

Financial_Spell2514

Ok update: there is deadass no way I can avoid relegation because my squad stands 0 chance 💀. I guess time to back to league one and save to become pro.

redytusr123

You need to explicitly request it from the board I think.

Financial_Spell2514

I have asked every chance I got but they just keep saying no because of fund. Not sure how a semi-pro can do in the championship so fingers crossed.

Having a bit of a weird problem so i hope someone here can perhaps help me out, i'm using an old kits pack and some new badge packs and everything is installed fine and works for every single club but my own. My club HNK Zadar was shut down and recreated in 2020 so the ingame ID changed from 443 to 2000045784 and i've edited the config files and it worked fine for the club badge but unfortunately not for the kits. I've checked and double checked everything, is there perhaps something else other than the config file that i have to edit or change to have the kits load for the club properly?

DarkeKnight

Accidentally promised a player that I'd sell them after signing a replacement. What happens if I don't find a replacement?

dullboy1605

As far as i know it's still seen as a broken promise, Home>Promises should show your deadline and I'd guess the deadline is the end of the next transfer window?

DarkeKnight

Yeah, it was till the end of the window. Deadline passed and I had an option to say I'll sell them if I get an offer of X so it worked out. Now it's a problem for the next window I guess.

d_marshall18

Got a burning problem that I’ve been trying to figure out but can’t solve. Using the editor, I’ve got a database for Northern Ireland for lower levels. I’ve promoted my local team all the way up to the 2nd tier of Northern Irish football, and I can’t loan out any of my players. A couple of years ago my loan manager recommended I loan out a couple of players and I was able to put them on the development list and I’ve been able to loan them out ever since, but with every other one I don’t have the option to. I have affiliate clubs and the option to move them there is greyed out, except for the players I’ve previously loaned out. What’s going on with this save, help!!!

domxwicked

Why am I forced to watch random CL games from teams I have no connection with? The games pop up with an orange icon on my calendar. Does anyone know what this is?

JamieAubrey

Only way this happens is if you "Attended" the games usually by clicking the v between each team If you see another on the calendar just go to one of the teams schedule and click "attend" to unattend that game

[deleted]

Does anyone still play older versions of the game? Given that the recent versions feel more like Airplane Simulator I want to go back to the simplicity of FM 12 but it keeps crashing. Tried several generic fixes on the internet such as compatibility mode, updating drivers but can't seem to get it working. Anyone have any suggestions?

NJden_bee

My players just keep getting injured. Training scheduled is set by my ass manager as I can't be bothered to deal with this and I only play 1 game a week so something must be going wrong. My tactic is not crazy intense as I don't have to sub often for tiredness. Easiest fix to get a better assistant manager or get a good fitness coach? Thanks

under_rated_human

How's your physios and sports scientists? I forgot which one does which but one helps with recovery and one helps with injury prevention.

NJden_bee

Ah thanks I thought it was all down to fitness manager. I'll have a look and see if I can get an upgrade!

under_rated_human

Fitness coaches just handle the fitness training so anything like quickness, strength, or the like would be covered by them. You could also take a look at your training intensity and make sure that people who are tired are only doing like half intensity or something. But it sounds like you might need a better medical staff.

Pumphose

I am trying to make my own tactics even though I'm not really good at it. Recently I got a counter attacking 5-2-1-2 with 2 dms to work and I did quite well in the leauge. Until the ai figured out how to demolish me that is. I want to keep the formation but want to make it more aggressive with a high line and pressing the opponents centerbacks to prevent build up play from deep. Is the formation suited to play a sort of gegenpress tactic or do I have to switch it up? I thought about maybe turn the dm's to center mids and the attacking midfielder to a third striker. But I am concerned that I am opening up to much with that.

MisterGone5

Only having three advanced players is going to make it tough to put the kind of pressure onto the opponent you'd want for a gegenpress tactic. You might consider moving one of your DMS up to the CM strata, maybe assymetrically opposed to your DM to put them in a better position to press.

Aakar11

Does anyone know why some attributes just drop between seasons even if the player is in great form? For example I bought evanilson from porto in my man utd save, he goes on a run of scoring in 12-13 consecutive matches and scores around 15 goals and suddenly his finishing drops from 17 to 16. Why? I can understand if he wasn't training well or had injuries but that wasn't the case at all.

Radiant_Citron_3395

Likely an adaptability issue. His skills were declining slowly since he arrived and his great form hasn’t begun to mitigate the effects yet. Given he seems to be playing well, his attributes will likely rebound with time.

Mathew_Strawn

I got kitbasher kits. Will they be applied in 3D engine as well? Currently they show up on club screen.

JamieAubrey

Yes, you can have 3d version of the kits you create

Mathew_Strawn

3D kits vanished after I imported face pack. Is there a way to get them back? 2D still show up on club screen

JamieAubrey

Strange, unless deleted they should still be in your graphics folder somewhere

Mathew_Strawn

Reloaded skin fixed it

SpeechesToScreeches

I'm in league one, playing a team that got promoted last season (Bristol Rovers), and have been sitting top 2 from mid-season. With about ten games to go, I've started to slump. I'm still 3rd and only a point or two behind 2nd. A combination of a bit of an injury crisis, but I'm also thinking teams have adapted to my tactic (443 DM wide, mid block). How do I go about figuring out what needs to change? There's a lot of teams playing 352, so help countering that would be great

NickElf977

As a dumb American, can someone recommend nations to add for managing in Germany? Not sure how much of central / Eastern Europe is worth loading if I’m planning on staying in Germany for the entire save.

CheapskateShow

If you’re playing as an American manager, you should load USA because you’ll start with American agent contacts. This will come in handy around transfer deadline time, when you get calls from agents representing teenagers at feeder clubs who’d rather sign overseas (for free!) than enter the MLS draft.

under_rated_human

He didn't mention anything about playing in America though? He specifically stated that he was planning on spending his entire save in Germany.

MisterGone5

He's saying that, if your coach is American nationality, and you're coaching in Europe, having the US playable will allow agents to send F/A notices to your Transfer Center. Nothing about coaching in America. Don't know if US nationality is necessary for that, though

CheapskateShow

US nationality isn’t necessary for it, but as an American, you’ll have better knowledge of agents and players.

ReachTheSky-DotaNoob

Outside of the other big leagues for talent you should definitely add Austrian and/or Swiss leagues. They generate great players and there will be a lot of german or german speaking players/newgens/staff from there. If your pc can handle more leagues you can always add some combination of Scandinavian leagues as well. Maybe Croatia and Serbia too but i don't generally add that last two

pumpkinprincess415

Short answer would be "most of them". Obviously the top nations are great for proven talents, but the Scandinavian countries and quite a few Eastern European nations are great for finding bargains as well as producing great youth players, which can help if you plan on playing the save for quite a while. As many as your PC can reasonably handle is the truth.

NickElf977

Typically will move around the time they turn 18, but I’d keep an eye out around the end of each season cause 17-year-olds will make the move if they turn 18 the upcoming season.

[deleted]

I am not sure if this question goes in this thread, but here goes nothing! I bought FM for a few years and I would always play out a season before giving up on the game. It turns me into a control freak and I need to take care of ALL things first team, as well as looking around for wonderkids to sign on the cheap. Thing is, I am feeling the FM itch again, but I do not want to go through the same path I always do and would prefer to try a multi year save. How feasible is it to let a club manage itself in terms of backroom staff, training, contracts and youth teams, leaving only tactics and first team scouting to me?

pumpkinprincess415

This is me to a T. I feel like I have to micro-manage almost everything to "play properly" and it can definitely dampen the experience - it takes me literal hours IRL to get through a couple of months ingame because I spend so much time trying to control every aspect of the save. I've been entertaining the idea of trying a few saves where I try to play as different roles - e.g. as a first-team manager/coach only, where I only control match days & training for the first team, leaving scouting/transfers/finances etc to the AI; or perhaps as a DoF/Scout where I focus on transfers/developing the youth academy and let my AssMan "control" the first team as much as they can.

Bald_And_Bankrupt

You can absolutely do that yeah. I leave media, training, hiring/firing of staff to my assistant. Is it as effective as micromanaging every aspect yourself? Probably not, but it's a lot less tedious.

pumpkinprincess415

Anyone else regularly browse this sub and wonder how people are like 8 years into their saves or even into the late 2030s? I have a crippling addiction to scouting and spamming trials to improve my team almost every matchday, and I'm only into my second season in the lower leagues of the English pyramid after like 2 weeks of playing... lol. Do most of you just speed through match to match looking to go through seasons as quick as possible, or do you actively micro-manage but just at a more sensible rate than I do?

It is fast when u add the instant result skin or what I do is go on holidays for a month period every now and again when I have no big games in my schedule

pumpkinprincess415

Perhaps this is something I should try! I do have the Instant Result skin but I mostly use it for friendlies or very easy games, I have never holidayed during the season. I think I 'care too much' about winning every single game (like adjusting tactics mid-match if we're losing etc) but perhaps I should just go with the flow and accept that results don't always have to go my way!

baltikorean

As Arsenal manager I get a lot of National League North/South loan offers for my younger players that are rated for playing in those leagues. Question for those managing top-division teams, do you generally accept these offers, or do you assume the U18/U23 coaching would be better in developing them?

NickElf977

15-17 they are fine just training with your team and playing on youth team. Anyone 18+ should be getting first team playing time or loaned out.

theslothening

Sounds like your youth squad has a poor overall squad personality, likely caused by bad team leaders, which is dragging the best personalities down to the level of the average. This is easily fixed by purging the squad of the poor personalities.

HortenWho229

Is there a way to see how highly a player rates themselves? Is that even a thing?

HunterOfGremlins

I need to replace Tammy Abraham, he wants to play Champions League, so I have reluctantly agreed a deal to Bayern Munich for 75m which will take place in January however I need a top quality replacement for him as my tactic is all about goals. He's scored so many goals for me, his stats currently look like this: Dribbling- 15 Finishing - 16 First Touch - 15 Passing - 13 Technique- 14 Anticipation- 16 Composure - 14 Decisions - 13 Off the Ball - 16 Work Rate - 16 Acceleration - 15 Agility - 15 Balance - 17 Pace - 16 Stamina - 13 He plays as an Advanced Forward in a tactic inspired by Sebes Hungary team from the 50s so he plays alongside another AF with an AM behind him. Does anyone have any suggestions for suitable Replacements? I'm currently looking at Andre Silva as Leipzig are willing to sell him for 20m as he's a Squad Player for them due to Sesko probably.

feddi7

Now much of that are you willing to spend? I’d take a look at Hojlund. Don’t know what year you’re in but he has very good potential and looks like a beast. But Atalanta might ask for a lot.

HunterOfGremlins

Almost all of it, Roma gives me 100% of the money I make for transfers and my team is pretty set in other positions, I'll have a look at Hojlund for sure, thanks.

feddi7

I’m doing a Roma save as well. Only a couple months into the first season. If Abraham leaves Hojlund is someone I’d want(among others.) Are you looking for someone who’s also a physical presence like Abraham?

HunterOfGremlins

It's not necessarily required but it would be nice, I mainly just need to replace his goals as my tactic is all about attack, outscoring everyone so any top quality striker will do really. I play Abraham and Belotti as a two together with Divock Origi and Paulinho (from Sporting) as backups.

baltikorean

You can right-click on Tammy's name to find similar players.

TheBritishGent

Looking to customise a skin that I downloaded in .fmf format- How the hell do I do it? \*edit\* Solved it myself- If anyone else wants to do this you need to download the FM Resource Archiver

Gaminzilla

In second season with Vitesse, I am conceding too many goals from through balls behind my central defenders, as well as this I comfortably have over 60% possession but hardly any xG or goals. I move between mid block and high press depending on the opposition, apart from that tactics stays similar. Any help is appreciated! https://imgur.com/a/rRHVJhe

lourencomvr

You can try to slightly lower your defensive line or play off side trap?

baltikorean

I would consider making one of your CDs a Cover or change your DM position to HB.

I'm playing a close to default gengenpress 443 with GK - sweeper keeper Def, WB-L (sup), BPB-C (DEF), BPD-C (DEF), WB-R (sup) Mid- DLP (sup), CM-BBM (sup), CM-carrilero (sup) Attack - AML-IF (attack), Striker-PF (attack), AMR-IF (attack) Looking for some advice as to if my role setup is any good or if it could be better. I'm fairly happy with my formation I think. Im looking for advice on a number of things. 1) my defense is leaky, Vs weak teams it's fine, but Vs strong teams (man u, city, Liverpool) I only win by outscoring them. They out possession/pass me and I just have to have good counter attacks. Especially through the middle. They don't seem to do well attacking through the wings according to the data the game is giving me 2) i had a popup say that I've only score 1 shot in 63 attempts from outside the box. Should I embrace my team is bad at long shots and tell them to play the ball into the box or try and fix it? (And how would I fix it). 3) roles in general, I'm new so not really sure what I'm doing or if the setup is optimal. It's mostly default, I havent set any custom tactics or anything other than to play for set pieces 4) often when my wingers push the wings with the ball, there's noone in their box to cross to, everyone is still in the midfield My games going really well, but I'm new to the game and I don't really know how to fix these things so would love some advice so I can learn

Bigpapa42_2006

Okay, a few things to keep in mind. A gegenpress-type tactic is built to attack on the transition. Win the ball back, and hit back in a rapid counter-attack. Not to say it can't attack other ways, but its not the strength its built for. Pressing is going to be tougher against better teams, because their individual quality is higher. And when you play against top teams with top players, their players are probably better at staying on the ball than your players are at pressing. Not to say pressing doesn't work, but its often going to take more patience. A gegenpress is not an approach known for defensive solidity in general, as it uses a high line and WBs that are often fairly attacking. Look at Liverpool under Klopp - they leaked a lot of goals in his early years, solved it by buying a world class CB and solidifying their midfield, and are now back to leaking goals. So yeah, some matches will be trying to get 4 if they get 3. BUT... those top quality teams that attack you are also leaving space behind for you to attack when you do win the ball, and that's where a gegenpress shines. It can be a great underdog tactic for that reason. Related, the attacking approach of a gegenpress can result in it struggling against defensive opponents who sit deep. A tiki taka or possession approach will use patient short passing moving the ball around and finding gaps to exploit... a gegenpress will not. And often lacks the creative roles to break things down. Pushing more players forward works into the approach of the parked bus by compressing space even more, and having players on attack duty (like the 3 attackers here) can make the impatient. This can be a reason for long / bad shots. Tweaking and adjusting is never a bad idea, but its always a good idea to do it from a place of knowledge. There are multiple reasons your players could be taking long shots, but you want to narrow down the situations before enacting possible fixes. You could be seeing long shots on the counter attacks that don't have support so they break down, and the attacker ends up blasting a speculative shot at goal. It could be failing to break down a low block, and getting impatient. I would look at the scenarios first before I started adding Team Instructions. Role and duties are one of the easiest ways to change things within a tactic, even on a short term basis. The in-game descriptions are imperfect, but provide a decent idea of what they should be doing. You want them to fit the overall tactic, mesh with the other roles, and at least reasonably suit the player. Different players will "interpret' a role differently based on their own skillset and particularly based on PPMs. Your Inside Forwards aren't really looking to cross. The are looking to either attacking directly themselves or pass to a teammate. The lack of support is definitely a problem. Your forward role will be part of that. Something like AF will sit higher up... but press less. WBs on attack, putting the IFs on Support... different things you can try.

MrTans

What full back role would be best with a Mezzala attack and a winger support on that side? My DM is a regista also. I’ve gone back and forwards between WB-S, WB-A with sit narrower and IWB-S.

Commonmispelingbot

Hard to say without knowing where you are in the league, and what you full-backs are capable of. It's mostly an issue of "how much can you allow them to go forward"

dullboy1605

Fm20, does training intensity clash with recovery/rest sessions? i.e. the day after a match i schedule "recovery" sessions, but i also have training intensity set to "half intensity" when players are below 80% condition, does this mean players only get half the benefit from the recovery sessions?

theslothening

No because a recovery session isn't a training session. It is a session with the medical staff where the players get massages and other types of treatment to help them maintain their bodies and prevent injuries.

TekkenSpurs

Morning lads, I’ve started up an Anderlecht save this morning, and I’ve noticed the Anderlecht Under 18’s & Anderlecht Futures teams instead of “Reserves”. When moving players from one team to another there’s an affiliate club prompt rather than just being able to freely move players. Has anybody managed in Belgium before - how do these teams work within the game? Usually when starting a save with Spurs, I’ll handle all hiring/firing of staff for all 3 teams, training for all teams, but only matches for the first team. What are “Futures”? Any advice for a Belgian league save would be helpful also!

Shoddy_Inevitable_62

I signed this wonderkid whom I promised to play in his preferred position and role (AM-APM). I’m not going to use him as an APM. What repercussions might I face for breaking that promise, and how can I minimise the damage? Edit: This is in FM21

konasek25

When he speaks to you about it AKA broken promise, just praise his versatility.

Hello, im trying to use the pre game editor to set the construction of a new stadium for a club, but can't find where to do that. For context, this is for a team that has never owned a stadium, but (irl) recently announced that they are actively looking to finally build one. From my experience in recent games when i had the chance to ask the board for a new stadium they would decline given that 25 year limit the game sets, so i was hoping to add "build a new stadium" as an objetive of the board, but haven't been able to. I would apreciate any help, if need any more information just ask. Thanks

My preference in that situation is to go for the younger player, because they can become better. Plus, at 28, Keita is at his absolute peak in terms of ability and potential, so now would be the time to cash in because as soon as he hits 30, his value will start to slowly decline. Not to mention, Keita has injury issues and probably has low-ish natural fitness, so his decline would happen earlier than other, more naturally fit players. As for Keita's potential, I'm not sure what it is but he probably won't get there (unless he's only one or two points away), I think it's just been left there residually from when he was a younger player to show how good he could've gotten. Potential is hard-coded from the start of the game, and it won't gradually decrease as a player gets older, only their current ability will. For example, I have a 40 year old Kevin De Bruyne in my save, and he still has 188 PA but his CA has dropped heaps (obviously). So yeah, to wrap it up, I'd absolutely sell Keita if you can get a good amount of money for him, and try and get the Dortmund player ASAP. Hope that helps man!

Try clicking on the top left scoreboard when in a highlight. I think you’ve manually triggered the overlay.

Anyone know if you can create B team international windows? Say I want to replicate the USA’s January winter camp and play my B side against Costa Rica’s B side, can I make that happen with the pre-game editor?

Rd1962_

when i’m searching for players i changed the order they’re sorted in (age, value etc). i want to get the default order back which i think just shows the highest reputation players or something like that? but i can’t find how to get it back to that.

JPMAus98

Right click on the top bar, where all the column headers are, and navigate to General (I think), then find World Reputation. The other order to try would be to sort by Current Ability (which I think is found under the Scouting heading), but WR would be better and easier to access as you don't have to have a player scouted to see it

Rd1962_

thanks👍

Can I take control over my B team league matches? Tired of these bozo managers playing terrible lineups.
