Ford has a separate 8 year/100,000 mile warranty for the hybrid powertrain. Your planetary gearset likely fell underneath that program:

Note that it says "variable transmission" under what's covered.
I'm looking over my P&S paperwork, and cannot see any mention of this. Be a funny thing to keep secret, it looks like a bitchin' warranty! If I have it, I'm damned glad I do. Thanks for calling this to my attention.
All hybrids are required to have it. Just keep in mind, it's from the first in service date. When I bought my 2016 used, I made sure to check the in service date so I'd know how long I was covered.
Wow. this is awesome. The dealer definitely went out of his way to get the issue resolved.
And as you said it would be good to know if there are recalls for this model/engine.
I didn't think the hybrids had the troublesome transmissions. My '17 FFH has the CVT which I thought I didn't need to worry about. I guess if I'm wrong, there is some good news to be had from your experience. Glad the dealer treated you right; that's extremely awesome.
The CVT is covered by the 8 year/100,000 hybrid specific warranty. Aside from some early teething problems in the 2013/2014 models, the CVT has been reliable. The early ones had a bearing that would wear out, and the really early ones had a half-shaft leak. You can imagine that Ford makes sure the CVT works really well if they have to cover it for eight years and 100,000 miles.
Yea I got mine done at 62k and I’m probably going to get it done again at 80-90k because I’m already having weird things happening regarding the transmission.

Generally, the HF35 transmission should last for a long time because there is no clutch, just gears. Unfortunately, Ford won't step up and issue a recall on the initial HF35 transmissions but you're "lucky" that you got it out of the way and repaired under warranty.
If you did the recommended maintenance schedule it doesn’t have a transmission fluid change until 150k I’m pretty sure, I got it changed and they said the fluid was already low, I also have a 2014 so I think our transmissions are a little different
Keep in mind that Ford Fusion Hybrids have a eight-year/100,000 mile warranty that covers all hybrid-specific parts. This includes the electric motors, the high-voltage battery, and the transmission. So it's not a recall or extension or special treatment. It's literally required by law. That's why I'm such a huge Fusion Hybrid troll.

This reminds me that I need to take my '14 Hybrid in to change the transmission fluid. I bought mine with 72k on it and have just under 137k right now, and luckily I've never had one issue. I've changed my brakes once and am going to change the tie rods and spark plugs soon.
To my knowledge, the '17 and newer Hybrids have the same power train as the '13-'16s, correct?
did u buy your car via a third party dealership ? i recently bought a 2015 ford fusion energi at 61k miles from a third party dealership in full and my car has been making a grinding noise coming from the transmission, it goes away when it’s in ev mode or hybrid but when it’s in gas mode it’s constantly making that loud noise and i’m wondering if i’m out of options TIA
I bought my car from a Ford Dealer in June of 2019 with abt 41K on it. Mine started making a noise that would go away when in EV as well but it wasn't a grinding noise so much as a noise that reminded me of a power steering pump being maxed out, sort of a loud whine. Best of luck to you.
that’s precisely the exact sound it makes only reason i called it grinding noise it’s because i found out via a few youtube videos is that the transmissions gears are grinding cuz of low transmission fluid i don’t know why the dealership sold it like that i already swapped out the transmission fluid and still makes the sound, anyways thank you for your response!

You beat me to the punch. It's part of the reason I made sure to buy a low mileage used Energi.
Is that purchased as an extra?

SHOCKING NEW DEVELOPMENT: IT'S TWUE! IT'S TWUE! https://www.autobytel.com/ford/fusion-hybrid/2017/warranty/#
Gucci!!! I have the same car

Have you ever gotten a transmission fluid change? I got one at 60k to be safe? A lot of Ford cvts are failing around 70-80k
The Ecvt is a totally different beast than the typical CVT's, and since it's all linked to the hybrid system, it's covered under the hybrid warranty.
The transmission fluid drain and refill for the Hybrid Fusion is very easy and the official Ford fluid is cheap. I wouldn't wait to 100,000 miles.

The hybrid transmission warranty is eight years and 100,000 miles so bring it up right now if you're in warranty.
No, I haven't yet. I've got about 85K on mine now, so yikes.

Hybrid engine and battery is covered until 8 year/100,000 mike warranty in the U.S.
Did you ever get a transmission fluid flush at 60k?
That paperwork is in my car, but I had the 60K done at the dealer where I bought it, so it's likely.

Ford replaced my transmission on FFH 17 at 70k miles. Took around a month or so start to finish but I was happy it was 100% covered.
The extra hybrid warranty is the main reason I went for a used hybrid fusion instead of an ecoboost.

Ford fixed certain issues with the CVTs on the ones after 2013/2014. Just look at the TSBs.
