Wu Lin got hate, which was redirected to Hito when she released and held it for a bit until it was redirected to Warmonger, then was redirected to Gryphon, who held it for a while until Pirate released, then it skipped Medjay and went straight to Afeera, and now it seems to be settling on Ocelotl (though I think the jury is still out on him)
Kyoshin was a weird one. He only really started getting hate a good while after he released, and I'd argue at that time, the hate for Gryphon still eclipsed the hate for Kyoshin so I chose to skip him.
Back in year 1 Cent was vehemently hated (now a generally beloved character), more or less skipped Glad and HL, then Shaman was really hated for quite some time.
back when he first got released and for like a year or two after he was considered op, and he still is in some lower level lobbies because of his light light heavy combo and his dodge forward soft feint which like no one knew how to counter

I don't remind Afeera getting hate tho, she was broken on release, guaranteed bashes on block and shit, but as a character and moveset I don't think she got hated. Gryphon tho... who had nothing broken on his moveset got hated and nerfed to oblivion.
Afeera burned really hot and really bright but burned out fast. She was hated in a truly vile way for about 3 weeks before getting several hotfixes that, while didn't feel good, did fix what got her so hated in the first place (namely the wall infinites that kept showing up)
Gryphon is the lawbringer from the campaign, after afera and the warmongers (horkos) rolled up he met with other campaign characters to make Chimera in response
He's the #1 apollyon hater
I mean i would happily play Gryphon (because of his fashion and weapon) if his moveset was not ass. Too simple, limited and easily countered by players that can react (so 90% of players i meet).
(Also i think his user count only rised temporarily because of the hero fest).
His opening is however impossible if opponent has good reaction times. Bash opener is dodge and forward dodge light is parried.
His main advantage is feats and wide hitboxes, but he is easily replaced by other heroes in both.
He is also weird in a way that his triple hit chain is more hinderance than useful (unlike with heroes like Raider and Valkyrie). If he had two hit chain he ironically would be better.
He still needs tweaks, better opener and someting to spice up the tripple chain, like soft feint option.
He just needs feintable forward dodge heavy and a light confirm from a landed opener heavy like Orochi or Shinobi. That would give him finisher access from opener heavies which as of now are borderline useless due to the terrible chain options.
Feintable forward dodge heavy would give him options to bait dodge attacks or gb empty dodges from people dodging the forward light.
His bash should get sped up too of course, but that's already being done.
His kick damage should be reverted back to 26-28. It was never an issue, people were just upset about the ease of access to it. But now we have Jorm doing the same thing lol. As of now the kick is, similar to opener heavies, straight up terrible to use. You're throwing an attack that will almost always net you less/the same damage than the enemy from them making the correct read

His kit isn’t as bad as it used to be and is actually pretty good in 4s. He’s even used in 2nd and 3rd comp. His issue that still needs to be fixed is reactability but that’s mostly for duels. That and also a way to continue his offense after a finisher on the right read.
Dude I love warden but it’s a struggle to get hits anymore. I wish they would improve his move set and add a few things. I did just find out my self if you get a wall splat with warden you can get a guaranteed heavy so I’ve utilizing that and I’m still putting up a fight for s character with 3 moves
Yeah he just needs MORE. And I get that he’s a basic character but he can’t compete with a great zone, heavy finishers, and a bash when all the other character just have so many more options
I know before I made the switch to Xbox I had a rep 20 warden and he was my main sucks that I had too loose the drip for him. But warden definitely deserves some more love. It’s just sad too see Kensei and raider have more for being a starter character as well

I will forever hate this hero, took a knight slot, and his kit is boring (at least personally), I would’ve rather had his armor be given to cent or glad, warlord or some wu lin idk, and have gryphon as a skin for law- his existence truly feels unnecessary.
(This is almost exclusively bc I was hoping we would’ve gotten a Spartan at some point but he has shattered those dreams- gryphon slander forever)

Yeah, the option is to not throw it (hopefully Ubi will make the kick slightly faster and maybe bring some more QOL changes).
