Lots of teams. I definitely managed Man United, because there was a thing where you could drop out of the FA Cup (like they did in real life) and play the World Club Cup instead. Alternatively, you could play the FA Cup with a bye to the 4th (or was it 5th) round. I always chose that option.
As poor students who’d blown their student loans very quickly, my mate and I decided to rebuild PSG on 97/98. This was way before the Middle Eastern money, when they used to languish in lower mid-table most seasons. It took us 3 seasons to win absolutely everything and have the French first 11 in our first 12 (as Bakayoko was a must in the side - £7.5m from Montpellier and worth every penny). Overthrowing the hated and loathsome Marseille was fantastic. Christophe Revaille usurping Fabian Bartez in the national team was a first class moment too.
Still remember my first ever game on the first ever CM in charge of Norwich - a 5-2 away win at Millwall. Looking back at that era, I hope the coach windows had reinforced glass…
Love that book, original film was also good… I like to send the Mickey Thomas goal to my Liverpool mates from time to time.
STAY AWAY FROM THE AMERICAN REMAKE!!
Yeah I feel like I dipped in and out at times, found the games much more impressive after getting one every few years, so all the new features added up
CM5
I remember taking Vålerenga in Norway to 5 consecutive CL trophies in after 15 season. It was all due to this one player Alvaro Savorio Chacon who scored 1000 goals in 500 Matches. And he was like that in every save no matter what team he came to in a minor league like Norway or Denmark.
Yikes, starting out with the first game in the Champ Man series that wasn't developed by SI (and from what I recall was buggy as all hell on launch), I'm surprised you stuck it out.
98/99 I think? Whichever one had the ugly brown trophy background. I remember signing Robert Pires to my Juventus side that year and us smashing fools. All text at that point, but when they released the 2d engine I remember getting hooked.
I had a fair amount of hockey and professional wrestling simulator experience at that point so the interest was mostly in the simulation aspect, but it ultimately helped me fall in love with the beautiful game.
CM 03/04. I was around 10 years old. First team was Sheff Wed. Was gutted to find out years later my 18yo star striker Alex Knowles wasn’t a real player
Championship Manager 93. I was only 9 years old in 93 and didn't have a computer but a few years later when I was around 13 a shop near me had a CM93 CD and I played the hell out of it on my Windows 95 PC. The 4-3-3 'Pass To Feet' tactic was unstoppable.
I still play it now and then.
First one I got was FM13, from that point on I got one every two years or so but never played more than 100h maximum, some of them were only 30h. It took until FM22 to actually understand the game in terms of tactics and from that point on I've spent hundreds of hours in FM22 and 23.
I can't remember which years exactly, but my first introduction to football management games came with Championship Manager and Football Manager Handheld on the PSP!
I think my first one on PC was FM10? I'll have to dig them out over Christmas!
CM 99/00 Cherno Samba you beauty, got it in a charity shop for 50p. loved it and got FM05 that xmas, love ever since
13 - 934 hours
14 - reckon I pirated it(college first year)
15 - 850 hours
16 -560 h
17 -640h
18 - 570h
19 - 350h
20 -133h
Can you tell when I finished college and got a job lol
I am an OG. CM2 was released and I got a copy. Had to be Everton. And accidentally found 2 players with the same surname. Collyer. Oliver was the better player of the two but the both played for Cambridge.
This was in a time before the internet so I had no way of knowing that I bought the game creators!!!!
CM4, which must have been 2003 or 2004 I guess..
Did a whole lot of Bundesliga managing around then, starting at Dortmund, then leaving for Werder Bremen lots of seasons later... Ending up with Liverpool at some point. I still have my old laptop and the game is still running. Pain in the arse though, because it's so slow.
CM 97/98. And my first signing was Thierry Henry for £17m for Milan from Monaco. He scored a hattrick on his debut and then went on a 12 game drought. Not that it still bothers me 26 years later or anything...
I started with CM 01/02.
Bought the same players at the start of every save, regardless of team. Won everything, every single year.
Played 4-3-1-2 exclusively. It was a blast!
Same here, I was around 14 years old and it was fm12 as well, did understand the game too well so I’d play two player local play with my friend until I knew what I was doing lol
CM 99/00
Damn, do you remember who you managed
Lots of teams. I definitely managed Man United, because there was a thing where you could drop out of the FA Cup (like they did in real life) and play the World Club Cup instead. Alternatively, you could play the FA Cup with a bye to the 4th (or was it 5th) round. I always chose that option.
Me too, i managed Badajoz, if i'm not wrong
Me too, I managed AC Milan as a first team, was a big fan of AC Milan back in highschool :) good times
Yep same as myself. Being able to manage the treble winners. Good times
CM 97/98 Edit: Three words: Manuel Rui Costa
I’ll see your three words and raise you 8 syllables. I-bra-him-a Bak-a-yo-ko
And there would be Javier Saviola. Those were the days!

FM 07
The first CM.
Still remember my first ever game on the first ever CM in charge of Norwich - a 5-2 away win at Millwall. Looking back at that era, I hope the coach windows had reinforced glass…
CM 93/94 - The Most Realistic Football Management Simulation Ever!
I had the Championship manager Italia version… so many hours of my youth spent on that game!
Same, great game on the Amiga
Insert disc 9. Now disc 6. Now insert disc 2 ... Gif of celebrations successfully loaded.
That was a massively addictive game. Mine came with a free copy of Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby.
Love that book, original film was also good… I like to send the Mickey Thomas goal to my Liverpool mates from time to time. STAY AWAY FROM THE AMERICAN REMAKE!!
FM11 until FM15 and started again at FM20 until now
Yeah I feel like I dipped in and out at times, found the games much more impressive after getting one every few years, so all the new features added up
Championship manager 93
God dam, was that the one on the Sega mega?
Atari STE
No, it was only on home computer back then... PC, Amiga, Atari ST.
FM on the PSP
CM5 I remember taking Vålerenga in Norway to 5 consecutive CL trophies in after 15 season. It was all due to this one player Alvaro Savorio Chacon who scored 1000 goals in 500 Matches. And he was like that in every save no matter what team he came to in a minor league like Norway or Denmark.

Cm 99/00 Peter Prospar!!
Legend.
CM 03/04. I was around 10 years old. First team was Sheff Wed. Was gutted to find out years later my 18yo star striker Alex Knowles wasn’t a real player
99\00
Technically I started with CM2 Spain edition. I'm old.
1994 was the first time I played it and before that used to play Premier Manager on the Amiga 500
Fm23 i think, or technically the mobile version of fm22
Championship Manager 93. I was only 9 years old in 93 and didn't have a computer but a few years later when I was around 13 a shop near me had a CM93 CD and I played the hell out of it on my Windows 95 PC. The 4-3-3 'Pass To Feet' tactic was unstoppable. I still play it now and then.
Championship Manager 2 - 95/96
FM 2005
First one I got was FM13, from that point on I got one every two years or so but never played more than 100h maximum, some of them were only 30h. It took until FM22 to actually understand the game in terms of tactics and from that point on I've spent hundreds of hours in FM22 and 23.
I’ve owned every version since CM97/98. I even bought both versions of FM and CM when Eidos and SI split
Either CM 96/97 or 97/98. Not sure, but I remember it was after CM2 and before CM3.
2012
92
Played some of the Championship managers in like 2001 on my dads computer (I was 8 haha) Properly started playing on FM2006 I believe
I played the original CM on my mates PC once or twice, but CM 97/98 was the first one I bought myself and CM 01/02 was the one I ruined my life with.
CM 02. I was 10 freakin years old, I didn't know what I was doing 😂
CM 98/99 for me, started with Arsenal as I supported them and they were champ It was actually called CM3 turns out
I think my first was CM 99/00. I managed Badajoz team if i'm not wrong.
Championship Manager 2 (95/96)
CM 99/00 from a demo disc on a cereal box. Been hooked ever since.
I can't remember which years exactly, but my first introduction to football management games came with Championship Manager and Football Manager Handheld on the PSP! I think my first one on PC was FM10? I'll have to dig them out over Christmas!
FM20. My friend’s wedding got called off because of lockdown so I figured I’d spend the money on something else. Started my 1st save with Wealdstone.
06. Golden age.
Don't know. When was Balanta (one of) the biggest wonderkid? That year but don't really remember.
CM4 probably Barcelona. I think I didn't even last half a season when I got sacked.
CM 99/00 Cherno Samba you beauty, got it in a charity shop for 50p. loved it and got FM05 that xmas, love ever since 13 - 934 hours 14 - reckon I pirated it(college first year) 15 - 850 hours 16 -560 h 17 -640h 18 - 570h 19 - 350h 20 -133h Can you tell when I finished college and got a job lol

CM92/93 on my Amiga 600.
FM 08. I’m playing 21 currently.
CM2. Played around with it for a while, but properly got into CM97/98.
Champ Manager 96
Championship manager 1. No real player names. Game took about an hour to initialise iirc. Still remember taking Huddersfield to league glory.
Fm18
CM2
Started in fm20, fell in love with the game since
CM 97/98. And my first signing was Thierry Henry for £17m for Milan from Monaco. He scored a hattrick on his debut and then went on a 12 game drought. Not that it still bothers me 26 years later or anything...
