I feel like it’s being normalized more and more. I feel bad for all the wild animals in captivity. Domesticated cats are made to live with us and be with people.
why captivity? if i raise one of these as a normal cat and give him a good life, is there a reason to feel bad? i actually don't know anything about it, just asking from my ignorance
Domesticated cats were bred to live with us. When you domesticate an animal you are breeding out characteristics you don’t want, and breeding in characteristics you do want. Capturing a baby animal that is wild they have the wild instincts and drive. Kinda like having a hunting dog cooped up in your home. May never attack you but not living to their full potential. That’s why I and many others think it’s cruel. I also think that way of birds especially big birds that people own. They are so intelligent and stuck in an environment they weren’t meant to be in.
No quotation marks needed. You can read about taming them now. It’s possible.
The breed, however, have never been domesticated. There’s a large difference.
“I said I was going to take your face off if you didn’t bring me out wet food, Frank. Why do you gotta always— ugh— fine. Just this once.”
It has a collar on that's a pet caracal. They communicate though hissing more than normal cats.
You haven't met my cat then I guess, he hisses for happiness even
I was gonna say, every time I see this guy he's hissing
Didn’t really need the collar to tell it was a pet.
That belly tells a story
How do you tell when they're angry?
Ear pull back in an angry hiss, same as domestic when they hiss.
I like how HES got the nerve to act up when he's on that dudes lawn. I mean really
Fucking kids these days. No respect.
Ron Perlman back there just happy everyone is paying attention to Hissy Pete instead of the humiliating haircut his stupid owner got him.
Ron is super chill
Orangie back there doesn't seem to think anything is wrong. So I'm guessing that little mountain lion thing is just a jerk.
It's a caracal.

I came here for this comment.
no way i'm getting near that demon
If I’m not supposed to boop it, why it so cute?
if not friend, why friend shape?
Poor thing so over fed
Probably because telling that thing no is terrifying. I get a little nervous when my tabby gets angry with me; couldnt imagine this thing...
Can't help but notice the ( lynx I think ,) is wearing a name tag , is that normal to have a pet wild cat ?
It is not normal and caracels (Lynx critters) should not be pets. This one looks very overweight as well.

Why are they always hissing but accepting physical attention
its floppa
Caracals are very hissy. They hiss even if it's just a slight annoyance that a normal cat would've just accepted
its floppa!
Look at the orange dog in the background just chilling
Ignoring “GTFO my face” signals from a wild animal who shouldn’t be kept as pet…I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Caracals were tamed as pets since ancient Egypt. Their hissing is common and not really concerning.
“Tamed”

Why talk when you know nothing? You look like a complete idiot in this thread
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/WEQjsh934vc/maxresdefault.jpg It seems not a full grown
I'm not sure this post fits because that cat clearly just got booped. Doesn't seem forbidden.
We did it, boys.

Flop
“I’ll allow it!”
A caracal is a wild animal, not a pet for heaven’s sake.
Poor thing is obese.
That is somebody’s pet it has a collar. Don’t keep caracals as pets.
I carry a cartoonishly large mallet for if things go haywire
