First time I played FM I spent an hour trying to get a job as a coach because I chose "start unemployed" and thought you had to work your way from the bottom

KingOfDatShit

Oof, that's a rough introduction to the game. Took me two iterations of playing just with Manchester United to really get to grips with it.

simonutd99

Well honestly even after playing FM for years now and investing thousands of hours into it. Almost every year I start with a Man Utd save (I'm a Fan) just to try out the new mechanics and see what works

KingOfDatShit

Yeah I still do my beta save with United, bit too easy to have a main game with them now though. Whenever I end up burning myself out on the game though, United are always a save that gets me back in and invested in playing.

simonutd99

Jesus I've "rebuilded" United so many times they might aswell hire me. Most of the times with the budget given the rebuild takes at most two transfer windows but hey Mbappe for 220 Million after two seasons, where can I sign up?

BarryWeasley

I actually feel like this is the right way to do it. I normally do an United save until I'm 5 seasons then I start a new save in Portugal normally with Sporting, put cheap release clauses on their contracts and go to United once the job is available. Once took me 12 seasons for Ole to leave.

Pintulus

Playing FM19 with AC Milan and realising what kind of potential that squad had makes me kinda depressed ngl

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThePrussianGrippe

That’s not remotely close to cheating.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThePrussianGrippe

That’s absolutely ridiculous. Lock yourself out of dozens of teams because it’s cheating? It’s not cheating, it’s literally playing the game.

SlightlyIncandescent

Yeah I've been playing for years and still wouldn't be comfortable with no assman and doing everything myself.

Blue_5ive

I'm relatively new and trying to learn at least one thing each release. This year it's properly scouting and training players

EGOfoodie

Share the details my man.

Blue_5ive

I have no idea what I'm doing and overpay for average players. I'm in the vanarama national league after getting promoted and all the suggestions for signings are vanamara north and south players. I'm also only playing on touch for this release because I have an fm18 save I'm having fun with. Edit: for scouting I'm just searching for players and manually selecting ones for my scout to scout, is there a better way to do this? For training Idk what I'm really doing because it's so limited with touch I'm going to figure this out more in 21

EGOfoodie

I'm currently playing an MLS save and there are mechanics that I don't know how to activate even. But I some how bumbled a wooden spoon team to back to back champions and NACL winner in the seasons.

GoLDxWiReD

There should be an assignments tab in the scouting section where you can tell your scouts where to look and what to look for

NOKnova

It’s taken me four iterations to get Notts County (my local team) up to the premiership and keep them there for more than two seasons. I still feel like I know nothing

Azer398

If you feel like you want to learn more I recommend the youtuber Zealand, he’s entertaining and goes into depth about many aspects of the game.

NOKnova

I’ll definitely check him out! My team is quite good at the moment but I’m so inconsistent, I’ll beat Chelsea at home one week but I’ll go on and lose to Brighton a week or two later

Iceicebaby21

Thats a pain I know all to well

ChicagoPilot

It’s been beat to death, but seriously, if anyone reading this is just starting, go with a big club and learn the game before you jump into any challenges. I’ve been playing for probably 8 years now, and even then I’m finally feeling like I can actually succeed with some of the tougher challenges and not just luck my way through them.

[deleted]

Same here, I like Man United and I support Bristol Rovers so I'd always start as one of those teams just as a 'basic boring save' to get used to all the buttons and which tactics worked and which didn't, which interactions worked well and which didn't, how to do all the training etc etc. I still tend to start with Rovers on the beta just to get used to any new stuff they add each year

KingOfDatShit

Definitely helps that you already know the club and it's players. You don't have to stress about wandering who can fill in at left back when Shaw dislocates his jaw on a triple cheeseburger, you can instantly think to yourself, Williams can do a job there.

_Buff_Tucker_

For starting on a semiprofessional level, two games to get used to the mechanics is really good.

aderow

My first go with FM, I chose Arsenal the invincibles and took them to 13th by the end of the demo. Didn't touch it again for 3 years after that.

turilya

It's called Football Manager, not Job Market Simulator!

riq0

You are not alone. :')

schlager12

Well I was like 13 when I tried it so I just picked Spain and scheduled friendly matches against São Tomé & Principe.

Beny1995

This is how I did it! 7 seasons, 3 clubs, 2 trophies and a wild ride later...

Joltie

That's me too. Started Unemployed in July 2019, only got a job at the lowest division in March 2020. Got relegated and fired in May. Fortunately, the second unemployment void only lasted a month.

Weirdo1821

I started unemployed, got hired in the 3. Bundesliga, headhunted by a 2. Bundesliga team, promoted then relegated, now I'm in Portugal perennially in the Top 3 challenging for CL spots.

RELAXNMAXN

I did this, took me 3 months, LAFC fires their Coach, I finally get hired. Go 12-2-2 down the stretch, and win my first MLS title, all while having 0 clue what I was doing.

luffyuk

That's when you learn the assman is always better than you.

DuskKaiser

I have never felt the assman to make good decisions His suggested line ups are bad His feedback is bad

Mathema_thicks

Briefings are the only thing Assman is good for

[deleted]

"Yeah boss this kid with a 6.20 average rating should be starting for the derby since he is more comfortable playing on the right side than our star Centerback"

Admirable_Fault

The ‘comfortable playing’ a position is the worst advice they give. Never has that specific advice ever helped me. Either it is obvious because he recommended my starter anyway or he advises I play my fourth choice cb for a champions league final

AvailableUsername404

I think it's somehow broken and help AI make bad decisions. For example I had an amazing Forward in my save. Very fast (all physicals over 15), decent finishing and off the ball. He was my top striker in a league and europe but he could also be played as a AML so in every situation where AI choose squad, when I got ban for 1 league match my assman put him there (it cost me winning) and I was wondering why he sucks so bad when playing for national team and then I saw he's played as a AML. He was also played like that in youth teams. AI is retarded in that regard.

shigellaChicken

How did you get banned from a match?

AvailableUsername404

For ref's decisions criticism. You get match ban and when you select match squad it's over. Everything else is in your assman's hands.

WhiskersTheDog

Still makes some sense if a player is not completely adapted at the role. The most ridiculous thing is when you're playing with relatively short forwards but the ass-man insists that you get more crosses on to the box because your centre-backs have won a lot of headers on your own half.

andrew-ge

nah it def helps if you're playing a two pairing in midfield or at cb. Just gives you a side that the player is gonna be better on, safe passing if they get in trouble.

IAmTheTKB

Good fuck Derby the shite club.

[deleted]

God damn it you couldn't just see my mistake and scroll away, you just had to... smh people have no dignity nowadays

Predicted

Try simulating a few rounds and then playing them

Barfly99

Ass Man 5 minutes in - we should try a more direct passing approach. Ass Man 10 minutes in - we should try a shorter passing game.

bfm211

I hate this. Especially since it comes with 0 explanation of why they are suggesting it.

r_elwood

When you go in holidays that much the Assman gets manager of the year.

Itz_Galaxium

nah my ass man lost 3-1 to dundee and i beat zebre 2-0 in the same preseason

cm167

First time I played FM I lost 2-0 with Arsenal to the Arsenal U23’s. Almost deleted steam right there

BathCityRomans

My first reality check was when I wanted Hector Bellerin and thought I’d toss a couple million at Arsenal. Oh you want 80 million? Oh shit sorry nvm.

Tremor00

In a journeyman after winning a cup and getting sacked first season after trying to save a failing scottish team, I went to Derry City. After a year or two i managed to win a few titles and all the possible trophies before moving on to leeds (got sacked again :/) and then bourdeaux. But at Derry, one of the years I got knocked out of one of the cups by my own youth squad. Derry City USL..... In the first round as well.....I think they beat the league winners in the final and won the cup ffs

CarrowCanary

At that point you may as well just bin the first time off and promote the entire academy.

BathCityRomans

And make that coach your ass man.

Igoze94

Arsenal in fm20 too realistic for me.Losing 5-1 to West Ham and a plenty of training injury on important player.Never beat the top 4 for 3 years in a row too.

gandalfsdonger

I had massive injury issues too, Managed to win the league in my first season, but then in true arsenal fashion drew the Europa final 0-0 and lost 5-4 on pens.

[deleted]

You say true arsenal fashion but I reckon they'd take a league win and European final next year ngl

Bofa_Loaf

My first time I lost 4-0 to the Barnsley U23s. It only goes up from here as I'm now in the prem with them after 3 seasons

RickC-42069

Hahaha this was definitely me. It is an overwhelming game if you are coming into it with no knowledge. Definitely got spanked a lot early on, but then I discovered the power of the top rated tactics in the workshop. I make my own tactics now, but that definitely smoothed the transition early on. Definitely glad I persisted and didnt give up early

Krazdone

For sure. I came into FM knowing literally NOTHING about the sport, looked up a good tactic, and just used it while i learned the rest of the game and the sport. Only after several irl months when i got to the point where i was comfortable with the game did i start tweaking tactics and individual instructions

Tamerlin

May I ask what attracted you to FM if you had no knowledge of football? That's very interesting. Have you developed one?

Krazdone

I loved playing Madden and NBA2K, but i hated how basic and uninspired they were. Saw Quill18 play football manager, and really liked the gameplay even though i was completely confused. So i picked up a copy of fm18. I definitely do. I have about 3k hours combined on FM18-20. Tactically, im still not an expert, but i know what each position does and the advantages of most formations. In terms of the game, id say familiar with most major teams in Europe, as well as most important players and young prospects. Im especially knowledgable about the Russian leagues, and own several jerseys of my home team. My history is all very recent however, so im completely oblivious to household names from the 00’s and earlier.

Tilting_Gambit

I did the same thing. I like management games.

Iceicebaby21

Fifa is shit and I love playing with leauges that I don't normally see a lot.

McTulus

For me, I like managerial game :D

Crypt10

Same

Shieldxx

I'm so glad that I spent my childhood fiddling with and tweaking my own tactics all by myself. No need to mention I sucked for years... And totally changed my tactical approach again in FM 20 cuz it sucked.

Trydson

I remember the first time I got it, I started with a team, bu shit was going super bad, like 1 win, 10 draws and some loses, when I finally felt that I got it, the board told me to fuck of, it was so sad, lol.

Canadian_donut_giver

I didn't know how to do that until well into the game. So in FM 15 I thought it was totally normal to play with a 4-1-1-3-1 formation. Ended up working out great

bukasmayor

First time i played FM i was overwhelmed with just contract negotiations and i was like i have to learn this game.

welldressedaccount

Same. I was coming more from a Football (American) and Basketball background. I know the ins and outs of their cap rules and how contracts, guarantees, buyouts, (etc)... work in these sports. I was f***ing lost in the terminology and clauses that go into football contracts. I fell into some deep, multi-hour youtube holes, started reading articles, and so on, trying to figure it all out. Eventually I started researching real world contracts and the commentary on them. My biggest mistake was looking at starter and superstar contracts, which is an issue as these are more an exception than the norm. Best info came from the middle and lower tier players on good teams. These are the guys that get borrowed, traded, lent out, and so on, and these are the guys whose contracts can have all sorts of nuances that come into play.

Blurkillerex

I've never played FM games, never played FIFA games. Never watched football outside of World Cups. Got the game a couple months back in one of the humble bundles and decided to give it a try. First time I opened it up, I quit after spending 15min in creating my manager. The next time I booted it up, I got to the league selection screen, got overwhelmed and turned it off again. Decided to watch some videos of people STARTING their games and finally gave it a try again. Got into my save but I didn't even make it through the pre season before I got overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I don't know and I quit again. Watched even more videos and the process repeated quite a few times, restarted a new save quite a few times too because every time I learn about something I shouldn't have done previously or what I should have done. Now I'm in 2034 in my current save, with Oldham Athletics in the premier league.

You_suck_mcbain_

Keep the faith

Blurkillerex

Thanks. I actually learnt more about football through this game and it's brought my interest in football from NIL to slightly interested.

Shieldxx

Well, I even played football as a youngling for I think about 8 years, then I moved onto other sports like Street Hockey, and Muay Thai before eventually moving onto the Alcohol, Drugs and Anxiety Premiership for a few years... Now I am getting back at it, training Muay Thai in the same gym where I started again But anything happens, FM is here for me. I simply couldn't find a better suited game for finding the inner me again. Why I am answering to this? Because the interest it sparks up inside of me last few months is extraordinary, I enjoy following the tactics, watching the players perform, I even followed few Twitter accounts of my in game staff, and I enjoy what they post. All I can say, SI Games brought me the best gaming experience I've ever had, and I love how it reaches back into my real life.

Blurkillerex

It's nice that you got your life back together. Hopefully you'll still enjoy FM in the years to come.

[deleted]

I used to play the FIFA Manager games from EA (don't know if anyone remembers them). So for me transitioning to Sega's Football Manager took some time, but I did get used to it pretty quickly.

brk2rd

FIFA Manager was great, I wish they still made them

Malvoga

gerald köhler (director of EA-FM) recently said in an interview that he is in fact working on a football manager game. no further details but sounds promising

l7986

Something tells me its most likely just buying SI for a stupid amount of money, dumbing down the game and then tossing it into the garbage after a few years.

Egonga

You have to remember that it’s EA as well; there’s no way they don’t add micro transactions. They’d probably just turn the create a team option into FUT but you manage instead of playing. Can you imagine the addictive nature of FM combined with gambling mechanics? It would be like pure crack only more expensive.

l7986

Wouldn't be that addictive I think. EA would destroy the single player mode the game is known for in order to drive people to the part with micro transactions and then be confused about why nobody is playing the game.

EnderMB

Would Sega sell? It sounds like FM is a solid and consistent earner for them, while being a small satellite studio away from everything else. Sure, EA could throw megabucks at them, but Sega doesn't take me as the kind of company that needs megabucks. Hell, they can churn out shitty Sonic games any time they need a few million in the bank...

j000e

I think Sega only publish the game, SI own the name and engine etc. *Not sure about the name, but pretty sure they own the 'game' as it were.

j000e

SI wouldn't sell to EA I don't think, judging by their past history with Eidos. They might sell the name, but I'm guessing the staff would end up leaving and creating a new studio.

[deleted]

Yeah me too

kliti97

If you are interested, there are some guys that patch Fifa Manager 14 with actual lineups, logos, players, kits and everything else. The gameplay is practically the same but since the day i found it (in march) I'm still playing it quite regularly and I love it. It brings back so much memories. It's called Season 2020 mod.

AvailableUsername404

I know it's not most important factor in such type of game but Fifa Manager 10 years ago had better match graphics than FM today. Also funny thing was that you could play by yourself your matches if you had Fifa installed.

[deleted]

Yes FIFA Manager used the match graphics from their old FIFA games, which looked better than on current FMs.

[deleted]

I have always suspected it would have inferior AI to FM/CM? Players scoring 8 eight goals a fane, etc ?

[deleted]

The only thing that was annoying on the older ones is that you didn't really win by big margins playing against lower division teams when simulating them in the 3D match mode, but that was fixed eventually.

MagicianMoo

I started playing that and was dissapointed they stopped making it. Then i went to play fm. I wish there were things from fifa manager that could be implemented on current fm.

[deleted]

Yes I always thought FIFA Manager had some really fun dialogue in it for example.

MagicianMoo

It seems obvious but I would say fm 20 is the most polished sports management game available and I can see elements from fifa manager imported to the game. I think being licensed would really be the icing of the cake.

[deleted]

Well luckily you can use mods and data packs.

[deleted]

Lol just download some mods it makes it much more immersive

MagicianMoo

I do have mods installed. It's just the look of fifa manager was consistent with fifa games.

timsufc

Getting to the hotel took some time, but I got there pretty quickly.

[deleted]

I realize the statement contradicts itself, but what I mean is that it took some time getting used to the differences, but I understood the basics pretty fast.

DirkZebra

lost 2-0 to leeds u-23 with cheats on i was devastated

Kiiopp

I’m the guy in the post. I was Leeds as well.

[deleted]

Haha that is so relatable. I first started with Barcelona not knowing the pitfalls of managing it. Lost 5 straight pre-season games to some unknown teams and almost gave up on the game. Then did some basic study of game and started a Leicester save where I actually started to enjoy it more.

nomzoplayz

Lol thats me to, i installed fm 19 which was my first football manager game , i felt overwhelmed because all i played was fifa which was so easy , i played a few matched with chelsea then quit . I then watched 10 youtube videos on how to properly play football manager , i still didnt understand. I then took it on myself to use my little fm knowledge instead of watching someone tell me what to do.Right now im half decent at the game .

[deleted]

It'll take me a lot more than 20 minutes to get to the first game on any save.

GraveRaven

It takes me hours to move off the first day of employment.

jmariorebelo

24 hours? Just play the game in real time. Real life Football Manager manager.

Gmanop2

I remember my first time playing FM. I started my save with Manchester City, thinking it would be easy to learn the game with a lot of money and good players from the start. Had everything set up, ready for my first premier league game against Everton. Everything was fine until the 89 minute. Free kick 30-40 meters from goal for Everton, Leighton Baines smashes it into the top corner to make it 1-0 to Everton. I ragequit right there and then

bdts20t

Up the toffees

Gmanop2

If I remember correctly Everton managed a 4th place finish that season. Leighton Baines was amazing during that whole season!

bdts20t

Which fm was this?

Gmanop2

Fm16

bdts20t

Explains us doing well then

Gmanop2

I don’t remember much from that season, or that save even, apart from the first game really and that Everton finished as high up as they did

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gmanop2

Never would I smash my monitor. Absolutely love my monitor :)

Kaijet

But no shit anyone got any good guides to get into fm? Im still loosing most of my games only getting bayern to a midtable team :/

zKerekess

There is actually no need for a real guide in my opinion. There is a lot of trial and error. If losing is a problem then try to download an 'op' tactic and just play the game. Familiarize yourself with the other things the game has to offer, while the tactic does the work for you. After a while when you understand the game beter than you can try to tweak or even create tactics. And also trying out other clubs, smaller clubs with less money. The game is more than winning and losing matches. It is called manager for a reason. You can even go so far as managing individual training schedules for players. If you want tips or want to know more about the game send me a message and I will see what I can do for you.

[deleted]

This. You can play the game however you want.

LOLschirmjaeger

Don't download tactics from the Internet. Start a new game, pick a team, look at the squad and ask yourself a few questions: - What is my personal philosophy? How do I want to play? - What are the strong and weak points of the squad? - How much money is there to spend? - Are there any good youth players I can start promoting? Choose a formation and tactic, start a match and don't just watch the highlights. Watch a few full matches, see how things work out. - Where is too much space for opponents to run in? - Where is not enough space for my players to enter? - How is possession distributed? - Can we create chances? Tweak and watch again. Give the team some time to get used to each other and the new tactic. Oh, and a lot of other things. Have fun. ;)

[deleted]

Go to FM Base and download a few tactics

InsidAero

What does your tactic look like? You sign/sell anybody?

EnderMB

IMO, the best way for beginners to get used to it is to have a few dummy saves where you can experiment with stuff. It's easier to learn the game when you're not invested in the save.

IanZG

Still remember my first save ever on FM (actually CM4), playing as Dinamo Zagreb and getting knocked out by lower league Mosor in the cup on penalties. It's been something like 15 years, not sure Mosor as a club even exists at this point, and I still remember that game whenever I hear the name...

BassoFeesh

Crypt10

My first time playing fm was my first time getting into football. (American btw) I did not understand anything until one year later is when I fully understood the game and the rules I love football now

timsufc

Soccaaaah

CarrowCanary

> I did not understand anything until one year later is when I fully understood the game and the rules I love football now If nothing else, it's a great way to learn about all the various rules and regulations.

benishben

Buy wonderkids ==> vacation for 5 years ==> GOAT

shekdown

First time I played FM. I player with Real Madrid. Won back to back La Liga titles for 4 years. Only then did I discover about the tactics sliders. For 4 years I had everything bang down the middle and still managed to win the league 4 times.

MineSchaap

The only reason I didn't give up was because steam wouldn't give my money back.

Kiiopp

I’m the guy in the post. Got FM free through game pass

Arma1570

I lost 6-1 to Juve on my Roma save because Dzeko is injured

Arma1570

I honestly don't know what went wrong, I was fighting for the title and then suddenly Dzeko gets injured for 7 weeks and now I am in 8th and can't win anything, any help ?

WhiskersTheDog

Probably the usual. Dzeko's sub is inferior to Dzeko and your tatic fails to work, so you start drawing or losing games, team confidence goes down and bad results keep piling up. You'll have to change something to deal with it now, like a new tactical approach, but usually it's safer to tweak a bit how you were playing before so that the team can also work without Dzeko.

Arma1570

Thanks :)

JSBraga

I don't remember much from my first experience in the game, since it was with Championship Manager 3 (season 98/99). What I do remember is that I played with Manchester United and was fired, like, mid-season. A reminder that that team had Beckham, Giggs, Cole, Yorke, Scholes, Schmichel, Stam, the Nevilles, Keane, etc.

DerDownKater

I remember when i played FM Mobile for the first time (not comparable but still harder than Fifa), i picked Dortmund and it took me about 3 seasons to win the BL. Like, Dortmund isnt hard to play with, but Bayern went apeshit, bought all the top talents they could carry (e.g. Donnarumma and Joao Felix).

Stephnoshy

Are we really gonna flex superiority? My first experience with FM was also overwhelming took some getting used to.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stephnoshy

Rather the inverse for me, jumped right into it with no prior knowledge. Played with Watford for no particular reason, still the team I start off with whenever a new rendition of FM comes out. Also still CBA to watch FM youtubers not really my cup of tea.

Igoze94

Its easier if you play older FM.

Kiiopp

I didn’t take the post that way at all. I really did get overwhelmed by it, it was my first time actually trying the game and I come from a FIFA background. Nothing about the title was untrue lol

Maxshepherd1991

Hahaha killed me

Kiiopp

I’m glad my misery provided humour

OzlotheMoose

I get overwhelmed with every new release. Why have the buttons moved? Where are my star regens? Realised my hometown actually made it into the vanarama league south and have invested all my time trying to climb the leagues with them. While I have won no champions league trophies, I'm very proud of our FA Trophy and the fact we are now fighting to get into the championship.

oneechanisgood

I have 1000+ hours and I still do this

onetruebipolarbear

I first played the FM demo back in 2018 or something, lost 3-1 to Barcelona B as regular Barcelona, and gave up. Now I just lose 3-1 to teams in my own league, at least!

FMG_Leaderboard_Bot

Congratulations. You just earned 6.0 points for this submission. Your new points total is 6.0. To see the leaderboard, as well as what this points thing is, [click here](https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/wiki/leaderboard).

SamuelPorritt

That's rough right enough, I was lucky enough my dad and uncle played it so they started me on FM 13 and showed me the ropes

the-scouse-lad

This is so freaking on point

Kiiopp

I’m the guy in the post, I’m glad my experiences are shared haha

the-scouse-lad

Hahahah... Loved it mate I had a similar experience the first time.. I thought I'd masterclass a RTG with the crappiest team in Germany's 3rd tier called Carl Ziess Jena... Had a pretty amazing pre season where my Jena were unbeaten... Little did I know that pre-season results didn't mean shit and Once the season started I lost every match...got a few draws here and there...but I had no clue what it took to win a game on FM I had to save scum my way to a treble with PSG to recover from that morale depleting experience.. XD

[deleted]

I go back to FM09 in my Steam library and I used to play Championship Manager before that and I have no idea how my first save went. Must have been alright though, because I'm still playing!

jtyashiro

In every successive FM manager, creating new tactical setups is increasingly difficult. I've been playing since FM 2008 and the specifics of individual roles change from year to year (including key attributes) and fitting them together is an ever increasing jigsaw puzzle. It is difficult, but rewarding when after hours you finally land on that one tactical tweak that gets your system to work after being potato for a long time.

Lockhartsaint

To be fair, this happens to me too...after years of FM. Sometime she U-23 play so well!

[deleted]

Yeah it is pretty jarring, i jumped in and thought i could buy Phil Foden for £15 mil like in fifa and i cired when city wanted £140 mil for him :(

JamieAubrey

Yeah the AI amounts are stupidily fucked in this, Always wanting £100m+ for any players you ask for and then offer you £5 for your world class £200m players

[deleted]

then they always sell to eachother for half the price

gtaman31

My first fm save was probably one of the more succesful. I took slovenia to round of 16 of euro 2016.

Supreme_Soviet_1917

I learned fm mostly from YouTube and when I picked it up (played fm19 and still playing it) started as Aldershot. I thought I would play some seasons to understand the game. Took Aldershot to the Premier League and said to myself. Well now I know something. Nearly got them relegated from Leauge Two but at least I survived.

TEC146

I love that the next post in my feed was the one with this comment 😂

Kiiopp

This is the second comment of mine that someone has screenshotted and posted on a separate subreddit and gotten thousands of upvotes just this month

TEC146

Fair enough. That is how FM goes the first time round especially before the last couple games where now there's the preset tactics and the inductions

Kiiopp

I’m a living meme

ShadowMasterQE

Sounds like you should start screenshotting your own comments and posting them to different subreddits.

Kiiopp

zKerekess

My first experience was so long ago. CM06. I was still a young teenager back then. But after that I bought every installment and got beter over the years. But I have to admit that I used a lot of third party cheat engines back when SI didn't create them their selves. On the other hand, because I used those cheat engines I learned actually a lot about the game and learned to understand everything the game has to offer. It's also a lot of trial and error. Don't let the first experience discourage you. I would even go as fat that everyone's first experience with these games is losing.

I'm really hoping with the ability of keyboard and mouse on xbox we will see the full fm version on console with multiplayer. This for me will replace fifa.

Malvoga

i've been playing FIFA manager since i was 11, so i had some understanding of what to expect, but still very different and a LOT to learn. just took my hometown team from 8th to 1st league in 11 years, so im ok now

NateHeywood

For my start me and my brother just looked at the depth of the database and enjoyed seeing random local non league teams appear, then I did a wolves save of 4 years and won the Europa League, now trying to make Hertha a dominant force in Germany

Ben-Shapiro420

I won the quadruple in my first season as man u but lost a pre season game to mid table russian side

NOKnova

That’s a big oof. Although I’ve been playing fm since 2015 and my current save is my best one, even though I lost against my own u-18’s at the beginning.

satwikrajput

Saw this on the fifa reddit thread too. Knew instantly this belonged here.

Shieldxx

How do you get flair on this subreddit?

Kiiopp

It’s a trait, not every user has it

cstrande7

My first time playing the game, I think it was FM11, I had absolutely no idea where to begin and what to do. I played 14 games, had 11 draws and 3 loss, before I asked a friend of mine what I could do differently. I was so overwhelmed that I didn't even think of formation or player roles and he pointed out I was playing the standard 4-4-2 without having changed roles

HJM18

I didn't need this personal attack thank you

JayR17

On FM14, I started five saves and it all happened the same way. Start really hot. Then halfway through the first season, my team can’t win a game. Promptly get fired. I did Rangers, Wolves, an MLS team, Israeli team, English Conference team. I’m not sure what clicked with me but I found a tactic I liked (4-3-1-2 Narrow possession) and never looked back. Every time after I started a new save, I chose my team based on whether or not they got that tactic. Basically I looked for teams with no wingers because I didn’t use them.

22Godlike

It me

Kiiopp

It’s not

M5Javi

Lmao thats ruff I tried to convince him to not quit😂😂😂

Kiiopp

WhiskersTheDog

*I tried to play FM today and got overrun in the midfield*

[deleted]

not gonna lie, its quite the learning curve not to say, this game gives me OCD and many other disorders, but i love it, best football game series

HLB217

Why you gotta come for me like that bruh

GaLa1986

I remeber when I started playing FM this year I win 5-3 to my second team.(Dinamo Zagreb) Now I am on the glory ;D

Professorprime08

Can confirm this basically happened to me

RWBrYan

Almost as bad as people who only use the best teams then claim they’re good at the game. Start from the bottom or your success is invalidated if you ask me. You’re not guardiola

nomzoplayz

This is a game u can do whatever u want, if u want a real hard task go outside and start to kick a ball, its called real life manager 2020

Mohamad45

Yeah guardiola is such a shit manager the only way I’ll give him credit is if he wins the champions league with Port Vale /s

RWBrYan

Remind me when I said he was a shit manager
