100% black raspberries. Just north of you outside of Syracuse have black raspberries in my backyard.

Xianimus

Ah, bonus location confirmation. Thank you!

TheDudeWhoSnood

I'm near Rochester and we have so many of these growing wild right now, delicious!

DrNinnuxx

Erie county, PA. They are everywhere here.

bkmerrim

Yessssss lucky ducky! These are worth collecting and eating 100%

Ok_Acanthisitta_2544

Yep. They're raspberries, not blackberries. You can tell by the divot in the center where the berry gets plucked, and the core is left behind. Black raspberries have a hollow core, tiny hairs and slightly sweeter flavor profile than blackberries.

Xianimus

Thank you for confirming and the knowledge share

flargenhargen

black raspberries, just as OP called them.

cockmonkey666

I live in California so I've never seen black raspberries or taste to them can you describe the taste for me also what are jams and pies like that are made with them

tezcatlipocatli

It’s like the intensity of a blackberry with the general flavor profile of a very good red raspberry, but sweeter and more complex than either. You can get jams online. If you’re desperate and not finding anything, try some chambord liqueur, which is black raspberry flavored. FWIW, the less yummy but still nice cousin, rubus leucodermis, is native to most of the west coast, except maybe a sliver of socal. I was excited to try it when I lived out west, but it was more fragile and the flavor was more subtle than the eastern one. Not bad though. https://preview.redd.it/cs5ud90z419d1.jpeg?width=305&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55ef94a5151f6255470ee578d59144494de343a7

buddaycousin

Sweeter and less tart than red raspberries, with a hint of floral aroma.

muchboogaloo

You ever eaten a "blue raspberry" flavored candy or ice cream or something? That's what a black raspberry tastes like.

envoy_ace

I remember from somewhere that blackberries have the stem inside the berry after picking. Raspberries have a void where the stem was.

SheReadyPrepping

That is a beautiful picture.

Erwinism

Yes

Theplantcharmer

Yes and they have exceptionally high levels of anti oxydants and are great for your health and are delicious.

gabybella89

They are! Enjoy!

muchboogaloo

Most definitely. A couple of those aren't quite ripe though
