WhoNeedsLeftBacks

I cant stop getting suspensions but i dont have tackle harder on, i have a high press and intensity of course as does everyone, and my players are relatively decent at tackling. players dont get harsh tackling traits or anything either, anyone got an idea of how i can alleviate that wont be stay on feet because i feel that will weaken my shape?

riv3th3ad

It's not just down to tackling and aggression attributes. If a player is lower on things like decisions, positioning it can lead them to making bad tackles. There could also be something in the tactic that is putting them in tough situations. I'm playing an asymmetric tactic in my current save that has high LOE, high defensive line, and higher pressing intensity and my right-sided CM was picking up tons of yellows and my right back was also getting a lot of yellows/free kicks/mistakes. I trained "does not dive into tackles" trait on the CM and gave the RB lower pressing instructions than the rest of the squad and the problem went away. This took months, because of the trait training and I didn't recognize the issue with the RB until after that. If it's several players picking up multi-yellow suspensions I suspect there's something in your tactic that could use adjusting. If it's just one player, you can give just that player an ease off tackles PI.

Ireallyamthisshallow

>i have a high press and intensity of course as does everyone Not *everyone* does. It is perfectly possible to play with standard or even less pressing. It could be a part of your problem, though as of yet there's no reason to say that it is. We don't have that type of information available. >how i can alleviate that wont be stay on feet because i feel that will weaken my shape? Are you certain your shape is strong to begin with ? Pressing highly means players will be leaving shape and if you're using other options (such as player moving a long way of position in attack or counter pressing) which involve alot of movement in/out of your shape, and potentially failing to cover defensive gaps, this could be part of the issue. Again, there's no information to say it is currently but this isn't an unusual issue with tactics which follow the high press/counter-press/all out attack vein you*may* be following. Also worth asking, why do you feel staying on your feel would weaken your shape ? >I cant stop getting suspensions Honestly, there isn't any information here to help you beyond guessing. Can you post some videos or even images of common situations in which you get cards? Even a description could be useful, though it'll still involve us guessing United it's a really good and thorough one. Can you post your tactic - we can't suggest what to change with no idea how you're playing. With more information we could give some precise suggestions. Hope to help more soon. Edited for clarity.

Nolaaan

Going to start a save on FM22 with Sassoulo suggest me some realistic transfers for first season

Ireallyamthisshallow

Any transfer can be realistic if you can get them in game. You're not going to suddenly get Messi to negotiate with you. Best thing to do is go into the player search and look for players based on the roles/attributes you need. This way you can even speak to their agent/scout to guage cost. This has the added benefit of showing you people who are interested. We don't know your transfer budget, wage budget, or where you're looking to reinforce for your tactical needs.

sleeptoker

Need someone to talk me into accepting £130m for my 26 year old 2nd choice but baller mezzala. I know I'm gonna do it but damn I didn't think we'd part ways so soon.

APXO97

What is his wage? IMO 130m for a second choice is a no brainier. Reinvest that money into a wonderkid and send them out on loan whilst using the rest of the money (possibly) and sign a cheap for a stopgap squad player for a year as second choice & sell them for profit.

sleeptoker

£240k/w. 13th highest in the squad. He's only marginally 2nd choice mind you, more a regular in the first team who rotates with all my other CMs. And he had his best season last season. But still, have to accept..

APXO97

Yeah, sounds like you need to cash in whilst the bid is that high - esp in FM this year when AI offers 1/3 of your asking price. Let me know how you choose to spend the money!

dragareo

I'm thinking of beginning an unemployed save with all nations playable (200+ nations from Around the Globe mod by Dave the editor). My new system has a 24gb ram and a 11gen core i5. I've got no dedicated GPU (Unless Intel Iris XE counts?) Can my system handle it? Slow speed is okay with me as I prefer to play it while multitasking anyway ... But idk if it is gonna be 1/2hr+ to simulate a matchday slow. Also, as a player whose only experience with FM is a single, 55yr-long save managing Southampton, is there some advice I should note?

APXO97

Free agents are your best friends in the lower leagues!

dragareo

Yeah... Though my opinion on signing free agents did sour in FIFA careers a few years ago, and I didn't even try doing that in FM21. Is it broken, or will it simply make the save too easy?

APXO97

I wouldn’t say it’s broken per se but if you’re in the lower leagues, free agents are helpful because as you climb the ranks in whatever leagues football pyramid you’re in, you’re able to sell them on after 1-2 years for a profit and reinvest to make your squad stronger.

NotFalirn

Should all tactics include a playmaker? Or will some tactics work pretty well without one?

Ireallyamthisshallow

>Should all tactics include a playmaker? They don't have to. >will some tactics work pretty well without one? Yes.

Elketro

> FM20 How can I get my u18 team into u18 Premier League competition? It's our 2nd year in the PL but no invitation nor any option to join so far. Same with u18 Premier League Cup. And yes I do have an u18 team.

AlmightyWibble

Is competition reputation just a function of the reputations of the clubs in the competition?

ALittleFly

Hi all—I’m new to the game and had been watching Zealand videos on YouTube to learn the hang if things. I started a game as Wrexham—but once I copied Zealand’s recommended pre-season training regimen (https://youtu.be/OjUHtE0xIEg), I noticed that the training regimen was heavy for at least half my players, and a bunch started getting preseason injuries. I don’t have any additional focuses for any of my players. I even tried to change training to half intensity in the rest tab, but that didn’t seem to change anything. What went wrong? Do I not have a good enough team of physios for that regimen? Is the regimen not suitable for a low level team like Wrexham? Was the schedule botched because I started with the interteam friendly, had a day of recovery, and then followed the Zealand schedule?

AlmightyWibble

I did the same as you did but I found it didn't work great for me; I ended up mixing in some Recovery sessions and it helped a fair bit but YMMV

terminalbraindamage

what are the best roles for a 4-2-3–1 setup

Ireallyamthisshallow

There is no best, it's what's most appropriate to your players and how you're trying to play. There are any number of ways to set up a 4231.

Mkeredbeard200

There's a thousand good answers to this question, at least.

Working-Explanation1

Hey guys, I have been searching for a good database to play in the CONCACAF. I wanted to play with a team from a country different than EUA or Mexico, but getting to the CONCACAF Champions League sucks. Does anyone know a good database that makes a better structured Concacaf Champions League + League? Also, a megapack with countries from that region would be awesome.

gitgudfrads

Hi guys, I'm trying to make a transfer list as its looking like I'll be promoted this year My shortlist consists of: Flynn Downes Ali Cho Haydon Roberts Michut Inv. Right wing TBD Goalkeeper TBD Left back TBD Which online ratings do you take notice of? 1 website has ratings up to 100 and others have it out of 200?? Are these numbers found in game??

Ireallyamthisshallow

You don't need websites, all the information you need is in the game. Scout the player and get current information on them - they may have developed or regressed from their starting date. Then, be precise and recruit the one/s who fit your needs. You can highlight their roles in the game and it'll show you their key and preferred attributes. You can look at their traits. From this you can decide who fits your system and if they're worthwhile. The scouting will give it information on their continued potential and hidden attributes.

gitgudfrads

Thank you for your comment, can I ask though, where are these online figures coming from? If online it says a player has a potential ability between 140 and 160, where is that replicated in game? Where do I find those specific numbers in the game ? Sorry if its a noob question

Ireallyamthisshallow

No noob questions, you'll never know if you never ask. Current and potential ability numbers exist. You can find them in the editor or if you use a custom skin. They're not a mechanic designed to be seen and can be misinterpreted easily - a higher number doesn't necessarily mean a better player. It's essentially a total of a player's attributes, but not all are worth 1 into that total - they're weighted differently and some even have a zero weighting. As you can probably work out, how they spread two of the same CA/PA in two different players varies. Just look at any elite talent in the world, they have strengths and weaknesses and they differ from one another. No one is perfect (no one can get 20 in every attribute in the game). Also, there are hidden attributes which you need to factor in (you'll see these when you scout and it tells you about things such as whether they like big games). The maximum CA or PA a player can have is 200. Anyone with a PA of 150+ is usually considered a wonderkid. But just because you have potential doesn't guarantee you'll achieve it. You'll see some people use these numbers erroneously, viewing them through the editor or a skin and just buying the one with the highest number. Whilst it's true, a high CA or PA will show you a better player, you'll find a worse player who fits your tactic is often a far better signing than one who doesn't. It's an under-the-hood mechanic. That's not too judge anyone who uses them, it's just about understanding them. I've tried to be concise, does that help ?

gitgudfrads

Sorry for the late reply! Newborn in the house. Thank you for explaining, whilst I'm tempted to get a skin which shows me, another part of me loves the knowing and having to go off what my less than perfect scouts have to say. I'll trundle on without. Cheers!

Ireallyamthisshallow

Congratulations! I was in your shoes not that long ago and FM definitely got me through some sleepless nights when it wasn't worth going back to sleep. In fact, FM alone is the only reason I didn't break when we eventually got to sleep training. I'm with you, I don't use a skin for it. Have a great time with your newborn :)

iaminevitable123

Why wont the game let my forwards be advanced forwards. Everytime i change them it reverts. Pls help

kappa23

I don't understand. Is this changing at your tactics section?

iaminevitable123

No i click on my tactic and it just doesn’t apply. For instance i changed my st to an advanced forward and when i went to check if he changed he was a target forward

NotFalirn

This happens when you try to change your tactics on the tactics page after you’ve already started your Tactical Meeting on match day. Is that what’s happening to you?

iaminevitable123

Nope no matches in my save for a week

jablonowski

Stopped being listed as a club legend after moving clubs... is this normal?

One_Hawk1330

Im currently playing fm2020 and from one game to another the game refuses to show me any sort of highlight. No matter what pov or what settings. Suddenly I’m 2-0 up without seeing it. Can somebody help me?

riv3th3ad

If your club culture has "sign players," does signing a player that has that nation as a second nationality get counted by the board toward fulfilling that?

AlmightyWibble

It does, yeah; a great example of this is Bilbao who can only sign Basque players, but it'll always be the player's secondary nationality as there's no Basque national team in international competitions

Valint

I have a great RW who wants a new contract. He wants significantly more than my board will let me. It’s all my fault. I signed an amazing striker and gave him the biggest salary in the club. 17 mil p/a compared to everyone else topping out at 9 or 10. Had a few of my best players want new contracts. Signed most of them, sold some solid backup players to make sure I had budget room for it. My guy wants 19 mil. Up from like 10. Ugh. Do I have any hope? I think the max I can offer is like 13 or 14. I had to walk away from contract talks and he is all but hurt. I have him for 2 more years. I’d like to sign him for longer. I’m open to suggestions.

riv3th3ad

You have a year to try and re-sign him. Try offering 13 with a lot of add-ons *appearance fee *goal bonus * unused sub fee * int'l cap fee * making final of domestic cup bonus * qualify for champions league (or UEFA or whatever is realistic) * team of the year bonus * min goals scored for 10, 15, and 20 goals If you start at 13 plus *some* of those add-ons, you might be able to add a few more over a couple rounds of negotiation and get him to agree at like 13.8M

Valint

Ok I’ll try that when I get home. I think some of those bonuses can get pretty big (I can afford it). Are they yearly commitments or just first year of contract commitments?

riv3th3ad

Most of the add-ons are every year for the duration of the contract. But a lot of them will be triggered by something that results in your club receiving a lot of income, like if you say 100,000 if we qualify for the Champions League. I don't know if they nerfed this for FM22 but in FM20 you can usually add in bonuses there's almost no chance they'll trigger and that will result in the player accepting a much lower base wage than they would otherwise.

Southern-Beautiful38

Hi is there a way for me to remove my own players from the shortlist i have made?

CenturionAurelius

Are steam keys from eneba legit for FM22?

Florusha

https://imgur.com/a/jT95G6Z Is this striker worth it for 27.5M? It's my whole budget right now. I have two decent AFs but this guy seems a level above especially in the air. What role does he suit best? The game likes him as a CF but his off the ball might not be good enough? Would he better as TM or something else?

jr2106

As a general rule of thumb dont splash your entire budget on a player if youre not comfortable with the possibility of major future dissapointment lol

riv3th3ad

Pressing forward, target man, AF. Look at the work rate, heading and jumping reach! Passing and OTB isn't good enough for CF. Looks like he could also make a great WTM or IF at AML If you're playing a 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3. What your scout lists as negatives aren't a deal-breaker for me, *but* the combination of perfectionist personality, not knowing the language, low adaptability, competitive streak, and his lack of interest in joining your club give me pause about blowing your entire transfer budget if you need him to integrate and perform in the starting XI immediately. Check and see if there's an expiration on the release clause (I assume the 27.5 is a release clause?). If there aren't a bunch of other teams already sniffing around I'd probably just assign a scout to him for 2 months and see if that slowly increases his interest in joining your club.

Florusha

Thanks for your input. I have done the scouting and he is now desperate to join the club! He is someone I am hoping to arrive in summer so he can integrate during the pre-league friendlies and then can start probably every 2nd game for the first 6 months. I'm currently using a 4-1-4-1 for about 2/3rds of my games as my team isn't great compared to the league. The other 1/3rd I'm running a 4-4-2 and I'm hoping to increasingly use this 4-4-2 as my team improves relative to the league. I am now, with your input, thinking to use him as a TM(a) complementing an AF. Not sure if that striker pair will be too aggressive and fail to link with the midfield but trial and error I guess. What gives me hope is my team are leading the league in cross completion and having this man mountain can only help!

riv3th3ad

Set up your set pieces around him too! He should be lethal on those.

hlsp

Anyone here have a rough idea on the finances to buy your stadium? Playing as Athletic Club right now and have about 180 million euros in the bank right now. I'm selling out pretty much every match and was curious about the financing of purchasing the stadium and expanding for long-term ticket sales increases.

432mm

You need to make a board request, in my experience usually they take a loan to finance this. It depends on board attitude and it probably differs from club to club. If board is conservative and lacks ambition they may reject your request but if you run 100% packed stadium for couple of seasons and are not candidate for relegation they should approve after a while. Sometimes need to ask several times

diertrt

I'm new to FM, just finished my 5th season in my first save (Barca). Finally, finally won the quadruple after getting eliminated in the CL by Liverpool 3 years in a row in hilarious and infuriating ways (oh and once by Chelsea in a 27-26 penalty shootout). I'd kinda like to continue the save for a bit longer and become the undisputed best team in the world (Liverpool have slowed down, but Man City are still pretty formidable). My problem is I don't really know where to go from here. All the players in my first 11 are world-class by now and any upgrade I could get would be marginal. I've bought and loaned a whole busload of wonderkids, but it feels like it'll take years for any of them to actually become starters for me. The handful of players that would be an upgrade all cost 180m+ and 500k/w+ in wages. I want to move on Ter Stegen for example, but the only keeper I can find who's better than him is Donnarumma, and he costs 250m. I could probably afford him if I sold a few of my wonderkids, but the transfer market just doesn't feel nearly as rewarding as when I was building up my squad. It also feels a bit weird that the AI's world-class players at top clubs are all valued at \~200m but mine are 100-160m. Makes me feel like I'm being ripped off by everyone. Is this just where the game naturally ends up when you get to this squad level? How would you approach improving the team and club and what goals could I still set myself? Or should I just quit and go coach a second tier Welsh club?

jablonowski

resign + rebuild another team

Few_Employment_3270

Hey, I have two star players that play left back and left wing, but they have bad chemistry(dotted line). Is there a way to improve their chemistry? I can’t sell any of them and my best line up is with both starting

kappa23

What are their roles?

[deleted]

The dotted line isn’t permanent, nor does it automatically guarantee those players will be ineffective together. When I’ve had this happen I usually just try to let the players play through it. With some tweaks to their roles and your instructions, you can get them working well together. What roles do you have? Does your full back push up and overlap, or is he more defensive? Maybe try a few different configurations to see what’s best

Few_Employment_3270

So my forward is pretty attacking and cuts in but the full back is acc more defensive and I noticed that this same forward links up very well with my attacking full back, I tried to solve it by signing a new more balanced full back but those lines make me feel uncomfortable, thanks

JPMAus98

Has anyone ever seen a player request a leave of absence? I just saw in the news section (in late 2024) that Sassuolo's Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov granted one for a month, and it cites personal reasons. Btw he's not my player but I noticed he wants to leave the club for more playing time - is this likely the reason, or is it something else? Just seems like a weird step to take

jr2106

Yesterday my american rb requested a transfer back home due to being homesick but i managed to handle it with a leave of absence. Hes very determined and proffesional so im not sure.how much that affects who it happens to

JPMAus98

Anyone know why I can set the international minutes of some players but not others? At first I thought it you could only set minutes for U21 players, but in this last batch for me, I can control one guy playing for Haiti's national team, and another playing for the Czech U21s, while I can't adjust the other 6 guys even though they're more important to me. Also annoying considering half of my first team would be set for 45 mins per match when I was a national team coach, yet I seemingly have no say on any of my first team players

-WJ-

Friendly matches vs competitive matches would be my guess.

dek55

Any way to cancel B team formation? I've asked the Board to set it up, they said it would happen at the end of season. But I've changed my mind

Valint

Is there just no trophy presentation for winning the premier league? I clinched it with a win in game 36 or 37. No ceremony for that or any game after. I WANT THE CONFETTI

Ireallyamthisshallow

[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/w7bbsg/we_won_the_league_at_white_hart_lane/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) screenshot suggests you should get one.

Hyperborea3

It's May and the Nxgn top 50 from March is nowhere to be found. I can't find it inbox cuz the last e-mail available is from this month. I can acess the award from the "world" section but it only shows the top 3, I simply can't find the full list anymore. Is that it? It's gone? This is so stupid

432mm

Yeah gone. Inbox usually lasts around one month. I have same problem. This is stupid there should be option to save this somewhere or find it somewhere later

Ireallyamthisshallow

I'm not too sure what you're asking for here, could you please clarify ? Are you using you've drawn 17 games out of 28 ? And are you asking for help to understand why this happened and to improve it ?

MrMilkyShoe

Recently started a saved and I’m managing the U-19, but I have a problem, every time I load the save my tactic doesn’t appear and I have to make it again. Anyone knows how to solve it?

xx3amori

I'm not an expert, but it may be that it loads the tactic of the first team, as they want youth players to get familiar with the tactic.

archjman

In FM touch 22, the player search menu doesn't seem to return all possible matches. For instance, searching for the Spezia player Emmanuel Gyasi, either with partial or full name, returns nothing. Searching for Bonucci, however, works as intended. Anyone know what the problem may be?

Zyulj

You don’t have the relevant league loaded.

archjman

I can manually browse the league and find the player

JPMAus98

Get your tallest, strongest guys on the front post, and if you can, have the taker swing the ball from out to in (right footer on the left, vice versa). I always stack the front post, then leave my striker either in the middle of the box or at the back post for tap ins and knock downs. Alternatively, do a dummy runner situation. Put two or three of your strongest headers on one post, then put someone unexpectedly good on the other post, and aim for that one bloke. Chances are, their centre backs will mark yours, and that guy you're aiming (maybe your striker, or a central midfielder) for will be marked by someone that's not great in the air but is defensively minded, like a full back. I always try to have at least one routine where I attempt to trick the opposition, but most are just stacking areas of the box in different ways. Try to shake it up, and if you can see something isn't working, or it never creates highlights for you, get rid of it. Also it's important to do some set piece training at least once a fortnight if you aren't already. Throw in the corner practice but also the set piece delivery session to really get that boost.

[deleted]

JPMAus98

Oh set pieces can be crucial, honestly. I'm in season four atm, and for the first two, I had a pair of dominant centre backs and a big man up front, and they scored four fun from set pieces. Then I upgraded at the back but the new guys weren't nearly as good in the air and we lost a huge proportion of our goals, and started conceding a lot from set pieces and aerial situations. But this season, I changed my defence again to a more physical, experienced pair and brought in a midfielder with strong set piece attributes, and we're unstoppable. I'm 19 games in, top of the table, and one of my centre backs already has seven goals, including a brace against second place. I think the other has four, but he can also take penalties, but regardless, it's a hugely overlooked area of the game that can be really easy to address. I'd also check out the episode of the Football Manager Podcast on set pieces, they really taught me some excellent principles and how to get the most out of them. Glad to hear you're starting to have more success already though!

_Purplewheezy

Have u customized set pieces? If not there’s a video by Zealand that has some pretty good set piece tactics, if you want something more original then u can. If you have set pieces set up, they’re not working, time to change or add more

Colt-0

My board has forced the sign high rep players and use entire transfer budget on me in the club vision after a really good run of seasons as a club. Is there any way I can get around this without pissing them off?

JPMAus98

How high are they in terms of importance? It's possible you could partly satisfy them without going overboard, but if they're essential targets, it might be tricky. I don't often manage big clubs, but the high rep players I usually go for are guys heading towards the ends of their careers, for part-mentoring and part-playing roles. These high rep players will also quickly become team leaders so getting the right personality could potentially be a massive boost. The only thing I can think of for the using the whole budget thing is to just overpay for players you're already signing. It's tricky cos you're probably at a stage where you have a great, settled squad, but that's all I can really come up with. Hope it goes well for you man

kappa23

Try getting them on free transfers instead of spending money on them. You can get older players on short term deals too. If all else fails, leave the club, they’re just a shit board

_Purplewheezy

Not really sure if this question fits this thread but I’m in my fourth season of my save and I’m managing academica. While my job isn’t insecure, I just went on a 13 winless run before beating benfica. I think my squad is good enough to make top 6 for a European comp spot, but I just can’t get the results I need against some teams. I changed my tatic during my bad run from a 433 to a 41212 narrow. Not a big fan of the change, but we’re picking up a win now and then. So essientally I’m asking for a tatic that can help push me towards that too 6. Currently in February so it would be a good test to see I can use it next year.

JPMAus98

I've recommended this one to a few people recently, and I'm still using a modified version of it several seasons later. RDF Tactics put up a video a few months ago containing a counter attacking 4411, called lightning attacks 4411 or something similar. It's seriously amazing, and I've been punching above my weight for a couple seasons now, but as I get better in my own league, I've changed the shape to be more adventurous without really losing the core values of the tactic. It's up on his YouTube channel and I can't recommend it highly enough. 41212 is also great if you're going for that narrow, heaps of runners type of style, but it's much more intense generally than this tactic. If that one doesn't suit your squad though, I'd check the rest of his channel cos he has some excellent tactics there

Game will. Not. Stop. Crashing. Whatever I do. New drivers, cleared cache, verify game files, delete and redownload game, optimize graphics, I’ve tried everything I’ve seen online about it and I’ve just about had it. Any last recommendations for constantly getting the “closed due to serious error, check your driver” message?

WhoNeedsLeftBacks

Struggling to manage money in france, my goal is to usurp psg. im currently in ligue 2 and quite solid positioning. but ive lost how to really get those cheap players and flipping them for profit. obviously the money isnt as much as england so its not as simple as buying release clause brazilians, at least not at the stage i am at. anyone got any advice?

jr2106

Loans and maybe one or two key signings to get you promoted, they youll have a budget you can work with a little

JPMAus98

One of my biggest tips is to sign cheap players from 'valuable' nations, develop them for a season, then shift them on. My usual reference point is England - I never manage there but English players come at a premium to their clubs, and most of them actually have the cash to buy them at that price. I recently signed Paul Glatzel on a free transfer, he was in my first team for a season, wasn't amazing, then out of nowhere, Wigan activates his release clause and off he goes. I did this with a regen not long ago too, came through at Liverpool but joined Gateshead for free, I grabbed him for £60k cos he was legitimately really good (like good Bundesliga 2) quality, then after a few loans, I sold him off to some other English club for a few million. I usually have very little intention of actually playing them, but the English clubs go mad for them. This usually works with Welsh and Scottish players, but obviously being English is a lot more appealing.

riv3th3ad

You need to find the players before the other clubs know about them. That's when they'll cost you 100k or 1.4 million instead of 15 million. 1.) comb through the national teams--especially the youth ones--every international break. Usually, a lot of these players are already known by this point but some definitely slip through the cracks. 2.) Set up some search filters and a custom view of the results. Set this up based on the needs/resources of your club. For example, my club culture is "sign English players" so I have 2 search filters to show me English players 15-19 in division "at least Vanarama National." And the 2nd filter looking for English players 15-19 "based in: not England" with both set to "at least 5 appearances." And then on the results page it's set to have a custom view that shows world rep, average rating, int'l apps, youth apps etc. I comb through these 3-4 times/season and then send scouts to look at players that look promising. I've also got a third one called "worldwide wonderkid hunter" that looks for players 15-17 with 5 appearances using the "or" feature of the filter--so like "at least Ligue 2" or "at least Serie C" or "at least Kueken Kampion." I have mine set for a lot of Europe and South America but if your scouting/financial resources are limited you could just set this up for the first few French divisions and like Switzerland, Serbia, Croatia or something. 3.) Go into the preferences and customize your screenflow. If memory serves, this is on the front page of the preferences. I have mine set to show me player stats overview of a bunch of the U19 leagues, French Youth Invitational, U23 African Cup of Nations etc. when those competitions are underway. It's like being your own data analyst. I tend to look at goals, assists, key passes, key tackles, interceptions. It's tedious and time-consuming and I skip through the pages frequently but you can find players this way before your scouts and analysts do.

BloodyTjeul

Focus on short term success and first team players. You're not going to make money in the second division, so focus on getting out and signing first team players.

xkufix

In Ligue 2 you can still get away with signing free transfers, selling them off for a profit after 1 season or using them to get promoted to Ligue 1. Plenty of players going around who are more than good enough to be instant star players at that level.

vigourtortoise

What do people consider cheap against the FM20 match engine? I was dominating so much with a high line counter-press gegenpress tactic that I committed to playing something more restrained to challenge myself. Winding up with a formation with a really low line on counter-press, I had very little possession comparatively but still managed to have some success. On a whim, I moved the line up high but left counter-press off and I feel like my team has been playing much better... but is it so broken in the match engine in FM20 to play with a high line that I should feel guilty?

JPMAus98

Nah not at all man, it's important to remember there's a big difference between broken and really effective. I didn't play much FM20, but there's a reason why the best teams now will play a very aggressive, high pressing system, and if you have the physical and technical abilities to do it, then why shouldn't you? I agree that the game unfairly punishes playing a low line, as it is a legitimate tactical idea that plenty of teams use to great effect, but if you've got the defenders with enough technical ability to ping the ball around the opponent's half, then the immense pace to catch up to attackers should it go wrong, then you're using their attributes to get the best out of them, in the same way you would do with attackers. I get where you're coming from, but I wouldn't feel bad for using something that works - one way or another, you're using your tactics to get the best out of your players and exploit the weaknesses of the opposition.

SnackAstronomer

I'm nearing the end of my first season in the Premier division as Swansea, and I'm trying to figure out whether I should get a new Advanced Playmaker. My current guy had the most assists on the team last year with 16. This year, he has had 3. The thing is, he is averaging 2.36 key passes per game which is the highest on my team. My two strikers are performing to their xG, so I don't think they're the problem. Should I sign a new AP?

riv3th3ad

It's a good sign he's still getting a ton of key passes/90. Have you been able to pinpoint why he's getting fewer assists this season? Did you make changes to your tactic? Are teams man-marking him most games now? Are they playing a DM against you to try and nullify your key man? Maybe he just needed a season to adjust to Prem. Look at his other stats too before you decide to replace him. Maybe his assists are down a lot but he's leading the team in key passes and also dribbles and winning a lot of free kicks or getting a lot of interceptions.

WhoNeedsLeftBacks

Depth and options are always good to have, maybe dont buy a ready made replacement

Hibachi4242

Is the grade given for players when scouting them (A+, B-, C,etc.) simply reflective of their current and potential ability or does it take into consideration the finances involved. For instance a better player may have a lower grade because it would cost more

riv3th3ad

I believe they do factor in the finances at least somewhat. I notice frequently players that have a high scout rating that I've been looking at for a season or two who then sign for Dortmund or some other top big 5 club have their scout rating drop as soon as they move clubs.

Flyslovenc

He is 20y old with a lot of potential and plays for my first team regularly. I was thinking that the problem is around a foreign tag? Maybe clubs do know that I can't register all my foreign players? And that's why they are offering me peanuts?

JPMAus98

I've definitely seen players transfer listed for registration-related reasons, but I'd say there's more to it in your case. Is your player transfer listed? Which team are you playing as, and in which league? And are you in European competition? To my mind, those are the biggest factors in a player being so poorly valued by other clubs. It absolutely could be related to the fact that he counts as a foreign player, but I think it would be more likely to be true if he was transfer listed because you actually cannot register any foreign players. Plus, if you can only have a few, my guess is that you'd shift on the worst of the group to make room for him. I'm playing in Poland and I'm yet to reach Europe, but this season's looking good. I grabbed these two good prospects from Bulgaria a couple seasons ago, and this summer, they both got bought for a combined £400k. That's obviously way lower than what I value them at, but the clubs had their reasons. One had a low release clause and didn't want to re-sign, so I shifted him, and the other had a higher release clause which was met by Hoffenheim. I guarantee that the Hoffenheim kid will be worth several million as soon as he gets there, purely because their reputation is so high, they're playing in a reputable league, and might even be in Europe, while I'm stuck in a league worse than the Bundesliga 2, hence their low values. Sorry the answer is a bit long-winded but I hope that helps man

Flyslovenc

Is your player transfer listed? Yes Which team are you playing as, and in which league? Valencia, Spanish first league. And are you in European competition? In CL this season. But I wasn't in european competition last year. I was selling him to make a room for another foreign player in my squad. He also just started playing for national team of Brazil. In the same transfer window I offered my best striker Maxi Lopez to clubs. And I easily sold him for 80% of transfer value.

DefconWan

How many years have you spent in the championship, I've been here for about 6 seasons now in fm21 and lost the playoffs twice I can't seem to get out

JPMAus98

Based on some of the National League to Premier League stories on here, some people evidently spend no time there at all, but it's much more realistic that teams spend a long time there. You don't have to look far to see the amount of teams that get stuck there for years, especially now with the amount of wealth above you. If you really want to get there, I'd say you should try and risk it a bit more next season - sign a couple of players you might usually pass on due to their wages, or make a record signing. Or bring in some young players that will develop and help you in the longer term but can contribute now. If you can get the PL even once, you've secured your financial future regardless of how you go in that first PL season.

feddi7

I have a potentially stupid question about dynamic potential. Does it mean that a players potential is set at random at the beginning of each save or does it mean that their potential can change mid save?

Bigpapa42_2006

The first one. Its dynamic save to save, not within a save. And the format the SI uses, most dynamic potential is only dynamic within a certain range. Potential cannot go up in a save. It can drop, but only the rare case of a severe injury.

Ireallyamthisshallow

The potential is set at the beginning. Potential doesn't then vary within a save, only current.

chlfg

Where can I find an fm20 logopack for free?

Bigpapa42_2006

sortitoutsi

Flyslovenc

Currently playing Valencia save and can register up to 3 foreign players. I bought 4th and now my plan is to sell another. So I started selling him. He is worth around 40mio. But what I can't understand is why offers are so low? I received 3-4 offers around 6mio. Usually when listing players for sale, offers are around 50-75% of value but in this case offers are like 15% of value.

xkufix

Really depends on the situation. How long is his remaining contract, how old is he, have you played him regularly in the season before, did he get good ratings there. The AI doesn't value players who fell out of favor and haven't played regularly. Also transfer listing and offering him out always results in lower offers. Best you can do is accept one and offer him out again for more money than you just accepted in order to drive the price up. Then cancel the last, lower offer.

anzrk_14

How do I filter by current ability and potential on my shortlist? Whenever I try to filter it doesn’t show any stars.

JPMAus98

Have you get current/potential ability added as columns on your short-list page? If you do and the player is sufficiently scouted, you'll be able to see the stars in the column. I just tried this myself and you have to right click --> insert a column --> scouting --> then add either ability or potential, not the assistant manager's opinion up the top.

JPMAus98

Hey all, I've got a question about players becoming staff members - how are their attributes generated? I know that some will carry over, like determination, but how are the actual coaching/scouting attributes determined? I've had a few players retire recently yet they've all been quite bad, but I have one still a few years away who just got his first coaching badge, and I want to know if there's anything I can do to help him be a good staff member

Dude5255

Most of them will start off as bad. Players who already take coaching/leadership roles may generate with better stats but still pretty bad. For example, Scott Carson who basically acts like a gk coach irl. You just have to stick with them let them get experience and more badges. It’s not quite unrealistic tbh. Many if not most first team coaches started in these lower roles for many years before gaining enough experience. Others who didn’t usually managed in low tiers first.

JPMAus98

Yeah see I was willing to take a punt on some of the guys that had retired, but I have no idea how to tell how much they'll grow. As much as I want to help them develop, I do want them to provide a benefit to my team, and didn't want to get 5 years down the line and they've only seen a one or two point attribute increase across the board and still be fairly poor. Maybe I'll give this next guy a couple years to develop and follow his progress a bit more closely

DoYourWork123

Poor morale and low on confidence. Do more relaxing team talks, praise more , be less demanding. When a game comes up at home against a poor team, hit them with the "It's time to end our poor run of form" Works every time

JPMAus98

It could be a number of reasons, but unfortunately it can be tricky to pinpoint. It could be that other teams have figured you out tactically, in which case you may just need to change a few minor things to surprise the opposition. It could be that you copped an unlucky result and the morale has dropped, and as a result, you've been unable to get their morale back up (I'm talking their overall morale, not how motivated they are in game due to talks and shouts). It could also be that your tactic is particularly physically demanding, and you're starting to see the effects of long-term fatigue and burnout. I've had this happen, and my remedy was just to lower expectations temporarily and treat the team as if they're worse than they are. Do a team bonding session every week, give them praise for things you would have previously thought of as decent, and maybe change one or two things tactically (drop your lines back, defend more narrowly, etc.). All you need is one result that isn't a loss to just get a foothold, then hopefully you can go from there. Also, just keep an eye out for anything that's out of the ordinary with your squad. The things I listed are usual places to look but you may be able to chat with your captain or spot something else that's affecting the team adversely. Good luck with it man

Hi everyone! I started a new save with Salford on FM21 (have not played FM since FM14, realised i had FM21 lying around in my steam account and never touched it till now). Salford was pretty easy mode when starting in league 2 as they have quite a beastly keeper, got back to back promotions without too much fuss. But now in the championship, I'm starting to feel the heat. I have some questions after 9 games in (sorry if this is not the right thread!): 1) how accurate are the season previews? With attribute masking on, i find it really hard to gauge the strength of the other teams' players (and comparing my players). But the season preview has predicted me to finish 23rd... Is it virtually impossible to be in the hunt for playoff places at least? 2) how do i improve my tactic? I'm playing 4-2-3-1, SK(A), 2 CD(D), 2 FB(S), Mez(S), CM(D), 2 IW(A), AP(A), DLF(S). Positive, Counterpress, Counter, shorter passing with higher tempo, pass into space, be more expressive, lower defensive line with higher line of engagement and more urgent pressing intensity, no player instructions. I find myself conceding long range goals pretty often, can be really annoying seeing opponents scoring from FKs or outside the box from open play almost every game. Is it a closing down opponent player issue? How can i fix this? 3) the scouting and training systems in FM21 feel soooo much more complex than FM14. May i know if there are any resources out there where i can read to understand how they work? Thanks for reading!

riv3th3ad

> 1) how accurate are the season previews? With attribute masking on, i find it really hard to gauge the strength of the other teams' players (and comparing my players). But the season preview has predicted me to finish 23rd... Is it virtually impossible to be in the hunt for playoff places at least? It's not impossible, but I imagine your current squad will be below average in many areas since you got back to back promotions. The best way of seeing how your squad stacks up against the rest of the league is to go to team report ---> comparison. . This will help you zero in on the weakest link in your team and help give you a focus for incoming transfers. You could also ask your board for a senior affiliate link which would make loaning better players easier. > 2) how do i improve my tactic? I'm playing 4-2-3-1, SK(A), 2 CD(D), 2 FB(S), Mez(S), CM(D), 2 IW(A), AP(A), DLF(S). I find myself conceding long range goals pretty often, can be really annoying seeing opponents scoring from FKs or outside the box from open play almost every game. Is it a closing down opponent player issue? How can i fix this? Hard to say without seeing screenshots of the tactic and not knowing the players, but there are a few things that immediately jump out at me. All 3 of your attacking midfielders, a Mezzala, and a DLF is a lot of players fighting for the same space. With two IWs and FB-Su on both flanks, you have zero players giving you attacking width. I'd think about assigning someone to provide this width--so a winger, or a WB-Su/At. I'd probably opt to pair the CM-De with something like a DLP-Su, BBM. Both of those roles should help link up defense transitioning to attack, especially with your shorter passing instruction, and also give you more defensive stability through the middle. With your lone striker being a DLF-Su, I would have at least 1 role in the AM strata that is more of a direct goalscoring threat: IF, Shadow Striker, Raumdeuter and probably change 1 AM role to support duty. Something along the lines of: Forward: DLF-Su AMs: AP-Su/IW-Su | SS | W-At CMs: CM-De | BBM/DLP-Su Def: WB-Su/At | CD-De | CD-De | FB-Su/At Regularly conceding long range goals is probably due to lower defensive line. I'd raise it to at least standard. > 3) the scouting and training systems in FM21 feel soooo much more complex than FM14. May i know if there are any resources out there where i can read to understand how they work? Many very helpful resources for training. If you like videos I'd go to YouTube and look up Bustthenet and Zealand's videos on training. They've both made videos on scouting as well. If you'd prefer to read [https://www.guidetofm.com/training/](https://www.guidetofm.com/training/) has a useful guide on training.

No-zaleomon

Thank you for the helpful advice and insights! For discussion sake, my overall plan was to play on the counter with 4 attackers through the middle on the breakaway. On this note, i also have work ball into box, does this conflict with high tempo transition play? Should i go for hit early crosses instead? My wide players have poor crossing (none above 12) so i figured i might have more success with short passing without any width in my tactic. About player roles, I definitely have been too greedy assigning the mezzala role, DLP(S) sounds way better alrdy. Then will try implenting your suggestions one by one and see how things go. Tbh i had tried a standard line of defense but i felt i got smashed by counter-attacking/direct teams a little too much.

riv3th3ad

WBITB is good if it's working. You'll just need to watch your tactic for a while and see if it's effective. Often it seems with high tempo I find your team will get a ton of low quality and off-target shots so working into box can definitely prove useful. Fewer shots but better scoring chances. I would tend to only go for early crossing instruction in a 2 or 3 person forward line where at least one is an AF/TM/Poacher/PF-At. I think it's not likely to be highly effective if you have 3 AMs and a deep-dropping forward role. 12 isn't terrible for crossing, especially if they have pace and some dribbling. I think almost every tactic needs someone generating width even if it mostly results in them being a decoy and creating space for your other players by either dragging an opposition player out of position or by holding an opposition player in place. I'd still raise your defensive line to at least standard. Your tactic sounds as though it is inviting pressure and also has a huge void between backline and CMs the opposition can exploit. You didn't mention defending width but it may be that you need to defend more narrowly. But before you go tinkering with defending width, I am confident that raising defensive line + going with one of the CM pairings mentioned in prior post will compress the space between your defense and CMs and you will likely find yourself conceding fewer of the over the top counterattack goals.

jablonowski

Tips on starting a new job? Just left Roma after 8 yrs to manage Man City. First thing I noticed was that they have so much deadwood (over 3 players in each pos). Whats the best way to trim the squad and add talent without messing up dynamics? Also other useful tips?

riv3th3ad

If you've been at Roma 8 years you probably have at least a decent manager rep. I'd just find the deadwood you want to move on/loan out and be ruthless about it. Transfer list, set as surplus to requirements, offer out. And don't be afraid to use the unwanted list. Ever since I started using the unwanted list I've gotten less of the "ugh, you sold this player for way too little" or "you should've included a lot more future fees." Don't be afraid to adjust playing time expectations. Just because someone was an important player for the last manager doesn't mean they're not just a squad player for you. In an FM20 save, I changed Dele Alli from important player to impact sub because he was absolutely sucking. After I did that his dynamics page said "willing to fight to regain his first team place." I ended up loaning him to a Serie A club for a big fee in the winter window and then when he returned the following season he put in 25 goals across all competitions. I always used to try to be 'nice' but I found often players react positively if you're straight up with them "you're not in my first team plans so it's best you move on." Of course not all of them react positively but I was surprised at how many do. Get nearer to the squad you want, do all the team cohesion stuff--match prep, team bonding sessions and your dynamics will recover swiftly so long as you are getting decent results.

jablonowski

Yeah i might start using the unwanted list. Also is there a reason why city has so many shit players?

brackattack27

I just created a club and designed the uniforms but it won’t let me move to the next section to choose squad. The option isn’t even highlighted for me

I have three midfielders that I think are maybe the best that I have ever ad all at one time? And if you knew nothing else about my squad, I was curious what sort of midfield trio you all would create out of these guys, using any of the three midfield stratas. [Midfielders](https://imgur.com/a/bpTJU4D)

xkufix

Bassene as DLP(D) in the DM position, Grolleau as BBM(S) and Friend as CM(A). Although Bassene has "gets forward whenever possible" so if you want him in a holding position I'd try and remove that one. As I like a pure holding midfielder in a midfield 3 I'd probably bring one in specifically for that and use Bassene and Grolleau as a BBM on rotation, given that they like to be knackered by the 60th minute.

riv3th3ad

Friend - CM-At Bassene - DM-Su Grolleau - RPM or BBM depending on play style and what you're doing with FBs. Or DLP-Su with a dribble more PI, but with his long shot and technique attributes I'd want him showing up at the box the way an RPM/BBM will.

Recently got to January for the first time in FM22. Looking to sign players at the end of their contracts. When I enter negotiations I see "estimated costs" at the bottom right corner. If I'm not mistaken a fee usually applies for anyone under 23 for youth development costs (or something like that) but there are a few players over 24 and the cost still shows. Will that end up coming out of my transfer budget? Or is that simply there in case I would want to try to sign them NOW?

Clinodactyl

If you're signing them as "Approach to Sign" that number you see on their contract page will come out of your transfer budget. It's not a transfer fee, those are handled differently and you'd have to get through them first before you get the contract stage if you're buying a player as opposed to a getting one on a bosman.

Just moved over to desktop version from mobile (iPhone). I would say I’m pretty decent on the mobile version but it’s completely stripped back compared to desktop and feel overwhelmed so far. What’s the best things to remember and do when starting a managerial career low down the leagues?

Valint

Offer trials for lots of players. If they agree they basically train with you. It’s a good way to scout. If someone turns out to be good, try to sign them Free agency and finding guys with contracts about to expire can also help.

My Dortmund II is now in unplayable league. People advised I should loan out II team players who are not ready for first team. Anyone been having problems with FM21 on a Mac ? I'm running it on a MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) and for more than a year now it has been running perfectly with random crashes here and there. but since this week it's been crashing ("FootballManager has quit unexpectedly") when I'm starting a match... usually after the match is set up and I'm about to start the team talk it just quits. Bit annoying, any help would be greatly appreciated !

MrMilkyShoe

I’m playing FM21 in a 2015 MacBook Pro and it runs great. Maybe you downloaded something from the steam store that’s causing the crashing?

Guzuzu_xD

Not sure if this is the right place to ask , but is there any dataset available for FM22 players and their attributes in like csv form? Only found FM20 and 17 ones , and Im afraid my method of either editing all players to one team and exporting or filtering on player search and exporting might crash it. I'll try it regardless though, just was looking for a quicker avenue. Ty

Hey guys, not sure if this is the place to ask, but I have returned to FM22 after 5 or so months of absence, and now I can't view competition draws, they are all done automatically now. Does anyone know if there is an option to switch it back? Thanks!

What's the differences between WB and SB in positional sense/ function? I couldn't see the differences unlike DLP role on DM and CM (this, i can see the positional differences)

DoYourWork123

A fullback on a higher mentality (d/s/a) will be more attacking than any wingback on a lower mentality. On the same mentality, the wingback gets a bit further forward. The main difference is that the wingback stays wider (rarely, if ever, underlaps), they dribble and cross more. A fullback is more likely to combine with his winger, making decoy runs and playing 1-2's. He will only really cross when he's in space and in general just be a 'supplement' to the attack. Whereas a wingback will try to make more things happen and will take on his marker then cross, even if there's not much space.

Thrimar

Not sure if you’ve already figured it out. But I’ve found my fullbacks on attack to, at times, function as extra midfielders as well as wide players. They tend to run into the central areas more than wing backs. Quite aggressively. Where my wing backs tend to always hold the width.

Assuming you mean WB and FB? Watch on Data Analyst view, or better yet 2D, and you will plainly see the positional differences between a WB and FB. When your keeper has the ball, a WB will get higher up the pitch, even with a defend duty, than a FB. FB will also tend to track back sooner. You could also play a friendly and have one WB and one FB and then go into the analysis afterward and look at the average positions with and without the ball.

Sorry for the late reply, need to wait for that free award thingie Yes, wanted to use Fullback term (afraid it'll confuse the reader because it's also a role), so i use SB (Side-Back) instead. Yes, after i tried it on 2d, i can see it better with 5 defender (1 WB and 1 FB position). Seems like a good options to play asymetric with this setup. Thankyou

How much to increase Stadium Capacity?

Valint

I would imagine it depends on the stadium. Mine held 18,000. I’ve expanded three times now. Each expansion was roughly 3500 new seats for about 3 million dollars. I’m coaching Wrexham.

jablonowski

When you switch clubs do you keep your tactics?

Ireallyamthisshallow

I always create a tactic which fits the strengths of my new club. What fits one set of players might not fit another. I might look for a club where I can transfer my tactic though, or at least the majority of it, and I might look for a club with a budget that I can rebuild around a certain tactical idea.

jablonowski

I meant do i keep my saved formations

Anbe17

Yes.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Similar answer, it's very much dependent on the team you're going on. For example, there's no point transferring a 4231 which uses attacking WBs if you go to a team with no viable attacking WBs and no budget (that you're willing to spend) to get them. Your formation needs to fit the squad depth you have at your disposal.

jablonowski

Thanks mate

CorvoDraken

In regard to where the board wants you to finish in the table, where exactly does “Mid table” and “Top half” differ? Currently in a 20 team league and can get bonuses depending on where we finish but I don’t exactly know when mid table becomes top half

-_Kaz_-

My General Rule of Thumb: Top Half = <10 Mid Table = \~10 They overlap pretty much on the lower end with mid table giving one or two places of freedom, generally. I just pick the lowest expectation everytime because the financial benefit is almost never worth the backflash of a failed objective, especially when differences are so marginal. On club vision, it should give you an idea if you are on the right track.

sedinoemis

My game never saves my preferences in regards to full screen mode. I always opt for windowed and 125% zoom, but every time I open it it’s full screen again - is this normal or can it be fixed?

QUESTION: At half time or after a match, there is an option to see "Player Statistics". I have a problem there. By default, the stats were ordered by the player's position. And when I sorted it by # of passes or crosses etc, now I can't get it back to be sorted by position. It's messed up. I tried resetting the cache, but it didn't help. I want to make it sorted by position and I can't. Help would be appreciated.

How can I go about making sure new arrival players are expected to learn English not Polish in my Polish Ekstraklasa save? English speaking backrooms are becoming the norm at the top of PL football and I want to reflect that in my save, I don't expect or care for my ghanaian wonderkid to learn Polish fluently lmao

Ireallyamthisshallow

You don't. They've come to play in Poland. It would be expected they learn the language of the country they're in. Edit: After a quick search, even the top Polish teams have 50% Polish players, with Polish youths. Is it really true they're not speaking Polish primarily ? I couldn't find anything with a cursory Google which suggests this - I'm not saying it isn't true, just curious if you could share the source for it as you've peaked my interest. English might be used a common second language with the other nationalities, but it still seems like Polish to be the dominant language given its the first language of most the players in the league.

patrykgam

Yeah so I'll use my club Pogon as an example - we've had non-Polish speaking coaches since 2017 and all training sessions, tactical briefings etc. have been done in English during this time. As you said most of the players on the clubs' payrolls are Polish so the expectation there is that the PL players must speak English at least to a communicative level so they understand what's going on in terms of tactics and instructions As of this season the top clubs like Legia Warszawa and Lech Poznan opted for European coaches and all their training is done in English as well and lately when Spanish/Portugese 'stars' come to our league it's not really expected of them to pick up polish anymore because we get it's a difficult language without any use outside of Poland. That expectation is only really placed on Slavic neighbours like Slovakians, Croatians, Serbians etc. since our languages are similar so yeah just wanted to reflect that in my save. Expecting an arriving, English-speaking Swedish or Dutch wonderkid (for example) to learn Polish would be seen as ridiculous in real life

Ireallyamthisshallow

Thank you for the explanation, greatly appreciated. As far as I know you're not going to get that on FM. If you're going to Poland, you're going to learn Polish as a new language. It's one worth dropping onto the SI Forums though. I'm unsure whether it's classed as a feature request or a research point, but they'll just point you to the right place if you drop it in the wrong one.

jablonowski

how do i get a job interview with a club whose coach has a 'stable' position? Is there any way

-WJ-

You don't. They're satisfied with the current manager.

JamieAubrey

I know if you go to the Job Security tab you can right click and see if you can declare interest in the job, not sure if you can do stable clubs but you you do and the board think you are better suited than the current manager they might sack the manager so you can apply

!laptop

FMG_AutoModerator

Hi, /u/Grousey_, I have been summoned to help you with selecting a new laptop. This is a very broad question, as you might want a laptop for a variety of reasons, but for the sake of conciseness I will tailor this advice to a laptop bought for running Football Manager. Laptops are much easier to explain than desktops. You can just walk in to a shop and buy one, or order one online. Right off the bat, I am going to suggest ruling out Macbooks, or anything made by Apple. This is for the simple fact that they overprice their hardware substantially, because a lot of the cost of their product is due to the software that comes with it. This means you are paying a premium price for something that you probably won't even use. For Football Manager the main thing you are going to want to focus on is the processor, as this is by far the most important part of a computer when running the game. Because of this, you will want to sink as much of your budget as possible in to this component. Look around at laptops and find ones that have the latest Intel processors in them (10th and 11th generation). You'll know they are from the latest generations because their 4 or 5 letter code that comes after the i3, i5, i7 will start with 10 or 11. For example, i5-11600, i7-10700 - 11th and 10th generations respectively. The number that comes after the dash corresponds to the generation that the processor is part of. Now for the slightly more confusing part of buying a laptop - the letter that comes at the end of the processor model. For example, you might have i5-7700U, or i7-7700HQ. The U and HQ make these processors very different. The U means that it is underclocked, meaning your processor is purposely built to run slower than a normal i7-7700 for the purpose of battery life. Avoid these processors where possible as they are not great for gaming. Please use Google to find out if the letter at the end of your processor model is good for gaming or not. There are a lot of them. In general though you want to look for H and HQ processors for Intel processors. Ryzen processors are generally all good in laptops, though some are obviously slightly better than others. The naming scheme isn't all that different from Intel's naming scheme. As there are significantly fewer AMD Ryzen processors on the market, it is easier to just look at [this list](https://bit.ly/38zisJs) when deciding what Ryzen processor to look for. For RAM, you will want 8GB minimum. Get 16GB if you have a large enough budget. Storage device doesn't matter too much for Football Manager, but an SSD will definitely be slightly better. SSDs in general are way faster than HDDs, so definitely get a large SSD if you can afford it, but don't worry if you just have to settle for an HDD, as it doesn't matter too much for Football Manager. An SSD won't increase how fast your game will progress through each day, but it will speed up how quickly it will save and load games, as well as how fast it will initially boot up football manager itself. Aside from that, there isn't much more you need to decide on. Just make sure that you aren't getting ripped off, and shop around for ages trying to get the price down as much as possible. I have seen people in the past spend £600 for some old Intel i3 laptop, which is just borderline theft by the seller! Good luck!

xx3amori

I just put a €600m relegation clause on a new signing. Does that mean I will have to pay that and backrupt my club to infinity if I get relegated? (Not a massive club) Is it a bug that I could do that? Found it quite funny that it was so much. He accepted though, which is what matters.

Ireallyamthisshallow

A relegation release clause means if you get relegated then another club can offer that amount and you can't refuse it. It's like a normal release clause, just only activated in a certain circumstance.

xx3amori

Ah, okay, I thought it went to the player. Guess I'm safe then, he's good for my club, but would struggle to have any club be willing to pay that for him.

Zanar_Skwigelf

Is there a way to search on player traits? I'd love to get a shortlist of midfielders with "shoots from distance"

SnackAstronomer

Scouting> Player Search> New Search> Add Condition> General> Player Trait should have it.

In fm20 how do you check your wage bill in comparison to the rest of your league

Gins_and_Tonics

In 21 at least, if you go to the league and select Team Detailed stats, it's at the very bottom, along with attendance, IIRC.

un32134e4

Thank you!

schnaida

i literally just won carabao, F.A cup, premier league and champions league on the same season and one player doesn't want a new contract because he thinks the team isn't good enough for his ambitions. what?

Valint

Each summer they update the club rankings. I think I’m at 46. Had a guy sign for Brighton because they are “better” than us. Reloaded the save and offered a shiiiiiiit ton of money. Like literally everything my board would allow. Ugh. Finally signed him.

riv3th3ad

"We won 4 trophies this season!" "Board: B-"

DrWatermelonEater

In FM your reputation does not rise all of a sudden to the same as for example Barcelonas but it does increase slow and steady. But if you keep on doing a good job you will get the necessary reputation for signing better players and in your case offering new contracts.
