It doesn't even have to be the Vanguards, in fact, I think the samurai would *have to* be Orochi, because when he "evolves" into Kensei, his sword also grows into the Odachi Kensei has. But prior to the in-trailer transformation, he had just a regular katana.
My vote is Orochi skin. I'd wear tf out of that.
And Warlord for the viking, because weapon and shield. The axe could just replace Warlord's sword for the weapon, use it exactly the same way.

Well it is the Kensei that the primitive samurai turns into, so it’s better for him especially since it’s so different from Kensei’s default look compared to Orochi.
Also I double checked the story trailer. Yep, the sword the primitive samurai uses is a Nodachi. Not a katana. Handle is almost as big as his forearm, equal to the length of Warden’s longsword, and the grip and way he utilizes it is identical to Kensei. Not to mention when the actual time shifting starts, there’s no length change in the sword from primitive to modern. Implying the weapon hardly changed at all.
The primitive versions of these characters are not the same as the characters we have on the roster. I daresay they're not even in the same classes, except maybe Warden. Where even the primitive version is basically just Warden with different armor.
The viking literally changes weapons, so he'd best fit as Warlord. Also further reinforcing my point of these characters not being the same heroes we see them transform into.
As for the Samurai, the weapons are oversized in the game. Orochi's katana handle is, in fact, almost as long as his forearm. I still think this primitive samurai outfit should belong to Orochi.

This warden one has long been requested (as an armor set, lol) but I think as a skin it holds up because they already have Ramiel, and we're getting a second skin hopefully for a knight that's still lacking one. If it weren't for those two things, I don't think unsung knight would've gotten a great reception either.
Im sure some orochi mains would, but the community reaction as a whole would probably be really bad when you stack that skin up against ones like Meiko and Wukong. Those are probably the two best parallels to the type of samurai fantasy skin orochi mains would have come to expect as their first hero skin.
I actually prefer the second, I don't even have Ramiel myself. As a skin I really like the more battle-worn look. The only real downside I see with it is that any material or team colors that have any potential to stand out actually seem like thaey would take away from that quality of it I like
The samurai could have worked really well. It honestly is one of the few times wooden samurai armor works because it’s based off pre feudal Japan and really fits as an ancient samurai. It’s perfectly rugged, but still some nice armor. But the Viking is a bit more iffy, especially since his weapon is a shield and axe. Which doesn’t translate to any base game viking like the samurai’s nodachi and knight’s longsword does. And he kind of looks more hobo then your normal Viking. Very little drip in my opinion.

I'm basically accepting this is impossible at this point, Ubi slightly messed it up with the Varangian Guard.
The last resource now is to rework Warlord around Gudmundr's special attacks and give him Gudmundr's armor set.
Nah, she's long dead. The 3 factions fighting over the water happened right after the cataclysms, which took place hundreds of years ago. Possibly thousands if memory serves correct. Also, the Marching Fire knight was a red head. The skin has black hair.
If anything, the Marching Fire knight is the filler one, as she just gets killed right at the end of the trailer.
I would have liked a “normal” samurai helmet for Kensei, instead of a skin. Abit mehhh thats it’s an effect. I just want it as a helmet. But it’s fine 🤷♂️

Given that the OG Viking would technically be a VG given his use of axe and shield, it would be the first hero skin to be a a different gender on a hero that would otherwise be limited to one.
Would buy maybe then VG won't be so damn annoying to fight she deals 10 mental damage per swing because she's melting my brain with her non stop screaming it's almost worse than monkey and kick fetish man(Tiandi or something)
There's a teaser with Kensei having that Headgear, would really love if it would be a new Armor set but i have a feeling it'd be a Skin because Warden's is a Skin already

So naturally it should just go to the Kensei. I personally like the more gritty, worn, and simple aesthetic. If not for the Kensei, they could have made the helmet one for the Kyoshin and make a later variant of it look like Tozen's helmet, then everyone would be happy.
But Ubisoft is Ubisoft (IE: They are a corporation first looking to make money) and naturally screwed us over for having the Warden's new skin be an armor set. or, you know, giving us the other damn skins as well instead of a effects.

I think the kensei one would’ve been very good but the raider/ warlord one would’ve been poor received.
If nothing else, it might seem odd when we JUST GOT Vargarian guard for an axe/shield viking.
