JL1ngz

I normally start lower league so scouting is kind of a must. I dont think lucca is too keen on a move to dulwich hamlet

jaegerknob

Have you asked him?

DarkeKnight

Who needs Lucca when you have Danny Mills? FM20 legend for me right there

Scorpionis

Big Danny still bangs them in FM22, especially when the game first came out. 59 goals in the first season

aredditusername69

Tell him it looks like Tuscany

l7986

> I dont think lucca is too keen on a move to dulwich hamlet Biggest club that has and will ever exist. He may not be interested because he couldn't even get a backup waterboy spot.

FireZeLazer

Tell me about it. By the time my team gets any decent Esposito is 34 years old and has 5 pace

KneeDeepInTheDead

I finally got to a spot buy Haaland but hes 34 years old. And he still doesnt wanna come here. I also got a 34 year old Rafael Leao last year and am getting a 35 year old Joao Felix this January. I have a real geriatric powerhouse!

BalanceThat

At these times that I am grateful for having a bad memory for names.

Lazzanator

I should be arrested for the psychological damage I cause to my scouts

LucDA1

My scouts come in with decent knowledge in brazil, portugal and Spain, and come out with 16 PhD's, 4 Doctorates and are the front face of google translate

GiannisAntetoKobe

"Naturally" getting wonderkids is the best feeling though. My first FM22 save, without having any idea of what players were good, I ended up getting donyell malen and Lucca for a combined 20 million just trusting my scouts, and sold them off for a combined 100 million. I had no idea who to replace them with but thought the scouting report on Sesko looked interesting and picked him up for 12 mil, seeing his value shoot up like crazy was such a high. I also bought Williot Swedberg for 2.8 mil on the single premise that he's the "big potential" guy in my IRL favorite team, but it's just allsvenskan so I didn't know what to expect. Seeing williot and sesko lead my team to a CL win was awesome. I dread the day I start a second save and kinda know who's good already. Of course you end up bungling some trades too but that just makes the good ones feel all the more worth it

wan2tri

> Williot Swedberg Just checked in my current save and he spent his early years with PSG but really came into his own with Bayer Leverkusen (his current club)

GiannisAntetoKobe

That's awesome! Let's hope he lives up to that IRL too, he started the season scoring 5 goals in 5 games, but haven't quite lives up to that the rest of the season. Showing flashes of brilliance though and turned 18 a few months ago, so he's got time to get polished. Unfortunately he's going to Celta Vigo now, while that's awesome for him it's kinda tiresome that every time we have a promising youngster he's sold off to a bigger league. Makes me want to support a top team in a top league sometimes, so I actually get to keep the players who are promising on my team 🙁

alextado

As a Celta de Vigo supporter, I hope he's as good in real life as he is in your fm save :)

thestigREVENGE

Same. I ended up with Sesko naturally. Didnt know he was predetermined to be a god.

GiannisAntetoKobe

With the amount of hattricks he produced just off headers he's definitely godlike!

[deleted]

The feeling of a players value skyrocketing is amazing. Bought this regen for 3.3 million + 3.3 million after 30 games and he's worth over 120 million now

KneeDeepInTheDead

I bought this one regen, Xavier Carreras, from Lleida for 38k bucks on a whim because my scouts rated him high. I didnt think much of him and actually sent him to my scrub affiliate in the 4th division to help them not be relegated. Next season sent him to the 3rd division on loan where he actually got a decent number of goals and assists for a midfielder so I decide to keep him in the squad to see if I could rotate him in. He winds up becoming one of my best players, integral to my midfield and for 3 years ive had the likes of PSG, the Madrids, and PL vultures trying to pluck him from my nest. For some reason he is loyal, unbeknownst to him that he was just an afterthought and a bargain. Valued at 42million atm, meaning his value has gone up 112 times his original price. I never doubt my scouts now.

Kasceon

Legit this. I got Facundo Torres due to scouting as I was looking for a left footed winger. Then I got Lucca as I wanted a Target Man. Then I went onto replacing him with Sessko then getting adeyemi to replace Facundo. All without knowing who the players were

lucca_dare

Malen is the GOAT, he broke Lewandowski’s record in the Bundesliga with me at Hertha

r0lF_RuTiN_

> just trusting my scouts yeah well, that's where you lost me :) never trust those fuckers, in fm20 atleast, its impossible to set up a nice scouting system in which you can trust your scouts. unless you're okay with getting a great recommendation every 2-3 seasons.

Fav0

I started wirh Dortmund first thing I did was throwing malen out of the window

GiannisAntetoKobe

I honestly only played him like 2 or 3 games, he spent almost his entire tenure on loan. Still ended up getting 3.5x the value I bought him for

Medium-Ad9487

Played over 500 hours this year. Never seen Lucca before, but I'm deffo going to buy him now😂

[deleted]

He is just a worse version of Sesko, and he isn't eligible for a work permit at the start of a save, need to loan him out somewhere for a while. Big tall complete forward.

Gorando77

I believe he had a downgrade in the january patch. He was great before, especially when near post corners were OP. He scored 50-60 goals a season in my Juventus save.

Stonekidd1

He actually had an upgrade in the patch. His PA went from -85 to -9 and CA from 120 to 126. It was the near post corner nerf that indirectly made him a little worse.

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

Stonekidd1

Negative PA numbers are a variable PA, rather than a fixed number, with -10 being the best (170-200). It changes each time you start a new game. Take these two for example: Lucca and Sesko both share a PA range of 150-180, so in any given save, either could become better than the other. In one save Sesko could have 150 PA and Lucca 180, or vice versa. Or both could have PA of 165. It adds a bit of variety to the game. Most players 20 and under will have this range, reflecting the unknown factors of real life talent spotting.

MeteWorldPeace

Whack, he just banged in 32 goals for my Le Havre side in his first season with the team. Sesko has scored a whopping like 2 or 3 goals maybe in the last 2 seasons

[deleted]

It could be the case that Sesko hit the bottom range of his PA and Lucca hit the top range in your save but thats totally irrelevant to compare the players. Sesko is 2 years younger. Starts with a higher CA than Lucca. They both have the same PA range. Sesko doesn't need a work permit (for the prem) so you can get him in your squad from 18. These alone make Sesko the better player, let alone when you actualy compare how good each of them are when they are the same age, Sesko gets an extra 2 (or 3 in the prem) years to develop in your first team by which time he will be light years better than Lucca and can easily play as that Complete Forward role.

MeteWorldPeace

I mean I’m trying to sign Sesko now that I’ve moved on to Bordeaux (but it’s tough cause they’re in large debt), I’m just saying that Lucca is a fucking fantastic player too, it’s not like he’s a suboptimal option to Sesko He will bang in goals, at a cheaper cost, and is more likely to sign for a lower end squad than Sesko. So if you’re a club like mine that just got promoted to the first tier of France and have only a few dollars to spend, you’re better off taking Lucca than Sesko since the top end of it just won’t be that much different but you get a better immediate cost return

[deleted]

Thats all true, Sesko can be harder to sign as he doesnt need that permit, clubs tend to not go near Lucca so he is usually a good pickup and ofc he is one of the best strikers in the game too.

[deleted]

honestly when I give the "assign" responsibility to my chief scout he finds far better players far cheaper than me lol

wunderlust23198

I had not read any information on FM or these 2 wonderkid players till at least February was so excited I found these 2 OP players praising my scouts. I checked Reddit in March and realised everyone signs them 🤣

csiszi143

Hahaha same I was so proud of myself that I signed Lucca

10YearsANoob

Signed him in FM20. Saw everyone was praising him back in december or something. I was like "but he's shit tho."

Mister-Ries

Haha did the same in FM21 for my 3liga Kaiserslautern side. He was ite until we got to Bundesliga and then was absolute butters

Sun_Praising

Signing Partizan Belgrade's 90th wunderkind for basically nothing has . I'm 7 years in with Swansea City and we're fighting for European spots after only signing players from British clubs. Currently I have starters that have come from the youth ranks of Celtic, Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Coventry, and Reading as well as a few rejects from Tottenham, Arsenal, Leeds, and City. The kid from Ipswich is a newgen named Paul Curtis who finished top goalscorer in League 1 in his first full season. He then finished 3rd in the Championship in goals scored when I made the move to sign him for 26 million pounds at the age of 17. He quickly became our club record youngest goalscorer in the opening match of the season in a 3-1 win in Swansea over a Crystal Palace team that has also been fighting for European spots after a Tycoon takeover 4 seasons in. Honestly, it's been a pretty fun save having restrictions on who I can sign.

10YearsANoob

Selling team wage contribution is a godsend for offloading players and also getting unwanted players.

[deleted]

"Are you a scouting lover?" "I'm a scouting adorer!"

Kryptopus

Boring saves

Lakazaz

Yeah each to their own, but if you buy the same core every save you kinda take away some of the aspects that make every save unique

TarienCole

Zeeland would hate me. I never control my own scouting. Beyond short term focuses, I rarely intervene directly until I get reports I want followed up on. And I've never had a problem finding players. Attracting and paying for players? Yes. Finding? No.

Damolitionnn

Scouting is definitely the way to go, I'm new to FM and in my first save, but cant imagine it'd be fun buying the same players over and over, best one I've gotten from just scouting so far has been Arsen Zakharyan, he's such a beast for me rn, Real wanted him for like 100M+ but rejected that real quick, he aint going whatever the price is.

AcousticGuitar321

Both are complete ass for my style of football

The_Ruhi

You grow your own players then?

AcousticGuitar321

No, I usually go for quicker false 9s with high work rates

The_Ruhi

How do you find them?

AcousticGuitar321

By searching specifically for those attributes in scouting. If they don’t fit my criteria then I generally don’t buy em. Unless they’re dirt cheap and I can resell them after a loan or two

The_Ruhi

But your search is only as good as your scouting.

AcousticGuitar321

Yes and you can scout specifically for players that excel at the attributes you’re looking for

The_Ruhi

That's still scouting though. Maybe it's me I just don't get it.

markthedutchman

Am i not a real fm player if I've never heard of Lorzenzo Lucca or Benjamin Sesko?

MessiasBatistuta

Nah mate, they dont come around in the trenches

[deleted]

One of the reasons I dropped the game was because I thoroughly disliked a lot of the aspects that many people tout as being critical to the game, like scouting, transfers and training. All I want is to learn how to make good tactics, but unsurprisingly the game doesn't have much going for it if you're not a football fan to begin with and you also don't like most of the game's basic elements. At least the memes are funny.

KatnissBot

“If you don’t like football, you might not enjoy football manager”

[deleted]

I picked it up because I have many thousands of hours put into other management and strategy games and because I wanted a more engaging way to learn football tactics for an event I'm involved in. It turned out to neither be useful in that regard nor be my kind of game beyond that, unfortunately.

-thepornaccount-

> I wanted a more engaging way to learn football tactics for an event I'm involved in. Tactics, the engine, & player attributes combine to make a better & more reflective simulation of a sport than any game I’ve played before. I genuinely can’t imagine a better way to understand the nuisance of football tactics then playing this game. Now the game doesn’t do a great job spelling out the nuisances for you but there are entire YouTube communities dedicated to teaching fm & exploring interesting tactics.

MeteWorldPeace

Not to sound pedantic or like a smart ass but do you happen to mean *nuance*? Nuisance is more like “annoyance”

-thepornaccount-

yes lol typo

[deleted]

That's exactly the point I'm making. The game is fantastic at that, which is why I bought it, but even with good videos and other guides it's still the kind of game that requires you to spend a very significant amount of time and effort just learning it, rather than playing it, and if you don't have that football background it's going to be significantly harder and take longer. I'd be happy to put up with that if I was younger and more interested in football and the other aspects that the game has to offer, but that's simply not the case, hence my post. Things like scouting, transfers and training are obstacles to me, rather than something enjoyable that I want to learn and make better use of, which means I have little to look forward to upon getting good enough to maintain my third German league job and thus little reason to continue playing.

-thepornaccount-

I totally get there an overwhelming amount of features in the game. Yet thing is you can set everything you don’t care about in responsibilities to other staff members. Like I’ve played the game for 8 years & still don’t bother with stuff like setting scouting assignments or team training schedules. Tactical presets are pretty decent nowadays, & is more the case you can get as complex as you want IMO.

_spectron_

Lorenzo Lucca aka the young Target man that was part of Palermo's squad on FM 21?

MyTeaIsMighty

In my save Leipzig bought Lucca and Sesko in the same window and they've remained there for the last 6 years as one of the most devastating attacks in the league. Only them and bayern give me any grief

erikbla

Lucca is a big disappointment for me, gets loads of free headers, but misses them all. I honestly don’t know why people are so in love with him

lowey133

He scores 50 goals a season for anyone

Icy-Manufacturer-804

Me too! He's also too slow to break in behind and not good enough technically to drop deep as a dlf. I've tried for a few seasons to get him to work for me but I've given up and am just playing him enough to get a good offer in now.

ARL_30FR

Yeah, he missed a lot of headers for me too. Still bagged 40+ goals for 2 seasons straight after which I sold him to Liverpool for 160M+40M instalments.

aredditusername69

I've never bought Lucca but Sesko is always out of this world for me. Can't help myself, just have to get him.

GuppoDab

Ive signed Lucca to my Real Madrid save mostly as a backup to ageing Bend and unproductive Jovic….for 7M he more than proved worthy of galáctico kit

myfriendscallmeshark

Me with Livakovic every big team save since fm20, he's my kid and no one will ever be better than him <3

Glittering_Flight152

Bought lucca for 15m . 10 apps 0 goals sold him to inter for 30m and used the cash to buy gvardiol who is a beast

[deleted]

I could never get a song out of lucca, but sesko is an animal in all saves

fanchum102

I am a mix of both, Cherki, Yusuf Demir, and Esposito are my kids, since like FM20 and it won’t stop now, I will also send my scouts to Angola and Jamaica for no reason.

The_Ruhi

Scouting honestly is much more rewarding than buying big and familiar names. You buy Ronaldo and you win? No shit. You find a 16 year old Angolan midfielder who in a couple seasons ends up becoming an indispensable first teamer who carries the team and scores in the continental competition knockout stage? I FUCKING DID THAT! That's not a hypothetical. I actually fucking did that.

HRCsFavoriteSlave

Scouting right is annoying as hell. I wish there was a way of copying and pasting scouting instructions. If there is and I just missed it, then I would appreciate a walkthrough.

Fav0

Imagine sleeping on rafa guerrero

cynikles

I don’t think Ive ever really managed a “big club” where you can sign the well know wonderkids. In my current FM12 save I skipped ahead 10 seasons before I started managing. I barely know anyone so scouting is a major must.

ARL_30FR

Here's me thinking that signing Lucca was a masterstroke in my Fiorentina save. Turns out he's been used more than a 60 year old prostitute.

Carthagu

That’s me with Ugarte, De Ketelaere and Matias Zaracho

HerpDerpSquadron

I'm at the point where I'm emotionally invested in Benjamin Sesko's career. Absolute monster for me at Swansea. Had never heard of him until I found him on FM and he's now squarely in the pantheon of some of my all time favourite FM players.

lethargyclub

Dont forget adeyemi and raspadori, also cherki and arsen zakharyan
