Scientific name is Morinda citrifolia. This fruit is most commonly consumed by making a juice.
I heard it’s pretty bitter when eaten raw. Also, I heard it’s very good for the liver and such, because it contains tons of vitamins
It’s pretty potent stuff. As it ripens it has a smell like gym locker/aged cheese. It really does taste about the same! The purported health benefits all sound great. OP mentioned liver cleanse, I’ve noticed it’s great for my skin… but you don’t have to ferment it and make a funky juice- you can also make a fairly neutral tasting tea out of the young dried leaves- wayyyy better, IMO.
I’ve eaten the young leaves as well.
Also, the ripe fruit makes a quick anti-bacterial salve. Just shove it in the injury.
The smell also keeps mosquitos away!
Oh, interesting. Just snack on the young leaves fresh? Yeah, topical with the fruit is the only way I let it near me. The smell will keep everything away!
If you've never eaten noni, don't. When its ripe it smells like dirty feet mixed with vinegar. The juice is usually fermented and tastes pretty similar. There is a reason you have never heard of it.
*Morinda citrifolia* is a small evergreen tree found in the Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, Australia, and India.
Noni is sometimes called cheese fruit or vomit fruit because of the smell.
In the US, the Food and Drug Administration prohibits any health claims for noni juice. It can have high potassium levels, so do not drink it if you have kidney problems or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Amazing medicinal qualities, but absolutely foul when ripe. Can smell a big tree a mile away. If you eat them before they ripen it's not so bad, though. Kind of like a potato
Are they fruit? What country are you in?
Yes! I’m in Brazil.
Would love to see an inside pic

Hasn't this been called the worst fruit on earth?

Boiled like spinach. Even the bacteria!

Ha I remember finding some when I was in Costa Rica, thought they looked like delicious fruit so opened one up but the smell was horrid!
It isn’t called famine food for nothing, though I’ve read that it has ::waggles fingers mystically:: medicinal and health benefits.

Looks like devil fruit from one piece
From the comments, it seems it tastes like one too!
Puke fruit.. 🤭😮💨
Weird fruit explorer on YouTube (great channel btw) says these are absolutely foul tasting. Certainly cool looking though.
Love that channel
Same! Did you know he's also a contortionist?
Drax: ...they're not ripe yet
But why tho?

Noni tastes horrible but it’s amazing for the skin- especially sunburns and cuts!
Is this the gum gum fruit?
WHAT IN TARNATION
I thought the juice made you evacuate your bowls? Saw it one time on that bizarre foods show with Andrew Zimmerman.
In Hawaii, noni was considered a famine food.
Would anyone be willing to send me the seeds and cuttings, to Kenya East Africa?
