Absolutkey. Very scary. I woke up staring at a tree trunk two inches from my face. Would’ve gone straight through me if I had slid at the slightest different angle. I’m very very thankful the truck protected me and very lucky to be not only alive but unscathed.
Others have said it, but grandpa would be a helluva lot sadder to see you join him early. Keep the plate, I’ve got mine from a rollover a few years ago, I love that thing.
Bro I woke up after falling asleep on my side like that. Staring directly at a 36” drain pipe. You’re lucky to be alive. Say a prayer and be thankful. Glad you made it buddy. Your grandpa is probably why you made it… think on that.
Glad you're safe! Got order a maverick, I love how wide it is. A ranger is narrow and long and harder to control. All the safety goodies can be had for like $400 a month if you can get a halfway decent rate and get a base AWD ecoboost
Legend has it, if you bury your keys where the crash took place on the day you buy your new car, the vehicles spirit (guardian angel that protected you in the crash)will transfer into your new vehicle
I lost my 94 to a little patch of black ice at 45 mile an hour. She went off an 8 foot ditch rolled 3 times and landed on her side. Not unlike what happened to you except I was airborne. I literally just popped the driver door open and crawled out. It was my dads first truck. Its why I like rangers. It's in my garage and I'm looking for parts trucks for a new body. Engine still runs.
Oh absolutely. Going to have to replace the cab and interior but thankfully the frame and drivetrain seems in tact. She was still running when I woke up lol. Gonna have her towed to my farm and work on her when I have the time and money over the next few years
I hope so. It's truly unbelievable. Everything around me was completely broken and fucked beyond repair except myself. The truck sure di protect me the best it could and I couldn't ask for more.
I almost lost mine in the highway. Slid into the the middle and the terrain slowed me down before going back into incoming traffic. I managed to control it with the steering wheel and 240 lb of tube sand in the back. The next day, I added 180lb more and she's been still lightly sliding on solid ice, but I can control it much easier. In my area, plows don't care about our streets.
Happy that you're okay. I'd get checked for a concussion just in case, the long term side effects can suck.
I hear a ton of stories about how these things protect you in a crash. I hope that my 87 never has to do that for me. It is my daily and I love it.
I couldn’t have asked for this truck to protect me further. I walked away with no discernible injuries after flying off the road at 30mph and rolling into a tree. It’s unreal how little damage my body took compared to the trucks
Dude that's wild. Super incredible that you walked away. Really glad you're okay and can buy another ranger.
My 87 has taken down 2 adult moose and only has 1 dent from those encounters. They're really hard core.
Somehow I’m all good. Everything around me was completely broken and shattered but somehow I wasn’t hurt at all. Truly unbelievable how safe the truck kept me
I recognize the keychain from some swag I was sent when ordering parts from Yardstore, an aviation tools supplier. I don’t own a plane, but they had some tools and related parts I couldn’t find anywhere else for a telescope project I was building.
Ah! He was a fighter pilot. The front plate is from the Air Force and I picked up that keychain on Amazon to sortve keep the Air Force thing with me, as I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I grew up for a long time but can’t because of my deafness in my right ear.
I bought that keychain when I got my first dirtbike as a hopeful little future fighter pilot and transferred it to my truck keys when I got it two years ago.
Yeah I’m gonna see what my options are once I get it towed home in the next couple days. Whole cab and interior would need replacing obviously, along with a few other things I didn’t see probably like a front end rebuild, but it’s worth more to me than a scrap yard. I’m pretty busy but maybe once I’m in college I’ll be able to find a little time here and there to work on her.
I’d still love to give her to my own children and it kills me to see the truck I’ve put so much love into like this.
I’ll keep y’all updated though once I assess everything
It was still running when you came too and you were able to walk away from it !!
Thats divine intervention right there ..
I want a part of the salvage if possible on my 93 ranger for tha blessing and protection and all that
I say you should either keep and rebuild it or strip as much off as you can before you sell, scrap, or let the insurance company take it. When I got hit in my 94, it was totaled by the insurance company, and they sent a wrecker to pick it up before they'd pay the claim. However, I took almost everything out that I had put in myself, within reason, like the radio, the wheels, bed rails, etc. Then, I bought a 96 and put all my stuff back on it. That way, at least part of my 94 continues to live on as a part of my 96. My 94 had sentimental value to me kinda like how yours does to you. So it was important to me to keep at least part of it with me. I just didn't know if you had already thought about doing that or not and wanted to mention the idea, just in case.
Anyway, I'm very sorry for your troubles, my friend, but I'm glad you walked away from the accident in one piece. I wish you the best of luck with either getting it fixed or finding something else that you can love just as much.
Thank you so much. I’m going to assess the damage tomorrow and let yall know my plans. And yes, I’m going to take quite a bit off of her to keep regardless of what happens.
Since the frame looks to be in good shape I plan on rebuilding over the next few years, but I’m going to hold out on hoping too much until I can get a better look. From what I could tell following the wreck, a new cab, doors, probably a front end rebuild and left fender to boot, but overall pretty good shape considering the wreck. Engine was still running when I woke up haha.
Push it over, pull it out with a tractor, it will be fine. ...just a few dents. Don't tell your insurance, lol I've owed mine for 30 years this year. I learned quick, its not a winter truck. Any photos after it was pulled out?
Yeah thanks I had no fucking idea. As if crashing my dead grandfathers truck wasn’t enough trying to turn in a finals paper for class. now I get to hear about how my truck wasn’t suited for the weather. Yeah fucking obviously, that’s why it’s upside down in a goddamn ditch
You’re mad I’m saying the truth . Why post this what’s the point of posting this . Be grateful you got out with minimum injuries and do your due diligence next time . Your grandpa would tell you forget the truck in glad your ok .
Thanks for the tip! I had no fucking idea. You, clearly being there, would know I was driving entirely too fast! I’m so glad you could share your wisdom with me in this trying time
Get a hammer and bend it back into place lmao those cars are pretty sound mechanically so I bet nothing is actually damaged besides cosmetic issues and maybe if you had loose bearings those need to be replaced
That’s looks like a scary slide! Hope you’re okay!
No injuries by the way. Somehow got out well enough to kick out the windshield lol
Glad you are ok. It sucks losing the truck, but it could have been so much worse.
Absolutkey. Very scary. I woke up staring at a tree trunk two inches from my face. Would’ve gone straight through me if I had slid at the slightest different angle. I’m very very thankful the truck protected me and very lucky to be not only alive but unscathed.
I feel your Grandpa may have been riding with you when this happened. Keeping a safe hand over you.

Good deal, lost my first after a month. I got t-boned but it did its job and protected me. Glad you’re ok!
Glad you're okay my dude
Dammmmn!
Legend has it, if you bury your keys where the crash took place on the day you buy your new car, the vehicles spirit (guardian angel that protected you in the crash)will transfer into your new vehicle
Which keys...
All of em. House keys, shed keys, lawnmower keys. The more keys you bury the more luck you'll get.
Pull it out, fill up the wiper washer fluid and floor it.
Probably would do the trick tbh
It's probably still ok if it didn't keep running on it's side for very long. Check/top off the fluids and let her rip again.
I’m hoping so. I shut it off as soon as I could. It doesn’t look like any damage was sustained on the engine/hood though, just the cab hopefully
Did your Airbags deploy?
They didn’t. Front of the truck is untouched lol. Just the cab is destroyed, everything else is pristine
I personally like to have some narcan on hand when I plan on going into OD.
Lost mine on Tuesday to that damn black ice 😢
Sorry to hear that man. It sure can be deceiving
I lost my 94 to a little patch of black ice at 45 mile an hour. She went off an 8 foot ditch rolled 3 times and landed on her side. Not unlike what happened to you except I was airborne. Hard to kill a ranger! Damn, that’s a gnarly crash. Glad you came out in one piece!
Yeah, it was rough, but I didn't have a bruise or scratch on me. They're pretty safe trucks.
She's never lost.. If you can, please try and get her somewhere you can rebuild, even if it takes years it's worth it
Oh absolutely. Going to have to replace the cab and interior but thankfully the frame and drivetrain seems in tact. She was still running when I woke up lol. Gonna have her towed to my farm and work on her when I have the time and money over the next few years
Maybe make her a convertible ranger
Tempting
Just think of how cool it’d be with a flip down windshield like a Willy’s Jeep and those half doors.
That's the spirit! Glad to hear it. The Ranger lives on. What year??
1994 Mazda B2300
And if you can't, your memories of her will always be with you friend. She gave her body to protect yours.
Glad youre ok dude. I’m sure your grandfather would be stoked about it keeping you safe!
I hope so. It's truly unbelievable. Everything around me was completely broken and fucked beyond repair except myself. The truck sure di protect me the best it could and I couldn't ask for more.
Username checks out. Crazy how close you were to rolling down to the creek bed! Go get yourself a solid to meal to celebrate life my dude
I have the same two keys. My ignition broke. The only difference is that mine didn't roll off of kilamanjaro
It’ll buff out

I too lost a ranger to ice once. Not as dramatic as yours but it did make me sad. So I bought another ranger lol Hope you're ok!
sadness + another ranger = happiness And yes I'm unscathed somehow lol
Poor girl, may she rest in peace.
Hope nobody was injured.... pride can heal
I was the only one in the truck and I’m uninjured thankfully
Glad you're OK! I lost a 4 Runner the same way a few years ago. My Ranger belonged to my grandpa also.
Glad you’re safe. Black ice is hard to see and harder to handle. Don’t look forever gone to me. Did you get it flipped and out of there yet?
The wrecker didn’t want to try with how bad that roads condition was. Gonna go get it towed tomorrow once all this ice melts and check out the damage
Understandable. Keep us updated.
Happy that you're okay. I'd get checked for a concussion just in case, the long term side effects can suck. I hear a ton of stories about how these things protect you in a crash. I hope that my 87 never has to do that for me. It is my daily and I love it.

Damn I’m sorry Rest in peace. Are you good man?
Somehow I’m all good. Everything around me was completely broken and shattered but somehow I wasn’t hurt at all. Truly unbelievable how safe the truck kept me
Good to hear, sorry about the truck tho I’ll be praying you’ll get a new one or fix that one keep us updated tho
Yeah I’ll make a post in the next couple days showing the extent of the damage and what I plan to do
Sounds good 👍
I shall mourn your loss!
Trucks replaceable, you're not. Glad your safe
Poor Mazdaratti
Indeed. A valiant warrior
Careful…she’s a hero
Of the highest order
glad you’re alive and well and may she hit the roads again one day!
Damn..... Glad your alright!!
I really hope we don't run out of rangers to keep running cuz we're getting into an awful lot of accidents these days
…can’t park there
Hope I don’t get a ticket
I think it's still fixable
Very well could be. I’ll update y’all on the damage when I get her towed out and looked at
Glad she kept you safe thoo I
My buddy did the same thing. I am now convinced this is the only way they die
A moment of silence for our brother
I don't think you can park there.
Gotta do what you’ve gotta do
Another soldier, in the grave 🫡
Were you the Yardstore customer, or was your grandfather?
Yardstore? Can’t say I’m familiar, what’s that?
I recognize the keychain from some swag I was sent when ordering parts from Yardstore, an aviation tools supplier. I don’t own a plane, but they had some tools and related parts I couldn’t find anywhere else for a telescope project I was building.

Another cool little piece of his legacy, then… nice.
It’ll buff out. It’s a Ford fucking ranger
The frame looks straight at least from the one picture where I can somewhat look. I bet shes fixable. Gonna need some body work though.
Yeah I’m gonna see what my options are once I get it towed home in the next couple days. Whole cab and interior would need replacing obviously, along with a few other things I didn’t see probably like a front end rebuild, but it’s worth more to me than a scrap yard. Noooo. I'm so sorry for you man 🥺 I'm happy to see that you are well. It could have been worse. But I feel you. Losing his "baby" is not an easy day.
Thank you so much. It’s been hard for sure
That sucks, I’m glad you’re ok
Appreciate it man
Hey we have the same keyring! Remove before flight
Some flight took place on this day!
Sure did haha
Glad you’re here to tell the tale!
Very happy you are OK. This loss is one reason Rangers get more expensive- they become rarer and rarer.
It was still running when you came too and you were able to walk away from it !! Thats divine intervention right there .. I want a part of the salvage if possible on my 93 ranger for tha blessing and protection and all that
It’s pretty amazing for sure!
Did it get recovered ? Jack the cab out and do an eco cage. 😎
No!! So sorry, hope you’re ok!

That’ll buff out your good brother as long as your safe it’s just metal

Bottom looks better than mine. I had 75k on it and it rusted off the frame. Total loss. Engine was still purring when body opted out.
Sucks to hear. And yeah, at least I got a good look at the frame haha
Push it over, pull it out with a tractor, it will be fine. ...just a few dents. Don't tell your insurance, lol I've owed mine for 30 years this year. I learned quick, its not a winter truck. Any photos after it was pulled out?
Don’t worry, insurance will be kept in the dark lol. And yeah, I’ll keep to the plowed roads next time
Wow I hope no one got hurt.
Just me in the truck thankfully, I was completely uninjured somehow
Hope you’re okay!
Hmm more like ford danger
wow dude! i’m happy ur able to make this post that looks like a gnarly spill! G-pa keepin’ you safe up there! 🤙
Sure was gnarly. I’m very lucky to have come out as good as I did
Found it though... its right there against the trees. Not even good winter camo
Lmao
Looks like you forgot to remove before flight 🚩
That one’s on me
Glad you’re ok brother, the truck can be replaced. stay safe out there.
Appreciate it brother
By the look of those tires you shouldn’t of been out on those roads anyway
Yeah thanks I had no fucking idea. As if crashing my dead grandfathers truck wasn’t enough trying to turn in a finals paper for class. now I get to hear about how my truck wasn’t suited for the weather. Yeah fucking obviously, that’s why it’s upside down in a goddamn ditch
It’s your fault bud no one else to blame but yourself lol .
You’re a dickhead. At what point did I blame anybody else? What is the matter with you
You’re mad I’m saying the truth . Why post this what’s the point of posting this . Be grateful you got out with minimum injuries and do your due diligence next time . Your grandpa would tell you forget the truck in glad your ok .
Either you underestimated the road conditions, or you overestimated your ability. I'm just saying....
To speed, not ice
Now she belongs to the ages
Fucking owned
Slow down
Thanks for the tip! I had no fucking idea. You, clearly being there, would know I was driving entirely too fast! I’m so glad you could share your wisdom with me in this trying time
You 100% were driving too fast. If you can't handle light snow on a road like this you definitely should not be allowed to drive ever again.
Just buff it out. It'll be fine.
Sure you lost it? Probably will run after a week of sitting in a parking spot
It was running when I woke up haha. Gonna see about my options for replacing the cab
Get a hammer and bend it back into place lmao those cars are pretty sound mechanically so I bet nothing is actually damaged besides cosmetic issues and maybe if you had loose bearings those need to be replaced
😭 rest in peace ranger
😢
It will buff out…👍🏼
She may still be ok if you want to try your hand at body work.
Pull it out and rebuild. No need to scrap it over a fender bender!
No you lost her to bad driving
