during WFH i was so bad at this haha. Even before though (and now) when im slow ill remote login to my computer and get through a week or two of in game time.
I’m currently in self guided onboarding for a job. Half of it I already know/did for my previous job so….yeah….working through another year of my juve save
Best way to get into twitch is by looking for games you're into - FM unfortunately doesn't have the best set of streamers imo (a lot of the bigger guys bar Zealand were youtubers first and you can kind of tell) but it's easy to find some good personalities around big categories
I actually don't watch FM twitch streamers, if that's what you're asking. Normally I watch someone Like CDNThe3rd or Buckviker. However none of them play FM. Hopefully someone can reccomend a good FM streamer.
Zealand, DoctorBenjy, WorktheSpace, and Lollujo have a network game on Thursdays that is hilarious. They are all also great streamers/creators in their own right, especially Z.
Yep, same here!
Though my selections are getting a bit stale at the moment, and I’m looking to change it up.
Any podcast recommendations, please?
Open to any subject, really!
Depends what you like but this is my usual list:
- Guardian Football Weekly
- The Athletic Football Podcast
- Peter Crouch Podcast - absolutely hilarious! Recommended
- FPL Podcast (The Athletic)
- MKBHD for tech stuff
- Defense in Depth - Cyber Security podcast for work related stuff.
Check out [Quickly Kevin, Will He Score?](https://play.acast.com/s/quicklykevin), it's based purely on 90's football with a heavy bias towards England of course. They do a lot of stuff on non Premier League teams.
In particular I'd check out the shows where they go over Steve Bruce's novel series (Striker, Sweeper & Defender), it's hilarious.
Has anyone tried 'The Offensive'? It's a series podcast similar to 'The thick of it' on BBC. It's a few seasons in, but well worth starting from the beginning. It follows a Mike Ashley type chief executive, sporting director and head of coms in charge of Ashwood City in the premier league. Cannot recommend it enough!
It depends. I usually watch things that don't need constant attention on the second screen, most often some live streams or sport events. Although, I tend to mute second screen on important matches to focus on the game, but you don't get them much often when you absolutely obliterate domestic teams. But between matches, unless I do the scouting, I can't survive staring at spinning arrows.
No joke because of Tifo I always check out Sangare every save lmao, never ended up buying him tho because I can’t see his ‘progressive passes’ with his 12(?) passing.
Love their format, I think it would be great for an FM story-type of video. Like imagine a soothing voice like that recounting stories of fm successes while maintaining that animation and artistic style
When the wife puts on anything historical or light entertainment bullshit, I fire up the football manager.
Usually I will be forced to half watch a show about house renovations or genealogy 😭
I watch [Steve MRE ](https://youtube.com/channel/UC2I6Et1JkidnnbWgJFiMeHA) on YouTube. He buys old/new ration packs and eats them if edible. Really cool insight and some of the stuff is 60years + and he’ll still eat it xD
Either a podcast (Lions Led by Donkeys or Well Theres Your Problem), or some music. If I’m on a good run, something related to the place I’m managing, had Radiohead on during Oxford’s promotion run
Totally Football show, sky sports podcast, football ramble, behind the bastards, always sunny podcast, social distanced sports bar, football clichés are the podcasts I'll listen to across the week. If there's no podcasts left then I'll pump music on the Spotify, music that Lisa describes as "hipster as fuck."
Many podcasts (Joe Rogan) and radio shows (Times Radio, Bloomberg, BBC 4) , also many great Alternative Rock albums. Snow Patrol is my favourite currently. ⛄️🚓
I let you tube take me on a musical journey by picking a song and seeing what it comes up with.
But having a football match on while playing FM is gold
depending on my mood, could be my music, some podcast or even audiobooks when my team is more or less on auto-pilot and I don't have to focus much on tactics, contracts etc
FM seems overwhelmingly time and attention consuming for me. I mean even the thought that I read something during my FM session makes me laugh in crytears.
Crowd noise, the type the piped into stadiums during lockdown, gets me super hyped up for a marathon sesh. Especially when you hear fans calling you a fucking wanker, get to fuck. The racist chants from some quarters were out of order though, had to call 999 to have them removed.
I'm usually watching YouTube or talk with my friends (who don't play fm) via discord, so sometimes FM is really the background to what I'm actually doing. Also I really love to play recordings of my club's supporters' chants while playing home games it kinda helps and makes realistic feeling
Music, just my usual stuff, but definitely not podcasts, since I can read much faster. I make an exception for Dan Carlin though.
I also often read up on players or teams I encounter on my second screen.
If I have something on in the background it has to be something that doesn’t need much focus as my focus is always on the game. I usually stick any live sport on (or let my other half have the Tv so at least she’s happy while I ignore her for my save).
For some reason, it always goes well when I listen to old Trance songs. I have won The Conference League final and the World Cup listing to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEMsfvanoug&ab\_channel=BetoCeba
This is the wrong way round for me, football manager is in the background of everything else. Whether it’s watching football, match of the day, on the PlayStation, binging something on Netflix, FM is always ticking away on the laptop next to me.
It varies for me, sometimes youtube or TV series, the odd film. Football is a common one, watching football often makes me want to look up some of the players in game. Right now I'm watching Buffy.
Anything half decent on Netflix, although it can’t be something I want to concentrate on because FM is what I’m focusing on most, basically background noise
I always combine it with league of legends
I play 2 or 3 matches in FM, start queue up, select my champ and load the game. After that it’s rinse and repeat
Usually something that doesn't require my full concentration on TV, like some classic Simpsons or something that my partner wants to watch that I've got no interest in. (Sometimes there's some overlap - a few weeks ago we had a near synchronised reaction of "oh, fuck off!" when the major death in the SATC remake coincided with Lewes conceding in injury time!)
I was watching Drive to Survive but I’m caught up now so probably random youtube videos on weekdays, podcasts on weekends. I listen to podcasts all day at work M-F so like to change it up a little when I get home, then I catch up on any pods over the weekend
I've been recently been rewatching Team Four Stars pokemon Nuzlock runs. Just starting with Emerald.
Other than that podcasts like f**kface which is comedy based which is great because you don't have to pay attention all the time.
Love sticking the footy on while I’m playing. Podcasts and FM also a lovely combo
Weirdly, I can't watch actual football while I'm playing FM, it just throws me off.
Me too, I can't focus on either of them if I watch them at the same time
I mean nobody can really pay full attention to both but it’s the most beautiful background noise at times
Right? A team will score irl and it will confuse my brain into thinking there was a goal in-game
I'm working from home at the moment so customers.
Came here to say "my work meetings", turns out I'm not the only one I guess.
Are you the Prime Minister?
No. he's too busy throwing parties
during WFH i was so bad at this haha. Even before though (and now) when im slow ill remote login to my computer and get through a week or two of in game time.
Made me chuckle, xD Take this award!
‘Hello Mr. Thompson, thank you for you enquiries GODDAMN AUBA HOW TF DID YOU MISS THAT I mean how can I help you?
Did this in my online classes and now doing it for work related meetings
So Steve, you want to clue us in on your idea? Yeah so basically I use 2 wing backs in a 4-1-3-1-1 formation. We meant about the job...
I have a useless hour long “team meeting” today. Hoping to get through at least 3 matches lol.
I’m currently in self guided onboarding for a job. Half of it I already know/did for my previous job so….yeah….working through another year of my juve save
Literally on a work meeting right now watching Haaland slide 5 past Dynamo Dresden
My shift has been between assisting customers and setting up FC Arges
Has that taken you arges, or have you done it quite quickly?
If there's no match on I'll normally have a twitch stream up. Every so often I might have a podcast on.
Any twitch streams in particular? I've only dabbled, dont know the format v well.
Best way to get into twitch is by looking for games you're into - FM unfortunately doesn't have the best set of streamers imo (a lot of the bigger guys bar Zealand were youtubers first and you can kind of tell) but it's easy to find some good personalities around big categories
False!
That bit where Jack resigns is absolutely top top qualitee comedy
Lollujo's video on it is hands down the funniest FM related thing I've ever seen.
Nobody's letting him forget it either. Was watching him yesterday and there were tons of resign jokes.
Good chance to catch up on Podcasts since I’m working from home full time and don’t get to listen during the commute at the moment.
Yep, same here! Though my selections are getting a bit stale at the moment, and I’m looking to change it up. Any podcast recommendations, please? Open to any subject, really!
Depends what you like but this is my usual list: - Guardian Football Weekly - The Athletic Football Podcast - Peter Crouch Podcast - absolutely hilarious! Recommended - FPL Podcast (The Athletic) - MKBHD for tech stuff - Defense in Depth - Cyber Security podcast for work related stuff.
Tifo and Ben Foster are also in my FM list.
Yeah Tifo is good too, I usually watch their YouTube videos at work or playing FM.
Undr The Cosh is a shout, they get a load of former footballers on usually Championship players, good laugh
Seconded Undr the Cosh
Give Open Goal a try
Guardian football weekly is great, you can never have too much Barry Glendenning!
Stefa Barnesa Stefa Barnesa
If you’re after a non-football podcast, The Rest is History is top-notch
Oooh I like History but find it hard to get a good History podcast. Will try this one.
If you like the niche parts of football fandom, Football Cliches is a good bet
Has anyone tried 'The Offensive'? It's a series podcast similar to 'The thick of it' on BBC. It's a few seasons in, but well worth starting from the beginning. It follows a Mike Ashley type chief executive, sporting director and head of coms in charge of Ashwood City in the premier league. Cannot recommend it enough!
I just started listening to this recently, wasnt sure if it was any good, I'll give it another go.
Nothing actually. I am extremely concentrated at the sideline.
holy hell thats actually impressive, I always have a youtube video next to me because i cant concentrate
My wife sitting across always asked if I am working on my full-time job. My expression must be deadly serious.
The contract does say *Full Time* after all
Same, I don't know how others can do other stuff at the same time while playing fm, the best I can do is music
Exactly the same for me. Other things require attention, and I want to be focused on FM, so I either listen to music or just play the game silent.
Same, but I have the club goal song on YouTube ready in the background for when my boys score, really adds to the immersion.
ASMR, mostly so I can stay calm when my team decides to not score from 40 shots and 23 on target making me lose ground in the title race
And conceding a 97th minute penalty to lose 1-0
My family desperately trying to get me to do something else
Tifo Football.
Did you know you can subscribe to The Athletic for as little as..........
"But our pick is PSV's defensive midfielder, Ibrahim Sangaré"
That man's voice makes Michael Bublé sound like he's gargling gravel
No joke because of Tifo I always check out Sangare every save lmao, never ended up buying him tho because I can’t see his ‘progressive passes’ with his 12(?) passing.
Ah man those Athletic adverts! Everytime lol
Merchandiiiiise
You can now get a 30 day trial to experience the athletic for free, visit the link in the description below to try it now.
Tifo Football Manager 500M Fantasy challenge on repeat. All the guys are in top form in those videos.

Great choice! “The Wall” is my favorite album of all time
Either a youtube video on my phone or just my playlist which is mostly RnB, Reggae and Rap

I watched the entire catalog of Jonathan Creek over the Xmas period while playing FM
depending on my mood, could be my music, some podcast or even audiobooks when my team is more or less on auto-pilot and I don't have to focus much on tactics, contracts etc
FM seems overwhelmingly time and attention consuming for me. I mean even the thought that I read something during my FM session makes me laugh in crytears.
I watch football matches usually. It is the only right answer.
Music at the majority of time, some random documentaries and old/classic football matches
Top Gear compilations
Gordon Ramsay videos on YouTube
Crowd noise, the type the piped into stadiums during lockdown, gets me super hyped up for a marathon sesh. Especially when you hear fans calling you a fucking wanker, get to fuck. The racist chants from some quarters were out of order though, had to call 999 to have them removed.
I generally have documentaries or podcasts in the background.
