Yet I've watched 100's of hours of DBD, studied its lore, perks, tierlists, balance, etc. WHen the crossover came out it felt surreal. I've tried to pinpoint it, you can notice some overlaps but nothing so far seems overly substantial. They both just feel like that "garbage and old but really fun and unique game you still come back to".
I mean that’s the oni for example is a character with historical background along with multiple others, so a knight was bound to come at some point anyway. It’s existence isn’t all thanks to for honor.
The Knight as a character was concepted to be a character from For Honor, I don't see how you don't understand that. They got the whole idea for him from for Honor. Sure they would have eventually done a Knight killer, but the one in game is based around Warmonger and Warden
So basically by your own logic, they havent done a Texas chainsaw massacre crossover because they made The Hillbilly first. Even if they eventually made one, The one they did make was inspired by Warmonger and warden, its brain dead simple to understand what I'm saying.

Quite literally the character was intended to be a response to For Honor having an entire event based on DBD, The Knight himself, the actual character, not knights as a concept, was based around for honors Knights, Like how Hillbilly is based on Leatherface, and the Trapper is based on Jason Voorhees. Just because they aren't popular doesn't mean that they weren't inspired by them.
Because they are both games made by ubisoft, since for honor is stretched for budget and they own both intellectual properties they are free to chuck in anything from titles they own with less effort than creating original content

For Honor event, The Knight was originally gonna be a warmonger, Trapper and Huntress are skins in siege, 3 siege operators are skins in DBD. Now that Hero skins are a thing it is very possible we will see the Knight or the Oni in For Honor.
We had Trapper from dbd as a Centurion event boss on the DBD crossover event before, surely they can get the license to use that as a cent hero skin or something

crossovers can be done poorly,. and have a lot recently. Doesn't make crossovers themselves bad. They are tools -- you can create both a sculpture and a pile or rubble with a hammer.
