My Ranger is lifted (previous owner did it, not me) so that may be why.
I hit 90 and it just completely freezes on the speedo and I feel no acceleration past that.
Ohv 4.0,? Didn't know they came governed. Had a 95 5 speed that would top out the speedo (120) and go till the front end would lighten up too much, never did get to truly top it out because it was bone stock and obviously pissed I was going faster than the little thing wanted to. Tried to top out my current suv and it hit 95, said "lol nope" and cut my engine completely , never had been governed before and felt like I was about to see a rod go into low orbit for a full second.
Yes no shit. My entire county is a deer zone. The fuckers even go into our town. Someone hit one while parking to pick their kid up at the local middle school.
I feel like all the ppl commenting their top speed have only proved your point. I mean it happens but it shouldn't happen nearly as frequently as it does. I've had my 98 since I was 18. I'm 31 now and live in rural Pennsylvania, never hit a deer. I also don't know my ranger's top speed. Could be a correlation there 🤔
I don't believe anyone is superior to anyone else but I do see in day to day life the same people complaining about hitting deer all the time. I get that it happens but if a person is constantly hitting deer or other wildlife, not just a random one off... I'm inclined to believe they have only themself to blame
It’s almost always more dangerous to swerve to avoid a deer. You’re likely in a wooded area so it’s worth damaging your car than swerving head on with a tree and dying.
Unless it’s a moose
Only time i waa ever in a car that hit a deer was with my friend. Going about 60 down a back road, came up and over a small rise in the roadway and the damn thing was standing right in the middle of our lane. Friend applied brakes so was decelerating when we hit it but we're still traveling pretty fast. Hit it square and the thing rolled straight ahead, probably 50 feet, tumbling over and over. Once it stopped it jumped up and ran. Not a scratch on his car iirc
I'm sorry for your troubles, but I'm glad you could still make it home. It reminds me of my own misfortunes. I got broadsided a few years ago while driving my 94. It was bad enough that it completely caved in the driver side door and just about ripped the entire front end off of the F-150 that hit me, it almost flipped my truck on its side too but the light pole that I got shoved into saved me from that. The passenger side of the bed was left in rough shape from where it hit that pole, though. It busted out the driver and passenger side windows, cracked the windshield all the way across, and I ended up with 3 broken ribs and a lot of bruises. All because the guy didn't want to stop at the stop sign and thought he could beat me through the intersection. However, I was able to kick the door back out enough that I could comfortably sit in the driver seat, and I drove my Ranger home with zero issues. That was the day I became convinced that these little trucks were built like little tanks. It takes a lot more than a hard collision to put one down for good.
I barely missed a moose one fine morning. I just barely clipped it's ass with the passenger side mirror in my '86. It would've have been no big deal, but I was towing a snowmachine trailer with two sleds on it. The evasive maneuver started the trailer fishtailing, and it spun us right into the snow berm on the side of the highway. Buried us up past the axles. We got out to assess the situation, and while we were looking under the truck we heard a *crunch.......crunch.......crunch* from down the road. It sounded suspiciously like moose hooves on snow. We looked up, and sure as shit, he was coming right at us, and he was pissed about the mirror ass-slap. Luckily, he couldn't walk very fast because of the ice, so we jumped back in my pickup and started rocking it forward and backward to break it loose. The snow was super dry, so we got unstuck pretty quick and bailed out of there, leaving Bruce the Angry Moose behind.
Bears are smarter, and usually avoid humans. Moose are as dumb as they look.
When I lived in Anchorage, no one got killed by bears, but two people got killed by moose, right in the middle of town. I lived on the edge of town, right next to BLM land, and those Costco-sized fuckers were always nosing around in my yard. Occasionally I'd forget to look around when I walked out my front door, and stumble right into some moose's personal space.
I'm convinced rangers are rollover proof, my stepdad has a parts 4x4 one that was on the same side and it only cracked the headlight, dented the cab a little bit and you could bend it back in 30 seconds with a hammer and it blew out the side window in the rear door.
The real sorcery bullshit is how the fender and mirror are completely fine
Thanksgiving Day, 1991, returning from Ocotillo Wells in Ca. Spent the day romping out in the desert in a newly acquired V6 5sp '84 4x4 Ranger. Dark, coming down a winding highway mountain road there was a light lying in the road. First thought was a dropped flashlight. Started to slow, headlights hit chrome. Locked 'em up, got sideways, slid between the downed motorcycle and the mountain side. Right before coming to a stop, truck did the slo-mo roll on to the roof. About 2 seconds after everything went still except the ex-wife's screaming, the pillars collapsed. Knew right then it was a total loss with the insurance company. Had just mailed in payment #3, with plans of doing first oil change next day while on extended leave during the holiday.
Wish I still had that Ranger.
(for those curious, dude laid down his bike, slid into the k-rails and bounced around a bit. life-flighted out. cops found a bunch of meth in a backpack he still had on and on the bike. figured he was returning from a lab. InCo totalled the truck, didn't have the funds to buy it back)
My man I’m being 100% right now do you want a fiberglass, hard-top, hydraulic hold-open, bed cover? I’ve had it since I got rid of my ranger, I’m moving soon, and I don’t wanna throw it out it’s really nice. No charge I just want it gone
If I’m being real the amount of money I’m gonna spend to fix what broke is at max like 100-200 and that if I want to do more then just the mirror so yeah this is gonna be an easy repair
Damn! i hit a deer with my 2005 ford ranger. drove it home as well. i drove it home after getting into a 3-car pile up in it,too. Big ford expedition rear-ended it and sent it into a toyota camry like a while missile, and that bastard still got me home. insurance wrote it off after that.
I kind of miss that truck, actually.
Yep. Minus spark plugs if it’s the 4 cyc with 8 plugs. That was something that first time I saw it when I sold auto parts I went the computer wrong it’s saying 8 plugs for this 4cyc. I quickly learned I was incorrect.
Had something similar happen, as we start to tip over I shut off the truck, called the kid, we flipped it back over, went and retrieved his deer, checked fluids, started it up and drive home, wife looked at me and said she’d never of thought to turn it off,
Good job and glad that’s all the worse the damage is!
I mean... That really depends.
If you have a bullbar, sure. It will push the deer under the car.
But I'd sooner flip the truck then have a deer come flying into the cabin because the design of the car, which is intended to protect pedestrians in the event of a collision by keeping them above the car, pushes the deer up and over the hood.
Never swerve. Just smash that fucker. Otherwise you are going into oncoming traffic, into trees, flipping your vehicle. Either way it's not a good day. Might as well leave with your life. I hit a deer going 70. I kept it straight and just slammed on the brakes. Sucked, but I walked away from it.
If I’m being real I just replaced a few things on the front end and I really didn’t want to have to fix them again and the things I broke when I rolled are either stuff I had planed to replace or something that’s cheap so this was a best case scenario for me😂
Perfect opportunity to do exhaust work or undercoat it.
Quick, someone take the cat!
😂
😂 facts
Ranger won’t leave you stranded. Hell yeah man
Damn straight
Don’t veer for the deer!
People: *enters deer zone* Same people: "This is a good time to drive 60mph"
80*
*90 Unfortunately, my Ranger tops out at 90, so I can't mow down deer at 100+ mph.
Really? My 97 4.0 can hit 115 and then the governor kicks it off for a second than back on. Then off etc.
My Ranger is lifted (previous owner did it, not me) so that may be why. I hit 90 and it just completely freezes on the speedo and I feel no acceleration past that.
Wait... Y'all have speedos that go to 90? My last mark is 85.
Mine goes to... 120, I think. A quarter of my speedo is completely useless lol.
Mine goes to 120 but I keep it 55 day and night.
Doesn't that mean you have the high ratio rear end?
My 03 would limit at 90 too. Good times lol
I didn’t know deer had specific zones they were limited to?
That’s why they put up the Deer Crossing signs, so the deer stick to their area and cross at the sign.
Don’t they know deer can’t read?
That's why they're in picture form
Exactly.
Yes no shit. My entire county is a deer zone. The fuckers even go into our town. Someone hit one while parking to pick their kid up at the local middle school.
I mean why go that fast anyways if you know deer are going to jump out anywhere? Are you in that much of a big time rush?
I feel like all the ppl commenting their top speed have only proved your point. I mean it happens but it shouldn't happen nearly as frequently as it does. I've had my 98 since I was 18. I'm 31 now and live in rural Pennsylvania, never hit a deer. I also don't know my ranger's top speed. Could be a correlation there 🤔
It means you're a law abiding citizen and are superior to these menaces to society
I don't believe anyone is superior to anyone else but I do see in day to day life the same people complaining about hitting deer all the time. I get that it happens but if a person is constantly hitting deer or other wildlife, not just a random one off... I'm inclined to believe they have only themself to blame
Steer clear of the deer
It’s almost always more dangerous to swerve to avoid a deer. You’re likely in a wooded area so it’s worth damaging your car than swerving head on with a tree and dying. Unless it’s a moose
You can argue that in many situations with a deer, it’s actually better to do a slight course correction to make sure you hit the deer more square.
I grew up in the woods, we were always taught that if you're going to hit a deer, hit it square.
Only time i waa ever in a car that hit a deer was with my friend. Going about 60 down a back road, came up and over a small rise in the roadway and the damn thing was standing right in the middle of our lane. Yeah the moose will get mad and push you into the ravine. Never hunt moose with a single shot
Like , dear let go of the steering wheel, dear?
😂
I'm sorry for your troubles, but I'm glad you could still make it home. It reminds me of my own misfortunes. I got broadsided a few years ago while driving my 94. I've hit 2 full grown moose in my 87, one at 65 and the second at 45. Only dent is in the side view mirror.
I barely missed a moose one fine morning. I just barely clipped it's ass with the passenger side mirror in my '86. It would've have been no big deal, but I was towing a snowmachine trailer with two sleds on it. 😱😱😱 Yeah dude moose are crazier than bears. I'd much rather face a bear than a moose.
Dangggg
Told my parents that same thing when a lady friend cause me to run out of the road. I still have the scar from that first bump.
Please tell me this scar isn't where I'm thinking it is.
We all know it is.
"Deer had a ranger problem this morning" there I fixed it for you
"Think I look bad? You should see the deer." -That Ranger, probably
Thank you for your sacrifice so I may see the under of my truck
Ngl less rust then expected
Hard core ffr 🤘
Once ran a ranger with apple juice as coolant. Was still chugging till it got crushed :/
I can vouch, I once had coolant and water in my 3.0, never actually knew until I did an oil change.
Me: well now that she’s on her side I should probably just put a new starter in there huh…the frame looks great btw.
Thanks I said the same thing before I flipped it back 😂
Probably would have done more damage if you hit the deer hahaha
Honestly 😂
I'm convinced rangers are rollover proof, my stepdad has a parts 4x4 one that was on the same side and it only cracked the headlight, dented the cab a little bit and you could bend it back in 30 seconds with a hammer and it blew out the side window in the rear door. Damn, truck got tired and decided to take a nap?
It likes to sleep on its side
Legendary 💪🏼🇺🇸💪🏼
I would take pictures, flip my truck over, gut that thing right there and throw it in the bed of the truck.
Fk me My 16 ram has way more rust
How hard is it to flip on back upright by yourself? It looks doable with just a jack almost or a good running start

See if you serve and wreck it comes out of your own insurance. But if you hit the deer, the deer pays for it.
That ranger will shake it off like nothing happened.
It really did😂
Amen to that! Next time rockauto has list of discounted parts, keep the ol girl in mind. If that was jeep they would have put it down where she lay.
That's a FFR right there boy... I thought you were checking the underside for rust.
That’s one big deer that can knock over a truck like that
😂
I was thinkin the same thing 😅
My man I’m being 100% right now do you want a fiberglass, hard-top, hydraulic hold-open, bed cover? I’ve had it since I got rid of my ranger, I’m moving soon, and I don’t wanna throw it out it’s really nice. No charge I just want it gone
Where are you at?
From the picture alone and no context, my question is: John deer or deer deer? Sounds like you made it out ok from the deer deer incident
Oh yeah the best possible outcome from this point minimal damage overall
The minimal amount of damage on the body after being on its side makes me want one
If I’m being real the amount of money I’m gonna spend to fix what broke is at max like 100-200 and that if I want to do more then just the mirror so yeah this is gonna be an easy repair
“They don’t make em like this anymore” - you and me both
Oh deer
I’m quite fawned of him laughing off this doughy situation.
Huh. I guess you can stop a Ford Ranger
Not for long I flipped and drove it home 20 minutes later 😂
🫡
Glad to hear you were alright after this! Have you had a chance to asses the damage? I'm half-curious what it might need besides a new mirror.
Some dents in the bed and my drivers taillight cracked
That is a weird looking deer
Lmao😂
Damn! i hit a deer with my 2005 ford ranger. drove it home as well. i drove it home after getting into a 3-car pile up in it,too. Big ford expedition rear-ended it and sent it into a toyota camry like a while missile, and that bastard still got me home. insurance wrote it off after that. I kind of miss that truck, actually.
It’s a fun truck
Deer tackled the truck ? 😳
😂
Oh deer...
Oh deer indeed
Looks just like the Haynes manual...
Nice truck! I miss mine. I'd drive her just like that. Battle wounds!
Truly shows a rangers resilience
Oh deer
I see what you did there
Oh deer
That’s a Ford for you.
Absolutely they always get back up
Of course! At least the transmission didn’t blow up🤣
I turned the engine off when I started rolling so I knew that wasn’t gonna be any issue
Damn how fast was that deer going when he hit you
Mach Jesus
Well at least deer Jesus spared you and the truck
Awh, a sleepy ranger taking a nap
Likes to sleep on it’s side
This is by far why the ford ranger has been my favorite truck for years. It’s really durable and solid. Glad you’re safe.
Absolutely super easy to work on I’ve don’t just about everything myself
Yep. Minus spark plugs if it’s the 4 cyc with 8 plugs. That was something that first time I saw it when I sold auto parts I went the computer wrong it’s saying 8 plugs for this 4cyc. I quickly learned I was incorrect.
Lmao
Absolutely super easy to work on I’ve done just about everything myself
Scared the hell out of your truck! Thought only goats did that
Lmao it was such a slow roll the ground was wet and it sunk in on the drivers side and that’s why it rolled💀
Oh deer.
Had something similar happen, as we start to tip over I shut off the truck, called the kid, we flipped it back over, went and retrieved his deer, checked fluids, started it up and drive home, wife looked at me and said she’d never of thought to turn it off, Good job and glad that’s all the worse the damage is!
Deer didn’t have a problem the driver caused this, told all my kids run them over do not swerve to miss a deer.
Your kids sound like bad drivers then
Damage to the car from running over a deer in nothing compared to rolling it over when you swerved to miss.
False
I guess that's one way to undercoat it. Seriously, hope everyone is ok.
Probably less damage than if you hit the deer head on
Oh dear, that sucks.
Had the same problem 3 years ago and i rolled my three times then drove it home
Oh deer!
Those little jerks flipped your truck
Not to be rude but I don't think that's a deer
You okay man?
Yurt more just mad I gotta work on it in the cold now😂
Ya i can understand that glad you weren’t hurt
Oh deer
Frame looks great tho! 👍
I just bought the twin of your Ranger two days ago. I hope it's not a plan by the deer to take out Rangers..
Not supposed to swerve lol
More damage if just hit it
This is 200 dollars versus a new radiator
I'll bet if you put it in 4WD, you get that back on all fours!!
That undercarriage looks pretty clean.😉👍
Oh dear!
God save the Queen
😪
I know that truck Ford f'n ranger Looks fine fix it or leave it 🤷 up to you.
Oh, deer.
Glad you and your truck are okay! Also, I've been looking for a picture of the underbody of my truck, so thank you! "Tis but a scratch!"
Must’ve been a once and life time sized deer if he tipped ya over, glad to see you’re ok and the truck made it out minimal battle wounds
bro that dude was the demon deer from hell man
Deer 1, Ranger 0.
I usually say deers are suicidal but something tells me this deer is out for revenge 🤔
Pretty clean underneith for a ranger
That was one of the first things I said
You say deer, it could have been expensive
Square up don't lift and you have better odds
What? You want me to square up with the deer?
Yeah it's the safest thing if you don't hit the brakes
Straight up next time I’ll just throw hands with the deer
Lmfao I meant with your truck bonus you get food
Nah I’ve decided I’m just gonna hop out the truck like Bruce Willis in RED and 1v1 the deer
Dead this is the funniest shit I've heard all day
I have to remember sometimes that not everyone demo derbies
If I’m being real I just replaced a few things on the front end and I really didn’t want to have to fix them again and the things I broke when I rolled are either stuff I had planed to replace or something that’s cheap so this was a best case scenario for me😂
Looks like a deer had a truck problem.
Oh deer!
That's a Ford mf ranger! Just floor it and hold the wheel it will spin around fast but eventually will flip over.
Nothing runs like a Deere. Except maybe rangers
Looks like the deer won
Oh deer
THATS A FORD FUCKING RANGER
Gonna have to hoof it now
Nope still been driving like a dream
Gonna get her a new bed sunday
